Realistic or Modern You Promised to Be Careful

JD frowns. “I don’t care. I’d rather be wrong and at least checked it out then be right and did nothing!” He snaps and feels his phone buzz. He reads the message and then looks at Josh, showing him. “Think we need to do soemtbing now?”

The nodded and pulled together a team to get there as quickly as possible not letting JD go along. “You’re too close on this one and you need to wait here” josh told him and shook his head some “I’ll let you know when she’s safe.” He assured him.

JD frowns but sits down at his desk. He sighs and runs a hand through his hair. He just wanted to be there for her. “You call me as soon as she’s out and safe.” He tells him firmly. He was gonna rush over as soon as he knew she was okay.

Josh agreed and promised him as he was putting his best on then clapped his shoulder and left with the others.

Carmen jumped out of her skin as Charlie started yelling again and just sat there crying and trying her best to stay calm, thinking of Jorge and trying to stay positive but sirens were now sounding in the distance and it only seemed to make Charlie worse.

JD nods and stands up, starting to pace. He wanted to be there. He hated just sitting back, espicaly when the love of his life was in danger. He only hoped she got out of this okay.

She watched him carefully and after waiting for what seemed like forever she got the courage to stand up and slowly make her way over to him. “Charlie... Charlie it’s alright. It’s alright, it’s just me, just carmen okay?” She watched like a hawk as he span and aimed his gun at her so she stopped in her tracks “Charlie you need to let us all go, I don’t know why you’re doing this but whatever is going on I can help you okay? We can work through this one, we worked through everything else before didn’t we?” She smiled at him a little and tried to be encouraging, ignoring the receptionists muttering behind her as she was just terrified. “Please Charlie we need to be able to leave alright?” She coaxed and took one step closer to him as she heard all the police cars had pulled up outside the building.

Josh arrives at the building and gets out of his car. “Do we have a sniper on the opposite roof yet? Any eyes inside?” He asks and looks up at the building. He watches the officers get to the door and bust in. He only hoped there would be no casualties.

Carmen has been trying to talk him down to dropping the gun the whole time but soon as he heard the banging on the door he seemed to flip around and lifted it, shooting at the others, hitting one woman in the arm. “Shit! Charlie! It’s okay, it’s okay, look at me and calm down okay? Remember the breathing techniques?” She asked him quietly, trying her best to stay calm as well, hoping they were smart enough to have heard the shots and not keep breaking doors down.

Josh hears a shot and quickly asks for eyes again. He hears the snipers in position, but doesn’t have a clear shot. There’s a woman in the way. He frowns and grits his teeth. They needed to keep getting to the hostages and the guy if the sniper couldn’t take him out.

She whimpered a bit as the banging started up again and this time she called out. “Stop! Stop!” She yelled at them, trying desperately to calm Charlie down. “He’s a vet you gotta stop!” She yelled to the people outside. She knew this could go either way at this point and stepped a bit further away, moving towards the girl that had been hit and helped her get pressure on it. “Charlie this girl is really hurt.... we gotta take her to get help okay? Please Charlie we will get you better I promise but you need to let these people go.” She told him quietly about to step further towards him but she heard the window smash and then saw Charlie drop to the floor

Josh hears the sniper had the all clear and tells him to fire. Once the sniper let him know the guy was fine he tells the officers to go get the hostages.

Carmen stood there shaking some as they finally got the doors open and she told them to go to the young girl that had been hit, following the officers out and saw josh, frowning some. “I’m okay... I’m okay I uh...” she was walking with him a few steps but the shock set in and she had to be taken to one of the ambulances and checked over, sitting there with one of those foil blankets on and waiting to be told where to go next when she saw Jorge pull up.

JD gets the call from josh and gets there fast. He sees her sitting in an ambulance and rushes over. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?” He asks softly and cups her cheeks gently. “I was so worried.” He whispers and kisses her forehead.

She whimpered some and reached for him, shaking her was. “I’m okay, I’m okay... I called my mom and talked to her and I think Charlie started getting worked up... and I went out to get him for his session and he had everybody against the wall, I don’t know how he managed to get ahold of a gun but he was pointing it at me the whole time I was on the phone to you. He was making sure I didn’t tell you anything.” She whimpered. “It wasn’t his fault. He was in a psychotic break. Charlie is a nice person. He’s not ... they shot him.” She was rambling now and just held onto him.

JD holds her close and rubs her back. “I’m sorry love. I’m so sorry.” He murmurd siftly and rocks her gently. He knew that had to be hard. Seeing his first person dead and even the first person he watched have to be taken down had been hard and he had been trained for it. She hadn’t. He sighs softly and kisses the top of her head. “You ready to go home? Want me to call you mom and cancel tonight? I’m sure they’ll understand.”

She shook her head some. “I have to give a statement still... but I think... maybe have them over to mine instead... I don’t wanna go out.” She mumbled and held onto him tighter until she burst into tears and cried into his shoulder, holding his shirt tightly. “Please stay at mine tonight.” She begged quietly.

JD nods and holds her close. “Of course baby.” He mjrmjrd snd rocks her gently. He kisses her head and keeps her close. He moves to the side when the officer comes for the statement, but keeps an arm around her gently.

Carmen explained everything to the officer and gave him her contact details then left quietly with JD and got in his car, resting her head against the window and staring out at the city. “I thought he was gonna kill us.” She whimpered a bit and gripped at his free hand.

JD holds her hand tightly. “You’re okay baby. No ones gonna hurt you.” He tries to reassure her. He kisses her hand and heads home. He gets to her place and goes upstairs with her so she could change. He calls her mom for her and asks them to come to Carmen’s place instead. She goes over to Carmen after and wraps his arms around her, pulling her close. “Wanna lay in bed and watch a movie? I can make dinner tonight as well.”

She just nodded and curled up into him, shivering a bit and pulled the blanket around them tighter. “You’re like my own radiator.” She murmured. “You’re nice and warm.” She smiled a little tiredly at him.

JD smiles a little and turns the tv on, but keeps the volume low. He kisses her head and rubs her back softly. “Get some rest. You’ve had a long day.” He murmurs softly.

She was curled up in bed still when the doorbell went and she slept through it this time, her mom stepping in when JD opened and frowned some. “How is she?” She asked worried.

JD frowns a little and sighs. "She's okay, not great." He murmurs and ushers them in. He closes the door and sighs soflty. "I think she'll be okay though."
