WW Resistance (1v1v1)

Silas opened the Bottomless Box and withdrew the severed arm from it,before slamming it on Jeanne's desk with a mighty crash. "A fresh,thick piece of meat." Silas decided to roll with the situation. Jeanne was one of the brightest scientists and engineers at the Sanctuary,though that wasn't saying much,considering most magi hold high technology in disdain. Jeanne,however,was a different story. They were always looking for a way to further both,at the same time. Sometimes in the same object.

They first pitched the Blind Bomb to Yumi. And pretty much did everything about it,except for building the damn thing.

"What's really important about it,though,is what the meat's inside of." Silas rapped a knuckle against the armoured limb. "It has interesting properties. Doesn't negate magic,but it seriously dampens it. I wanna know why and how. Think you can get that done?"

"Funny, I wasn't expecting to get lunch today." For a flicker of a second, Jeanne's full attention left the screen, looking over the arm for a brief moment. Back to the screen, back to the arm. Aaaand, arm won. Turning off the projected keyboard, Jeanne propped his elbow up, looking at the arm properly.

"Dampens magic, you say? Well that's new...I mean...not completely new, mages can do that themselves, but for a normal that's downright brilliant. Is this the only piece?" He picked up a finger, flexing it and getting a feel for the thing. "And think? Babe, I know. They can't make anything these eyes can't see."

Picking the thing up, he rolled across the floor in his chair, flipping himself next to a table full of all sorts of machines. Popping it into a tray he started working his magic. A few seconds later, the fleshie part of the arm went flying across the room into a waste bin. Then it was cue the lazers and light show and a whole lot of strange smells.

"Oh....that's intriguing..." Jeanne grinned, almost like a child on Christmas.

By the time he was done, Jeanne had split up, divided, sifted, and sorted almost all of the components on either a physical scale, or across a whiteboard. Folding his arms, he looked at one of the beakers that contained a sort of glowing goo. Something Jeanne had said in his rather rapid fire explanation of ingredients. A coating of platinum, the level consistent with a dip in a liquid vat of it, bismuth, tin, aluminum, a shot at crazies being right, a bit of nickle, a god bit of silica and two things that he couldn't place. One, because it was part of a processing format he couldn't deconstruct, and the other, because up until now, it wasn't something that existed. Which boiled down to one thing, mages.

"So, what exactly did you get this from?"

Silas barely caught much of what Jeanne was saying. The accent was one thing,but when he talks,Silas doubts he even takes the time to breathe. However,he caught the composition of the armour well enough. Platinum paint,and a whole assortment of lighter and softer metals and metalloids,making one hell of a strange alloy. Silas was no metallurgist,but it seemed impossible to make without magic,even to him. "A Platinum Angel. You've heard of them,I hope."

Jeanne blinked, then started laughing. Heard of them? Who hadn't heard of them? They were nightrises terrorist branch to mages. Death on wheels, as Corono put it.

"You took this from a platinum angel? How the hell did you manage that one?" Shaking his head, he wiped his hand over his eye, "God, Babe, I know I pick the crazy ones, but you are something completely different."

"What is this about the angels?" Yumi raised an eyebrow from the doorway, looking between the two. Jeanne just shook his head, still chuckling.

When Jeanne started to bust a gut,Silas knew he asked a stupid question. Always cover your bases. But some things are safe to assume... "There were three. One for each of us. I nearly killed two of them. They retreated just before the media showed up. But,before that happened,I managed to saw off their commander's arm." Just as Silas finished his explanation,Grandma Yumi walked into the lab,looking stern as ever,asking about the Angels.

"Ma'am,excellent timing." Pulling the two take tens from the Bottomless Box,Silas set them on a nearby table - A sterile one - And said, "I brought Tim's. And there was a Platinum Angel squad at the servers. That's just the cherry on the clusterfuck cake,though. I assume you want a debrief now?" Yumi always left a bit of a...Sour taste in Silas' mouth. He never sees,nor hears,of Yumi going out to put her considerable talents to use in the fight. And he has a hunch that she knows of this,despite him keeping his trap shut about it.

Jeanne nodded, still grinning like an idiot. "I can't believe you took them on like that."

Yumi for once didn't really question the coffee that Silas produced. After all, he did seem to do it a lot, and though she wouldn't admit it, it was better than most of the places in the Sanctuary. Nodding her head, she silently did a scan over on him. He was an interesting one, alright. He was skeptical about things in general, like his team mates, though he was smart enough to understand at least enough to understand some of the why.

"If you'd like. "

"Oh babe, please do. I want to hear all about this."

Standing before the entrance to a set of ruins, after braving the harsh, dense jungle terrain, Axel coughed, spitting out a bug of some sort.

"
I think I might have said this at some point on the trek through here, but I really fuckin' hate this place." He spewed, for the seventh time at least since crossing into the lush greenery of the jungle, teeming with life, wonder, and magic. But mostly life. Buzzing, annoying, bloodsucking life. Stepping into the ruins of what seemed to be a temple, Axel realized it led deeper into the volcano. Perhaps it would take them down to the magma. Axel figured it'd be easier to fuel a magical device down there, magma and proximity to it might work for some kind of ancient tech meant to harness it. Upon stepping past the threshold of the ruins, and being inside, an ominous feeling overtook Axel, and he found it impossible to breathe for a moment. Forcing another step forward, snapping out of his sudden blank moment, he took a sharp breath in.

This place felt.... Evil.

He glanced back at Cal with a worried look. "
.... What are we getting into? Do you think we should start worrying about those fresh tracks yet?" He queried of her, hoping against hope she might feel the same way he did, and want to call off the mission. Fighting Nightrise agents had not once scared Axel to the degree of fear he felt right now.

Cal rolled her eyes yet again as Axel complained about the bugs. To give him credit, he was like a strange magnet for the things, where as she hadn't had a single one land on her. But as Axel crossed the threshold of a ruins, Cal stopped. Running her hand along a piece of a wall that remained, her eyes followed the symbols that curled across it. Someone had taken great care to write it. She wasn't big on history, but she couldn't place why they seemed familiar to her.

Letting her fingers linger just a moment longer, she stepped in after Axel. The wall she hit was both teeming with bad and like she had broke the surface of water with burning lungs. She breathed in deep, and started grinning.

"Hell."

Moving farther in, Meido was curling and pressing, excited to a degree that was completely foreign to Cal.

Axel swallowed the lump that had suddenly welled up in his throat, almost feeling a chill as Cal passed by him, as if cold air emanated from her body in the sweltering heat of the volcanic jungle, a terrifying grin on her face. Feeling wholly uncomfortable, Axel pressed on, trying to avoid looking at the unnerving markings that littered the walls of the ruins and focus solely on Cal's back. It was sort of a comforting sight to him, he felt like Cal could handle things, she could take the lead.

As they descended, eventually the stairwell opened up into a massive chamber that could only be described as an amphitheatre. The stairs led out directly into the peak of a semi-circle, which had a pool of magma separating the stands from the central stage. Another door, littered with the same markings, but bolder and more distinct sat on the far wall of the central stage. The pool of magma bubbled and boiled, As if something were breathing right underneath the surface.

Axel's eyes widened as he saw three people he recognized standing on the central stage.

David, Lizzie, and Tybalt. David and Lizzie seemed off, as if something were polluting their presence. As Axel watched on in horror, Tybalt turned back to face him and Cal, his eyes demonic. The whites were completely black, and the pupils were a piercing yellow colour. The iris was cat-like, a slit that instilled a sense of dread into Axel, the stare of a predator. Tybalt held the scroll he'd been holding that day a couple weeks ago when Cal and Axel had sparred with David and Lizzie. It glowed with a black aura, seeping off of itself and seeming to grip David and Lizzie.

A voice echoed, ethereal and ancient.

"
You two know what to do." It sounded off, filling not the air, but Axel's mind.

"
Yes, Lady Despair." David answered, turning back to face Axel, his eyes the same as Tybalt's, demonic and predatorial.

By the time they hit the sweltering hot amphitheatre , Cal's breath was leaving her like she was in sub zero weather, in an almost crystallizing cloud. As they had passed more symbols, etchings, and carvings, Meido was growing more lively. It wasn't speaking, but Cal could feel it trying to see out of her own eyes, taking a backseat to her consciousness as it split it's examination. Her eyes settled on the three and she could feel her other half grinning like the devil it was.

Her skin crawled, a shiver running down her spine. She was frigid and glowing and hadn't a clue she was either, not when she had life coursing through her veins that was mixed with a resonance that was screaming. The voice didn't enter her head, but Meido let out a guttural growl.

Cal's attention snapped to David. She knew that name. Her grin went to her ears, full of sharks teeth and venom.

David held up a hand, a swirling ball of darkness welling up into it.

"
Noctis Etra, Umbralus." He chanted, crushing the orb, the darkness seeping into him and transforming his body. His hair, turning black, grew lengthy immediately, falling around his shoulders as his skin took on a shadowy quality. Axel gasped, Noctis Etra being a high level darkness spell, also a spell David had never cast before. And what was with that 'Umbralus' bit at the end?

David melted into the shadow in which he stood, cast by the bubbling magma, reappearing in the shadow directly in front of Axel and Cal. With a speed beyond human, beyond even a mage enhanced by magic, he grabbed Axel by the neck, tossing him like a rag doll over his shoulder, towards the pool of magma. Zeroing in on Cal from that point, it seemed like David's nose had lengthened, and his teeth and fingernails were sharper, animalistic.

"
You'll regret this, teacher's pet." David spat, launching a cloaked, billowing shadowy punch at Cal's grinning face.

~~~
As Axel flew through the air, he steadied himself, rocketing towards Lizzie and Tybalt, the latter of the two already leaving the scene, descending the stairs. Axel swallowed hard, fighting the paralyzing fear that gripped him, and began casting a spell. Two golems began to form under his feet from the nearby magma and stone, two Vulcan Rockets, forming their pterodactyl-like bodies. Standing atop them, carrying him to the centre stage, Axel leapt off, the two Rockets flying for Lizzie and Tybalt respectively as Axel landed in a roll, not 20 feet from Lizzie.
"
Lizzie, deal with the boy and his golems." Tybalt echoed across the room as the Vulcan Rockets flew at their targets.
Cal's grin never faltered, not even when David's punch connected with her face. Not even when it seeped into her flesh like it was nothing but a gust of wind passing over her the moment it did. It wasn't something she'd ever done before, and she had a feeling she wasn't the one doing it. But if meido was truly that interested in getting involved, far be it from her to argue. Leaning towards David ever so faintly, she whispered softly, giggling, " Anarath Jucari, my soul bleeds for you."
In the next moment, she was gone, a swirl of dust left where she stood. Blinking in above him, she let her arms spread wide. From her skin came the smoke, a sensation of utter and total weakness. Doubt and failure. Completely subclass and a failure in everything that mattered to him, strength, intelligence.
---
"Anything, to help the Lady," With a giggle, Lizzie nodded happily. "Actra, Umbralus."
Looking at Axel, she smiled, giving him an almost flirty wave before she pulled herself into a fighting stance. Her entire form shifted, growing more avian until she was in the air, black as night and moving like some shadow demon. She collided herself with the golems, her touching seeping in a taint of matter. With a high laugh, she launched her new toys right back at their master, demon birds of death that they had become.
As David's face entered the Blind through Cal, Tybalt twitched.
"
It was as you predicted, milady. The reckless one I spoke of does in fact carry the Meido bloodline. Yumi wasn't lying or playing it up for her own agenda, she did in fact carry the blood of the original Meido bearer." He spoke to the scroll, feeling it's pulsing grow stronger as if it's heart was beating faster.
"
.... Perfect." It whispered, it's voice low, as if purring.
~~~

Axel yelped as his golems were turned against him. He swallowed, trying to think of a new tactic.

Well, he thought with a slight grin, that seemed more sad than mischievous, When all you have is a hammer, smash some shit.

He slammed his hands to the ground, creating a single large golem, using a good chunk of his magic. He thanked whatever magic gods there were watching over him today that there was magma and stone all around him, or this would have been harder to do.

"
Vulcan Turret!" He shouted, erecting a large fat reptilian golem, whose jaw was elongated like an alligator's. Opening it's jaw slightly, it created what looked like a six-chamber gatling gun. Only bigger. Rooting itself in place, it's tail reaching back and connecting itself to the magma for a source of ammunition, it began to shoot magma bullets at the speed of a gatling gun across the battlefield. Gunning down the changed golems, it shifted it's sights, and fire, to the now avian-Lizzie.

As it fired, Axel could only try to speculate on what this 'Umbralus' was. It seemed to be corrupting David and Lizzie, transforming them.... He needed to see more, Axel could feel he needed to know more about this 'Umbralus'.

~~~
David swallowed, his eyes growing wider, as he swiped into the smoke.
"
You and Meido don't scare me! I'm a servant of Lady Despair, I'll never lose to a pathetic curse-bearing sub-human like you, Calandra Porter!" He yelped, as if affirming it for himself as he created another two orbs of darkness in his palms. "Duo Noctis Etra, UMBRALUS!" He screamed, crushing both, as he morphed further, a tail shooting out his tailbone, his nose elongating into a snout, fur growing on his arms and legs as his claws and teeth growing sharper.
Looking like a shadow of a werewolf, David cackled, sounding raspy and animal-like.
"
I smell your stench bitch. Your fear tactics won't work on me." He howled into the mist.
~~~

Standing stop the volcano, Hope Astrumregis signalled to his Platinum Angel squad.

"
Wait for now. I can't confirm, but I sense something strange down there. We're going to let it die down before entering." He messaged, receiving every member of the squad's confirmation of his command. Sighing, his curiosity peaking, Hope wanted desperately to know what lay waiting for him at the bottom of the volcano.

"Cute." Lizzie muttered. Latching a taloned hand into the ceiling, she pulled downwards. A sheild of igneous rock curled it's way around her, taking the magma bullets which only added to it as she pushed the spell through the rock into the magma that hit it.

---

Cal's grin flickered for a moment. A sub-human, was she? Indeed, a voice curled into her head and the grin came back, Let's show him how much so we really are.

Watching David through the mist she fueled out, she let seep from her skin crawlers, long armed and backwards. Silently dropping them around him, they contorted themselves, twisting and cracking with sickening noises. Cal pulled their strings well, letting them drift in and out of the mist, poking, but not harming David in the process as others surfaced and went under.

"I am your flesh, David. I am your bones, I need not work on you to pull you under my control. I own you, I am your savior and end. Every fear and doubt stems itself from your own soul. How can you neglect what is already in your own heart? "

Axel took a deep breath, glancing out from behind his turret. He saw Lizzie's shield getting bigger. Dammit, the magma's only adding it. So things that touch what she touches are also affected...

"
Hey, Lizzie! Let's stop this, what's even happening?!?" Axel yelled, after stopping his fire.

Walking out from behind his Vulcan Turret, he pat the fat lizard on it's belly amiably, dispelling the golem and reducing it to stone and magma once more. The worried look in the golem's eye as it's master dispelled it was touching, as Axel sometimes accidentally gave his golems emotion and limited sentience. The Vulcan Turret's last thought was that there was nothing defending it's master anymore. It prayed it's master would survive to create it anew, to defend him once more.

"
Aren't we on the same side?" He asked, blinking, a forced smile on his face despite his knees shaking ever so slightly.

~~~
David growled as the dark appendages poked at him from the mist. Snapping his fingers, a purple glow emanating from his shadowy claw, he made himself the centre of gravity for the immediate area. As the dark things were drawn from he mist, shadow tendrils shot up from David's shadow, skewering them like kabobs. As Cal was dragged towards him, a clawed hand grabbed at her neck, holding her out before him, off the ground, his grip tightening.
"
Any last words?" He growled into her face, his new snout inches from her lips.
Lizzie paused for a moment, listening to Axel. Of course, in the past that was true. They had been on the same side. A sly grin of mischeif crossed her face. Creeping from around her shield, she looked down at him.
"I suppose we can play that game." She cooed softly, cocking her head ever so slightly to the left.
----
"Look...up." Cal managed to wheeze out.
She hadn't closed her rift, and directly above, just a bit too large to fit all the way through the portal was a massive demon locked onto David. Blood and saliva dripped from it's massive jaws that were twisted into a sickening grin. Setting it's hands on the ground, the clawed, razor sharp fingers that jutted off of it dug into the floor. It's entire body was twisted upwards, long stomach of hard stone, carved through with Meido's markings shining in blood. It's flesh was a pure white, and it looked starved.
Even Cal's stomach lurched as she looked at the thing, meido giggling wildly in her head.
Axel swallowed nervously, looking into Lizzie's now-demonic eyes.
"
What.... What happened, why are you three here, and what's wrong with you?" Axel asked, his voice cracking halfway through the sentence as he realized from what Lizzie had just said, this had been a terrible idea. There was probably no trace of her left, the eyes, although piercing and predatorial, screamed of emptiness.
~~~

Tossing Cal at the wall like a doll, David stepped back from the monster, taking a deep breath. The stench of it's blood was strong. It reeked of Meido's magic.

Suddenly leaping forward, David punched out, shadowy tendrils launching from his arm as he flew towards the gigantic woman-like monster, aiming to pierce it's disgusting form. At the same time, he multiplied it's gravity by ten with his other arm casting Magia Gravitas, hoping it would struggle under it's own weight and not be able to counterattack.

"What do you mean, what happened?" Lizzie said curiously. Perching herself into a sitting position for a moment, she dropped herself down onto the ground in front of Axel. She smiled like she was a friend, "And we were sent here just like you two were."

She moved around him in a circle, hands clasped behind her back as she examined him. "I mean, this is where Tybolt wanted us to go. We've been going here for about two weeks now. " Stopping behind him, she hugged him loosely, letting her form drift back to the girl that she wasn't.

"And nothing's wrong with me, " SHe said softly, placing her hands over his eyes. "Can't you see that?" In a rash move of brutality, her act of friend ended, claws coming out as she ran them over his eyes, ripping them out before moving away from him. Flicking the orbs off into the magma, she grinned. "Guess you can't..." Turning on heel, she examined the smoke that covered where David and Cal had been.

Moving towards the smoke she didn't see the bloody Cal until the woman had hit her full on in a charge, radiating off purple smoke. She squawked, falling to the ground. Cal landed on top of her, a hand around her throat, the other fist raised, poised with a dark purple glow. With a twist of her hand, Cal had produced cipher from the blind and had ripped it down into the woman's shoulder, pinning her tightly into the ground. She leaned in hard, pressing against hte blade until her face was a mere inch from Lizzie's.

"You don't touch what's mine."

She twisted her blade, separating the arm from Lizzie's torso. Blood dripped from her face, and her breathing wasn't normal, and her movements were panged with flinches of broken ribs or worse. But she still glared down at the red head, almost daring her to move despite the fact the eyes had rolled back into lala land the second the nerves were ripped apart.

----

Within the smoke, the thing pressed itself farther down as it's weight amplified. But it didn't do much for the thing, as it raised it's hand, clipping David in the side, removing his legs. Snarling, it picked up the severed piece, eating it, before making a noise of sheer disgust. The treat was tainted, poison. But it still had the other half to go. Glaring down at David, it opened it's mouth to eat the rest of him, it turned into a rough smoke before disappearing as a whole. Cal was out of juice.

-All those maimed in this post were done so with explicit permission and/or were requested to happen by the owner of the characters-

David felt his legs being removed rather violently, and then suddenly felt the ground hit his face rather hard.

Oh.

He'd fallen.

He saw the black shadows creeping down his torso, sealing the wound, and then saw nothing as the darkness of unconsciousness claimed him.

~~~
Screaming in pain as blood and viscous liquid dripped from his eye sockets, Axel tried his best to stand up. Shutting what remained of his eye-lids as tight as they would do, he climbed up to his knees and tilted his head back slightly, hoping the liquids wouldn't leak out as fast. He whimpered, in a world of total darkness as he sat, swallowing back the vomit that kept creeping it's way slowly up his throat.
"
C-Cal... Cal!" He called out weakly, hoping against hope that she was okay, at least alive... The fear of the worst crept up into him. David and Lizzie weren't the same... They would kill her...
Hearing Axel, Cal shoved her blade into Lizzie's other shoulder, keeping her down despite the lack of movement. Climbing over her body, she moved towards her partner. Setting a hand on his back as she reached him, she shused him softly.
"It's okay, it's okay, just keep breathing for me." She muttered, silently cursing herself for not listening to her mother about learning some healing spells. Fuck, what do I do?
"We have to get you back to The Sanctuary. I know it's a long shot, but it's all we've got right now. "
Whimpering a little more as Cal appeared behind him, Axel nodded, a weak smile crossing his face. "... You beat both of them, didn't you? I can.... I can always count on you being a badass." He squeaked out, a chuckled devolving into a whimper of pain sneaking it's way past his lips.
Appearing behind the Resistance duo in a flash of light, Hope Astrumregis chuckled.
"
I knew waiting it out was the best idea. Now you two are helpless. Not that you could have stood against me anyways." He preached, seeming to gently shove Cal aside, but magically putting force into the movement. Not enough to send her flying, just enough to send her to the ground.
"
It's nice to finally make your acquaintance, Axel Forghen, and Calandra Porter of Sanctuary. I am Hope Astrumregis, and today, I will be your saviour, and the harbinger of your doom." He spoke confidently, placing a hand on Axel's head, the bleeding stopping. Hope didn't heal his eyes, but sealed the wound, and Axel's eye-sockets. Stepping away from Axel, and towards Cal, he snapped, a flowing blade of platinum growing itself from his hand, embedding itself in the ground beside Cal's head.
"
There is no escape the way you came. My squad of Platinum Angels is guarding the entrance. You two will accompany me down the stairs, watch helplessly as I acquire the artifact present, and came quietly with me back to Nightrise HQ. Understood?" He questioned Cal, as Axel listened in, relieved of pain but still deprived of sight. He could somewhat sense his surroundings, but being in the dark completely left his still stunned and not sure what to do.
Cal almost growled as she was pushed away from Axel. Staring up at the man who had stepped in, however, she held back. Not even phased by the blade next to her head, a soft grin fell over her lips. Meido was buzzing again, softly.
"We've not a choice but to understand."
Hope rolled his eyes. What a fool this girl thought he must be.
"
Miss Porter, I'll have you know that I don't believe a word that just left your pretty little lips. While weakened right now, I already have an understanding on exactly how reckless and resourceful you are. But let me assure you, any stunt you try to pull right now will only end in further suffering, not for you, but for your little boyfriend here. What was it that you said a moment ago? 'Don't touch what's mine', or something along those lines? I hate to use a hostage, but your nature leaves me with very little choice. Now, start walking down those stairs." He barked his order like a man born and raised in a militaristic culture, a sly, all-knowing grin on his face as he waved a hand, picking Axel up with a magical bubble of light, the Resistance member floating suspended in the air behind Hope, unable to communicate with the outside world.
The platinum haired, white-suit wearing Nightrise commander simply pointed at the stairs, motioning for Cal to get moving.
He wasn't a patient man.
"Good, because I don't believe any of it either. " She grinned more, moving herself down the stairs like a good little puppet. Hell, she even kept her hands out for good show. "Oh, and my nature leaves you plenty of choices. For one, don't be an ass. Trust that we don't really want to kill you, not unless we absolutely have to. Peace is, quite frankly, what we aim for. " She shrugged, as she moved down the stairs. Of course, she was testing his patience, she could really care less if he knew the resistance's goal or not, she knew it didn't matter to him. But just to see how much it made him tick, and slightly, on the side of meido, there was hope Tybolt would hear her.
"But all the same, I thank you for thinking of a poor little gal like me in such high regards. I'm sure I'm noting compared to the general group you have in your wings."
"As much as I enjoy the mindless banter of a desperate mage, Miss Porter, please keep your lips closed for the remainder of the evening, unless I ask a question of you." Hope said with a smile, himself and Axel in the bubble following Cal closely, his platinum sword ready in his hand.
The unlikely trio going down the stairs, they stepped out into a massive chamber, even bigger than the amphitheatre. It's platform was very small, just about 100 feet by 100 feet, and on the platform sat an altar. The rest of the chamber was filled with magma, supposedly powering the glowing altar. A shield erected around it, upon the altar sat the shrivelled body of what seemed to be a woman, but with demonic horns and marking on her skin.
Standing before the altar, was Tybalt. Grinning like a madman, his canine teeth elongated, he held the glowing scroll up before the altar as the shield slowly weakened.
"
Welcome, weak little boy, cocky young man, and the love of my life. Welcome to my resurrection." Despair's voice echoed, as Hope narrowed his eyes.
"
What kind of desperate beings you mages are, trying to resurrect a demon...." He let slip, shaking his head. "You've fallen into depravity."
Tybalt chuckled, pointing at Cal.
"
Lady Despair wants you to step forward, Calandra." He spat, hissing his words as scales grew on his skin.
