"Oh, well it's Saturday now, and the store is closed on Sundays... So tomrow afternoon if that's not too fast, really any night works for me.." Neal frowned at Heito reaching for his wallet, He pulled out his own and sorted out some bills. "Please I took you to my friend's restaurant. AND you are planing on cooking for me. Like I could let you pay." Neal rolled his eyes at Heito. "Silly you." Neal smiled setting the cash down on the table. They didn't have the check yet, but it was roughly the right amount. Neal always had cash on hand since that's how most people paid for books.

"Then tomorrow afternoon it is." Heito smiled gently then blinked, watching Neal take out his wallet with a shaken head. "Neal, don't worry about it. It has been a long time since I have been out.... to do anything except sit in my office and not live. Let me pay." He put his hand out and slowly pushed the cash back across the table to Neal with an apologetic smile. He wanted to give back to him for having shown him such a nice time, and he still felt indebted for making him fall and breaking his shelf.

"Let me spoil somebody, please?"
(If you need to take a break, just let me know. D: I hope everything is better now. 3:)

Neal took the cash back. "Well if you are going to cook AND pay then I would say you were spoiling me." He teased putting his wallet away, "You don't spoil your kids?" He said thinking over what Heito had said. "OR you can't, because your wife won't let you?" Neal said as the waiter who handed the check to Heito seeing the plastic out, it was like these people could sense the awkward check dance typically done on dates. Not that this was a date. Neal got his crutches ready while he thought, he didn't like being treated like a child so if Heito was spoiling him instead of his kids then he wasn't sure how he felt about that, but that didn't seem to be Heito's goal, he was just a really really nice guy. Neal smiled. "Next time I'm paying.

"I uhm..." Heito cleared his throat before looking down at the check, then handing the card to the waiter and cleaning up some before finishing. "...I used too. However, I found she was taking the kids gifts and selling them. Now she won't let me do anything for the kids. I.. haven't seen them in months." Heito stood then took the card from the waiter, once the bill was paid, and gave a sad smile and nod to him as Heito put his coat on.

"But.. that will change. The kids understand, and they aren't happy there. When they turn 18, they are coming to live with me to go to school. They will get what they deserve then." Heito almost wanted to cry, but smiled and nodded to Neal.

"Yes. Next time you can pay."

Neal frowned "That's really awful, I mean they aren't just her kids, she sounds like a real witch that one." Neal headed for the door at an easy pace, "Good job at divorcing her. Your kinds sound like they have more dad in them them mom, good for them, I bet your son is handsome too." Neal was good at keeping a pretty even normal walking pace but he preferred it when he was let set the pace of whomever he was walking with, as long as they didn't make a deal out of it.

"Well, I don't dwell on it. It will only disappoint me. I've learned to forget about it... when she isn't calling me of course. And thank you, I think." Heito smirks and walks beside Neal, keeping pace with him, but walks a little quicker to get to the door before him and hold it open so he may walk out. He gives a small smile as he exits, then slowly shuts the door behind them and continues walking beside Neal.

"Did you have a nice night, Neal? I hope I didn't bore you entirely too much."

"Bore me? No, though if you did -which you certainly did not- I wouldn't count it as bad. Boring people isn't a bad trait as long as you are passionate about the subject." Neal thought for a second, realizing that he was not making any sense. "Though passion is rarely boring." He said allowing Heito to open the door for him. He didn't always like it when people did that but it was okay. This time it was okay. Neal headed forward towards his apartment.

Heito smiled at Neal walked by his side back towards his apartment after a lovely evening out and about. They had already made plans again to see a movie at Neal's place, which seemed really soon, but also too far away in the future. With a nod, Heito looked over at Neal before sticking his hands in his own pockets and then looking up at the path ahead. He still needed to get back to the office and drive his car back home, which wouldn't be too bad considering it was a weekend.

Heito chuckled at the idea of their new friendship and how well it seemed to be going so far and how he could only imagine how much longer it would be until someone messed something up and the entire thing fell apart. Heito wasn't the most trusting when it came to any kind of friendship or relationship. After a while, he had learned to distance himself, but it all changed when Neal came. Suddenly, it felt as though he needed someone in his life other than his secretary.

Neal stopped at his apartment and suddenly he felt like a girl being dropped off after Prom. But in a good way. "Well this is me..." He said looking up at the Apartment. "Tomorrow at 9?" He asked thinking about what he would have to do to make his Home presentable, it was always clean but he always worried that it looked like a mess. "I mean If that's good." He chewed the inside of his mouth looking around at the sidewalk, his cheeks were flushed but not from the slightly nippy air. "I had a really good time. Really good." Neal just wanted to keep tallying he didn't want to make Heito Leave.

"Tomorrow at nine sounds doable." Heito shined a smile down at Neal as he stood in front of his residence and waited for him to walk in as he thought it rude if he were the first to walk off. He snickered lightly when he saw Neal's cheeks and his eyes trailed to Neal's lips for a moment as he talked. He'd had this dream, though it ended much differently, and he'd had the urge to plant a gentle kiss on him, but as soon as those thoughts rushed through his mind, as quick as they came, Heito had pushed them out and looked back up to Neal's eyes.

"Thank you for taking me out, Neal. It was a wonderful distraction." He'd wanted to say 'You were a wonderful distraction.' but, of course, he wouldn't because he still felt awkward enough thinking what he had.

Neal smiled and nodded. "Right. I um, Okay that's a good thing anytime you need distracting." Neal leaned one of his crutches against the wall and held his hand out to Heito. A handshake was friendly but not as friendly as a hug or other thing. So it would work. "Will goodnight Heito, I had a wonderful time distracting you, try not to get to wound up before tomrow." He joked. "Or I will have my work cut out distancing you again.

"Goodnight, Neal. I'll try to remain calm." Heito laughed lightly and took Neal's hand to shake it slowly. He had looked at Neal for a little minute too long before taking his hand back and clearing his throat lightly and looking down at the ground. As he backed up some and turned to walk up the street to his office, he smiled at Neal and bowed his head lightly.

"I look forward to tomorrow." Heito chuckled again then turned back around, nearly walking into a fire hydrant, and then chuckled and side stepped to begin walking the path to the office. He still needed to get his car from the garage and felt he could use the drive home. He didn't want the evening to be ruined by passerby's on the subway. He felt an evening drive with him and himself would be just fine.

Neal watched Heito until he caught himself and shook it all off. It was creepy and totally uncalled for. He slipped up to his 2nd floor apartment with out incident, though how could there be? there was no one else in the elevator. The whole apartment building was 4 stories, and totally handicapped accessible. Neal liked that they made these, whole buildings for people who needed it. It was a whole lot easier than finding an apartment and modifying it to fit needs, this particular building was billed for younger people, and he loved that too, normally when people heard "Handicapped accessible" they thought of walking frames and old men with big glasses in wheelchairs. Neal snorted as he flopped into bed.

The walk to the car was nothing less than enjoyable and Heito whistled or hummed most the way with a smile etched onto his face. He'd never felt this happy before and it was all because of a date... or.... an evening out with a friend. Heito chuckled as he walked up to the office buildings and took a left to head to his car so he may drive it back home. He was surprised when he saw another car in the parking space, but he didn't think anything of it and got the keys out of his pocket and leaned over lightly to unlock his vehicle. However, the car wasn't empty and was sheltering the snubbed ex-employee that had been fired to walking out of the meeting. He had been made a fool of and had planned on taking what he deserved.

The former employee had climbed out of his car and walked over to Heito and smashed a wooden baseball bat over his head. Heito grunted and fell to the ground with a thud while the disgruntled man trifled through Heito's things and his car. He stole his credit cards, the money in his wallet, and a few items from his car and left, not before scratching a very angry note into the side of Heito's car and spitting on his face. Heito laid on the concrete unconscious while the man left in attempt to empty the bank account with Heito's card.

Neal didn't sleep or dream as well that night. He kept having Les Mis related dreams about Heito and him. And they weren't Cosette and Marius in the dreams either. They were, Javert, and Fautine, and Epione.... Neal woke in a sweat for the millionth time and resigned himself that he was going to cry tomrow, or today it was passed midnight., that he was going to cry at 'little fall of Rain' He shook it off and looked at his window. It was raining. Great.

(If you haven't seen Les Mis Cosette and Marius are the only two characters to survive the movie.)

"I... need an ambulance at the...." He wheezes lightly and the phone drops to hit the concrete. The ambulance operator calls out, "Hello?" a few times before tracking the number and cellphone then sending an ambulance. As the rain starts picking up, the ambulance blares its horn and turns up the street to the garage and pulls in. Heito had opened his eyes for only a moment before he heard the police sirens and saw the flashing lights, a man kneeling down over him, and then he was unconscious again. The police stood around where Heito was laying and took pictures and dusted around his car for a while before taking Heito's I.D. and identifying him before he was loaded into the back of the ambulance and the sirens went racing down the street to the hospital.

From the start, it was obvious to the police what happened, and they would just need to have Heito identify who it might have been when he woke up. The police had already gotten a hold of Heito's secretary and called her in for Heito. They had him hooked up to an I.V. and a heart monitor. A nurse came in periodically to check in on him and some doctors would check vitals to make sure he was stable. So far he was, but he was very sick and if he'd been out any longer he would have caught Hypothermia. Right now, it seemed he just caught a bad cold and fever. Lyla sat by his bed in her overly baggy sweatshirt and held onto Heito's hand as she waited for him to wake up.

Neal Made popcorn while he waited, he had changed clothes for the millionth time and had his 7th -8th?- shower. He set one crutch down as he hobbled over to the TV and got to the DVD menu of Les Mis, put the volume on the optimal level, he like it a little loud but he didn't want to blast Heito's ears. And the he straightened the pillows and waited.

And Waited.

He wasn't sure if he should call.... Heito didn't seem like the type to do this.

Neal ate the popcorn and watched the Menu screen until the loop started to drive him loopy he turned off the TV and threw the remote down. He stared at the popcorn bowl and then at the clock.

"You know what?" He said to his empty apartment

"F*ck it." He grabbed his phone and dialed.

Heito had finally come to consciousness after many hours of no sign of life other than breathing, which was a good sign. His secretary had stayed by Heito's side for most of the time, except when she left to use the restroom or get coffee and food. The doctors were in and out to check his vitals. When Heito had come too, he was sick and barely able to talk. The doctors and nurses had to fill him with liquids to hydrate him and Lyla had gotten worried when his fever spiked to 110 degrees.

Heito's phone rang and Lyla looked at the vibrating phone before quickly reaching over and answering the phone.

"H-Hello. Heito's office speaking. How can I help you?" Lyla's voice was tired and shaky from nerves and caffiene intake. She really didn't know who was on the phone, but knew it was an important contact because of the star beside the name and ringtone. He kept the same ringtone for all important people.

"It's Neal? Lyla? uh.... right I had a Da-" Neal bit his lip, was he really about to say date? no it was a movie and a women answered his phone- it could be his secretory? or his ex-wife.... he never said what her name was did he? It wasn't a date in any case... Heito wasn't gay. The realization of what he already knew hit Neal like a load of homophobic bricks. Neal shook it off, Heito wasn't homophobic... but he wasn't gay. "Never mind, just tell him I called...."

"Did you need to set an appointment, Mr. Neal? I apologize for any inconvenience. He'd gotten into a wreck and... Oh, sure. When would be the appropriate time for him to return your call?" Lyla shook her head and closed her eyes. She was distressed, tired, and very annoyed with recent occurrences. It hadn't been the first time a boss had been attacked by a disgruntled ex-employee, but it never got easy when it was this bad. In Lyla's eyes, he was as good as they came. He had to make some decisions that weren't easy, and some could say they were cold, but they were the best for the big picture. Lyla got out a napkin and a pen to write down the details of the call.

Neal furrowed his brow "A wreck? is he okay? I uh... Well he can call at any time, would you mind telling me what happened to him?" Neal scratched at the back of his neck from his position on the couch. He had seen Heito yesterday, it hadn't even been a full twenty-four hours! What could have happened in that time? A lot. A lot could happen in a few minutes.. he looked at his crutches and shook his head, a wreck could mean a lot... or a little... or a lot...

"I am not at liberty to say much, but a disgruntled ex-employee decided that he might release some frustrations. It might be on the news later. He should be fine one healed though. Once he is awake, I can have him call you when he wakes up, Mr. Neal." Lyla sat back in the seat she was provided and stared at Heito. From where she stood, it seemed like Heito would never recover from it, with the breathing tube, I.V.'s, and the cast around his right leg, arm, and torso. However, whatever happened, she would do her best to keep work as civil as possible for his return.

"If there is any urgent business that you need to discuss, then would you like to have him call you when he wakes? I certainly wouldn't want any business he has with you to falter because of an accident."

( :D What play were you in? And what did you do for the science fair? Those are always fun. ^_^ )

"Oh, it was an uhm... a personal call we uh... are sort of... friends?" Neal bit down hard on his lip. "I mean uhm I don't have any business with him... he bought a book from my store...." Neal thought about what Lyla had said, and suddenly "Which hospital?" he demanded. wakes accident... frustrations... Heito was in a coma.

"Oh. Uhm... Well.." Lyla thought for a long while until swallowing then looking at Heito and putting away the pen and napkin she had gotten out. She wouldn't usually give out her bosses location like this, but she felt she could make an exception. She grabbed a notepad that was near Heito's bed and then read the name. "Uhm... St. Ivy Memorial Hospital. They are very strict with visitation. I was only able to come in because I was listed as an emergency contact. Usually they only allow immediate family members." Lyla spoke softly and she often had to take breaks to clear her throat between sentences.

"Okay, no I know about visitation...." Neal bit his lip and got up, he went to his room and threw on some old track pants and put the phone on speaker. "What room? I'm going to have to hang up in a sec, I can't talk on the phone and walk.... Uh... I mean..." Neal cleared his throat, he had never met Lyla before and she didn't know about the... walking assist.. she would think he was dumb. He pulled on a sweatshirt and looked himself over, he looked like he could be at the hospital for his own reasons so he could probably walk in, maybe, it was morally wrong but Neal really just needed to see Heito. He cleared his throat, "What was the room number?"
