I'll take both islands, but not the mainland. Now get away with your flags of conquering before I unleash the power Labinian Royal Armed Service and take your territory.
 
Varðveita will stand neutral upon ill willingly treaded upon, no conquering on either side, period.
 
I encourage everyone to post history and current statuses of your nations here so that we can all actively try to tie it all together and eventually develop a conflict.

History:


The complete history of Labinia is a rather complex and lengthy one, if not more. The two islands making up the Sovereign Republic had previously been left mainly uninhabited, with only a few tribes being noted to exist within the Southern Regions of The Sunderlands. During 892 A.D., the Babilinkian Imperium had begun operations focusing on the abduction of male tribesmen to serve as general labour, gladiators and warrior slaves. In 941 A.D., a revolt was launched against the Imperium by several of The Sunderlands most dominant tribes. The revolt ultimately proved victorious for the tribes mainly due to the fact that the Babs had forced 16,900 warrior slaves - most of them from The Sunderlands - to fight on the front lines. The final outcome was Sunderland independence and the intergration of several races from across the continents. To compensate for the sudden increase of population, many Sunderland tribes began the colonisation of the island located across the Southern Coast. Both islands were later unified to form what is now known as Labinia.

History: Before the land that is now Varðveita became a concrete nation the people there lived a nomadic life on the mainland, and a fisherman eskimo like lifestyle on the northern islands. Eventually people in the south became more settled and formed a more agricultural culture. A wall was built splitting the nation in two in order to segregate the sophisticated south from the “savage” north. The south became a society heavily based off class and even forced labour. It took a civil war and multiple revolts to overthrow the autocracy and tear down the border between south and north. This is how the commonwealth militia was formed, and it came to change how the country was ruled. Firsty democracy was put into it’s place, a leader would be chosen by the people via vote and then their decisions would be voted on by people as well, but the leader always makes the final decision regardless of public votes. WIP

The south is mostly covered with farmlands and expansive pine forests while central and northern parts of the nation is more of an arid tundra with smaller more scattered forests. The coasts are generally rocky but turns into more of a slope of slate further up north.

Culture:


 

Something important to note about the Valarian culture is that equality between men and women as well as ethnic groups is very important and they can’t stress that enough.


Old culture is still endorsed throughout the entire nation and dancing has throughout history been a key cultural aspect of the Valarian people. It’s always been paired with traditional flutes, four stringed guitars and drums. With the introduction of recorded music guitars have become a lot more prevalent in the music world and a form of guitar paired with singing has become very popular.


 

Most people still have bear, reindeer, wolf or any other kind of pelts in their home for decoration, as well  as classic open fireplaces. Wooden cabins are very common up north, where people still herd reindeer and live of the land on a large scale. Even the home of the supreme chief of state in the central parts of Ryydj is decorated with pelts and traditional wooden furniture.


 

Both men and women usually wear boots both in the summer in winter since it’s always either cold or muddy. A pair of tight lined pants with a pair of baggier thinner pants on top of that are needed to handle the cold, especially in the north and during the winter months. Both men and women (More often men though) wear suspenders overtop traditional colorful cold resistant shirts paired with thick lined pelt jackets and traditional hats. In the inner cities dull shirts paired with suspenders and either fur coats or trench coats are considered much more fashionable.


 

Army:


The armed forces relies completely on volontaires as long as the situation isn’t extremely dire.
