Wonder City
By: The Dark Wizard & Captain Hesperus
“Welcome to Wonder City, the dream of the Future!
This city is a marvel of beyond-the-bleeding-edge technology, every aspect of the city’s functions is controlled by an advanced modular AI known as The Director with distinct artificial personalities to cater to all aspects of the citizens' lives, from sanitation and transportation through scientific advances and civic excellence. Why, even the police force is AI-controlled!
Many companies have moved offices, manufacturing and research facilities into the great dome of Wonder City, bringing with them staff and their families to bask in the warm glow of the artificial (and entirely safe!) sunlight provided by the city. Since the individual AIs have no bias and no need for incentives, they are often employed by the various companies within Wonder City to assist in the company’s corporate activities, safe in the knowledge that the AIs will not misuse the information they are exposed to, due to the protective Morality Matrix provided by their constant contact with the Hub 2.0 integrated Artificial Intelligence Central Processor.
The designers of Wonder City have the strong belief that it will become the model for future city planning and already have plans to create more such cities across the globe.
So don’t delay, apply today!”

- The Courtesies of RPing in Wonder City
- The year is 2210. 3 weeks ago, DEFENSE Director declared a state of emergency and imposed Martial Law on everyone in Wonder City. You were ordered to return to your homes and you were ordered to stay there until further notice, and you were told to stay calm and keep yourselves cheerful. CIVIC Director began running back-to-back classic movies on TV and informed you that if you were short of food, Wonder City would deliver free supplies to last through the state of emergency. Then suddenly, there was an explosion. A fire could be seen burning at Wonder Tower, where the A.I Hub was located, and the movies stopped. The updates about the state of emergency stopped. The food deliveries stopped. Everything stopped.
Then the screaming started.
Throughout the city, people started to become aggressive, fighting each other, killing each other. Except those who were killed didn’t stay killed. They got back up. They healed and they killed others. Soon the streets were filled with the dead, all of them seeking fresh meat to eat. As survivors, you were somehow immune to the effects of whatever has consumed the people of Wonder City. For the past three weeks, you have fought a daily battle for survival against the wandering mobs of zombies. You have found weapon caches, perhaps others had survived and built up these supplies, perhaps DEFENSE Director had put them in place as a last resort? You didn’t know and you didn’t care. All that concerned you was staying alive. Then you found the others. Fellow survivors, you banded together out of a shared desire to escape the madness. Escape the zombies. - The year is 2210. 3 weeks ago, the government lost contact with the retro 1950s experimental domed community, Wonder City. It was unknown why the city suddenly ‘went dark’, all lines of communication and transportation were suddenly and inexplicably sealed, even the hardline coms channel to the AI Hub went silent. It was thus decided to send in a team of investigators, a mix of scientists and military personnel, to discover the cause of Wonder City’s silence.

CIVIC Director
The CIVIC Director AI is designed to be the sounding board for all matters that affected the citizens of Wonder City, be they environmental, city planning, parking and recreational spaces or any other factors that affect the common lives of the citizenry. She (since all the AIs were given genders to better associate them to the people of Wonder City) materializes as a slightly shorter than average woman with red hair, a neat burgundy trouser suit and a rose lapel pin in the shape of the Wonder City dome. CIVIC’s primary job is to address the issues of the population and coordinate with the other Directors to make an amicable compromise.
DEFENCE Director
This AI is the one responsible for law enforcement and civilian safety within Wonder City. It controls the police force, both human and drone units, by means of the city’s internal communication system, powered by the Hub 2.0 hyper-network. He is able to coordinate all the drones within the city and seamlessly interact with all the human officers to provide almost instantaneous real-time threat assessments to any situation. He materializes as an older man in a blue Wonder City PD uniform with grey hair and a bushy mustache. He also has the capability to lock the city down in response to internal or external emergencies, though he has never encountered any situation that he could not handle without this extreme measure.
SCIENCE Director
The massive emphasis of technological and scientific advancement within Wonder City made the creation of a Director AI important to assist (and covertly monitor) these developments and test them against a morality mainframe to ensure that they are for the betterment of mankind. SCIENCE Director is designed to be totally impartial, his thoughts and actions controlled only by his desire to improve scientific knowledge. To this end, many companies use SCIENCE Director’s vast processing power to assist in their projects, safe in the knowledge that with his morality mainframe he would not share their secrets with rival companies, nor abuse the data himself. He materializes as a tall albino-like man in a pristine labcoat over white scrubs.
MEDIA Director
Of course, the city needs to be kept abreast of developments in the city and in the greater world outside and this falls to MEDIA Director. She is capable of monitoring all the major media networks worldwide, watching all the developing stories as they unfold and delivering them in bulletins to the citizens using the city-wide data screens and through the use of e-newspapers, disposable PDA-like devices that would link up to the MEDIA network and could be customized to provide news stories that the user was interested in. MEDIA also manages entertainment on TV, cinemas and, in conjunction with CIVIC, art shows and theatrical events. Media materializes as a young Oriental woman with vivid green hair and poodle skirt with a white blouse, green button-up sweater, black flats and white bobby socks.
UTILITY Director
In every city there is just some things that cannot be ignored, such as sanitation, power and water. This is the purview of UTILITY Director. He manages all aspects of the lower needs of Wonder City, the water supply into and out of every building, the supply of electricity and gas, the air quality and supply within the dome and the processing (or reprocessing) of the water products created by the hundreds of thousands of citizens and businesses. UTILITY manages the maintenance crews that make repairs on the roads and buildings of the city, that replace the bulbs in the street lights, unblock the drains and rake the leaves in the parks. He is content in his tasks, often disconnecting from the Hub for days on end to micro-manage his teams. On the rare occasions he materializes, he is an older, balding brown-haired man in a brown overall and heavy boots with a workman’s reserve and a reclusive attitude.
INNOVATION Director
In Wonder City, innovation is the watchword of every person in every business. This is the reason that the city has been at the forefront of pretty much every major advancement in our modern society. And that is, in part, due to the tireless efforts of INNOVATION Director. This new, second generation AI was created with a purview so broad it is almost boundless. His AI functionality was to produce forward-thinking ideas, to ‘think outside the box’ and create new solutions for current problems. He also has a hyper-linking facility allowing him to enter into a tightly-meshed network with the other Directors to enhance their own problem-solving abilities and ‘lending them a little innovation’. Another function of his programming and hyper-linking is to perform scans on the other AI’s cores, seeking out errors and faults to remove and eradicate. His purpose as a maintainer of the other Director AI’s core programming means he is well-liked by all the citizens of Wonder City. At the time of his creation, he decided to materialize as a mid-teens boy with auburn hair, an orange preppy jacket and cream chino pants.
1. Military players are meant to start off with better equipment. Survivor stuff can be counted as Tier 1, military as Tier 2. In the game, both teams will find items from both tiers and, rarely, tier 3 along with other misc items.
2. Reloading is an entire action in a post.
3. Military starts with 200 extra rounds of ammunition for the weapons of their choice. For instance: Gun 1(50 ammo) Gun 2(5 ammo) 200 extra rounds to be used for reloading.
3. Survivors get 50 extra rounds between their pistol and primary weapons.
4. Movement is not affected by most actions and can be performed while performing them, although it cannot be done while using Medical Kits or Field Kits.
5. We are looking for one military group(if you die you must switch to Surivors if you wish to keep playing) and an undetermined amount of Survivors, if we get plenty of people, we can have multiple groups going. They will occasionally meet at the start and through out the RP. Military will be more prepared and loaded and have harder challenges. Survivor will try to survive with less equipment at the beginning til it evens out and they find more items.
1. Please follow the posting template exactly the way it is, size, font and all. Do not create your own variation, we want to keep it uniform for easy reading.
2. Please do not change colors in the middle of the RP with out alerting STs it gets really confusing.
3. Please make sure that you keep track of your equipment in the posting template and understand the combat rules. All it takes is one person to kill this type of RP.
4. Please do not format your post other then using the posting template and colors, or use any fonts other then the default for everything not the posting template at the top.
5. The use of quotations with text in color means dialog. Italics and colors means thoughts, please follow this rule so other players are not confused when RPing with you.
6. Please try to have more then a one liner response to other characters or the envirnment. There is always something to type about in detail, it helps other people's work not feel for naught and keeps the quality of the RP up. Try a paragraph minimum.
These can be updated anytime please stay tuned.
