Realistic or Modern Wolf Now and Forever

"No thanks. I think I can hunt for myself." Night said, internally reminding herself that the wolf wasn't trying to insult her or call her weak, just trying to help... "Oh, and I don't recall your name." She said, trying to distract herself from her rising anger. Bad things happen when she loses control of her powers.

Thorn watched the wolf, and sat down. She kept her head low to the other wolf to try and help her anger. "My name's Thorn. If you'd like I can help with that anger you have. I was born with the gift to be able to call anyone through a means of connection. I'd need your permisson, and you'd also have to allow me to put my paw on you."

Night hesitated. That would mean trusting this unknown wolf... "Do it." She said firmly, sitting down and looking straight at Thorn. "I'm tired of having my anger rule my powers. Help me with my anger. I give you my permission." She spoke, impatient to wet rid of the anger that had plagued her from the moment she was born.

Thorn stayed still for a moment, but got up and walked over to the wolf. She sat down next to her and placed her paw on top of the other wolf's paw. Her eyes closed, and she became extremely focused. Thorn's whole being became calm, and she focused on pushing that through the other wolf. Thorn felt power start to transfer, and felt the anger the other wolf had start to come into her. This was the most anger Thorn had felt from any wolf she had ever done this to. It was almost overwhelming, but the transfer finished just in time. "It is done. It should help you to have better control of your powers now." She said roughly.

The anger, the constant tension that had rode her body was... gone. "Oh my..." Night breathed, a smile spreading over her face. Then she glanced over to Thorn and winced. "I'm sorry... You must have gotten a real blast of it. Are you alright?" It would be just her luck if the wolf who finally helped her deal with her anger got hurt because of it. Got hurt because of her and her selfish wish.

Thorn stood, and straightened herself out. She shook her fur for a moment, and stretched herself out some. Doing that always took a lot out of her, but once she got up and moved she was fine. "Oh, don't be sorry. I'm glad I could help you out. It's the least I could do for you helping with the hunters. I do have to say, that exchange was a lot more massive than I've ever done before. When I do that, I trade me calm energy for the anger inside you." She smiled, and sat down for a moment.

Night had to wince again. "I'm really sorry." She repeated, guilt washing over her once more. "I didn't mean to take your energy, or make you take all my anger... I just wanted a bit more control over my powers, is all. They react to my emotions so when I get angry it just comes out and doesn't stop until everything around me is..." Night stopped before finishing her thought. Best not to even think about it. Besides, she was sharing too much with this wolf. They had just met, after all.

Thorn smiled, and wagged her tail. "Really, there's no need to be. I promise, I'm fine now. With my powers it just absorbs the anger and destroys it. It does no harm to me after that. Plus you deserve to be able to have control, every wolf with powers should. I try and help every wolf I meet with anger that they have, whether they have a lot or a little. Doesn't make a difference." Thorn stood again. She hoped that this would help the wolf with her powers, whatever they were and whatever they did.

"Well... I still want to make it up to you. I'm a great hunter, would you like something to eat? I can catch anything." She said eagerly, only the tiniest hint of boasting in her voice. With her anger gone, it was like years had melted off her personality. She had been forced to grow up much too early because of her powers and now that they were controllable, she was able to experience that which she had missed all her life. Companionship.

Thorn got up, and pranced around happily. She smiled, and wagged her tail more than she had. She'd been running from those hunters for days now, and hadn't been able to hunt. "I would love something to eat actually. I'm starving. Those hunters wouldn't give me the chance to hunt anything." She jumped around happily, and with lots of energy. She loved being able to not have to worry about the hunters.

"Awesome!" Night cheered and instantly ran off into the woods, her steps silent as she sank into her hunting mode. No longer exuberant or cheerful, she surveyed the forest before her with intense scrutiny as she looked for the closest prey. Assuming that deer was alright with Thorn, she loped off in the direction of the herd she had scented, carefully staying downwind of them. Crouching down, she slowly inched closer until she was no more then a few meters away. Then she activated her power and sank into the shadows, becoming nothing more then a phantasm. Still cloaked in shadows, she stepped closer and closer to her prey, the deer still blissfully unaware of the predator in their midst. Then with the grace of a hunting bird, she struck. The deer she had chosen fell to the ground instantly while the others ran off in a panic.

After the other wolf ran into the forest Thorn decided to lay down for a bit. She watched from where she was as the wolf started to stalk a herd of deer, and the n she was gone. Thorn thought for a second, and decided that that must have been her power that she had been talking about. It seemed like a more useful power than the one she had. Thorn laid her head down on her paws, and once she did she heard all the deer start to run in panic away from where the wolf had killed one of their herd.

Securing the deer, Night quickly made her way back to where Thorn was waiting. "Here, I hope this will be enough!" She said brightly, flushed with the excitement of the hunt. "I could always get more, maybe not deer but I know there are some rabbits around here and some other stuff." She shut herself up, sternly reminding herself that she was blabbering. But the thing was, she was just so excited that there was another wolf here, and she wasn't constantly angry or alone. It was pure euphoria for her and she was basking in it.

Thorn got up when she heard Night start to come back with the deer. She was happy to see that she was going to be able to eat again. The thought of the deer made her stomach growl. "This should be plenty. I can't thank you enough for this, I can't wait to dig in. Aren't you going to have some? It is your kill after all, I'd feel bad if I was the only one who ate it and didn't even help you to get it. Besides you have to be a little bit hungry after the fight."

Night shrugged, her tail wagging furiously as she sat down next to the deer. "No, I'm used to going without food for a long time, so I'm not hungry yet." She said cheerfully, not realizing how out of the norm her words were. She never spent much time around other wolves, and so had no idea that her way of life was so different from theirs. She often went without food for a week or two at a time, since she didn't dare hunt around other wolves for fear that they would get angry. Because of that, her stomach had gotten used to the long periods of hunger and she didn't feel hungry anymore.

Thorn wagged her tail, and went over and started to tare into the wolf. She ate until there was no more room in her stomach to have anymore. It had been a long time since she had deer, because she wasn't all that good at finding them. Thorn was more into chasing smaller animals than being sneaky and getting larger animals. "Wow, that's probably pretty useful to be able to do that. I guess my stomach isn't all that used to not having food for extended periods of time."

"Oh, well, I almost starved until I learned how to go hungry. So I don't think you should try it." Night said, watching proudly as Thorn ate the deer. It felt good, providing for others. Was this what packs were all about? Did it always feel this good to be in a pack? Maybe she should try to find one... "Hey Thorn, do you know any nice packs that might take in a wolf like me?" She said a bit hesitantly, not really sure about voicing her thoughts out loud just yet. She still wasn't sure how her control over her emotions was, and she didn't want to endanger anybody by losing control. Maybe she should wander a bit more? But she was so lonely...

Thorn looked up, and turned her head at Night. Had she never been in a pack before? It would make sense to her, because she seems very worried about her powers, and losing control of them. There are plenty of packs that would love to have a wolf like her in their ranks. "I don't know any specifically. I know there is one nearby though. I'm a lone wolf, as I assume you are. You can find packs by just looking for a concentrated smell of wolves. It usually means pack."

"Oh, would you like to come with me?" She said, a bit more excited now that she knew there was a pack nearby. She liked this place, it would be nice to settle down here. Especially with the first friend she had ever made. "I'm sure we can find them together!" Night was too excited to sit still. Bouncing to her feet, she twirled in a circle, her tail wagging furiously. "Although I'm not sure what to do in a pack..." Her tail drooped slightly but then picked up again. "But I'm sure I'll learn!"

Thorn started to bounce around, and wag her tail furiously. She was really happy to have found someone who seemed like they would make a really good friend. Thorn had been in a pack once, but she hadn't been in one for a long time now. She wasn't sure how well she would like it after seeing what happened to her first. The more Thorn thought, the more she became nervous and closed in. "I-I'd love to come with you. Even if only to make sure you find them."

Noticing that Thorn was getting tense all of a sudden, Night frowned. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you or anything... Was it because I talked about packs? Did something happen? I've never been in one, so I don't know if they're good or not..." Her tail stopped wagging and she looked sadly at Thorn. "I'm sorry, we don't have to join a pack if you don't want to, I just thought it would be a good idea, rather then being all alone in this huge world..."

Thorn made herself relax, and lessen the tension in her body. "No, no don't be sorry. It isn't your fault, I was eventually gonna have to face up to it. Yeah, something happend." She sighed. "You don't want to hear my sad story. I'll be fine joining a pack with you. I'll be fine with it after a while I promise." Thorn started to smile again, and became energetic again.

"Oh." Night blinked. "I would love to hear your story. I know that sometimes you just need to get things out and have someone listen. Usually I talk to the moon but I guess now you can talk to me." She smiled at Thorn and sat down, not bouncing or wagging, just still and patient. She was fine listening to Thorn's story, because she really did talk to the moon, all the time in fact. It helped with her loneliness because she imagined that there was a wolf there, listening to her.

Thorn turned her head in interest at Night when she said she talked to the moon. It was something different that she had never heard of before from any other wolf. She thought of it as something cool, it gave something to focus on. Being a lone wolf was hard. Thorn sat down with a huff. "Well, I was originally born into a pack with my family. We were a huge pack, and had a lot of power. One day though the pack was attacked by two of our rivals, and some lone wolves that had joined with them. My mother took me away from the fight, and left me. I never saw them again, and I knew that they had died because I couldn't feel there bonds anymore. It's alright though, I'm here now which is what matters."

"Oh, that's sad." Night whimpered, looking at Thorn. "I never knew my parents and I never had a pack. So at least you have that." She said, trying to comfort the wolf who had helped her so much in just a single day. "And maybe now its time to try again." Her voice sounded hopeful, like that of a small child who hoped that moving to a new school would stop the bullying.
