A vacation was nice in theory. A chance to relax, unwind, and take a step back from responsibility. But in practice, it put Zara on edge. She was never the sort to be inactive. Leave it to her to find ways to be productive, even durning a vacation. So far, she had spent most of the time checking in with the family business from afar and networking. There were a few people worth her time that were also vacationing here, and Zara took her time to get to know them. It was always useful to have connections.

Héctor was a godsend. She and the charming fashion designer clicked instantly when they met. Zara had to admit, she was relieved to find a true friend in this town. Someone who could keep things exciting, make sure she wasn't bored to death.

Speaking of keeping things exciting, this party she'd heard about ought to do the trick. Allegedly there was going to be a party in the penthouse of the lodge, and Zara was eager to attend. She knew Héctor would be down to go as well, so she invited him over to her room in the lodge to get ready together. He had an excellent eye for fashion, she couldn't think of a better getting ready partner.

Zara threw on a silk robe and began her process of getting ready, going through the steps of her skincare routine, knowing that Héctor should be arriving any minute.

POV - Héctor Castillo
The sound of heels clicking against the floors of the lodge could be heard passing through the halls. Those footsteps belonged to none other than Héctor Castillo, well-known designer and current resident staying at the lodge on vacation. Héctor was dressed up in a slick, black and gold button down, some black flared pants with stripes, and black pumps shoes. Very needlessly flashy clothing. But that was what Héctor was all about. Even if he was on vacation, he still needed to remind everybody why he was a famous fashionista.

Héctor sashayed down the halls with his flamboyance radiating off of him. You truly didn't know sass until you met this man. Héctor always carried himself with flare and spice. It was just who he was. A beacon of confidence, no matter who tried to talk down on him. Héctor was carrying a designer duffel bag on his shoulder as he was looking down at his phone. Inside the bag was a bunch of different outfits and accessories that he planned out for his get together with Zara.

Zara and Héctor had plans to head up to the party being held at the penthouse. He was the one who came up with the idea, of course. Asides from designing, Héctor also had a love for going out to unwind at parties, especially the kinds with lots of martinis or smoking hot men. And boy was he a force to be reckoned with should he be presented with both.

Héctor casually sauntered down the hall until he got to Zara's room. Before any partying could go down, the two needed to get all dolled up before hand. Besides, how would they expect to make those heads turn if they weren't looking like gods. Héctor stood in front of Zara's door, hand on his hip as he gave a knock before waiting to be let in.

Kennedy stopped Bryson just as he was about to make his way over to Anthony, a playful smile dancing on her lips. "Hey! He’s going to be working on that for a while," she said, her tone teasing as she dangled his keys in front of him. "He said we’re free to use it... how about the Festival of Lights?" she suggested softly, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

Dressed in a red and white plaid skirt paired with a snug white turtleneck, Kennedy felt both festive and confident. She had a few accessories in mind to complete her look, but she was pretty much ready to go for now. Kennedy had already informed Darcy of her plans, and the excitement bubbled within her.

"Please," she added, her voice laced with flirtation as she gazed at Bryson with a playful glimmer in her eyes. She could feel the chemistry between them, and the prospect of spending the evening together at the festival made her heart race.

Once Bryson agreed, Kennedy let out an excited yelp, her joy radiating as she hurried to finish getting herself ready. The anticipation of the evening filled her with a playful energy as they drove to the festival. Finding a parking spot had been a painstaking endeavor, but that minor hassle quickly faded as they finally arrived.

As they stepped out of the car, Kennedy’s giddiness bubbled over, and she immediately began scanning the area for her niece and nephew. The festival's twinkling lights cast a magical glow, making her feel like they were in their own little fairytale.

With a mischievous grin, she grabbed Bryson's hand, her fingers intertwining with his, and took off running toward some beautifully lit trees that sparkled like stars. "Come on, slowpoke! They have to be around here somewhere!" she teased, glancing back at him with a flirtatious glint in her eye. Laughter spilled from her lips as she pulled him along, feeling a rush of excitement. The festival was alive with colors and sounds, and Kennedy couldn’t wait to share this enchanting experience with her family, all while enjoying the thrill of Bryson by her side.

POV: Bryson Mckdowell

Location: Redfern Autoshop/Festival of Lights

Just as Bryson was about to step into the garage, he felt a gentle grip on his arm...
Turning his head, he found Kennedy standing there, he raised an eyebrow raised in curiosity... A soft chuckle escaped his lips, laced with a mix of ease and lingering nerves..

He watched as she playfully dangled a set of keys in front of him, his throat tightening slightly as he asked,
"Festival of lights?" The concept of a festive celebration, possibly tied to Christmas, intrigued him, but he couldn't shake the thought that he was.. underdressed.
His eyes roamed over her stylish outfit, a stark contrast to his own casual attire, which made him feel like he had just rolled out of bed.
Meeting her gaze, he could see the earnestness in her eyes as she implored him to join her... With a light-hearted laugh, he replied,
"Well... doesn't seem like you're giving me much of a choice, does it?"
The playful banter made him feel a rush of warmth, a sensation he wasn't accustomed to..being so eagerly invited to share in someone else's plans. "Sure, why not?.. If Anthony is really going to be working on my car for a bit, I can spare a few hours," he said, glancing at his watch.
Just as he agreed, Kennedy dashed off, presumably to finish her preparations, leaving him momentarily stunned yet pleasantly surprised by the invitation...

As they drove toward the festival, Bryson gazed out the window, his eyes wide with wonder...
"Beautiful town ya' got here.." he exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine admiration.
A bright smile spread across his face, reminiscent of a child discovering something magical for the first time... The twinkling lights and festive decorations that adorned the streets captivated him, igniting a sense of excitement and curiosity about the evening ahead..
As Bryson got out of the car, he quickly zipped his jacket while casting a curious glance around, as if entering a scene from some sort of.. Hallmark movie.
The streets sparkled with twinkling lights, creating an enchanting atmosphere where groups of people strolled together, hand in hand, their faces glowing with cheerful smiles and animated conversations.

The town exuded a palpable sense of community, enveloping Bryson in a comforting embrace that left him momentarily speechless...
Just as he began to soak in the festive surroundings, he was jolted by Kennedy's sudden grip on his hand, dragging him into the crowd with an unexpected jolt.
"Easy there, turbo!" he exclaimed, his voice tinged with playful sarcasm as she shot back with the familiar tease of calling him a slowpoke.
His brows furrowed in flustered surprise, barely registering her touch as he sighed, finally matching her lively pace, all the while his azure eyes drank in the vibrant scene around him...

The melodious sounds of children's laughter filled his ears, drawing his attention to a gaggle of kids darting around Kennedy, affectionately addressing her as their aunt... A smile crept onto Bryson's face, mirroring the joy radiating from their exuberance, but it turned into an earnest expression as a woman, presumably Darcy, approached..
Recalling Kennedy’s earlier mention of her, he instinctively withdrew his hand from Kennedy's grasp, not wanting to convey any unintended signals...
“Ah..you must be Darcy,” he greeted her with genuine warmth, casting a glance back at the excited children bouncing around Kennedy.
Caught up in the moment, his eyes widened, with a quick clearing of his throat, realizing he hadn’t properly introduced himself...
“I’m Bryson.. the.. new guy in town,” he chuckled nervously, acutely aware of his status as the outsider, a mere traveler whose truck had broken down but now found himself in the midst of a vibrant community, already making connections.. he was still processing it all..

Kennedy's eyes sparkled as she spotted the kids, and the moment she felt his hand slip from hers, she dashed forward to envelop them in a warm embrace. "Oh, I’ve missed you all so much!" she exclaimed, spinning them around with glee. "And everyone, this is Bryson! Uncle Ant is busy working on his truck, and it's Bryson’s first time here. Should we give him a big Redfern welcome?" she added playfully, glancing at him with a hint of flirtation in her eyes.

"Hey, Darce!" she greeted cheerfully. "What’s the plan for this lovely evening? I'm absolutely starving!" As she spoke, she gently set the kids down and draped her arm around Bryson's waist, her petite frame making it easy to lean in closer. A light shrug of her shoulders accompanied her smile as she looked around at her family, feeling a surge of happiness. It had been a while since she found someone intriguing, and Bryson’s mysterious, loner vibe was definitely captivating.

Cora felt exhausted after the long flight from Texas to Revelstoke. Once she and her family checked in, she was relieved to have her own room. She made her way to the lodge's lobby, clutching her notebook where she penned her poetry. Although she was thrilled to be on vacation, the cold weather was not to her liking.

As she settled into the cozy lobby, Cora took a moment to absorb her surroundings. The air was filled with the rich scent of pine and the faint aroma of hot cocoa wafting from a nearby café. The lobby was bustling with life, laughter echoing off the wooden beams and stone fireplace. Families were checking in, their excited chatter mixing with the sound of rolling luggage and the occasional burst of laughter from children eager to explore.

Cora watched as a couple, bundled in bright scarves and mittens, shared a warm embrace before heading to the fireplace to warm their hands. Nearby, a group of friends laughed heartily, their cheerful voices rising above the soft music playing in the background. The crackling of the fire provided a comforting rhythm, punctuating the lively atmosphere.

Feeling inspired, Cora pulled her notebook closer and began to write, capturing the essence of what she was experiencing:

**On Wings of Winter Air**

From Texas skies to mountain peaks,
A journey long, adventure speaks.
Clouds like cotton, soft and bright,
Leading me to a winter's night.

The chill wraps round, a frosty kiss,
In every breath, a whisper of bliss.
Laughter dances like snowflakes in the air,
Echoing stories, memories to share.

The lobby hums with lives intertwined,
Families arriving, their joy unconfined.
With every "hello" and every embrace,
New adventures begin, in this magical place.

A child squeals with delight, eyes wide,
Pointing at the snow through the window, outside.
The world beyond sparkles, a dazzling sight,
Drawing me in, igniting my spirit’s flight.

In this lodge, where warmth and cheer blend,
I find my heart, where dreams ascend.
With pen in hand, I weave my tale,
Of flights and feelings, winds that sail.

Each word a snowflake, unique and free,
Capturing the magic that surrounds me.
In this moment, I embrace the cold,
For in these pages, my stories unfold.

As she wrote, Cora felt her excitement blossom, the words flowing as freely as the snow outside. With each line, she painted the scene around her, intertwining her emotions with the vibrant life of the lodge, feeling more connected to the place and the people who filled it with joy.

now playing: into the sun - sons of the east

Reece didn't know what to expect from the blonde woman standing before him. Would she burst into tears, physically injured from the collision? Would she yell at him in anger? He was unsure of what to do in either case. He had never been good dealing with other people's emotions before, especially women's. That wasn't to say that he hadn't had any long-term girlfriends before - he had previously been in a couple of them, one in high school and one in college. He may have been clueless when it came to women, but he wasn't a total loser. But his assumptions about how the woman would react were completely and utterly wrong. The woman just...called him cute?

That was totally unexpected, but he wasn't hating it. It made him feel good about himself. A cute woman had called him cute. It had been a long time since he had gotten that kind of attention from someone. "You...you think I'm cute?" Reece sputtered out, trying to hide the slight blush that had creeped onto his cheeks. He had lost just about all of his composure. Why did she have to go and do that? Now he looked like a total buffoon. "Thank you...? I mean, I'm flattered, don't get me wrong. But...out of all the things you could have said just now, that was certainly something. I'd honestly have preferred you try to deck me, because at least then I'd know what to do." He was so rambling now. But, to be fair, the woman had caught him off-guard. What did she expect him to do? He wasn't as smooth as he thought he could be.

"You've got yourself a deal, by the way. Let me clean this mess up really quick and we can go back into the shop right here." Reece certainly wasn't just going to leave broken glass out in the middle of the festival for someone to step on. He wasn't that kind of guy. And besides, it got him off of the topic of being cute. "Wait here, I'll go see if the shopkeeper has a broom and dustpan I can borrow." Reece quickly dipped back into the store, successfully convincing the cashier to let him borrow said broom and dustpan with the promise that he'd bring it back as soon as he had finished using it. It wasn't long before he was back outside, sweeping up the mess. "I couldn't just leave everything here. What if someone tripped and fell and cut themselves on the glass? I'd feel absolutely horrible. Plus, I wasn't going to leave it around for anyone else to clean. It's my mess, I'm going to clean it." And that's exactly what he did, returning the tools back to the store before returning to the woman. "You ready to come inside?"

Darcy returned the smile to the man, but noticed as he dropped Kennedy's hand. She had always felt like an older sister to the girl so her alarms sounded, but she didn't know the situation so she shoved them down.
"That I am, those 2 ragamuffins' mom, it's nice to meet you too."

Darcy returned her attention to Kennedy and smiled warmly at the girl, especially when she suggested the kids give him a 'Redfern' welcome. The twins agreed enthusiastically with Miles immediately agreeing with his aunt that he wanted food. Darcy just threw her hands up,
"We can get food! Whatever you guys want to do. I just know at some point, I'll probably say hi to my new teaching neighbor. She's going to be here. You decide, Ken. I'll follow you guys."
There were others that she hoped to be at the festival, but that was neither here nor there right now.

POV: Bryson Mckdowell

Location: Festival of Lights

Bryson could feel the familiar tension winding its way through him as Kennedy slipped her arm around his waist, his nervous smile directed at Darcy... He was acutely aware of the implications this gesture might carry, and he certainly didn’t want to give the impression that he was her boyfriend or anything of the sort.

A soft chuckle escaped him, but he made no move to distance himself from her embrace..
Instead, he listened intently as Darcy animatedly talked about her children, nodding along while stealing glances at her...
She seemed surprisingly youthful for a mother, but he quickly brushed that thought aside, turning his attention to the two kids with a warm smile...
"It's a pleasure to meet you both," he said, adopting a tone that was both formal and playful, his voice light and inviting...

Beneath the surface, however, his stomach was growling with hunger, and he nodded enthusiastically at the prospect of food. ..
"I’m up for anything you all decide; I can pretty much stomach whatever," he added with a smirk, his gaze drifting to the picturesque surroundings of the town, which radiated a cozy charm that filled him with an unexpected warmth.
This was a stark contrast to his usual solitary explorations, and he found himself smiling in Kennedy's direction, lowering his head as they began to walk together...
"I can’t thank you enough.. for inviting me.." he said sincerely, his eyes sparkling with gratitude. "I would have gone stir-crazy sitting in that auto shop for too long...restless leg syndrome, you know?" he joked, nudging Kennedy playfully.

Dallas actually laughed out loud at the guy, he was cute and his actions made him that much more attractive to her. Little did he know, he probably wouldn't have wanted her to deck him because she knew how to hit. She just shrugged at his question and noted mentally to call him cute more to try and frazzle him.

She smiled at him going and cleaning up his mess, she hadn't even thought about all that but he was right, there were people all over and it was icy. She watched as he cleaned, her heart fluttering for the mysterious boy that she had quite literally stumbled into. Then he asked her if she was ready to go in. She nodded and followed him into the store, immediately finding the snowglobe display. She walked over and looked at them longingly, her heart squeezing as she thought of her mother.

"So who were you buying it for? Girlfriend back at home?"
She asked.
"Or are you an avid snowglobe collector and just pretended it was a gift for someone."
She teased lightly, picking two of them up carefully. What was ironic was that Dallas had started to collect snowglobes after her mom had died. She usually bought one as she was leaving town. It was honestly a ritual for her, like closing a chapter on a place, but since Revelstoke was feeling more and more like home everyday, she decided to get one now. She didn't think she would be leaving anytime soon.

;; Soren
What an unfortunate way to start off a vacation. A flat tire had left Soren pulled over to the side of the road. He didn't know how to change a tire. Even if he did, the car he had just rented didn't come with a spare. After he had briefly stepped out to check out the tire- observing that it was too flat for him to be able to safely make it anywhere, he got back into the car, sitting in the driver's seat.

He unlocked his phone, going to look up the number of a towing company or a nearby auto shop. However, he quickly realized that his phone wasn't getting any service at the moment. Soren gave a soft sigh, putting his phone down and leaning his head back against his seat's headrest.

Shockingly, Soren felt rather calm about the situation. It wasn't like he was in a complete ghost town, he could walk up the road and find a nearby shop where someone could surely help him out. But at the moment, he just wanted to take a few seconds to himself. If anything, he had to mentally prepare for a walk in the cold. Living in sunny Los Angeles most of his life, he wasn't quite used to the proper effects of the winter season. Not that he disliked the cold, it just wasn't something his body was used to.

He closed his eyes for a brief moment, enjoying the peace and quiet. The only thing he could hear was the sound of cars zooming by. To him it was a peaceful environment- not nearly as chaotic as the traffic back home. He opened his eyes, turning his gaze to look out the window of the passenger side of the car.

Suddenly, Soren heard a soft knock on his window. He jumped slightly, shocked at the abrupt noise, but quickly calmed himself and rolled down the window when he saw that a police officer was standing outside his door. The officer's polite smile and gentle tone of voice made Soren smile softly in return, grateful for the much needed offer of help.

"Morning, officer," Soren greeted. His eyes didn't quite meet the officer's. Even though the man seemed friendly, eye contact was always something Soren had struggled with, especially these days. "I seem to have a flat tire and my phone isn't getting service, so I've gotten myself a bit stuck." A nervous, barely audible laugh found it's way out of Soren's throat. Soren's eyes finally completely met the officer's gaze, and his expression softened slightly. It was odd, usually eye contact made him more nervous, but with this man it felt different. "Do you think I could borrow your phone? Call a towing company or something?"

The bakery was all abuzz now, filled with the energy that came from these friends being around each other. Rachel cherished this feeling, she loved how happy her friends could make her. One friend in particular always stood out above the rest, but Rachel didn't want to dwell on that feeling- afraid too much examination of that could ruin their friendship.

Her head whipped around to shoot Hollis a glare when she said she hadn't eaten anything yet. "Don't let vengeance get in the way of taking care of yourself," she scolded. There was a hint of playfulness to Rachel's words, but she did genuinely care. There was nothing she hated more than those she cared about not caring for themselves.

Rachel's focus shifted as Mikey came to the table, bringing his goofball energy along with him. She gave a soft chuckle as he asked Ave to teach him how to bake one of the muffins he was eating. "Ave's talents reign supreme, as always," she grinned, glancing over at Ave and shooting her a teasing wink.

She paused for a moment, thinking, after Mikey asked what they were up to tonight. Rachel hadn't made any plans, she was more of a go with the flow sort of person, but going somewhere with her friends sounded like a fun time. "Oh!" She exclaimed, recalling something she had heard earlier. "There's a party going on at the lodge tonight, I think it's supposed to be a proper rager. Could be fun?"

Ivy Hayes

The Influencer

Ivy chuckled softly and rolled her eyes at her best friend, who had just playfully insisted that she was buying the next round of drinks.
"Yeah, yeah,"
Ivy replied nonchalantly, taking a sip of her rich cocoa that had just been handed to her. The warm, comforting flavors enveloped her, making her feel cozy as they walked side by side.

As they strolled, Ivy glanced over at her friend and continued,
"Well, sort of, I guess. It's mostly been hookups for a while now."
She hesitated, her mind drifting back to recent conversations with him.
"I made this joke the other day about how often I've been sleeping over at his place. I said I should just keep a toothbrush there... and you know what? He told me to actually bring one!"
Ivy paused for a moment, processing what that signified.
"To me, that feels like it's moving beyond just a casual fling. It’s like he’s opening the door for something more meaningful."

With a small shrug, she dipped her spoon back into her cocoa, swirling it absentmindedly. She was reluctant to discuss her feelings too deeply; part of her was hopeful for a deeper connection, yet she hadn’t truly been in a committed relationship since high school. That thought weighed on her, and she felt a mix of excitement and uncertainty about what might come next.

As they walked, Ivy let out a soft sigh, her mind racing with possibilities. They paused near a tree adorned with a dazzling array of multicolored lights, each one twinkling like a tiny star against the evening sky. She took a moment to appreciate the beauty of the scene around them, allowing herself to soak in the warmth of the holiday spirit.

In that moment, she felt a rush of gratitude for this day spent with her best friend, especially since it had been far too long since they had carved out time for each other amidst their busy lives. The laughter, the cocoa, and the enchanting lights combined to create a sense of happiness that she cherished. She hoped this moment would remind her of the importance of friendship, even as she navigated the complexities of her budding relationship.

Kennedy shot Darcy a playful look, a mischievous glint in her eyes, before dramatically rolling her eyes with a grin. "Alrighty, since it sounds like we're all feeling a bit hungry, how about we go on a little adventure to find some food?" she exclaimed, her laughter bubbling up as she glanced between everyone gathered. "Honestly, I could eat a horse right now—I’m that hungry!" She winked at the kids, who erupted in laughter, their spirits lifted by her infectious energy.

As they continued walking, Kennedy’s gaze fell on Bryson, and she gave him a sidelong glance, a playful smile dancing on her lips. "Oh, trust me, I totally get it," she said, her tone flirtatious and teasing. "I love running the shop with them, but sometimes it feels like I could use a little more excitement—maybe something a bit more... thrilling?" She raised an eyebrow, her playful demeanor inviting him to join in on the fun.

She continued, her voice light and teasing, "I mean, who wouldn’t want to spice things up a little bit? A little adventure, a little laughter, and maybe even a little mischief along the way." With a cheeky grin, she added, "And hey, if we find some delicious food, maybe we can make it a regular thing—just the two of us? While you are here visiting?" With that, she picked up her pace, eager to lead the way to their next culinary destination, her excitement palpable.

With a playful grin, she stuck her tongue out and began to savor her salad, clearly enjoying the moment.

"Sorry, bud, but it's top secret,"

With a sense of contentment enveloping her, Ave added,
"So, a party? I mean, that's not usually my scene, but I’m definitely down for it! Unless... someone wants to suggest a cozy movie night instead?"
She raised an eyebrow, a hint of hope in her expression. Deep down, she knew it was a long shot, but what truly mattered to her was simply being in the company of those she loved. As she looked around at her friends, she felt a warmth in her heart, cherishing these moments of connection and laughter, no matter the activity.

Blair Rosewood

S
miling sympathetically, Blair gave a short nod at the man’s explanation. His gaze flickered briefly to the road outside before he pulled his head back from the window, shifting his attention downward. His eyes immediately caught sight of the back tire, now that he was really paying attention. It was noticeably more deflated than the others.

His brows furrowed in concern as the man’s request to use his phone to call a tow truck registered. A strained smile stretched across Blair’s lips, the kind that was equal parts apologetic and understanding.

"Well, that might be a bit of an issue, sir."
He brought his hand up to rub the back of his neck, glancing out at the thick, snow-dusted forest that bordered the road.
"You see, this spot’s always been kind of spotty in terms of cell reception. It’s not very close to any cell towers, and this beautiful forest to your right doesn't exactly help with keeping the signal strong."
He gestured towards the trees, their branches heavy with snow, as if they were actively conspiring against their technology.
"And with so much snow rolling in, it’s pretty much impossible to get a call out. That’s actually why we usually make rounds in this area at this time of year—just in case anyone gets... well, stuck."
His eyes softened with genuine concern as if trying to offer reassurance despite the circumstances.

"Now, if you'd like, I can ride back into town and get a tow truck headed your way."
He paused and Blair peered back down at the man through the window, his mind racing for a better solution. He could just leave, call it in, but something about leaving the stranger out here in the cold—alone—didn’t sit right with him.

"But..."
Blair hesitated, considering the offer more carefully.
"I’d much rather just take you into town myself. That way, you can get somewhere warm, figure out the tow situation, and maybe have a hot cup of coffee while you're at it."
Blair's smile grew a little more relaxed as he shifted his weight slightly, leaning closer to the window, the warmth of his offer bleeding into his tone.

After a beat, Blair’s expression softened further as he added,
"You seem like you might be a tourist, am I right?"
He leaned back a little, eyebrows quirking as he regarded the man with mild curiosity.
"We get a lot of travelers, especially around this time of year. You're probably staying at Revelstoke Mountain lodge. My friend works there so I know where it is. I can get you there safe and quick so you can rest up."

Blair paused for a moment, glancing out toward the snow-filled expanse, but his mind remained firmly on the man inside the vehicle.

"By the way, I’m Officer Rosewood, if you’re wondering,"
he added casually, his tone light.
"Don’t let the badge scare you though. I promise I’m not giving you a ticket for that flat tire."
His smile was warm again, making light of the situation as he patiently awaited the man’s response.

POV: Bryson Mckdowell

Location: Festival of Lights

Bryson's eyes sparkled with delight at Kennedy's reply, a flicker of mischief dancing within them as he sought to avoid any semblance of rudeness with his previous remark about being pent up in the autoshop.
Yet, it seemed she caught onto the playful undertone, which only served to deepen the grin spreading across his face.. "I see what you mean," he chuckled softly, his head bobbing in a mix of uncertainty and amusement, his gaze narrowing slightly as he pondered... "Well...sort of..? With my photography, all I ever get is thrilling adventures... I get to meet fascinating people and hear their stories, so maybe I take that back." He straightened his posture, slipping his hands into his pockets, a bright smile illuminating his features, lost in a daze of contemplation.
"There's nothing quite like adding a little spice to life, even when things are already..spicy?" he quipped, his words laced with a playful humor that seemed to flow effortlessly from him...even if it seemed to have a sort of awkward tone.

As he raised an eyebrow at Kennedy's suggestion, a thoughtful hum escaped him, contemplating the possibilities... "Depending on how long Anthony takes with my truck, I don't see any reason to pass up on some delicious food," he said, casting her a sidelong glance filled with playful mischief. "Sure." he agreed, his heart warming as he watched her quicken her pace to keep up with Darcy.
There was something about this camaraderie, this warmth of connection and friendship, that felt both foreign and exhilarating.
He found himself adjusting to it with surprising ease, relishing the moment as he trailed behind the two girls, his eyes wide with wonder at the twinkling lights around them.

Hollis Warner

H
ollis shook her head with a playful eye roll, shoving another big chunk of pie into her mouth as she half-listened to her friends bantering on.

“Firstly, that would never work,”
Hollis said, looking over at Mikey with a critical eye, a little smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth. She tilted her head slightly, her finger pointing at him like she was about to deliver some kind of judgment.
“Neither of you could fit inside a hat man.”
Her gaze flicked from Mikey to Ave, her finger following the motion of her eyes.

“Secondly, no,”
she continued, casually taking another bite of pie, her tone playful but firm.
“You convinced us not to party last time, and tonight? I wanna see you dance.”

Her finger then swiveled toward Rachel, her eyes lighting up mischievously.
“Thirdly, fuck yes. I heard about that too, and we are absolutely going.”
Her lips curled into a wide, knowing grin as she glanced around at her friends, already imagining the fun. She’d been waiting for an excuse to let loose, and this was it.

She finished off the rest of the pie with one last enthusiastic shove, chewing three big bites before swallowing with a contented sigh. The sweet satisfaction of the treat settled her stomach, the ache from earlier all but forgotten as she relaxed into her position, her arms resting casually across the back of the chair.

“I'd love for a chance to make a mess in the place where I usually have to clean up after others,”
Hollis added, her voice teasing but lighthearted. The thought of being the one causing the chaos instead of cleaning it up, had her feeling unexpectedly excited. She stretched her arms above her head, letting out a satisfied sigh.

Auriela

Constable's wild child

Aurie nestled into Roman's arm, gazing up at them with a playful smile that illuminated her face.
"I never realized just how neat you are, and your room reflects you more than I expected,"
she giggled, resting her head comfortably against their arm. The warmth of the moment wrapped around her like a cozy blanket, and it was in that instant that she became aware of her own fatigue. However, she quickly shook off the drowsiness, determined to keep the energy flowing.

"Alright, first things first: I want to see you try on some outfits!"
she declared, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"It’ll be fun to see how you can transform your look. And after that, we can pack some comfy clothes for later,"
she added with a chuckle, feeling quite pleased with her plan. Aurie loved the thought of mixing things up and making the day special, and she couldn't wait to see Roman's reactions as they explored new styles together.

POV - Roman Marshall
Roman chuckled as they nestled their chin on top of Auriela's head, smiling happily as the two of them shared warmth together. It was true. They always did their best to keep their room as tidy and possible. Roman believed that a nice home is a tidy home. They rested for a moment, simply enjoying the peaceful moment with Auriela. They only opened back up their eyes when she spoke up, her voice having a little bit of yawn in it.

Roman felt a twinge of concern, sensing the drowsiness coming from Auriela. Part of them wanted to say something, but they figured they shouldn't kill the mood for her. She was having fun and they loved seeing that. They were having fun with her too. Roman stood up, smiling sheepishly as they looked down at Auriela. "Well, I'll show you what I have." They walked over to their wardrobe, opening it up before leaning in to rummage through it. "My clothes aren't exactly flashy, but they're something. Heh."

Darcy was completely oblivious to what was going on around her at that moment because she had gotten sucked into a texting argument with Mason Redfern, Kennedy's older brother and ironically the boy she had been totally in love with growing up. Since Kennedy was now walking next to her, she looked at her and frowned slightly,
"Mace isn't being very nice. I was excited when he texted me but..."
Her voice trailed off, she honestly wanted to ask Kennedy if she blamed her for leaving but this wasn't exactly the time for that conversation.

It had been hard to leave but it ended being for the best. She couldn't stay where the father of her children had left her, even now it had been hard for her to come back. But she wouldn't let Mason make herself feel guilty. She put a smile on her face and turned to Bryson,
"So where are you from?"
She wanted him to feel welcome into the town, especially if Kennedy liked him.

Reece tried to set the best possible example for those around him, so cleaning up the mess that he had made wasn't a big deal. Maybe it would even impress the nameless woman he had ran into. Unless she was into the bad boys. Then he was out of luck - he was squeaky clean. But he was going to try to make the best impression that he could possibly make, and that was all he could hope for.

He had opened the door to the shop for her before heading inside after her, the cozy warmth and atmosphere immediately flooding his senses. It was as if he had stepped into a scene from a snow globe for real this time. The display case full of the little trinkets loomed before both of them, inviting them to pick one up, shake it, and watch the snow fall down. So who were you buying it for? Girlfriend back at home? The question rang in his ears, taking him out of his trance and back into the present. Reece turned from the snow globes to face the woman, shaking his head with a non-verbal 'no.' "Nah, it's been a while since I've had a girlfriend. I've been trying to work on myself lately." He wasn't ready to get into any sort of relationship right now, especially since he was still trying to find his footing here. With a shrug, he shoved his hands in his pockets so that his thumbs were facing out.

"The snow globe was for my mom. She's, uh...still pissed at me for skipping town." A sheepish smile danced on his lips as he spoke. "I'm hoping she won't be as mad if I bring her a peace offering for Christmas. She can't possibly be mad if I give her a nice gift, right?" Reece knew that sooner or later, his parents would forgive him for burning the bridges he had built back home in favor of new ones in Revelstoke. He had never really done anything wrong in the past. They'd cave in eventually. He was a good kid, after all.

"What about you? Are you in hot water too?"

Constable's Wild Child

Aurie straightened her posture in Roman's bed, her hazel-green eyes sparkling with admiration as she looked up at them. The room was filled with a lighthearted energy, and she felt completely at ease in their company. After a few moments of soaking in the atmosphere, her gaze darted toward the closet, and she let out an exaggerated gasp of horror, a playful expression crossing her face. It was clear that the sight of the clothing had struck a chord with her sense of style.

Chuckling to herself, she slid off the bed with an air of determination, her excitement palpable. As she made her way to the closet, she began to ruffle through the hangers with eager fingers, searching for hidden gems among the chaos. After a moment of digging, her eyes lit up as she spotted a delightful dark burgundy like trench coat hanging in the corner. It was chic and eye-catching, the perfect foundation for an outfit that could turn heads.

With a triumphant grin, she pulled the coat out and held it up for them to see, feeling a surge of inspiration.
“This is absolutely perfect!”
she exclaimed, before turning her attention back to them, her smile warm and inviting.
“Okay, let’s start with this. I’d love to see what you would normally pair with it before I continue to pick out the rest.”

With that, she hopped back onto the bed, her enthusiasm infectious as she settled in, ready to dive into the creative process. The excitement in the room was palpable.

The marshmallow hot cocoa went down smoothly. The conversation with Ivy was also going down smoothly. Naomi felt like herself again for once as they walked side by side, indulging in the chocolatey beverages. And as she listened to her best friend explain her situation with her new fling, she couldn't help but hope for the best for the both of them. Because, after all, if she couldn't have any luck in love at the moment, then she wanted her best friend to have the most pleasant time that she could possibly have. And maybe one day, Naomi herself would find someone else. But today was not that day. And she'd just have to come to terms with that.

"A toothbrush? Wow, that's...certainly something." She blinked a few times, trying to process the new information that she had just been given. Trying to find the words were a little harder than she thought it would be. Naomi hadn't experienced that when she was dating her now ex-husband. They had been long-distance before he came down to propose, and they didn't live together until they were married. She hadn't had to keep a toothbrush at his house because it was their townhouse that they lived in. So to say that Naomi could offer any advice based on prior knowledge would be a bold-faced lie. But she could try. "Well, do you want to be something more than just friends with benefits? Where's your head at, V?" Her voice held a curiosity about it as she spoke.

"And, more importantly, what does he want to be? You can't force something if he's not into it. Has he said anything else that might lean into his true feelings?" She took another sip from her drink, peering over the plastic lid at Ivy. Naomi didn't want to see Ivy's heart broken. If that guy ended up doing just that, then he was going to have to deal with her instead. Nobody was going to hurt her best friend and get away with it.

Kennedy felt her phone buzzing incessantly in her pocket, each notification a reminder of the scrutiny she was under. Stealing a quick glance at the screen, she saw Mason’s name flash before her eyes, and a wave of frustration washed over her. Sliding the device back into her pocket, she couldn’t help but allow her irritation to show on her face. Of course, Mason had enlisted his best friend Manuel to play the role of the sneaky observer, keeping tabs on her every move. So, her brother was monitoring her, and his overly conspicuous friend thought he could be subtle?

With a surge of determination, she took a deep breath, willing herself to push past the annoyance. She turned to Darcy, her best friend, and flashed her a playful, mischievous grin. "Dee, could you cover the kids' eyes for just a moment?" she asked, her voice laced with excitement.

Once Darcy had the children distracted, Kennedy felt the adrenaline rush through her. It was time to take control of the situation. If Manuel wanted a show and was intent on reporting back to Mason, she was more than ready to make it a performance worth watching. As that thought solidified her resolve, she stepped closer to Bryson, her heart racing as she rose onto her tiptoes, gently wrapping her arms around his neck.

She looked into his eyes, offering him a soft smile that conveyed both mischief and sincerity, whispering just loud enough for him to hear, "Sorry," before leaning in to kiss him. It was more than just a peck; she wanted to create a moment that Manuel couldn’t possibly overlook, one that would give Mason something to think about. The kiss lingered, sweet and electrifying as if time itself had paused around them.

After a few seconds that felt like an eternity, she pulled back, a sheepishly flirtatious smile dancing on her lips. She casually draped her arm back around him, her heart still fluttering from the bold move. "Play along," she murmured under her breath, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

Once she felt a sufficient amount of time had passed, she let out a light giggle, her confidence returning as she turned the attention back to their outing. "Alright, how about we grab a bite at that little restaurant up ahead? I’ve heard great things about it!" She paused for effect, her excitement building. "Then you can tell us all about where you came from, because I am absolutely dying to know!"

Her initial shyness had vanished entirely, replaced by the confident, ambitious woman that Kennedy knew herself to be. The playful banter, the thrill of the moment, and the prospect of Bryson's stories ignited a spark within her, and she was ready to embrace whatever came next.

POV: Bryson Mckdowell

Location: Festival of Lights

As Bryson strolled along the path illuminated by a myriad of twinkling lights, he found himself momentarily lost in the beauty of the spectacle surrounding him.
His daydream was abruptly interrupted when Darcy turned to him, her eyes sparkling with curiosity as she posed a question that required his attention.

Blinking in surprise, he took a moment to gather his thoughts before a smile broke across his face.
"..good question.. I often lose track of such a thing.." he replied with a playful smirk.
"Believe it or not, I was actually born on the road to Washington... in the car- no less, It's a bit wild, but we were somewhere in Utah at the time, so I guess you could say that's where i'm from..? We hopped all over the place, my parents and I." His laughter mingled with the crisp air as he joined Kennedy and Darcy, his breath forming a misty cloud in the frigid atmosphere.
"Did you both grow up in Revelstoke?" he inquired softly, his voice barely rising above the gentle rustle of the winter breeze.

Noticing a flicker of frustration in Kennedy's demeanor, Bryson's brow furrowed with concern. He sensed that something was amiss, but he was not one to pry into the lives of those he barely knew.
His curiosity piqued when he caught Kennedy whispering something to Darcy about covering her kid' eyes, leaving him puzzled...
Just as he was about to voice his confusion, Kennedy approached him, and he instinctively leaned back, a nervous chuckle escaping his lips.
There was an air of mischief about her, and he couldn't shake the feeling that she was up to something.

His instincts proved correct when she stood on her tiptoes, wrapping her arms around his neck, causing his face to flush a deeper shade of red despite the biting cold. As he leaned back slightly, bewildered by her boldness, she leaned in and pressed her lips against his, barely even registering the words she muttered before doing so.

The unexpected warmth of the moment sent a rush through him, leaving him speechless.
Momentary paralyzed, his gaze fixed in astonishment as Kennedy deepened their kiss, leaving him in a whirlwind of uncertainty about whether to reciprocate.

When she finally broke the kiss, urging him to go along with her unexpected display, he felt a lump form in his throat, his mind racing as he blinked in confusion.
"What...?" he managed to voice, his eyes darting around as he tried to comprehend her motives.

The intensity of her pleading gaze tugged at something within him, and despite his bewilderment, he complied. Clearing his throat, he nodded.
The warmth of her breath mingled with his, their eyes locked in a moment that felt suspended in time, until she turned her focus back to Darcy.
Bryson stood there for a heartbeat longer, gathering his thoughts before straightening his jacket collar, determined to maintain an air of nonchalance, even if his quickened breath suggested otherwise.
He chose silence, slipping his hands into his pockets as he strolled beside them, an unsure look plastered on his face, all the while pondering the reason behind Kennedy's bold act, deciding that perhaps the answers could wait for another time. He side-glanced her, seeing as her demeanor had shifted drastically, only seeming to deepen his curiosity and suspicion.

Mikey thoroughly enjoyed being around his pals. Nothing could have been better than this. And when the party was brought up, a mischievous glint began to flicker in his eyes. "It's settled, then. We're going." He took another bite from the muffin, leaning back in his chair. A good party was just what he needed to brighten his day. "I say we go get ready and meet back here at...I dunno what time, but I'm sure one of the smarter people in the room here can figure it out. I'm not good with time management, you know." Mikey finished his treat, wiping his hands together to get rid of the crumbs that had been left behind.

"Most importantly, are we pregaming? 'Cause I've got, like, half a bottle of Fireball and an eighth of that good stuff stashed around my room somewhere. It's everyone's for the taking, unless you're all gonna be a bunch of buzzkills." He grinned at his own joke, a teasing air about his words. Mikey didn't aim to be the leader of the group, and he wasn't sure that he wanted to be, but what he did know was that he was a cherished member of said group. And honestly, that was all that mattered.

;; Sidney
That smile sent a warmth through Sidney's spirit. A warmth that he hadn't felt in a very long time. Was he dead? Maybe that fall took him right out and the woman next to him was an angel. To him, that sounded like a more reasonable explanation than him simply enjoying this woman's presence. The feeling of affection was so foreign in his mind, he almost couldn't place it.

But, he allowed himself to give into the feeling. If only for just a few moments. Sid let out an amused huff of air at being called her hero. "I try my best," he muttered, an edge of pleasant sarcasm to his words.

With the woman's help, he sat up, dusting himself off in the process. He stayed sitting down on the icy ground though, seeing no point in rushing to his feet. Sid gave his head a soft shake as she apologized for everything that had happened. "Errare humanum est," he started in latin, waving his hand as if dismissing her apology. "To make a mistake is to be human. It's ok."

Sidney gazed out towards the street- the occasional car passing by, plenty of people walking around. For some reason, the fall made him feel more connected to it all. A reminder of his humanity.

He turned his head back to the woman beside him, eyebrows furrowing. "Are you ok though? That was quite the fall." He took a look around at the ground, the woman's things still scattered around them. "The extravagance of it all may have made it look worse than it was though. Sorry about your things, hope nothing's broken."
