Now that the festival had officially started, Dallas felt like she could relax. Dallas had been working her ass off to get the festival of lights off without a hitch. She loved her job, but really didn't want to fuck it up, especially since Raven had given her some more freedom with it. Dallas had recently started at the Lodge and actually enjoyed it, which was a shock because Dallas hated most of her jobs. She had moved to town around 4 months ago and actually felt like this place could be home which she hadn't had that feeling in quite a while.

Since things were under control and Dallas was officially clocked out, she made her way to the outside the lodge. Lost, in her own thoughts, she began to wander, just enjoying the scenery. She had dressed for the festival, in her santa sweater, red sparkly skirt and heels. Dallas loved to dress for the occasion and knew it would be a cute outfit for Elo's after-party.

Lost in her own little world, she wasn't paying attention to where she was going as she was looking up at the Christmas lights and the next thing she knew, she was colliding with someone, sending what they were holding flying
"What the hell?"
She said, hands flying up.

now playing: perfect weather for a crime - helena deland

Naomi couldn't keep the smile off of her face as she made her way over to Ivy, immediately being pulled into a warm hug. She had missed that - a face, overjoyed to see her, and a pair of arms, outstretched and waiting for an embrace. It felt good to feel wanted again, even if it was just platonically from her best friend. Seeing Ivy again made her realize that she had inadvertently shut everyone out of her life post-divorce. She hadn't wanted anyone to see her in such a state of mourning that she had put all of her time and effort towards work, prioritizing her professional relationships over her personal ones.

But now, she was coming home - metaphorically, of course, like a soldier returning home after war. Naomi pulled away from the hug, her smile briefly fading upon the mention of the divorce. She wouldn't have left Julian if he were the last man on Earth. She was so hopelessly in love with him that it wasn't even funny. And he had been, too, at least until she had gotten the job at CKWC. Everything had been perfect until then. They had even started discussing the possibility of starting a family. But when she began working those long hours, dedicated to her craft...it was as if a light switch had been flipped off. And the nonchalant way that Ivy casually brought up the situation completely threw her off-guard. But she wasn't going to spend the night tearing up over what could have been. Tonight was about spending time with Ivy, and that time was going to be spent having fun.

"I guess you could say that I had a 'glow up.' " She winked playfully, feeling a bit more confident in her own skin after all of the time spent moping around. Arms linked together, they started moving through the crowd. "And we've obviously got to hit up a hot cocoa stand first and foremost - I simply cannot do the festival without it. Besides, there'll be plenty of time to drink at that party later. We're still going to that, right? Because if I got all dressed up for nothing..." Naomi trailed off, looking over at her best friend with a grin on her face. God, she had missed her. Tonight was going to be a night to remember.

Molly knew that she must have looked absolutely insane right now, especially after all of her ramblings. But she didn't care what the girl next to her thought - she had made up her mind, and she was determined to go to the party. After all, most kids her age were out drinking and partying and living it up. Why couldn't she? For one night and one night only, she could be anyone she wanted to be. She didn't have to be a Harding - she could just be someone else. Would she regret it in the morning? Definitely. But she had spent so many years trying to be perfect. She had spent so many years out on the ice, disciplining herself to be great. Molly needed to let go for once.

"I know you don't know me, and I know I don't know you, but...I don't know, I just feel this fire within me. I need to go to that party. And the thing is, I know that it's going to be a big mistake. I'm not a partier. I never have been, and I never will, but I genuinely cannot remember the last time I had fun. Sure, I enjoy skating, but that's more of a requirement for my life than something I do for fun. I know you probably think I'm totally nuts right now, but if you knew my parents, then you'd understand why I need to go to this party. Now, I'm not forcing you to come with me, because I'm just some random person, and you said it yourself that you're not a partier either, but I'm going home to get ready. I heard that the party's at the lodge. You're staying there, right? I could meet you there if you want to go. If not, then that's okay. I'm Molly, by the way."

If that wasn't convincing enough, then Molly had exhausted all of her options. She'd just have to go alone. And without waiting for the girl's response, Molly started for home, eager to get out of her skating gear and into something cute.

The grin Ave gave her made Rachel's heart flutter slightly. She nodded and quickly found a seat at one of the bakery's tables, setting the salad out so it would be ready to devour. Ave prepared the coffee rather quickly, the familiar scent filling the air. "Thanks, angel," Rachel grinned in response to Ave setting the coffee and pastry in front of her.

She leaned forward slightly, picking up the mocha and taking a sip. Rachel's eyes widened slightly, a pleased glimmer filling them, as the flavor hit her tongue. "Oh my god. This is so fucking good!" she exclaimed, voice laced with excitement.

Rachel picked up the eclair, about to take a bite, but paused upon hearing a voice cut through the air. Hollis, her friend and roommate, had just entered, followed by her friend Mikey. She put the pastry down and waved to her friends. "Hey guys! Mikey, glad to see you aren't too bruised up." She smirked, recalling the alleged beating he'd gotten from some eight year olds.

Rachel's eyes flickered back to Ave as the two who had just entered continued speaking, clearly seeking pastries. A soft chuckle fell from her lips as she waited for the girl across from her to give them a response.

As Belle nestled against Wren's back, the chill of the winter air wrapped around them like a crisp blanket, invigorating yet sharp. The festive atmosphere of the Christmas festival buzzed with life—twinkling lights adorned the stalls, the scent of roasted chestnuts filled the air, and laughter echoed all around them. She felt a rush of warmth emanating from Wren, a comforting refuge against the biting cold, and she couldn’t help but smile at how lucky she was to share this moment with her close friends.

With her arms securely wrapped around his neck, she peered over his shoulder, scanning the bustling scene for a food stand that would satisfy their cravings. Her stomach rumbled in anticipation, and she was on a mission to find the perfect treat—a turkey sandwich that she knew both Wren and Raven would love.
"I'm starving!"
she exclaimed, her excitement bubbling over as they walked.

Suddenly, her eyes widened as she spotted a colorful stand that proudly displayed a sign reading “Turkey Sandwiches.”
"There it is!"
she shouted, her voice rising above the din of the festival.
“Raven, can you see it?! It’s right over there!”
Her excitement was infectious as she pointed enthusiastically, her heart racing at the thought of indulging in the delicious sandwiches they had been dreaming about.

As Wren continued to walk, Belle leaned in closer, practically vibrating with enthusiasm.
“Let’s hurry! I can’t wait to dig in!”
The joy of the moment, mixed with the warmth of their friendship, made her feel alive, and the anticipation of sharing a meal with her friends brought an even greater smile to her face. The cold air might have been biting, but with Wren’s warmth at her back and the excitement of the festival surrounding them, she felt an overwhelming sense of happiness and belonging.

;; Brandon
The holiday season was always the busiest for the lodge. Brandon liked the holiday season the best because of it. In his mind, it was always good to be busy. And work was what he liked to keep busy with. Keeping busy with his personal life had let him down in so many ways in the past, he'd much rather be buried in papers and reservations, somewhere he had more control over things.

Brandon was nothing if not prompt, he'd shown up to the lodge at 7AM, an hour before he was properly scheduled to work. He liked to be there as much as possible, to make sure everything was in order. Revelstoke Mountain Lodge was meant to be an ideal winter destination and Brandon would see to it that it remained that way.

"Enjoy your stay," He said with a smile as he handed a vacationing couple the keycard to their room. With no one else in line at the moment, he turned to the computer, checking on some logistical things. Brandon was rather engrossed in his work, but his head snapped up at the sound of a sing song-y voice calling out his name.

His eyes flickered from Elowen back to the computer rather quickly, his way of trying to hide his annoyance. It didn't work very well, it was clear he was annoyed. He shook his head before replying, keeping his eyes fixed on the computer ahead of him rather than Elowen as he spoke, frustration apparent in his tone. "Hello Elowen. No, the suit is not new. Yes, I am working all day. And no, I will not be doing that."

Brandon was forced to look up upon the question about her outfit, eyes skimming her figure. Elowen's outfit was festive... and rather revealing. He couldn't help the way his eyes lingered on the hem of her skirt for a second longer than they should have before he looked up, meeting her eyes. "You look very nice, Elo. Now, if that's all, I really should get back to work."

now playing: into the sun - sons of the east

It was Christmastime again. A couple of years ago, he'd be gearing up to play in a bowl game right about now, but his hopes of playing professionally had gone down the drain when he tore his ACL. Reece's life hadn't really been the same since. College for Reece was his way into the NFL. There was no point to staying in school now that his knee would never be healthy enough to sustain the wear and tear that would come with a professional career. But luckily, his dad had a backup plan for him, teaching him the craft of carpentry. It wasn't as thrilling as being out on the field, but it made a living. College players these days were getting major NIL deals, making a boatload of money regardless of if they'd make it to the next level. Nobody had ever offered that kind of money to him as a player. If he did, then he wouldn't be stuck as a carpenter.

But it didn't get him down much. Besides, there was a whole festival going on right now. There certainly would have been these kinds of festivities back home, that was for sure. It was the perfect time for him to buy gifts for his mom and dad. Reece hoped that they still weren't upset after he ditched his hometown, quite literally in the middle of the night, in search of something more. Hopefully his Christmas gifts to them would make them forget all about it. After perusing through the various stores and pop-up shops at the festival, he had settled on a Revelstoke snow globe for his mom and a pair of work pants for his dad, who wasn't big on getting gifts himself.

Reece was just heading out of the store where he had bought the snow globe when he physically collided with something - or someone. His bags went flying, which wouldn't have been too bad if it was just the bag with the pants, except for the fact that it wasn't just that bag. The fragile snow globe lay in ruins, the glass broken into tiny pieces on the snowy street. The liquid within seeped out in the immediate vicinity. Reece just stood there, staring in awe at the remnants of his mother's Christmas present. He had just bought it not even five minutes ago, and yet it was gone just like that.

His eyes flickered over to the person he had ran into, about to say something really mean until he realized that it was a woman...a woman who was a breath of fresh air at that. "You know, you should probably watch where you're walking next time. Guys like me are just trying to get some last-minute Christmas shopping done around here."

Auriela Hale

Aurie nodded to herself as she made her way to their room, her footsteps light with anticipation. As she stepped inside, she was immediately struck by the remarkable neatness that enveloped the space. A soft chuckle escaped her lips; it was a refreshing sight compared to her own chaotic sanctuary, where clothes were strewn in piles on a chair and her makeup lay scattered across every available surface.

She had to admit, there was something inherently appealing about the orderliness of Roman's room. The crisp lines of the neatly made bed and the organized arrangement of items on the desk spoke of a calm and collected personality. Making herself comfortable, she perched on the edge of Roman's bed, crossing her legs in a relaxed manner as she took in the serene atmosphere surrounding her.

Just as she was beginning to settle into the moment, the door creaked open, and Roman stepped in. The sight of them brought an involuntary smile to her face, illuminating her features with warmth.
"You surprise me more and more,"
she remarked softly, her voice barely above a whisper. Even though Roman had already closed the door behind them, she felt a desire to keep the peace of the night and respect the slumbering household around them.

Her words hung in the air, filled with a blend of admiration and playful teasing. Aurie enjoyed these moments of quiet connection, where the world outside faded away and the two of them could share a slice of intimacy amidst the tranquility. The soft glow of the bedside lamp cast a gentle light, enveloping them in a cozy ambiance that felt just right for late-night conversations and shared laughter.

POV - Roman Marshall
Roman chuckled sheepishly as they removed their coat and scarf, setting it down for the time being. The feeling of giddiness was welling up within them from having Auriela here, sitting in their room. It felt oddly surreal, almost. They set their stuff neatly on the chair at their desk before going over to her. They sat down right beside Auriela, politely folding their hands in their lap as they smiled at her with that soft and warm look of theirs.

"How so?" They responded while settling down from their venture through the snowfall. The inside of their room was warm thankfully, so they hoped that Auriela would warm up because of that. But, just to make sure, they brought themself closer to her, their arm gently pressing against hers. The intimacy between them still made Roman get the butterflies, but it never took away from the comforting nature of it.

Bakery Owner

Ave smiled as she watched Rachel take a sip of her drink, the rich, velvety mocha coffee swirling in her cup, topped with a delicate layer of frothy milk and a sprinkle of cocoa powder. The aroma of the coffee filled the air, wrapping around them like a warm embrace, perfectly mingling with the sweet scent of the baked goods surrounding them.
"That good, huh?"
she remarked, noticing Rachel's eyes widen in delight as she savored the moment.

As the sun began to set, golden rays streamed through the bakery's windows, casting a warm, amber glow that danced across the rustic wooden tables and the display of pastries. The light transformed the space into a cozy haven, where shadows played softly against the walls, highlighting the baked treats that beckoned to anyone who entered. The ambiance felt inviting, enhanced by the soft chatter of customers and the gentle clinking of plates and cups.

Suddenly, the familiar sound of the bell rang out as Hollis and Mikey stepped through the door, their laughter echoing in the warm atmosphere.
"Rachel!"
Hollis called out, her voice carrying a playful urgency. Mikey waved enthusiastically as he made his way toward their table.

Ave's heart swelled with warmth as she glanced around the bakery, seeing friends gathered near her, enjoying their food and each other's company. Their laughter and shared stories filled the room, creating a sense of community that she cherished deeply. While she loved helping customers, there was something uniquely fulfilling about sharing her food with friends who appreciated it.

"Take whatever you want; we're closing soon. No need to pay, just don't take it all,"
she said with a soft giggle, feeling a sense of contentment wash over her. Her gaze returned to Rachel, who brightened at the sight of her friends, her smile widening as she picked up her fork to dig into her salad, her stomach reminding everyone just how hungry she was. The connection with her friends, the enchanting atmosphere of the bakery, and the delightful flavors of the treats around them all combined to create a perfect moment that filled Ave with gratitude and joy.

A vacation was nice in theory. A chance to relax, unwind, and take a step back from responsibility. But in practice, it put Zara on edge. She was never the sort to be inactive. Leave it to her to find ways to be productive, even durning a vacation. So far, she had spent most of the time checking in with the family business from afar and networking. There were a few people worth her time that were also vacationing here, and Zara took her time to get to know them. It was always useful to have connections.

Héctor was a godsend. She and the charming fashion designer clicked instantly when they met. Zara had to admit, she was relieved to find a true friend in this town. Someone who could keep things exciting, make sure she wasn't bored to death.

Speaking of keeping things exciting, this party she'd heard about ought to do the trick. Allegedly there was going to be a party in the penthouse of the lodge, and Zara was eager to attend. She knew Héctor would be down to go as well, so she invited him over to her room in the lodge to get ready together. He had an excellent eye for fashion, she couldn't think of a better getting ready partner.

Zara threw on a silk robe and began her process of getting ready, going through the steps of her skincare routine, knowing that Héctor should be arriving any minute.

Location: Redfern AutoShop

Bryson let out a soft laugh at Kennedy's remark, his fingers instinctively massaging the back of his neck as he nodded in agreement... "Yeah.. but she's one heck of a fighter.. i'll tell ya' that." he replied, his gaze drifting to the sturdy frame of his truck, which he affectionately caressed as if it were a cherished companion...
The sight was amusing, yet it radiated a sense of genuine affection.. he's had it for all these years now, the vehicle was like family to him.

He turned to Anthony with a knowing nod, "You got it," and approached the front of his vehicle, lifting the hood with a satisfying click. Instantly, the pungent aroma of gasoline assaulted his senses, prompting a slight grimace to cross his face. "I've.. never smelt that before.. that's odd.." he murmured, waving a hand in front of his nose as he leaned in for a closer inspection.
Though he wasn't an expert, the unsettling scent hinted at trouble brewing beneath the surface... With a resigned sigh, he stepped back, relinquishing control to Anthony... "She's all yours, boss," he chuckled, tossing the keys into Anthony's waiting hand.

Afterward, he sank into a nearby couch, stretching his arms wide as he settled in. Despite being surrounded by unfamiliar faces, Bryson had a knack for feeling at ease in new environments, a skill honed from years of engaging with strangers.. taking in their stories.
He took a moment to absorb the cozy atmosphere of the shop, which was adorned in a manner reminiscent of some of the other buildings he had saw outside of this establishment.
A flicker of concern for his truck crossed his mind, but it was quickly overshadowed by a sense of reassurance; Anthony exuded confidence and competence.. surely he knew what he was doing.. right? He looked Brysons age, if not younger, but Bryson wasn't one to discriminate against such things.
As fatigue began to creep in, Bryson fought against the drowsiness that tugged at him, his head bobbing as he struggled to stay awake... The numerous cups of coffee he'd consumed earlier seemed to lose their potency in this warm, inviting town, and before he realized it, he succumbed to the pull of sleep, his arms crossed and his head gently nodding as he drifted off..

PrincessAveRedfern PrincessAveRedfern -Kennedy & Anthony

After savoring the last bite of her meal, Kennedy stood up and made her way over to the front of the shop to turn off the open sign, signaling the end of another busy day. As she glanced around, she spotted Anthony engrossed in his work on the car, his brow furrowed in concentration as he carefully maneuvered various tools. The rhythmic sounds of clinking metal and the faint smell of motor oil filled the air, a familiar backdrop to their daily routine.

In that moment, her eyes drifted to the couch in the corner of the shop, where she noticed Bryson had curled up and fallen asleep. Quietly, she made her way upstairs, careful not to disturb him. Once there, she rummaged through the linen closet, selecting a soft blanket and a fluffy pillow, imagining how cozy they would make him feel.

Returning to the shop, she knelt beside Bryson and gently placed the pillow next to him, ensuring he was comfortable. With a small smile, she draped the blanket over his slumbering form, tucking it in gently to ward off any chill. Satisfied that he was snug and warm, she stood up and turned her attention back to Anthony, who was still diligently working on the car.

"
Need a hand?" she called out, her voice breaking through the mechanical sounds. Anthony looked up, wiping the sweat from his brow with the back of his hand, and flashed her a grateful smile.

"Actually, yeah. If you could pass me that wrench over there," he replied, pointing toward the cluttered workbench. Kennedy quickly grabbed the tool and handed it to him, feeling a sense of purpose as they worked together, side by side, with Bryson peacefully dreaming just a few steps away.

Once Kennedy handed him the wrench, Anthony took a moment to assess the situation under the hood. He scrutinized the engine, considering the various components and possible issues. A few ideas flickered through his mind, but he hesitated to fully dive into any of them. With Bryson still asleep, he wanted to be cautious—there was no point in making assumptions about what had already been done to the truck.

He glanced over at Kennedy, who was watching him with curiosity. "
It looks like there might be a couple of things we could check," he said, keeping his tone casual. "But I’d rather wait until Bryson's awake so we can get his input on what’s been done. It’s best to have all the information before we start making any changes."

Kennedy nodded in agreement, understanding the importance of teamwork in a situation like this. They both turned their attention back to the truck, waiting patiently for Bryson to wake up and share his insights.

POV - Eileen Harigold
Eileen was caught off guard by the sudden passion in the girl's tone. Her whole demeanor, really. It shifted into this sudden form of rebellion, curiosity, and confidence. What surprised Eileen even more was the fact that she wanted her to come to this party too. It was like she was trying to do the both of them a solid right now. A solid that would provide a chance at freedom and independence. Eileen figured that there was more to this sudden need than meets the eye. But she didn't say anything. She just blinked with a dumbfounded look while staring the girl in the eyes, listening to her entire proposition.

Eileen actually didn't get the chance to speak because the girl turned and left immediately afterwards. But not before giving her name. Molly. The name rung in Eileen's head as she turned back towards the Christmas display. As much as she didn't want to believe it, she was actually starting to consider going as well. Maybe she had a point. They were both at the age where they should be allowed to experience the fun in life. But was this really the right way to do it? After all, Eileen is still young. What would her father think? Her going out to a rambunctious party full of drunk and rowdy strangers.

Eileen sighed as she turned the other direction, continuing on with her walk through the town. As much as she wanted to refuse, the offer was all too tempting now. Besides, she'd been kind of lonely here at Revelstoke. It could be a chance to meet new people and make some friends. It would be beneficial if she was gonna be here the whole month. Eileen pondered about her choices. If she did decide to go, she'll have to tell her dad. But...maybe. Just maybe.

iting her lip, Hollis glanced over at the fresh display of sweet treats before her eyes drifted back to Aveline. The idea of getting something for free sounded so tempting for her wallet, but she wasn’t the type to mooch off her friends—strangers, sure, but not her buddies. She wanted to contribute to Aveline’s success.

“Gotta show some love to my favorite bakery babe.”

With that, she stood up and walked over to the register, confidently slapping a twenty-dollar bill down beside the counter. She then turned to the display and waved Mikey over to join her in picking out the freshest baked goods.

As she scanned the options, Hollis couldn’t resist the allure of a classic—apple pie. No need for a plate; she simply grabbed a slice and brought it back to the table with her, holding it in her hand like a sweet prize. Taking a huge bite, she groaned in satisfaction as the rich, spiced flavors exploded on her tongue.

“Ohmygod, this is so goooood.”

Cheeks stuffed with pie, she grinned at Aveline, her eyes sparkling with delight.

“Y’know, food just tastes so much better when you haven’t had anything all day.”

Her gaze immediately shifted to Rachel, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips as she pointed a finger at her.

“Don’t yell at me, I was busy getting vengeance.”

Ivy Hayes

The Influencer

Ivy smiled at Naomi, saying,
"Hot cocoa it is!"
with a laugh.
"And yes, we will definitely be going to the party later, so don't worry."
As she spoke, she led Naomi through the bustling crowd toward one of the festival's best hot chocolate stands, nestled between twinkling lights and the enticing aroma of roasted chestnuts.

The Christmas Festival of Lights in Revelstoke was in full swing, and the atmosphere was electric. Ivy could feel the excitement in the air as families strolled by, bundled up in colorful scarves and mittens. Children ran past, their cheeks flushed from the cold, clutching candy canes and laughing as they chased each other beneath the dazzling displays of lights that adorned the trees and buildings.

When they reached the stand, Ivy ordered,
"I'll have one peppermint and back hot cocoa, please,"
while reaching into her wallet. She turned to Naomi with a grin and added,
"Order whatever you like; it's on me!"
as she extended her hand with the money.

As they waited, Ivy glanced around, taking in the festive scenery. Nearby, a group of children stood mesmerized in front of a massive, illuminated snowman, their faces aglow with wonder as they posed for pictures with it. A little further down, a couple was sharing a moment by a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, the lights reflecting in their eyes as they exchanged soft laughter.

Ivy could also hear the cheerful sounds of carolers gathering nearby, their harmonious voices rising above the joyful noise of the festival. They were dressed in warm, festive attire, singing classic holiday songs that resonated with the spirit of the season. The music wrapped around her like a warm embrace, making her heart swell with joy.

Finally, their hot cocoa was ready, and Ivy took a steaming cup, letting the warmth seep into her hands. She turned to Naomi, her heart full as she embraced the festive spirit that enveloped them.
"This festival is everything I love about Christmas,"
she said, smiling as they headed off to explore more of the festivities, ready for the memories they would create together.

Bryson was in a deep slumber, utterly undisturbed, out like a light.
Kennedy had thoughtfully draped a blanket over him and placed a pillow beneath his head, enhancing the allure of his peaceful rest.
Sprawled comfortably across the couch, Bryson felt a sense of bliss that had eluded him for far too long. The relentless travel and long drives had deprived him of a full night's sleep, and while the adventures were exhilarating, they had taken a toll on his mental state and disrupted his natural rhythm.

However, it wasn't long before he stirred, awakening with a start, a familiar routine that had become second nature... He felt as if he had indulged in a luxurious 8 hours of sleep, and instinctively, he reached for his phone nestled in his pocket, squinting at the screen to check the time.

It was 6 AM, and the first rays of sunlight were beginning to filter through the windows of the auto shop, casting a warm glow around the room... With a weary groan, he blinked against the heaviness of his eyelids, momentarily disoriented as he tried to piece together his surroundings.
Memories of the previous night flooded back, particularly the moment his truck had broken down, leading him to seek refuge in this very shop... as he shifted the blanket off himself and rubbed his eyes, he took a moment to absorb the scene around him.
The night felt like a hazy dream, a blur of exhaustion that had melded his experiences into one.

Slowly, as his mind began to clear, he recalled the state of his truck and rose from the couch, peering into the garage to see if Anthony had made any headway on the repairs.

Ozelia Mae Bonet

O
zelia stood anxiously in the toy store, her eyes darting down to her watch every few seconds as the cashier carefully scanned and bagged her items. She had been on her way to meet her classroom neighbor and friend, Darcy, at the town's iconic 'Festival of Lights,' along with her kids, Miles and Emmy. But, in a moment of weakness, she had stopped to pick up a few things for her classroom's treasure box. What was supposed to be a quick stop had turned into a longer visit than expected. She'd ended up wandering the aisles and grabbing more trinkets and toys than she'd originally planned.

As the cashier finally finished, Ozelia hurriedly gathered her things, her arms quickly filling with bags.

“Thank you!”

She rushed out of the warmth of the store and into the brisk winter air, the cold instantly hitting her skin like a slap compared to the warmth she had just left behind. She shivered slightly, pulling her coat tighter around herself as she speed-walked toward her car. With both arms loaded with shopping bags, she weaved through the crowds, careful but determined to make good time.

Ozelia wasn’t the type to be late. In fact, she prided herself on being punctual. She could never stand the thought of being rude by keeping her friends—or their kids—waiting.

She was almost there, her car just around the corner, when she accidentally bumped into a man walking in the opposite direction. Without missing a beat, she glanced back at him with an apologetic smile.

“Oh! Shoot! I’m sorry!”

But, as she turned her head to look back, she wasn’t paying attention to where she was stepping. Without warning, her foot slipped on a patch of ice on the sidewalk. Her leg shot out from under her, and before she could even react, the world seemed to tilt backwards.

In an instant, Ozelia crashed to the pavement with a dramatic squawk, the wind knocked out of her as her bags flew from her hands. The toys and trinkets she’d just picked up scattered through the air like confetti.

She lay there for a few moments, stunned, letting the blunder sink in. Slowly, she turned onto her side, propping herself up on her arms with a small groan, rubbing the back of her head.

Blair Rosewood

B
lair cruised through the streets, the sun starting to climb higher in the sky, casting a warm glow over the city. The hum of his cruiser was a steady background as he patrolled, the scent of fresh coffee filling the air. He took another sip of the rich, dark brew, savoring the warmth and flavor—his perfect morning companion.

As he rounded a corner, his eyes caught sight of a car pulled over to the side of the road, its hazard lights blinking. Blair instinctively slowed, his cruiser rolling down to a more cautious pace. It wasn’t unusual to see someone pulled over, but he always made a point to check—especially during his patrols.

Pulling up behind the car, he parked his cruiser and turned off the engine, stepping out into the crisp morning air. The streets were busier now, with the soft buzz of morning traffic starting to fill the atmosphere. Blair's boots made a steady rhythm on the pavement as he approached the car.

When he reached the driver’s side window, he bent down slightly, peering inside.

The man in the driver’s seat caught his attention—he was striking, with soft features and a calm demeanor. Blair quickly refocused, pushing the thought aside as he knocked gently on the window.

As the window slid down, Blair gave a polite but professional smile. His tone was soft but laced with concern.

"Hey there, everything alright?"
he asked, glancing at the man and then quickly scanning the interior of the car.
"I saw you pulled over. Just wanted to check if you were okay or needed any help."
He took a step back, giving the driver space, but his posture remained open and ready to assist.

;; Sidney
Sidney tried to avoid the winter festivities that occurred in town as best he could. But, since it seemed that Revelstoke transformed into a complete winter wonderland every time the holiday season rolled around. There was no escape from the hellscape of tourists and merry townsfolk. Especially when his work had him traveling to main street quite often, right in the middle of the festival.

Today, he had to make a delivery to a restaurant on main street. They'd ordered some chairs, and Sidney was quite pleased about how they'd turn out. He wasn't too excited to go in and talk to the more snobbish restaurant owner, but Sid knew he could meet unpleasantness with his own brand of unpleasantness. He traveled from his woodshop, which sat on the outskirts of town, to the heart of the town.

Sidney had figured the restaurant owner would be a pain in the ass, but right now this man was driving Sid up a wall with his interrogation about the chairs. "I assure you, these chairs are of the highest quality. I would know, I made them myself. And I don't put out shitty work." He took a step back, swung his foot, and began kicking one of the chairs rather harshly. "See? See?" he badgered. Sid stepped onto the chair and jumped as a final testament to it's sturdiness, stepping down after the point was made. "See!" The owner muttered out a statement of acceptance, and Sidney rolled his eyes. "Terrible doing business with you as always, let me know if you need anything else." He spoke harshly as he exited the building.

Now outside, Sidney took a deep breath of the fresh winter air before he began walking. "What an asshole. Remind me to never-" Sid began muttering to himself under his breath, but stopped when someone ran into him. "It's ok!" he exclaimed, continuing forward without looking back. Until he heard quite the commotion. He paused, turning back slowly to see the woman who had run into him laying on the ground, her possessions all over the ground.

"Are you alright miss?" He questioned, a flatness in is tone suggesting a hint of disinterest. Still, Sidney felt inclined to help this woman up, it was the right thing to do. "Here, let me give you a hand." Sid stepped towards the woman, leaning down slightly and offering his hand. The second she took it, the felt his foot slide forward. He fumbled to regain his balance, then found himself tumbling down.

He hit the floor, and found himself letting out a laugh. It was full and genuine, not an ounce of annoyance or displeasure in his tone. "Well, here we are." He chuckled slightly once more, glancing over at the woman who lay on the ground beside him.

Kennedy stopped Bryson just as he was about to make his way over to Anthony, a playful smile dancing on her lips. "Hey! He’s going to be working on that for a while," she said, her tone teasing as she dangled his keys in front of him. "He said we’re free to use it... how about the Festival of Lights?" she suggested softly, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

Dressed in a red and white plaid skirt paired with a snug white turtleneck, Kennedy felt both festive and confident. She had a few accessories in mind to complete her look, but she was pretty much ready to go for now. Kennedy had already informed Darcy of her plans, and the excitement bubbled within her.

"Please," she added, her voice laced with flirtation as she gazed at Bryson with a playful glimmer in her eyes. She could feel the chemistry between them, and the prospect of spending the evening together at the festival made her heart race.

Once Bryson agreed, Kennedy let out an excited yelp, her joy radiating as she hurried to finish getting herself ready. The anticipation of the evening filled her with a playful energy as they drove to the festival. Finding a parking spot had been a painstaking endeavor, but that minor hassle quickly faded as they finally arrived.

As they stepped out of the car, Kennedy’s giddiness bubbled over, and she immediately began scanning the area for her niece and nephew. The festival's twinkling lights cast a magical glow, making her feel like they were in their own little fairytale.

With a mischievous grin, she grabbed Bryson's hand, her fingers intertwining with his, and took off running toward some beautifully lit trees that sparkled like stars. "Come on, slowpoke! They have to be around here somewhere!" she teased, glancing back at him with a flirtatious glint in her eye. Laughter spilled from her lips as she pulled him along, feeling a rush of excitement. The festival was alive with colors and sounds, and Kennedy couldn’t wait to share this enchanting experience with her family, all while enjoying the thrill of Bryson by her side.

Aurie nestled into Roman's arm, gazing up at them with a playful smile that illuminated her face.
"I never realized just how neat you are, and your room reflects you more than I expected,"
she giggled, resting her head comfortably against their arm. The warmth of the moment wrapped around her like a cozy blanket, and it was in that instant that she became aware of her own fatigue. However, she quickly shook off the drowsiness, determined to keep the energy flowing.

"Alright, first things first: I want to see you try on some outfits!"
she declared, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"It’ll be fun to see how you can transform your look. And after that, we can pack some comfy clothes for later,"
she added with a chuckle, feeling quite pleased with her plan. Aurie loved the thought of mixing things up and making the day special, and she couldn't wait to see Roman's reactions as they explored new styles together.

Dallas heard the smashing of the glass and flinched ever so subtly that if someone wasn't looking for it, they wouldn't have seen it. The noise had flooded her body with anxiety and she was about to snap at the person she had run into, until she looked at him. He was cute. Very cute.

She took a pause and collected herself before saying,
"If you weren't so cute, I probably would have just decked you."
She bit her lip, trying to contain a smile. Dallas wasn't very subtle with flirting, if she wanted someone, she said it, outright.

She then looked at the smashed snow globe and frowned. She loved snowglobes. Well, her mother did. The thought made her a little sad, but she then looked at him and started to speak again,
"I'll make a deal with you, mysterious cute stranger. Show me where you bought that and I'll buy you another and one for myself."

now playing: are you bored yet? - wallows feat. clairo

The bakery smelt absolutely heavenly, as it always did. And when Aveline gave him the okay to grab a dessert for free, he certainly didn't hesitate to go behind the counter and picked out a fluffy blueberry muffin. Mikey wasted no time in peeling back the paper liner, balling it up and with a shout of "Kobe!", tossed it in the trash can. Or so he hoped it would have went. Instead, it landed on the floor next to the can, dampening his spirits for a brief moment of time. But, in typical Mikey fashion, he was back to being the same goofball he always was as he crossed the room to properly dispose of his waste.

After he had thrown the wrapper, he pulled up a chair up to the table, plopping down across from the others. "We're not going to speak of that incident. Those kids were evil, man. I swear, I saw them with torches and pitchforks out there." He bit into the muffin, the sweet taste overwhelming his senses immediately. "Ave, you've got to teach me how to bake these. I could totally be the Remy to your Linguini. Come on, just think about it..." Mikey's voice was verging on sing-song as he trailed off, sinking his teeth into another bite of muffin.

Spending time with his good friends had made his failures earlier today with the trials all but disappear. He had definitely had a full day of activities, especially with the eight-year-old beatdown and the ornament stealing. But the night was still young - who knew what else was held in store? "What kind of trouble are we getting in tonight, ladies? The Festival of Lights is in town, but I think it's kind of boring and crowded. Have you heard of anything fun going on tonight? I mean, I can make anything around here fun, but it's less pressure on me to be the life of the party when there isn't anything to do."

Being back in Revelstoke was a breath of fresh air for Darcy and her kids. She had truly missed this. She had only been back in town for about a week, securing a job at the local elementary school, which was the same one she had attended way back when. She would start teaching and the kids would start attending when school resumed in January. In the meantime, she was soaking up the 1 on 1 time with her kids.

Darcy also was currently living in her old house, which her parents kept as a vacation home as they had moved to Florida for their retirement. They hoped to come back for Christmas, weather permitting. One other plus was that Darcy was neighbors again with the Redfern's. The kids were Redfern's but had Darcy's maiden name as Asher Redfern had left when she was pregnant so she hadn't put him on the birth certificate. He didn't want to be involved with the twins so it wasn't like it mattered.

At the festival, the kids bounded down the main street, desperate to find their aunt.
"Wait for me!"
Darcy called after them, but it didn't matter, they had found her, as she heard Emmy screech, 'Aunt Kenny!' as if she hadn't seen her aunt a few days ago. Darcy smiled and walked up to introduce herself to the man accompanying Kennedy.

A
s she rubbed the throbbing spot on the back of her head, Ozelia heard a low voice call out, a hint of concern in the words asking if she was okay. His tone was so deadpan, though, that she couldn't tell if he was genuinely worried or just going through the motions. But even with the flatness in his voice, he was still approaching her, extending his hand as if ready to help.

She looked up at him, her lips quirking into a crooked smile.

“I'm alright, just wasn’t being very careful, unfortunately!”

As his hand reached out toward her, she took it with a small chuckle, her grip firm but warm.

“Thank you! What a gentlema-!”

Her praise was cut short when his foot shot out unexpectedly. Before she could even register what had happened, he stumbled and fell with a comical thud, landing right next to her on the icy ground.

Ozelia’s laughter bubbled up before she could stop it, a sharp bark of amusement escaping her lips. Quickly, she slapped a hand over her mouth, trying to stifle it. She didn't want him to think she was laughing at him, but the whole situation was just too ridiculous.

To her surprise, a moment later, he joined in, his laughter deep and warm, his eyes locking with hers as he turned on his back. The sound of his laugh was unexpected—rich and genuine, and it had an effect on her she hadn’t anticipated. It was like a sudden warmth spreading through her chest, catching her off guard.

Oh... she thought, her heart giving a little flutter. I like his laugh.

She couldn't help but grin wider, her teeth flashing as she watched him, both of them now sprawled out in defeat on the ice.

“Hehe. My hero~”

Sitting up slowly, she carefully adjusted herself on her knees before reaching out to grab his arm, helping him to sit up. Her eyes traced over him, concerned for any signs of injury from the fall. It wasn’t a hard one, but she wanted to be sure he wasn’t hurt—she wasn’t exactly the most graceful person herself.

“Sorry for dragging you down with me...and bumping you earlier. I should really be more careful in this weather.”

She lowered her gaze for a moment, a small flush of embarrassment coloring her cheeks. She wasn’t used to having someone else involved in her clumsy mishaps, and it made her feel sheepish. It was a small thing, but she hated the idea of burdening others.

What could be better than grabbing a hot cocoa with your best friend? Naomi sure couldn't think of anything that could possibly top that, except maybe...the hope that she'd have the time of her life at the party later that night after Ivy had confirmed that yes, they were both going to be in attendance. As they weaved their way in and out of the bustling crowds, Naomi couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of sadness as she watched the children play and run around. She could have been a mother. But instead, she prioritized her career over her husband, and ended up losing out on everything in the process.

She couldn't keep dwelling on the past, though. Her mind needed to stay in the present, no matter how hard it tried to work against her. Besides, they were at the hot cocoa stand now. "Fine, you can pay for this one, but I'm getting the next round of whatever we're buying. No ifs, ands, or buts, either, missy." Naomi took pride in providing for herself, especially when it came to paying for things. But she wasn't going to argue with her best friend over a cup of hot cocoa. As long as she got the next round of whatever it happened to be, she was okay. Naomi turned to the vendor, placing her order so that she wouldn't hold up the line that was forming behind them. "One regular hot cocoa with lots and lots of marshmallows, please."

This time of year was nice. While she wasn't a fan of the weather always being so wet and cold, the Christmas spirit seemed to seep through everyone's bones during the final month of the year. And despite the waking nightmare that had been this year, even Naomi felt compelled to deck the halls. She thanked the vendor for her drink once they had handed it to her before shuffling away from the line. A sip of cocoa sent a wave of warmth through her freezing body, which was so very needed at the moment. "I know, right? The lights are so dazzling, and the desserts are amazing. I just hate the crowds." She let out a low groan at the thought of getting through said crowd, knowing it would take them ages to do so. "Anyways, what's new with you? From our texts, it seems like you're going to get lucky after the party tonight."
