Maddox
Maddox was just stepping back through the door when he heard his name being called. Surprised, he turned and peered suspiciously into the crowd. Who would possibly want to talk to him?

The person in question wasn't that difficult to locate, as Maddox spotted the waving arm nearly right away. His eyes travelled to the face of the person, and the fist that had his heart in a chokehold of panic released slightly as he recognised his cousin Wren. His eyes then followed Wren's gesture to the window where another familiar face met him and increased his relief.

He really appreciated that Wren hadn't dragged him over there himself, rather extending an invitation and a choice along with it. It baffled Maddox just how persistent his cousin was in looking out for him. He wasn't used to that type of familial loyalty.

It was this train of thought that pushed him towards the two occupied spots next to the window. If Wren was willing to go out of his way for Maddox, it was only fair for him to make an effort as well. Plus, it would be nice to catch up with Belle now that he was in town again.

When he arrived next to his two acquaintances, he addressed Wren first. "Thank you for inviting me over. I'm sure you saw that I was just about to leave, but I thought I could at least come to say hello since I'm back in town." Then he turned to Belle with a slight inclination of his head. "Isabelle. It's good to see you again. How have you been?"

Anyone observing this interaction could have spotted an upward tilt to Maddox' mouth that could easily be called a smile. He would have denied the existence of any such thing, but he couldn't deny that he felt a sense of safety with these people where before there had only been stomach-churning anxiety. Maybe coming to this party hadn't been such a terrible idea after all. Maybe.

veline's face lit up with a radiant smile as she took in the sight of all her friends finally together. It felt like a small reunion, a moment she'd been looking forward to, and the excitement was palpable. As they gathered in a lively circle, she joined them for a few more shots, each one accompanied by a playful grimace that elicited laughter from the group. The warmth of camaraderie wrapped around her like a comforting blanket, and their energy was infectious as they prepared to head to the party.

Once they arrived at the penthouse, Aveline was momentarily taken aback by the sheer scale of the gathering. The lavish space was teeming with people, the thumping music reverberating through the air, and colorful lights flashing in a dizzying array. She felt a wave of anxiety wash over her; this vibrant scene was not exactly her comfort zone. Nevertheless, she made sure to stay close to her friends, drawing strength from their presence as she navigated the bustling crowd.

As the night unfolded, she continued to partake in the shots, the alcohol warming her from the inside out and loosening her inhibitions, if only slightly. With each passing moment, the details of the penthouse began to blur—faces became indistinct, and the music morphed into a rhythmic backdrop to her thoughts. Aveline, aware of the fine line between fun and excess, made a conscious decision to rein it in before she stumbled into a series of regrettable choices.

After a few hours filled with dancing and laughter, along with a surprisingly generous amount of water to counteract the drinks, Aveline finally decided it was time to leave. The energy of the party still pulsed in her veins as she navigated her way back to her apartment, the cool night air hitting her face like a refreshing wave.

Once inside, exhaustion washed over her like a tidal wave. She barely had the strength to kick off her shoes or peel off her clothes. Instead, she simply sank onto her bed, the soft sheets beckoning her into their embrace. Thankfully, she had thought ahead, bringing a bottle of water to her nightstand. As she closed her eyes, she braced herself for the rough morning ahead, knowing she would have to rise early to open the bakery. The thought of the early wake-up call lingered in her mind, but for now, she surrendered to the comfort of sleep, the distant echo of laughter and music still swirling in her dreams.

ennedy looked up at Bryson with a soft expression, her voice almost a whisper as she said,
“Ummm, we already sort of did the Festival of Lights, and there’s not much else to do.”
She watched him run his hands through his hair, an endearing gesture that made it hard for her to suppress a smile. It was one of those little moments that made her heart flutter, and she tried to focus on the conversation at hand.

She continued, a hint of hesitation in her tone.
“And they’re not really my friends, to be honest. They’re quite a bit older than me.”
She paused, recalling the two individuals who had become part of her life in recent months.
“One wrote a book about her life growing up here; she lived in this town for a while before moving away. The other is her longtime best friend—he’s mentioned almost every page. He’s like a ranger or something.”
She gave a slight shrug, her shoulders rising and falling with the weight of her words.
“But they’re not really a crowd that would be seen with me, since I’m so much younger than them.”

As the cold air sliced through Bryson’s jacket, she shot him a knowing look, her pale blue eyes sparkling under the glow of the lamp posts outside. The chill made her shiver slightly, and she couldn’t help but suggest,
“Why don’t we get in the truck? We can find somewhere to park and be warm.”
There was a hint of urgency in her voice, mixed with an invitation that lingered in the air. She bit her lip, a subtle gesture that conveyed her eagerness to share a moment with him, away from the biting cold and the weight of expectations.

Autumn Bloom
IMG_0299.gif

Autumn could feel the warmth of his gaze linger on her, making her heart skip in the most unsteady way. There was something about Manuel—his earnestness, the kindness in his eyes, the way he cared without even realizing it—that made her stomach twist in the most delightful way. As she unwrapped the pastries, the tension between them felt almost palpable, like the air was thick with something unsaid, yet understood by both of them.

She couldn't help but smile at the way he fumbled with his words, the way his blush deepened just from teasing. It was endearing, in a way that only Manuel could be. His nerves made him even more charming, his shy attempts at confidence only making her want to close the distance more. The way he said, "I feel... the same," had her heart beating harder, her lips tingling with the thought of what might come next.

She toyed with the delicate pastry in her hand, eyes meeting his as she slowly took a bite, savoring the sweetness. But her mind was elsewhere—focused entirely on him. The way he shifted in his seat, that playful smirk, the glint of mischief in his eyes… all of it made her want to reach out and pull him closer, to let the moment spill over.

Without thinking, she set the pastry down and leaned forward, closing the space between them. Her fingers brushed against his arm, sending a spark through her, and she caught his gaze with an intensity that felt like both a question and a promise.

"Manuel," she whispered, her voice soft, yet confident, "I think you’re more than just a good listener." Her breath hitched slightly as she watched his eyes flicker to her lips, a tell she didn’t miss. The same thought that had been tormenting him now swirled in her mind, and with a boldness she rarely allowed herself, she let it take control.

Before he could respond, Autumn leaned in, the scent of cinnamon and sugar lingering between them. Her lips met his in a kiss that was gentle at first—tentative, like a question waiting to be answered. But as the seconds passed, something shifted. The kiss deepened, becoming more urgent, as if they both had been holding their breath for too long. She could feel his heartbeat against hers, fast and strong, as though they were finally letting go of the tension that had been building between them all along.

When they finally pulled away, Autumn couldn't help but smile. She brushed a lock of hair behind her ear, her heart still racing. "I think you should stick around," she murmured, her fingers still tracing the edge of his sleeve. "You might just be worth the visit after all."

Talisa, wait!

His hand on her wrist stopped her, and she was spun back to face him. The surprise in his eyes mirrored her own, but there was something else there too—something raw, something that made her pulse race. Their faces were inches apart now, the dim light from the hallway casting soft shadows on his features, making him look both familiar and unfamiliar in the same breath.

She opened her mouth to speak, but the words died in her throat as he spoke again, his voice barely a whisper. “I’ll stay for a few minutes.

She could see the sincerity in his eyes, that quiet resolve that always had a way of reaching her, even when everything else felt like chaos. The old Lawson—the one who had been there for her through thick and thin—was still here, in the same way he had always been. But now, it felt like they were both standing on the edge of something new, something that neither of them had figured out yet.

And for the first time in a long while, Talisa found herself wanting to jump.

Her lips parted, and the words came out before she could stop them. “I didn’t expect you to come after me.” Her voice was soft, vulnerable in a way she hadn’t allowed it to be in front of anyone in years.

She could see the hesitation in his eyes, the way he seemed to be battling something inside. Was it the years between them? The roles they now played? Or was it something deeper that neither of them had dared to face?

Stepping closer, Talisa raised her hand, her fingers brushing against his jaw. It was a simple touch, but it carried with it everything they hadn't said. "I know you want to protect me, Lawson," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion she didn't want to admit. "But I don’t need it anymore." She paused, her eyes searching his, hoping he could see beyond the words and understand the depth of her feelings. "I just need you."

Her breath hitched as she stood there, so close to him now, the words hanging between them like a promise unspoken. They were both adults, and the world around them had changed, but in this moment, everything felt suspended in time, just the two of them standing on the edge of what could be.

And then, without overthinking it, she leaned in, her lips brushing against his. The kiss was tentative at first, unsure, but as his hands found her waist and she slid her arms around his neck, the rest of the world seemed to fade away.

Elowen felt the rush of adrenaline as Brandon's hand slipped from hers, yet she could sense the tension in the air, thick and electric. He followed her to the mini bar, but his stern expression only fueled her determination. "Come on, loosen up!" she teased, but his words hit her like a cold splash of water. "I'm on the clock, Elowen. Don't be stupid." His frustration was evident, and she couldn't help but smirk at the way he tried to maintain his composure. Did he really think he could resist her? She watched him down the bourbon, a familiar sight that only made her more determined to break through his walls. His gaze was intense, and for a moment, she reveled in the challenge of it all.

When he stepped closer, her heart raced. The way he spoke—his words sharp yet laced with an undeniable heat—sent a thrill through her. "Selfish, reckless, spoiled child," he said, each word punctuated with a breath of tension that seemed to pulse between them. She found herself backed into the doorway, the world outside fading away as he pulled her into the bathroom. The door clicked shut behind them, and she could feel the weight of his presence, the heat radiating from him. "You can't even let me do my job properly because you can't take no for an answer, you little brat." His words ignited something wild inside her, a mix of defiance and desire.

And then he kissed her. It was unexpected and yet everything she had been teasing him toward. She melted into the kiss, frustration and passion colliding in a whirlwind that left her breathless. His grip was firm, possessive, and she responded in kind, wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling him closer as if to erase the distance that had always been there.

When he finally pulled away, their faces were mere inches apart, and she was still reeling from the intensity of it all. "Is this what you wanted?" he asked, his breath warm against her skin. A mischievous grin spread across her face, and she leaned in just enough to tease, "Maybe I just wanted to see how far I could push you." The thrill of the chase was intoxicating, and she relished the moment, knowing that this was just the beginning.

Elowen could see the conflict in Brandon's eyes, a storm of emotions swirling beneath the surface. The kiss had ignited something primal between them, and she could feel the pulse of adrenaline coursing through her veins. The bathroom felt like a secret world, a cocoon where the party faded into a distant hum, and it was just the two of them, tangled in a web of tension and undeniable chemistry.

His brow furrowed, lips still inches from hers, and she couldn't help but admire the way he struggled to maintain that stern façade. There was something thrilling about pushing his buttons, about drawing out the passion she knew lay just beneath his controlled exterior. "You think you can just barge in here and dictate how I live my life?" she challenged, her voice soft yet laced with mischief. “I’m not a child, Brandon. I know what I want. And I don’t care if my dad scares you. He doesn’t scare me.

Elowen leaned in closer, tilting her head slightly, her lips brushing against his as she whispered, “I want you, Brandon. I want to see how far you’ll go when I push you.” The heat of the moment wrapped around them, and she could practically feel the tension crackling in the air. “Or are you just afraid of what happens if you let go?” She knew he was fighting against the tide of attraction, but she could sense the cracks forming in his armour, the way his resolve wavered in the face of her daring confidence. In that charged moment, she pressed her body against his, feeling the heat radiating from him, the strength in his frame. “You can be the good guy all you want, but I see the real you, Brandon. The part that’s just as reckless as I am.

awson gently grasped her wrist, his touch both tender and protective, as she conveyed that she no longer needed his protection. The words struck him harder than he anticipated; it had been years since they last saw each other, and the distance had left an ache in his heart. He had watched her grow from a spirited girl into a strong, independent woman, but hearing her declare her autonomy felt like an unexpected blow.

As she took a step closer, the air thickened between them, and he found himself captivated by her presence. His breath caught in his throat when she confessed that she just needed him, her eyes shimmering with vulnerability. In that moment, the world around them faded, and all he could focus on was the warmth radiating from her. When her lips finally met his, it ignited a spark he couldn’t resist. Instinctively, he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss, losing himself in the intoxicating sensation of her softness against him.

Seconds felt like hours as they lingered in the embrace, the kiss conveying unspoken emotions that had been buried for far too long. Eventually, he pulled back, gazing down at her with a mix of awe and confusion.
“Talisa,”
he murmured, his voice a blend of huskiness and tenderness, struggling to find the right words. A whirlwind of thoughts swirled in his mind, each one more perplexing than the last. He remembered the days when he used to babysit her, filling his heart with a sense of nostalgia and protectiveness. But now, she was no longer that innocent child; she stood before him as a captivating woman, and he was grappling with feelings that felt both thrilling and bewildering.

Why was he experiencing this rush of emotions? Why did the simple act of kissing her unravel so many complicated thoughts and feelings within him? He found himself in uncharted territory, feeling a blend of affection, longing, and confusion that left him questioning everything he thought he understood about their relationship. In that moment, he realized that the bond they once shared had transformed into something deeper, something he had never anticipated, and he was left to navigate the complexities of his heart's unexpected desires.

lair couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at his lips at Soren’s words. He had been worried that his attempt at casual conversation might’ve come off as too much, but the other man’s easygoing response put him at ease.
"I'm sure you're not as bad as you think,"
Blair chuckled, the image of Soren gracefully gliding across the ice forming in his mind. It was hard to imagine someone like him struggling in the rink.
"Even if you are though, Roman, the instructor, is excellent. He's super patient, and he’s really great with beginners."

As Blair spoke, he slowed the cruiser to a stop in front of Revelstoke Mountain Lodge. The lodge, tall and majestic, was bathed in warm light, casting a soft glow against the cool night air. Blair couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in his town, especially with it looking so inviting in the evening light.
"Well, here we are,"
he said with a relaxed smile, the words slipping from his lips as if to reaffirm the pleasant moment. He turned off the engine and stepped out of the car, greeted by the chilly evening air. He quickly moved to the back of the cruiser, opening the trunk and pulling out Soren’s suitcase, careful to handle it with ease.
"Let me get this for you,"
Blair offered, carrying the suitcase over to the entrance of the lodge, his boots crunching softly in the snow as he walked. He paused for a moment before turning back to Soren, noticing he already had the other bags in hand.
"I hope you have an amazing time here,"
he continued, his tone warm and genuine.
"Revelstoke’s a wonderful place to just relax and unwind, especially during the holidays."
Blair took a small step back, giving Soren a chance to gather his things.
"Well, I’ll let you get settled in,"
Blair said with a friendly nod.
"Take care of yourself, alright? You’ve got a beautiful place to enjoy while you're here."

As Blair reached for the door of his cruiser, he gave Soren one last glance, a genuine smile still lingering on his face. He slid back behind the wheel, starting the car and slowly pulling away, the engine purring gently in the quiet night.
"I hope I see you around town, enjoying everything Revelstoke has to offer!"
Blair called out through the open window, his voice warm, the smile still in his voice. He waved one last time, watching as the lights of the lodge faded in his rearview mirror, the snow-covered streets ahead of him as he drove off into the peaceful winter night.

uriela gazed intently at Roman, her heart swelling as she watched them struggle to articulate their feelings. A warm smile crept across her face, reflecting the admiration she felt for the care they took with every word. Each pause seemed to echo with the weight of their thoughts, and she found herself captivated by their sincerity. When Roman finally fell silent, she shifted on the bed, kneeling before them, and wrapped her arms around their neck, pulling them closer. Leaning in, she pressed a soft, lingering kiss to their lips, feeling a rush of affection.
“I love you for who you are, Roman,”
she murmured softly, her eyes searching theirs for understanding.

In that moment, all the mischief that had danced in her heart earlier melted away, replaced by a profound sense of connection. She brushed a stray hair from their face, her touch gentle and reassuring.
“I don’t need someone who is wealthy or anything like that,”
she added, letting her hand move to caress their cheek with tenderness.
“Romi Bear, my darling,”
she continued, her voice steady yet filled with emotion. She took a moment to carefully choose her words, wanting to convey the depth of her feelings.
“For as long as you’ve known me, you’ve always been the one to protect me, to keep me grounded and out of trouble. I know I can be a handful sometimes—like when I drink too much or act out just to get under my father’s skin. But even with all that, you are the one person I could never stand to hurt.”

As she spoke, she slowly wrapped her arms more securely around their neck, pulling them even closer.
“Never apologize for being yourself,”
she said earnestly.
“I see the joy you experience when you let loose, but I also recognize a side of you that I didn’t expect to encounter. It takes courage to show that vulnerability, and I want you to know how much I appreciate it.”

Her gaze remained locked with Roman’s, and she felt an unspoken understanding pass between them. She didn’t want them to feel burdened by their struggles; instead, she wanted to uplift them.
“You are so much more than you realize, and I’m here to remind you of that,”
she whispered, her voice filled with warmth and sincerity. In that quiet moment, Aurie felt a deep bond solidify between them, one built on love, acceptance, and an unwavering commitment to support one another through life’s challenges.

he tension that had been gnawing at him started to dissolve with Belle’s sweet words, and Wren could feel his body slowly relaxing from the rigid stance he’d unconsciously adopted. His smile softened as he took a sip from his drink, the cool refreshment helping him settle a little more into the moment.
"No problem at all, Belle. Anything for you."
He offered her a reassuring smile, his eyes brightening as the warmth of her kindness eased his nerves.
As if on cue, Maddox appeared at the window, and Wren couldn’t help but let his smile widen at the sight of his cousin joining them.
"Not at all, thank you for coming over. I'd love to have more people near me that I actually know, so family is exactly who I want around right now."
He paused for a moment, his gaze flicking between Belle and Maddox, feeling a little more at ease with the familiar faces.
"And look, now the gang’s all back together! Well, almost—save for Raven, that is."
He tilted his head towards Belle, noticing how she seemed to brighten at the sight of Maddox. The way her face lit up made Wren’s heart warm, and he couldn’t help but feel a sense of comfort in the reunion.
"And even better that you get to catch up with the town’s famous writer in the meantime~,"
Wren teased gently, a playful smirk dancing at the corners of his mouth. He wasn’t joking, though. He knew that a lot of the townsfolk considered Belle a bit of a local celebrity, and he was proud to see her shine.
Leaning back against the wall, Wren let the conversation flow between the two, content to watch the easy rapport between Belle and Maddox. He could tell Belle was excited to catch up with one of her childhood friends, and a quiet sense of gratitude settled in his chest for the warmth of the moment.

Bryson raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Kennedy's words... "Oh, is that so?" he replied, nodding his head in rhythm with her speech, a crooked grin spreading across his face. It was a challenge to remain still in the biting cold, and he shifted slightly, trying to find some warmth.
"A book, huh? That's quite an achievement. My dad was a journalist.. he always dreamed of penning a book himself. Kudos to them! I honestly don’t think I could muster the focus to sit down and write one," he chuckled, his humor shining through as it often did.

"Age doesn’t really matter when it comes to friendships, at least that’s my perspective... You seem pretty mature for your age, Kennedy." His tone was genuine, and for a fleeting moment, he ignored the chill that danced along his spine, his gaze locked onto hers...
However, her suggestion to head to the truck snapped him back to reality, and he shivered, nodding eagerly... "Yeah..no clue why we're choosing to suffer out here.. Let’s go!" There was a playful lilt in his voice as he bounded forward, nearly losing his footing on the slick ice.

He turned back, eyes wide with mock alarm... "Just, uh, be careful..please.." he laughed to himself, extending his hand for her to take.
The last thing he wanted was for either of them to take a tumble.. if they were going down, they might as well do it together... "If I slip, you’re coming down with me!" he called out, his laughing breaths visible in the frigid air, swirling like smoke.

At last, they reached the truck, and Bryson opened the door for her, a small smile playing on his lips as he watched her climb in.
He followed suit, sliding into the driver’s seat and immediately reaching for the heater. "Let’s get some warmth in here," he said, turning the dial and rubbing his hands together, creating a small pocket of heat between them.
He inhaled deeply, savoring the warmth that began to envelop him as the heater roared to life. "Much better," he declared, extending his hands toward the warm blasts of air, a wave of satisfaction washing over him as the chill began to dissipate.

Her hand still rested on his chest, her fingers lightly brushing the fabric of his shirt as she looked up at him, the words she'd spoken hanging awkwardly between them. The kiss had been unexpected—something neither of them had planned—but it felt like it had cracked open something that neither of them could ignore now.

She swallowed, unsure of what to say next, but knowing she had to say something to break the tension that lingered in the air between them. He was looking at her with that mixture of surprise and confusion, the same way he had when they first saw each other again after all these years. And she couldn't blame him for it. She felt just as lost in this new version of their relationship as he probably did.

"Did you ever think we’d end up here?" she asked quietly, her voice light, trying to keep the conversation casual, even though her heart was still racing from the kiss. It wasn’t so much a question for him, but more of a way to keep things from getting too serious, too fast. He didn’t answer right away, and she could see the wheels turning in his head, but she didn’t expect him to have an answer. He was probably just as caught off guard as she was.

I didn’t know…” she said after a moment, shrugging a little, her gaze flickering away from his, trying to settle herself. “I mean, I didn’t expect any of this. It’s been a long time.” Her words came out a bit awkward, but she didn’t care. She was just trying to keep it light, to not make this more than it was. “But, uh… I’m not looking for anything complicated. I just—" She paused, not sure how to explain the mix of feelings running through her. “I just wanted to see you again. To see what this would be like, after everything.

Her fingers gently traced a line on his shirt as she took a small step back, giving them both a little space to breathe. It wasn’t about trying to figure out where they fit into each other’s lives after all this time—it was about something more immediate. Something in the moment. She met his eyes again, a hint of a smile playing on her lips, though she wasn’t sure what kind of smile it was. “I don’t know what comes next. I just… don’t want to pretend like nothing’s changed,” she said, trying to keep things simple, but her voice softening a little with the truth of it. “I guess… we’ll just see, right?

She looked at him, not with expectation, but with curiosity—curiosity about how they would navigate this weird, unexpected reunion. She wasn’t in any rush to turn it into something it wasn’t. And maybe, just maybe, that made things feel a little easier. “Anyway, I’m not going anywhere for now, if that’s what you’re wondering,” she added with a small laugh, trying to break the tension in a way that felt like it belonged to them. “I’m visiting T’kaya for a few weeks… if you want to see where things go. No pressure…

    Accepting,cautious.

Manuel's attention was irresistibly drawn to Autumn as she savored her pastry, but it wasn't the flaky treat that captivated her.. it was him.

Her gaze, intense and unwavering, sent a shiver coursing through him, igniting a mix of confusion and exhilaration... For a fleeting moment, he found himself lost in the depths of her eyes, unable to decipher the thoughts swirling within her mind. Then, in a surprising turn, she set the pastry aside and leaned in closer, her fingers lightly grazing his arm, sending electric sparks through his skin.

This was uncharted territory for him.. she had never crossed this boundary before. His heart raced, pounding against his ribcage as warmth flooded his cheeks, a vivid blush betraying his inner turmoil.
The heat radiating from him was palpable, and he could almost hear the frantic rhythm of his heartbeat echoing in the silence between them.

"Manuel."

The sound of his name, spoken softly yet firmly, sent another wave of shivers down his spine, a reaction so intense it felt almost surreal. He had harbored feelings for her for what felt like an eternity, yet this moment was unlike anything he had ever experienced...

Was she truly teasing him, or was there something deeper at play?

"I think you're more than just a good listener."

Her words hung in the air, resonating within him, yet he struggled to fully grasp their meaning. "A-Autumn...?" he stammered, desperately trying to articulate a coherent thought, fearing he might appear foolish. What could he possibly be beyond a mere 'good listener'? The pride he took in that role now felt overshadowed by a whirlwind of questions. Did she see him as something more, or was this a fleeting moment of ..whimsy?

His gaze involuntarily drifted to her lips, glistening and inviting, and he felt his heart race anew... "I don't—" ..he began, but before he could finish, she closed the distance, pressing her lips against his. To his astonishment, he didn’t pull away.. instead, he leaned into the kiss, his eyes widening in surprise before fluttering shut.

It was soft and tentative at first, but as he instinctively cradled her head with one hand, he felt the world around them fade away.
The barrier of the table between Manuel and Autumn felt like an invisible chain, binding him from the warmth of her embrace that he so desperately craved.

As he pondered the best way to navigate this tension, she suddenly leaned back, causing his breath to hitch in his throat, each inhale heavy with anticipation as he searched her face for clues.
His nerves, once a chaotic storm, had transformed into a simmering desire, a longing that eclipsed any previous anxiety.

"I think you should stick around,"

..her voice a soft invitation that resonated deep within him. In that moment, he felt an undeniable pull, a magnetic force that anchored him to her presence.. he had no intention of leaving, not now, not ever.
The thought of remaining in this room, enveloped in her essence, was a dream he was willing to chase for eternity..

"You might be just worth the visit after all..."

The words hung in the air, and he found himself momentarily puzzled..had he not been worth her time before?.. But the question faded as quickly as it arose, overshadowed by the thrill of the moment.

With a newfound confidence, he leaned into the exchange, his voice dripping with a sultry promise... "I can... make it even more worth it, Autumn... if you'll let me." Rising from his seat, he moved and sat at the edge of the bed, extending his hand toward her..

Though inexperienced in these kinds of matters..with Autumn, everything felt instinctual, as if they were two pieces of a puzzle finally fitting together.
As she took his hand, he drew her closer, inhaling the intoxicating scent of cinnamon and apple spice that was uniquely hers.

Pulling back slightly, he gazed up at her with a look of pure adoration, his pupils wide with longing... "What do you want, Autumn?" ..he asked, his expression almost pleading, as he raised her hand to his face and.. tenderly pressed soft kisses along her hand, each one a gentle promise, a vow to cherish her and to tread carefully, ensuring that.. whatever this was.. it went at a pace in which she was comfortable with.

The energy in the room seemed to heighten the moment Mikey walked in, and it only made her excitement grow. As soon as she stood next to him, wearing her matching Grinch onesie, she couldn’t help but grin. This festive little touch was exactly what she needed to kick off the night right.
"Hell yes, I love cinnamon!"
she cheered, taking the bottle Mikey had pulled out and taking a long swig of whiskey. She didn’t mind mixing her light liquors with her dark; it was a true reflection of her energy tonight—chaotic and carefree.
The next hour was a blur of laughter, teasing, and more shots. Hollis found herself completely immersed in the excitement, joking around with her group of friends, her buzz steadily climbing the more she drank. Every joke felt funnier, every song playing felt like it was made for her, and every moment felt like it was leading up to the grand finale: Elowen’s party.
Once they were thoroughly buzzed and in high spirits, they finally made their way to the penthouse. The dim lighting, the pounding music, and the crowded space—it was like walking into a dream. Hollis couldn't help but feel like she belonged here, like she could lose herself in this wave of energy. The place was alive, and so was she.
She had made plans to meet up with Maddox, but as the night went on, she realized there were more people at Elowen’s place than she’d originally expected. The sea of faces and chatter made it hard to even spot him, and after a while, she shrugged it off. It wasn’t like Maddox to be in a crowd this big anyway, so it didn't surprise her that he might’ve decided not to show.
The party stretched on, but eventually, Hollis found herself making her way back home, tipsy and content. She had debated crashing on Elowen’s couch for a moment, considering how cozy it seemed, but in the end, the comfort of her own bed called her home. She couldn't fight the pull of the familiar sheets.
As she crawled into bed, she let out a contented sigh.
Tomorrow morning’s hangover would be brutal. And it'd probably turn into an uphill battle of trying to let her body recover as she crawled from the toilet back into her bed.
But she’d leave that for future Hollis to worry about.
For now, she closed her eyes, letting the remnants of the night fade away into peaceful sleep.

What other T state was there? There was Texas, of course, but...yeah, was it any surprising to find out that Reece wasn't that good at geography? But when Dallas brought up the Titans, it all clicked. Football terminology was the best way to get into his heart. "Tennessee? Really? Dude, the Titans totally suck ass this season." He grinned, knowing damn well that his favorite Seahawks had just been eliminated from playoff contention. But the Titans had already been ruled out a long time ago. "Now, the Volunteers on the other hand...actually, didn't they just get blown out by Ohio State?" Reece's eyes glistened with a familiar teasing glow.

As fun as it was to meet new people, especially Canadians, there was nothing better than meeting a fellow Yankee. And to find a girl who was actually into the football scene? Be still his beating heart. It was like they had forged this unspoken bond, a secret between the two of them that only they could share. It filled him with all sorts of feelings. Pride was one of them. It was definitely one of them.

"Me, not an NFL guy? Dallas, I was this," he held up his thumb and forefinger, squeezing them narrowly, "close to playing in it. But that's another story for another day. I've, uh, gotta get that snowglobe now if I want it to get shipped out before Christmas."

And so, to make a long story short, everything eventually got done - the snowglobe was bought, and Reece was able to ship it out (along with his father's gift) back home to Oregon (for a fee, of course). Thus, this marked the end of the Dallas and Reece encounter.

zelia turned Sidney's name over in her mind, rolling it around like it was something new and exciting. She felt an intense urge to test the name out on her tongue, there was something about it that caught her attention, a rhythm to it that made her want to repeat it. But before she could indulge herself, her focus shifted back to him as he tried her name, the way it sounded coming from his lips making her stomach flutter unexpectedly. She had to bite her lip to keep the wide smile from completely overtaking her face.
"Nice to meet you too, Sidney."

His momentary pause before saying his goodbyes made her brows furrow slightly, though she kept the smile steady on her lips. It hadn't been a long conversation—just a brief, unexpected meeting—but something about the interaction had stirred a pleasant warmth in her chest, and she couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed at the thought of him leaving so soon. She wasn’t sure why, but there was a lingering feeling, almost as though she wished she could keep talking to him.
"Oh, yeah, nice talking to you too! Have a happy holiday, Sidney!"

She lifted her hand in a cheerful wave, watching him slowly walk back, her gaze lingering for a moment longer. He was already slipping back into his routine, the moment between them fading into the background like so many fleeting encounters.
As Sidney disappeared from view, Ozelia sighed softly to herself, turning her attention back to her shopping bags sitting innocently at her feet in the snow. Normally, she’d be frustrated with herself for tripping like she had. But today, she couldn’t help but feel strangely thankful for that little tumble. She doubted she’d see the handsome stranger again, but the memory of his lopsided grin and the warmth of his laugh was more than enough to make up for the minor pain of her fall. It was funny how something so small could brighten a whole day.
With a light, almost giddy hum, she skipped toward her car, her mood having lifted even more. What had been an ordinary trip had turned into something far more delightful, and she couldn’t help but smile again, as if the world had suddenly become just a little bit brighter.

After Molly had helped Summer find something to wear, it was off to the party. She quickly found Eileen in the crowd and then it was on. Shot after shot went down smoothly, even though she had never really drunk that much before, if at all. For so long, Molly had always been the cookie-cutter, innocent little good girl that her parents expected her to be. But tonight, that was all about to change. Never again would she be anyone else's person. From now on, she was only doing things for Molly, not anyone else.

Before she knew it, she was already too far gone to stop. She had blacked out. So, she didn't remember anything that happened from then on. Those around her sure would - and some of it wasn't too nice. But at the end of the night, Molly had ended up crashing in Summer's room.

uriela gazed intently at Roman, her heart swelling as she watched them struggle to articulate their feelings.

POV - Roman Marshall
Roman was caught by slight surprise when they felt Auriela wrap her arms around their neck. They gazed into her hazel eyes before feeling her soft lips press against theirs, causing their eyes to go wide and their cheeks to heat up for a moment. They quickly smiled however, as a rush of warmth filled up within them. Roman continued to gaze into Auriela's eyes as she spoke. Her voice was like soft velvet, filled with the same amount of passion in her words.

Every word of encouragement from her made Roman feel a flutter within their stomach. As if all their worries had just melted away as she expressed her feelings for Roman. As she caressed their cheek, Roman gently held her hand against it, not wanting the tenderness of the moment to end. It felt so good knowing that she cared for them just as much as they did for her. That the two of them were truly happy to just have each other, and each other alone.

Roman said nothing more. But they didn't need to. Neither of them did. The two were simply happy to just be sharing this moment with one another. Roman chuckled with affection as they wrapped their arms around Auriela as well, smiling at her before quickly pulling her down with them to the bed. The two laugh at the brief moment of playfulness before just simply snuggling with each other as they lay on the bed, finally resting after their eventful night. Just the other's presence was enough to console the happy couple. They were perfect together. So together they'll stay.

elle glanced between Maddox and Wren, her face lighting up with a beaming smile that seemed to radiate joy.
"Maddox, darling! It's absolutely wonderful to see you again,"
she exclaimed, her voice filled with warmth and excitement. It had been too long since they had all gathered like this, and she could feel the vibrant energy of the night coursing through her.

Having just finished her drink, she casually scanned the table beside her and spotted a random full glass that someone had left behind. In a moment of carefree spontaneity, she decided to indulge.
"Oh, what the heck!"
she thought, and without a second thought, she grabbed the glass and downed the whisky in one swift motion. The rich, smoky flavor hit her hard, sending a jolt through her system.
"Whoa!"
she exclaimed, bursting into laughter as the warmth spread through her.

Turning to her dear best friend and her ex, she couldn't help but giggle, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "I’m just so happy that the entire family is in town. Can you imagine how thrilled Grandma must be? It’s like a family reunion she’s been dreaming of!" Her excitement was infectious, and she felt a wave of nostalgia wash over her as memories of past gatherings flooded her mind.

With a radiant smile still plastered on her face, Belle lost herself in the music and the lively atmosphere of the party. She continued to dance, her movements full of carefree joy, swirling around as she sipped on her drink and engaged in animated conversations with Maddox and Wren. Every laugh, every story shared, felt like a precious moment to cherish. The night was still young, and Belle was determined to enjoy every last bit of it, surrounded by the warmth of friendship and the love of family.

ennedy chuckled softly as she grabbed Bryson's hand, allowing him to pull her along with an infectious enthusiasm, declaring,
"They would fall together."
A curious thought flickered through her mind—why did she secretly wish for that to happen? What was it about this moment that made her feel so at ease with the idea? As she looked up at Bryson, a wave of warmth washed over her, igniting something deep inside. It was a sensation she hadn't anticipated, a mixture of excitement and vulnerability that made her heart race.

Once inside the truck, she settled into the seat, still riding the high of their playful interaction. With a playful sparkle in her eyes, she teased,
"Would you like your jacket back, kind sir?"
Her heartfelt grin was genuine, radiating warmth that seemed to fill the small space between them. She watched him as he fumbled to warm his hands, the chill of the air outside clinging to them both.

Before she could think twice, she leaned over and took his hands into her own, her touch gentle yet reassuring.
"You know, they say that if it's freezing outside, cuddling naked can keep you warm. So, holding hands like this should have the same effect, right?"
she giggled, the absurdity of using a camping metaphor in such a tender moment making her laugh even more. It felt surreal, yet somehow fitting, as if they were creating their own little world within the confines of the truck.

As they sat there, her pale blue eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief, reflecting the playful energy that pulsed between them. She held his hands, feeling the warmth radiate from them, and couldn't help but allow her gaze to drift back to his lips every so often. It was an involuntary reaction, driven by an unspoken connection that hung in the air like a soft melody. Every glance was charged with a tension that was both exhilarating and terrifying, leaving her wondering what thoughts lay behind his own expressive eyes.

In that moment, time seemed to stand still as they shared a quiet intimacy, a blend of laughter and longing filling the space around them. Kennedy felt a sense of comfort in their closeness, each heartbeat echoing a desire that both thrilled and frightened her. As she continued to hold his hands, she realized that this was more than just a fleeting moment; it was a glimpse into something deeper, something that could change everything. The thought sent butterflies dancing in her stomach, leaving her to wonder just how far this newfound connection could take them.

awson gazed down at Talisa, mesmerized by the way her delicate fingers danced across the fabric of his shirt, tracing intricate patterns as if mapping out the uncharted territory of their connection. Her touch sent a jolt through him, igniting a mixture of nostalgia and curiosity. He found himself irresistibly drawn to her expressive eyes, which shimmered with unspoken emotions, before shifting his focus to her lips, which seemed to beckon him closer.

When she took a step back, a sudden pang of longing surged within him, prompting him to instinctively pull her closer, his hands resting possessively on her waist.
"You wanted to see me again?"
he asked, his voice barely a whisper, yet laden with intensity. His mind raced to comprehend the depth of her intentions. After all these years, since she was just a child, the fact that she sought him out filled him with a mix of hope and confusion. What could this possibly mean? Was she truly curious about him, or was there something more?

"You wanted to know what it would be like… kissing me? Tali, how long have you been contemplating this?"
The words tumbled from his lips, each question thick with disbelief and wonder. His heart raced as he processed the reality of the moment; here they were, two souls reconnecting after a lifetime apart. He had always thought of her fondly, but now, the thought that she had been thinking of him in this way sent a thrill down his spine.

Throughout his barrage of questions, he never allowed her to slip away. In fact, his grip on her waist tightened just a bit more, as if he were afraid to let go of this fragile moment. He leaned in, closing the distance between them, his lips hovering a mere inch from hers, the air thick with unspoken tension.
"So, tell me, how long have you had a crush?"
he murmured, his breath mingling with hers, the intimacy of the moment electrifying. The world around them faded, leaving only the two of them suspended in this pivotal moment, filled with possibilities and uncharted emotions.

Talisa felt the warmth radiating from Lawson as he gazed down at her, his expression a mix of wonder and something deeper that set her heart racing. The way his eyes lingered on her fingers as they traced the fabric of his shirt made her acutely aware of the connection blossoming between them. It was dizzying, the memories flooding back—childhood laughter, shared secrets, and the undeniable bond that had always lingered just beneath the surface.

When she took a step back, she felt a rush of vulnerability, a pang of something raw that she couldn’t quite place. His instinctive pull brought her back into his orbit, his hands resting possessively on her waist, and she couldn’t deny the thrill that coursed through her at his touch. “You want to see me again?” he whispered, his voice low and intense, sending shivers down her spine.

Talisa searched his eyes, feeling a mix of excitement and trepidation at the realization of what this moment could mean. “I do,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper, tinged with both fear and exhilaration. The memories of their shared past loomed large, but now there was an undeniable current between them, a possibility that had her heart fluttering with anticipation.

His next words caught her off guard, each question falling like a pebble into the still water of their reunion, sending ripples of disbelief and curiosity through her. “You wanted to know what it would be like… kissing me? Tali, how long have you been contemplating this?

The weight of his gaze made her pulse quicken, and she felt herself flush under his scrutiny. It was both thrilling and terrifying to think that he had noticed her feelings, that he too had felt the pull of their past. “I... I’ve thought about it,” she confessed, her breath hitching as she met his gaze. “More than I probably should have.”

As he leaned in, the distance between them shrinking to a tantalizing inch, Talisa could feel her heart racing in response to the intensity of the moment. His grip tightened slightly, and she felt both anchored and adrift, the world outside fading into oblivion. “So, tell me, how long have you had a crush?” he murmured, his breath mingling with hers, electric and intoxicating.

"Since forever," she admitted, her voice trembling with the weight of her honesty. The admission hung in the air, raw and vulnerable, and she could see the surprise flicker in his eyes. “You were always… well, you were Lawson. I think every girl fantasizes about the hotter, older ‘guy next door’ at least a few times in their life.” She told him sheepishly as a blush crept across her face.

The air crackled with energy, and she could feel the tension building, that fragile line between friendship and something more. Talisa’s heart raced, caught in a whirlwind of emotions—nostalgia, longing, and the thrill of the unknown. This moment felt monumental, a turning point that could redefine everything between them.

With a sudden surge of courage, she leaned in slightly, closing the gap even more, her lips almost brushing against his. “Maybe it’s time to find out what it would really be like… After you buy me a shot of liquid courage,” she whispered, her heart pounding in her chest. The world around them faded completely, leaving just the two of them, suspended in a moment that promised to change everything.

aybe it’s time to discover what this could really be like… after you buy me a shot of liquid courage,"
Tali teased, her voice laced with playful mischief. He chuckled softly, raising an eyebrow as her words sparked a mixture of intrigue and amusement within him. But before he could fully process her challenge, he acted on impulse, sweeping her off her feet with a swift motion and pinning her against the wall. Their eyes locked, hers now level with his, shimmering with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.

"I’m not so sure about that,"
he whispered, leaning in closer to her ear, his breath warm against her skin.
"I don’t think many girls have crushes on their babysitters or reminisce about them years later."
With a gentle touch, he turned her face to meet his gaze, his other hand pressed firmly against the wall beside her. There was an undeniable magnetism between them, something that made it increasingly difficult for him to resist her allure. The air around them felt thick, charged with tension, and his head was beginning to spin in a delightful haze.

"Considering you kissed me all on your own, why do you feel the need for liquid courage? You've already tackled the hard part,"
he said, his tone teasing yet sincere. His hand slid from her chin down to her waist, pulling her closer, their bodies almost melding together as he held her tightly. The warmth of her body against his sent a thrill coursing through him, igniting a fire he hadn't expected.

"Is this everything you imagined?"
he asked, his voice deepening, growing huskier with each word. He watched her intently, searching for the answer in her eyes, curious about the thoughts swirling in her mind at that moment. There was a world of possibilities hanging between them, and he couldn't help but wonder what adventures awaited if they dared to explore this new territory together.

Tali felt the rush of exhilaration as Lawson swept her off her feet, pinning her against the wall. His hands were firm but gentle, and the way his eyes locked onto hers sent a thrill of excitement coursing through her. The world around them faded, leaving just the two of them, enveloped in a bubble of unspoken tension. She could see the amusement dancing in his eyes, but there was also a depth of emotion that made her heart race.

His chuckle sent a shiver down her spine, and she reveled in the way he leaned in, his breath warm against her ear. "I’m not so sure about that. I don’t think many girls have crushes on their babysitters or reminisce about them years later." His words were a gentle reminder of their history, but they only fueled her desire to bridge the gap between their past and present.

Oh, come on. You know I’ve always had a flair for the dramatic,” she quipped, meeting his gaze as he turned her face toward him. The intensity of his stare sent her heart racing, and she felt the pull of attraction as he pulled her closer, their bodies nearly melding together. The warmth radiating from him was intoxicating, igniting a fire deep within her.

Considering you kissed me all on your own, why do you feel the need for liquid courage? You've already tackled the hard part,” he teased, his voice low and inviting. She could feel his heart beating in sync with hers, the chemistry between them undeniable.

Is this everything you imagined?” he asked, his voice deepening, and she could see the curiosity etched across his features. It was a question that sent her mind racing with possibilities, each one more thrilling than the last.

Tali paused for a moment, feeling the weight of the moment pressing in on her. “You have no idea how much I’ve imagined this,” she admitted, a hint of vulnerability slipping through her playful facade. The air around them was thick with tension, and she felt a rush of emotions swirling within her—excitement, fear, and an undeniable longing.

But as much as she craved to dive deeper into this connection, a flutter of caution tugged at her heart. She needed time to think, to process everything that was happening. With a swift motion, she wiggled out of his grip, creating just enough distance to catch her breath. “As much as I’m savoring this moment and would absolutely love to invite you up to my room to explore this… further,” she said, a playful smile lingering on her lips, “I really need to think this over. Plus, I smell like airport and hot chocolate.

With a final, daring impulse, she leaned in and captured his lips with a deep kiss, pouring all her swirling emotions into that single moment. The kiss was electric, a promise of what was to come, and as she pulled away, she couldn’t help but glance back at him, a mischievous sparkle in her eyes. Then, with a giddy rush, she scurried off, muttering, quietly to herself, “god I need a cold shower,” leaving him with a lingering taste of anticipation and the thrill of what might be waiting for them ahead.

Bryson rubbed his hands together, a soft chuckle escaping him as he processed Kennedy's words... He decided to mirror her formal tone, responding with a playful flourish, "I am faring quite well, thank you, dear lady."

Laughter bubbled up as he raked his fingers through his hair, leaning back against the seat to face her fully. Just as he settled in, she took hold of his icy hands, enveloping them in her warm grasp. A spark ignited in his eyes as warmth surged through him, transforming the chill into a delightful sensation that was both surprising and oddly comforting.

"You know, they say that if it's freezing outside, cuddling naked can keep you warm. So, holding hands like this should have the same effect, right?"

Her words hung in the air, leaving him momentarily speechless, his eyes widening in astonishment.
How was he supposed to respond to such a bold statement? But soon, laughter erupted from him, shaking his head in disbelief... "That's... kind of crazy," he managed to say, rubbing his thumbs over her hands thoughtfully.

"But I suppose it makes sense? I mean, bare bodies do radiate heat, and this... well, it traps it."
His gaze met hers, a smirk dancing on his lips, the teasing tone of their exchange igniting a playful spark between them.

"Mm..." he mused, his laughter fading as curiosity took hold... "So, are you going to elaborate on what you were doing earlier... kissing me so suddenly?" he asked, his tone light yet probing.
"I have to say, Kennedy, you caught me completely off guard...no warning at all. Don't leave me hanging here." A flicker of intrigue crossed his features as he studied her, sensing a hint of evasion in her demeanor, yet his genuine curiosity compelled him to seek the truth behind that unexpected kiss.
