Rayne was faster than Steve as she sent a wall of fire between the man and aurora."Dont you know its not appropriate to pick on children."Rayne says as the man canceled his attack glaring at her.

"You are strong."The man says when Rayne smirked."True but honestly who cares im not the one who is going to hurt you."Rayne says as she made a blue fire wall around aurora and Peter to keep them safe.

Peter stood up holding his arm a bit as his shoulder was dislocated.He looked at Aurora making sure she was okay as he tried to look through the wall of fire.

With no success he looked at the dark haired beauty next to him."we are in so much trouble arent we.Im dead and I'm going ti be fried to a crisp because Thats Raynes bike we took."He says as he began to slightly panic.

He hadn’t even brought his shield, having been too hasty in his exit. But Steve didn’t need it. His fierce protective side over Aurora was enough. “She’s right,” he said, circling the man as he approached, “She not the one that’s going to hurt you.”

The man furrowed his eyebrows, clearly trying to assess the situation he’d gotten himself into, but Steve noticed the tinge of fear in his eyes. “That’s my daughter you’re trying to hurt,” Steve said. Even though Aurora was an adult now and didn’t need to be adopted, by all legal accounts, she was now his daughter.

As he rushed the man, he sent a push of energy Steve’s way, but it didn’t knock him back but a few feet. The man’s surprise was enough of a distraction for Steve to gain the upper hand, and he had the guy knocked out within seconds, his nose clearly broken.

The force of their combined energies had sent her hurtling into the metal garbage container, which left a pretty nasty gash in her side. Her shirt became stained with blood and when she brought her hand back to her face, Aurora saw the red tint.

“Rayne will be pissed you took her bike, but Steve might kill us both. He’s about to go into dad mode on both of us when this is all over,” she said. The blue wall of fire kept them from seeing what was happening, but she heard the commotion for a few moments before it stopped completely. Aurora grunted in pain as she tried to sit up more, “I think I’m gonna need a tetanus shot.”

Rayne looked at steve before patting his back,"way to go daddy-o."She joked before the fire vanished.Rayne walked over to Aurora,"okay sweetie im going to need you to not scream."Rayne says as she put her hand on the gash.

Sending a very strong and hot wave of heat into the wound rayne cartarized it so the bleeding stopped.Rayne looked at Aurora and smiled a bit,"the bleeding stopped and you will get better and no you don't need a tetanus shot."Rayne says before looking at steve."Lets get back home before we go all parent and me on them."She says.

Peter watched Rayne with Aurora but he could feel Steve's anger.The boy gulped a bit as he helped Aurora up.He handed Rayne her keys who gave him a death glare."You better hope my bike is in perfect condition and not a single scratch on it or else."Rayne says sternly as Peter gulped again.

He walked towards the unconscious man on the ground."What are we going to do with this guy?"He asks trying to defuse the anger in steve.Peter waited as he stood awkwardly next to the man.

She bit down on her lip hard and whimpered when Rayne cauterized the wound, but Aurora didn’t scream as the woman had requested. She wiped tears from her eyes and took a deep, painful breath as she was helped to her feet. Walking was painful, but at least the bleeding had stopped.

When Peter spoke, Steve didn’t look at him. He was afraid that if he did, the kid would see just how furious he was. The sensible side of him knew that they were just trying to have fun, but what they’d done was extremely reckless.

“SHIELD is already on their way. They’ll take him in and question him. I want to know exactly why he attacked you because a tranquilizer gun suggests that he wasn’t here to kill,” Steve said, turning the man’s weapon over in his hand. There were no marks on it, but SHIELD would figure out who he worked for. He could hazard a guess.

Steve glanced over to see that Rayne had Aurora up and walking before turning back to Peter. He could see that the boy’s shoulder was dislocated, so he reached out and quickly popped it back into the socket. “We need to have a serious conversation about you and my daughter. Either one of you could have been taken or killed,” Steve said, his voice not leaving any room for discussion before he walked off to greet the SHIELD agents that had just arrived.

Rayne walked over to the man before she kneeled down and began to search his body.While steve talked to the shield agents she found the man's wallet.

"His name is David Hurger age 42.He also has another name,Subject 00123-AZYP.He has a list of names of people including children each name has a picture to go with it."Rayne says when she looked through the man's belongings before she stopped.

"Steve."She says with a sound of urgency in her voice as she motioned for him to come over to her.She stared at the list that had a picture of Aurora and her brother when they were younger with the words on her brothers face reading captured.

Peter hissed in pain when his shoulder was put back.He nodded when Steve said they needed to have a talk.He watched Steve walk away and then glanced at Rayne checking the mans belonging.

Going over to Aurora he put an arm around her shoulders to give her support and help her stand up.He made a make shift seat for her,"sorry you got hurt i guess I still have a way to go with my own training."He says.

As Steve explained what had happened in detail to the agents, Rayne read off what information she was able to gather on the man’s identification. Suddenly, though, there was a tone in her voice that had him turning quickly and hurrying over.

“Shit,” he cursed, as he spotted the twins photographs on the list. Steve ran a hand through his hair and sighed, “He’s been sent to collect these kids, which means that we now have a target on our backs. And it seems that Casen is alive, which Aurora cannot know about yet. If we tell her, she’ll want to go looking for him.”

She gave Peter a thankful smile when he helped her to sit down while Steve and Rayne assessed the unconscious man. “Neither of us knew exactly what we were up against,” Aurora replied, “You kept me from slamming into that wall, which was pretty chivalrous of you.”

She shifted and placed a kiss in his cheek. Aurora pulled back to look into his brown eyes and said, “Thank you.”

Rayne looked at steve,"we have to call the others steve these people are targeting children who are barely over the age of 2.We need all the help we can get to find and stop these people."She says.

She walked over to the agents giving them what she found before she looked at them."Keep us informed of you get any information out of that man.And if you need help call for me and I will get it out of him."She says as the agent nods.

Peter looked at the agents who hurriedly took the man away before he looked at steve and rayne.He felt Auroras kiss as his face turned bright red."it was honestly no problem.I don't want you to get hurt."He says smiling.

Peter saw rayne take steve off to the side."Do you think they are going to ground us to our rooms in the base?"He asks jokingly of course.

Rayne looked at steve,"there was a name and location on that list for a teenager around 16 years old.The location I know all too well,it was the orphanage I ran away from which means that there is a possibility of us saving that teen."Rayne says.

"We have to go get him."She says looking at steve.

He knew that Rayne was right. They needed to act quickly. Whatever people were after the kids would be sending out another hunter once they figured out that their current one had been captured.

Steve nodded and began to form a plan in his head, “We’ll go back to headquarters and meet with everyone. Someone will have to stay with Aurora to make sure no one comes for her while we try to get to the kid before they do. You and I will head off this mission, but first we need to assemble the team and see if the agents can get any information out of him tonight. We’ll leave in the morning.”

Peter was so flustered from her simple cheek kiss that it actually made her smile. She wasn’t a social butterfly by any means and he made her nervous, but she had learned to go with her heart and something told her that there was something worth pursuing with Peter.

Aurora glanced over to Steve, briefly wondering what he was talking to Rayne about so intensely. “Probably,” she joked back, “But lucky for us, we live in the same facility

Rayne nodded as she pulled out her phone and send a message to everybody that needed to meet at headquarters.She looked at Steve before she reached up and gently stroked a small scratch on his cheek.

She realized what she was doing and blushed a bright red before pulling her hand away."Sorry i unconsciously did that.So uh lets go I will take peter you take Aurora."Rayne says as she walked over to the kids."Pete your with me Aurora your with steve."She says going to her bike.

Peter stood as he helped aurora to make sure she was able to walk.He got behind rayne as he looked at her,"the bike is in amazing condition right?"He asks when Rayne looked at him.
"Yes it is and good thing this baby was a gift from thor."She says as Leter stared at her putting on the helmet.

He glanced over at Aurora and smiled waving a bit.Rayne took off quickly as she sped towards headquarters.Peter held onto the red head tightly because of her speed.he didn't go that fast when he drove the bike.

Steve was a bit taken back when she touched his face, but it wasn’t a negative reaction per say. He relaxed a split second later, actually enjoying the feeling of her soft skin on his cheek. Of course, he couldn’t really afford to linger on this thought for long. Rayne apologized for the action, but he didn’t say anything on it for now.

He helped Aurora onto the bike and made sure she was comfortable before taking off. He didn’t dare go as fast as Rayne because he didn’t want to jostle Aurora too much, but they arrived back at headquarters soon enough.

“We’ll talk after you get that looked at,” Steve said, gesturing for her to go with the medical personnel that met them outside of the building. She immediately recoiled from the white coats and he remembered her aversion to the sight and needles. Steve was pretty sure that she need stitches, so there was no avoiding it.

“Parker!” he called over to Peter. Steve pulled the boy aside, “I need you to accompany her. She’s terrified of doctors and needles, so good luck.” He patted Peter on the shoulder before going over to Rayne.

“So where did you tell everyone to meet?” he asked, proud to see that she was taking the lead on this mission so well. “We’ll present them with the information we have so far and build a plan from there. You know the orphanage, so we’ll definitely need your help to help formulate the best rescue strategy for what we’re going into.”

"I will do my best sir."Peter says as he goes to aurora and helps her out.He held her hand as the doctors gave her several stitches.Peter smiled and ran his hand through her hair in a way to comfort her.

"Youre doing great."He tells her trying to keep her mind off the needles and doctors.

Rayne looked at steve,"i told them to come here.We can brief them about the situation but we cant take the entire team to the orphanage.That has to be a two person job or else the orphanage would get suspicious."She says.

"Me and Thor can go or Me and You."She says sighing when she looked at Steve."This orphanage is full of mostly boys.Its more strict on its rules.No man and man couples,there has to be a stable job for both adopting parents and women have no say in the matter.If these people tried to get this kid before they must have failed."rayne says

As the doctors escorted her to an examination table, Aurora could feel the panic rising up through her chest and into her throat. The doctor tried to calm her, but it really only increased her anxiety. When Peter appeared next to her, she flashed her gaze over to him. They had to cut away part of her shirt to get to the gash, so she was left in a cropped top.

Peter ran a hand through her hair, and she immediately felt better, though she had to focus on him to keep the panic at bay. They numbed the area, so she didn’t feel much from the stitches. When they were done, Aurora was released, though she was exhausted.

Steve listened to her information on the orphanage, his mind immediately running through options for the best approach. Given that she said it had to be a two person job and that the orphanage was strict, he knew that their best bet for retrieving the boy was to pretend to adopt him.

“I’ll give Fury a call and have him prepare paperwork for us. I’ll go with you and we’ll pretend to be married and adopt the kid. It’s the easiest way,” Steve explained, “We’ll have two others from the team stationed nearby in case trouble shows up.”

peter smiled as he brought aurora to the living room sitting her down so she could relax a bit.He looked at her before he apologized to her."Do you want something to eat or drink?"He asks her as he sat next to her.

Sitting next to Aurora peter felt calm and happy but then his mind wandered to Steve.The teen boy thought about their talk later as he began to get nervous.

Rayne looked at steve before she thought about it.Suddenly her face turned bright red."married me and you do you think people would believe that."She asks stuttering a bit.

"I mean you are so handsome and I'm just me and short and not pretty and what am I saying."Rayne says as she turned and tried to calm her blushing.

Aurora smiled gratefully to him and nodded. “Some water would be great. I’m mainly just thirsty and tired,” she told him. “Then maybe we can watch a movie or something while I fall asleep,” she laughed, knowing it was inevitable.

He raised an eyebrow when she began rambling slightly. Steve, of course, didn’t agree with anything that she was saying, but he knew that he had to be careful about how he communicated that. He didn’t want her to take anything the wrong way.

“What are you talking about? Someone would be lucky to marry you,” Steve said, placing a hand on her shoulder to get her to turn and look at him.

Peter got up and grabbed her a bottle of water from the kitchen before he sat back down nexf to her."You can chose the movie."He says smiling at Aurora.He turned on the TV as bruce walked past heading towards the rooms.

Rayne looked at steve as her face became even redder."Steve thank you so much for the kind words but honestly I'm a freak.I mean what normal person can control one of the most dangerous elements."She says looking at him.

She accepted the bottle of water with a “thank you” and immediately drank about half the bottle. “Wow, blood loss really makes you thirsty,” Aurora joked. She relaxed into the couch cushion and turned on the TV to watch a Disney movie. It probably seemed a little childish, but she needed something lighthearted. A little ways into the movie, she felt herself begin to doze off.

He chuckled and shook his head. “We’re all freaks then, Rayne. I’m impossibly strong and haven’t really aged, Aurora can control matter, and Peter sticks to walls. I’d say none of us are exactly normal,” Steve said. He gave her a sympathetic expression, but it was still a bit serious. “You deserve to be happy just as much as the next person. Don’t sell yourself short.”

Peter let aurora sleep even if she used him as a pillow he sat still for her.He smiled and pat her hair gently."So cute."he mumbled to himself before watching the movie.When the movie had finally ended peter still sat letting the girl sleep next to him.

Rayne looked at steve,"you case is different steve you were trapped in ice for so many years.Aurora was a lab rat for a crazy scientist.Peter is just weird and smart who got bit by a radioactive spider.Bruce is a super genius whose genes are infused with Gamma radiation.And then there is me a girl who got her abilities when she was little because she explored a meteor crash and touched a rock from space.It gave off heat radiation but unlike Bruce this radiation is uncharted and can potentially be just as dangerous as the hulk used to be..Also nobody here besides me has accidentally burned down their first orphanage."She says pouting."we're just lucky that I have great control."She says before looking at Steve.

"And when you find a man who can deal with my crazy side then give me a call."She says

Steve let her vent, though none of what she was saying would convince him to go against what he’d already said. He let her finish before giving her a small smile, “I see you and you’re not crazy. Stubborn and a little hot-headed, but not crazy.” He gave Rayne one last look before going to meet with everything.

He explained the entire situation to the team, not leaving any details out. They still had intel to gain, but they at least had a plan. Wanda would be stationed outside of the orphanage, at a safe distance so she could assist if needed. And Vision would stay and help Peter to guard Aurora should anyone attack the facility while they were gone.

Steve left the meeting to find Aurora, discovering that she was asleep on the couch, her head resting comfortably against Peter. He took a deep breath before approaching quietly. “I’ll carry her to her room, but first...” Steve took a seat on armchair and turned to Peter.

“She’s not really my daughter, but by all legal accounts, she is. And I believe that she deserves a good father. I still don’t know if that’s me or not, but I’m trying.” He was shedding some of himself to Peter, but Steve needed him to understand how much he cared about the sleeping girl. “All I ask is that you don’t hurt her. If you’re going to care or even love her one day, you make sure that you can be there for her. Understand?”

Peter listened to Steve before he smiled."I would never hurt her and she is lucky to have you around sir.Mr.Stark is like a dad to me and im glad he was in my life."Peter says happily as he looked at steve."And I'm sure if i make her feel sad Miss Rayne would probably barbecue me."Peter says.

Rayne looked at wanda as she briefed the powerful woman about the orphanage.Wanda nodded as the two women talked about multiple things that had to do with the mission.

Thor went to find a beer as Bruce had gotten ready to do what he needed."Vision if anything happens here I want you no i will need you to inform us right away."Rayne says to him."Thor you and Bruce will meet with the sheild agents and interogate the man who they captured.Me and Steve have to go change and get into character."Rayne says as she took a breath."Steve."She says using Tony's Nano tech to change their clothes.

They had more of a modern punk couple look now and if Rayne had pushed a certain button the nano tech would change into their hero costumes.

Steve chuckled and shrugged when he mentioned Rayne. “She probably would,” he agreed.

Aurora stirred, now that the background noise of the movie wasn’t there and Steve and Peter we’re talking. She’d caught the tail end of their conversation, but didn’t want to embarrass Peter by letting him know.

“She’s exhausted. I should get her to her room and you should get some rest as well,” Steve told him. He stepped up and gently picked Aurora up, carried her upstairs to bed, and gave her a kiss on the forehead before leaving.

Steve looked down at their appearance, stuck between being impressed and uncomfortable. It definitely wasn’t a look that he felt like he could pull off, but he’d try his best for the mission.

“Everything set with the team?” he asked, “Aurora is asleep in her room and I sent Peter to his to get some rest. Vision will keep an eye on both of them and I’ve enhanced the security measures until we get back.”

Peter went to his room like Steve said.He laid on his bed as he pulled out his phone and called his aunt may.As he talked to May he felt better and told her about meeting Aurora and how he liked her.He asked for some advice.

Rayne looked at steve,"everybody have been briefed and given their assignments.Lets head out but we have to take the normal car."She says as thor tossed her a set of keys.

"Do you want to drive steve?"She asks handing the keys to the Corvette to Steve."Also nick made us papers saying that we were punk millionaires that cannot have their own children.So we have to look the part."Rayne says as she looked at steve before she ruffled his hair a bit.

She was a little bit awake by the time Steve left her room. Aurora had barely realized that he was carrying her, but given that she was in her bedroom, she guessed that she’d fallen asleep on the couch with Peter.

With Peter’s name on her mind, she pulled out her phone and searched for any profile he might have on social media. She wasn’t allowed to have an account herself, but Tony’s internet connection allowed her to uncover his phone number, so she sent him a text.

He gave you the talk, didn’t ?

He took the keys from her and smirked. What guy didn’t enjoy driving fast cars?

Steve nodded when she explained the cover, “Of course he did. That man really has run out of fresh ideas.” He shook his head, slightly amused, before leading them to the garage, there the car awaited.

Peter hung up with may before he saw the text from an unknown number.He thought for a second before he assumed it was Aurora.

hey im guessing this is aurora and yes I was given the talk.

peter sent back as be smiled.

rayne followed Steve before she looked at wanda."keep a low profile and if you see the signal come in for the fight okay."Rayne says as Wanda nodded and set off to the location of the orphanage.

"When we get there you have to ask for a young man named Jace Jones."Rayne says to Steve.

She realized that she probably should have told him that it was her, but Aurora thought it was kind of funny to have him guess from the content of the message.

Wanda would be traveling in a different car. If they rode in the same one, it would prove suspicious.

Steve cranked the Corvette and navigated out of the garage before speeding down the long driveway leading to the Avengers headquarters facility. He nodded when Rayne gave him the kid’s name. “Wouldn’t it be a little suspicious if we asked for him by name?” he wondered.

peter smiled sending her the text before he thought about something.He sits up before going to his desk and begining to create something to give to Aurora.

rayne looked at him,"not really if we are millionaires we could have had a private investigator look into things for us to find a child that is compatible with us."She says as she looked at him.
