Video Games What is some very popular game out there that lots of people love but you personally dislike?

I love the Mass Effect franchise, but so do millions of people all over the world. It's as Triple A as Skyrim, Elden Ring, and Final Fantasy 16 can be. No surprise. I love it and so do many others.

You wanna know what game is great and well-loved by millions, but not me?

*The Witcher 3.*

I tried liking it the same way that I tried liking The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Except I succeeded at liking Oblivion after tens of hours of gameplay. I couldn't make myself like The Witcher 3.

I don't care how greatly designed creepy monsters in a game are. Greatly designed or poorly designed, I don't like creepiness. And if 90% of the setting is disturbing themes and muscular zombies on meth trying to eat you, then I'll get sick of it. I only enjoy roleplaying video games where I can feel good getting Isekai-ed into them.

It's the same thing with Dragon Age Origins. That game doesn't give you a break. It moves you from one part of the story to the next at breakneck speed, and every part of the story has an abomination who's trying to pluck out your eyeballs and looks uglier than Grynch's grandmother.

What about you?

The Grand Theft Auto games. The games are undoubtedly well designed and a lot of love is put into their creation, but I have just never really been able to get into them.

Do love-hate relationships count?

Helldivers 2. So many things to hate.... and yet I still love playing it with friends. HELP! I'm dealing with a paradox here!

Call of Duty, all the games, just a hard pass. Genshin Impact is another one. Not too fond of Baldur's Gate 3 after playing it. The sports games too.

Rimworld, used to love it but I hate Ludeon

They don't update the game for shit and just pump out shitty DLCs

FF 14 (and every FF people love after 10)
The popular gacha open world craze (Genshin and the like)
MOBAs

Yeah, the question was which one, but I like to go above and beyond with being a contrarian!

Brawl Stars. Its a fine game by itself, but it feels so... brain rotted. the fast-paced gameplay, less than 3-minute matches, bright colors and flashing lights.
Then again, I play block blast with the same concentration as a middle aged mom plays candy crush, so who am I to judge?

Not a fan of Halo. Or Gears of War. I wasn’t a big fan of Xbox games in general growing up.

I also happen to think that Skyrim is a bit overrated after having beaten it.

Genshin Impact, for me. I played it a lot, but never really enjoyed it, and the fandom only turns me off more.

Genshin Impact, ZZZ, Wuthering Waves. Gacha games in general.

last of us and legend of zelda. don't dislike either of them, they just never got on my radar and still aren't. i did play a legend of zelda game as a kid, but i was massively bad at it & i wonder if that's why it's stayed off my radar.

also up there because i played them & could not get into them: genshin impact, sims 4, sonic, crash bandicoot. fallout 3 too. very lackluster to me, lol.

Call of Duty, I don't like the newer one... but i do love the old one... same goes with Monster Hunter, the newest one turn into a monster slaying game instead of monster hunting game... At that point just makes every monster stuck in an arena can call it God Eater.

The Metal Gear games. I like the idea and hate the gameplay. It's such a weird perspective.

Also, I just realized how to locate the guys on this site!
