I love the Mass Effect franchise, but so do millions of people all over the world. It's as Triple A as Skyrim, Elden Ring, and Final Fantasy 16 can be. No surprise. I love it and so do many others.
You wanna know what game is great and well-loved by millions, but not me?
*The Witcher 3.*
I tried liking it the same way that I tried liking The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Except I succeeded at liking Oblivion after tens of hours of gameplay. I couldn't make myself like The Witcher 3.
I don't care how greatly designed creepy monsters in a game are. Greatly designed or poorly designed, I don't like creepiness. And if 90% of the setting is disturbing themes and muscular zombies on meth trying to eat you, then I'll get sick of it. I only enjoy roleplaying video games where I can feel good getting Isekai-ed into them.
It's the same thing with Dragon Age Origins. That game doesn't give you a break. It moves you from one part of the story to the next at breakneck speed, and every part of the story has an abomination who's trying to pluck out your eyeballs and looks uglier than Grynch's grandmother.
What about you?
