Kanen
Kanen let the girl's lead the way down the hallway, eventually coming to the Home Ec room. Letting them go in first, Kanen took another swig from the flask before walking in after them. His eyes swept across the room quickly, two boys, and Ash. Really, honestly, Kanen wasn't upset to see Ash here. He was glad to see her doing alright. However, his face wouldn't betray him. The moment Kanen eyes fell on the blonde, his face got hard. Dark eyes stared at her for a few moments, but a practiced gaze hid any emotion. After a moment, Kanen walked forward and spat at her feet. A few inches closer and he would've spat right on her shoe.

"School whore giving two for one specials now?" He spoke. His voice was low, but more than loud enough for anyone in the class to hear. Truthfully, it kind of hurt Kanen to say it. Sure, he was pissed now, but Ash had only ever tried to help him. Yet, here he was, attacking her over a damn Twitter argument. Fuck his pride and ego. "I'm sure this is going to be a busy night for you, won't it?" Even as he said the words through snarled lips, Kanen kept a level tone. He backed away a little bit, taking another drink from the flask. The liquor burning down his throat quickly washed away any guilt he had.

Kanen's eyes flicked to the two boys that had been here with Ash. Slowly, he raised his hands out to his sides. "Tell me, she any good or is she just cheap? Scoot a bottle her way and she opens right up, doesn't she?" As he talked, Kanen stared at each of the guys as if he were challenging them. Fuckin' put 'em boys. Give me a damn excuse. Not that Kanen really needed much of an excuse. He was liable to start a fight over nothing.

Juliette
original.gif

Juliette had tried to get Sawyer to stay, 'I'll come with you's' and more than a few 'are you okays' and a ton of muttered curses towards the blonde cheerleader she decided to despise so quickly. So, yeah they were broken up or whatever. But Sawyer's technically, like kind of her friend. And when your friend hates someone you're supposed to hate them back, that's just how it goes for JJ. But she wasn't quite sure if Sawyer had hated Grace. And then it started to make her think about Ava.

Maybe she didn't really hate her either.

Who knows, maybe it was mood swings. Can you get mood swings so quick into pregnancy? Juliette had no idea, but she felt bad for some reason. She was the one who lashed out on Ava, and after all she was only trying to help her. Instead of waiting for Sawyer, she decided to let her have her own spaces and JJ set off on her own mission to find Ava, it proved to be very difficult; and when she says that she means she couldn't find her.

Maybe she should just leave a note in her locker? Yeah... Yeah, that might work. At least just to settle this weird feeling in her chest. Writing out the words on a sharpie, she went to slide the note into the locker when it wouldn't fit. She tried again, and again, and it just started to make Jules more antsy and had a try at her combination. What would Ava make her combination? Something nerdy? Dumb? Juliette didn't have the first clue what it'd be, so she used the first thing that popped into her head.

And it opened. Ha, take that dumb lock.

Carefully placing the note inside, Juliette tried to ignore all the small things that made the feisty redhead her. A rose had caught her eye from none other than Ash's locker. Who cared, she probably didn't even give two shits about whoever left it in the first place. A quick look around the hallway, Juliette carefully took it and placed it into Ava's. There.

That should make that icky feeling go away.

They had a great time together, overall a great Valentine's day. Really, it was, if only her heart didn't keep tugging at her to look for a certain blonde for some odd reason. Later, once the blizzard died down, a lot of the people had went home, some were still hanging around. And here she was looking for her ex-girlfriend to try and settle her guilt in one way or another. It's not like they were together anyway! Why should she feel bad?

Keisha was funny, sweet, gorgeous. Grace was almost positive that she liked her especially after the kiss they shared, but her mind just couldn't stay off Sawyer. And it's not like it suddenly came out of nowhere. It's been months and no matter how many dumb school sanctioned things she planned, how many practices, any amount of homework, there was nothing that could distract her long enough to not think of the emotional hurricane it was when it came to Sawyer Andrews. And as soon as it started to ease off and hurt less, something would always remind her of it. It could from passing her in the hallway, to seeing a stupid candy bar, that's the thing. It just doesn't matter. It's not like she'd fall into a depression and tears crying over old photos, the only thing it managed to do is piss Grace off more than anything else in her life.

Grace was never a person to get angry over something, she didn't understand it... she just wanted it to be over with. After a long search, Grace had given up. She wasn't even sure why she was looking for her in the first place. Instead, maybe it was for a sense of familiarity, or because it might've been the last place she didn't look, but entering the infamous science class that they snuck off to in a number of occasions.

And there she was.

She was upset, great.

"What's wrong?"

Ash
Ash.gif

The moment that Tatum stepped through that door with Kanen trailing after her, Ash's smile dropped. Maybe it was stupid of her to hold onto these feelings, but seriously. What the fuck was wrong with Kanen? All Ash had ever wanted to do was help him. Fuck, the last time he showed up she remembered him breaking down on the pier. And now it was like none of that had ever happened. Why was she holding onto this hope that Kanen could stop being a pompous, selfish asshole?

He spit in front of her, and her nose wrinkled up in disgust. What the hell was his deal?

And right then, with barely any warning, Kanen started going off in normal Kanen fashion. The town whore stuff may have gotten under her skin a bit, but it wasn't the first time she'd heard it. Fuck, she'd been hearing that stuff since Ryder. It was an overused insult, and go ahead. Drag Sean into it, but how dare he think that he could drag Sebastian through the mud, too.

"Oh screw you, Kanen." She snapped, letting go of Sean's hand so that she could move away from where they'd been standing to walk up to him. "You're just jealous because I wouldn't fuck you even if I was drunk." How the hell had Kanen gone from punching Ryder for Ash, to now calling her a whore? What the hell had she done?

She did manage to keep the hurt down, because it was obvious that Kanen didn't care at all. And Ash would be damned if she'd show that she still cared about this jackass in front of her.

"I fucking wish you had just overdosed or some shit. Why the fuck do you keep coming back here?" Ash grabbed his arm, turning him to face her. "Just get the hell out of the school. No one even wants you here and maybe if we're lucky, the fucking blizzard will kill you."

Jace

Even though he'd been the one to initiate the call, Jace was already glancing away to his phone again mere moments after clicking the call button. After what he figured Happy Meal might just ignore him, so he needed a lead on what to do next if that happened. Monitoring Twitter was always fun. Even when it was just Ash getting into yet another round of drinking or that supposed mafia guy trying to measure his dick against everyone else. So his eyes weren't on the right screen when the British kid answered, the sounds of a little girl asking about her daddy suddenly filling his ears. Followed shortly by a more familiar British voice.

Jace was silent for a few seconds, his icy blue eyes darting back up to his computer, as he listened to the exchange. Did Happy Meal not realize he'd answered the call?
"Yo buddy, still alive?" He eventually said, his voice a little quiet as he repeated his catchphrase from earlier. It was a favorite quote of his from one of the game series he liked, and he'd recently taken to using it fairly often as an innocuous little reference.

This time it was just a way to get the other boy's attention. As funny as the thought of Happy Meal accidentally answering the call was, he didn't really want to sit there and listen to a British guy babysit some little girl. He wasn't that desperate for entertainment. However he also didn't have anything else to say, so he just waited for his teammate to respond, looking back down at his phone with a small smirk on his face. There was a pretty good chance Happy Meal had answered on accident and would just hang up, but he might as well try to initiate conversation anyways.

Besides, it looked like the brewing storm of girls at the nearby table had migrated somewhere else. So it wasn't like there was anyone else in his immediate vicinity to chat with.

Sawyer

Sawyer had no clue how long she'd been sulking in the classroom. It'd been sucky to just up ditch JJ, but Sawyer didn't feel like being all mopey in front of her. This was probably pretty stupid anyway. They'd been broken up for months so why was Sawyer so just...sad all the time? She had a hard time understanding why she couldn't just get over it like it seemed Grace had. Like everyone kept telling her too. Sawyer's teammates had been relentless on the, 'you need to let go, Sawyer. You're just hurting yourself' and 'she's not worth all this', except she was. Grace was worth more than Sawyer could ever give her. Sawyer knew she wasn't perfect, far from it, but she'd never meant to hurt Grace. Ever. But she had and she'd paid for it. Sawyer knew her teammates were only trying to help her but she just couldn't do what they wanted. It didn't seem she could be anything that the people close to her wanted. She couldn't be the well behaved and put together kid her father wanted. She couldn't be the backbone her team wanted. She couldn't be what Grace wanted. She was just Sawyer, the monumental fuck up.

"Fucking Grace." Sawyer kicked a chair as she placed about the room, "Get out of my head." She lifted herself up onto a desk and sat there, legs dangling, and let out a sigh. "Don't get out of my head. Come back to me." Sawyer ran her hands down her face, "This blows." Another sigh escaped her and she just kind of slumped over and sat there in the quiet. Her mind was running a mile a minute, too fast for her to even process her own thoughts, but a lot of them involved breaking people or things. Sawyer didn't have the energy to go cause hell right now though. No matter how much she might want too.

The door opened.

Sawyer's head shot up and she was met with Grace staring back at her. What the hell? Was she looking for her? Didn't Grace have something better to do sucking face with...whatever the fuck her name was? Sawyer didn't know why she was suddenly so mad, but what came out of Grace's mouth made it even worse. 'What's wrong?' She could've laughed. What's wrong? Oh absolutely nothing everything's just dandy, Grace.

"What do you thinks wrong? Why do you care anyway? Don't you have someone to be making out with?" Sawyer knew that was uncalled for, but it was too late to take back and she was pissed off and emotional as hell.

Of course, Sebastian followed Ash, with her new boyfriend Sean being pulled along. Once the room was filled with light, he placed his backpack on a chair, tossed a few chocolate bars on the nearest counter beside the stove, and searching through the cabinets. He didn’t have a Home Ec class, but he’d heard one classmate saying that they made hot cocoa today, which was oddly convenient. He found clean some mugs, leftover marshmallows and other toppings, and enough milk that wasn’t expired in the refrigerator. He was sure the cafeteria had more food variety than here.

Right after picking up a clean saucepan, Sebastian heard the door open. He knew another friend of Ash would meet up with them, but he didn’t expect two more to join. Sebastian nodded at the girl who introduced herself as Tatum and told her his name. But then the heavily tattooed guy started opening his mouth, and nothing good came out.

Whatever Ash had done in the past, it didn’t matter to Sebastian. She hadn’t done anything bad to him so far. Although he didn’t believe what Ash said to Kanen was any better – and he thought her response was pretty harsh – Sebastian still had some sense of loyalty.

“Hey, man, just walk out of here if you’re gonna keep acting petty like that. No one wants any trouble right now.” Sebastian stayed where he was, standing 10 feet away from Ash and Kanen, hardly noticing his own hand tightly clenching around the saucepan handle that he held next to his thigh. Sebastian didn’t want to fight. He didn’t want to break his promise to his aunt and disappoint her. But he would if the situation becomes drastic enough for him to step in.

She wasn't know what she expected Sawyer to say, but the fact that she mentioned Keisha was out of hand, did she see them? That's the only way she would've known otherwise, but the fact that Sawyer had the audacity to even bring it up, completely worsened Grace's mood, she just asked if she was okay, she didn't want a play by play of what she'd done today with Keisha-- well that part didn't happen but it didn't matter. Sawyer didn't get to be mad, especially about Keisha. "Oh, okay. So I can't kiss someone but you can just sleep with the first girl you lay your eyes on? That's okay?" She nodded as if she understood her reasoning in the first place. It's not like Grace to argue back. Definitely not. But she's usually not this upset in certain situations.

It was clear Sawyer was upset about this thing in general, but she didn't expect her to be angry about it; she had Jess. "Why aren't you with Jess then, huh? Shouldn't you be with her?" It wasn't fair and Grace was perfectly fine with making her point. Sawyer was just being difficult and hypocritical. Nothing made sense of their relationship now, they weren't friends, they were just exes who couldn't stand to see the other with someone else.

But that's the thing, Grace made a choice; her plan was to stick to it. "Did you follow us? Was that how you found out? Because we weren't making out, okay? It wasn't a big thing." At this point, she wasn't sure if she was sugar-coating it for her or for Sawyer, but either way it probably wasn't going to help this conversation argument. They were both upset and Grace wasn't sure how they were going to solve this in the first place, but she was convinced that Sawyer didn't have a real reason to be upset; even if Grace was wrong.

Kanen
Another drink from the flask before Ash grabbed his arm and whirled him back around to face her. She spit venom, rightfully so, but at this point the words pretty much fell on deaf ears. Besides, it was nothing Kanen hadn't told himself thousand times before. Every man is his own worst critic. When she shut her mouth, Kanen stepped forward, standing over the small blonde. He head dropped to the side of hers, his lips close enough to her ear that she'd be able to feel the hot breath. "Every time anyone ever said you weren't good enough..." Kanen paused. "...they were fucking right. Don't you fucking forget that." Kanen's tone broke now, the last words coming out in a low growl. Once he'd said it, Kanen stepped back and took another drink from the flask in his hand.

Though he wasn't standing over her anymore, Kanen kept talking. "You had life handed to you on a fucking silver, and now look at you." Kanen shook his hand in her direction and smiled with amusement. "I mean really. While I was picking up after an alcoholic father and a crack-whore of a step mother, you were in that big pretty house of yours. For every night I went hungry, you were at some five-fucking-star restaurant, weren't you!?" Kanen took another drink from the flask before setting it down on the table beside him. It was like gas in an engine, and Kanen was going full throttle. "When my dad beat me with a fucking belt, yours was out filling your fucking wardrobe!" Finally, Kanen's voice rose to a yell. Just like that, Kanen was talking in a regular tone though. "And yet fucking look at us."

"You had everything, and you still ended up crawling into a fucking bottle. Just. Like. Me." Kanen's eyes glared down at the blonde now. "Don't you try and deny it either, I may not be around much anymore but I know a fucking drunk when I see one." He stared at her for a moment, looking like he was just taking her in. "So what put you over the edge, huh? Daddy cut your allowance, boy break your heart?" Kanen scoffed. "Something tells me, if you'd had my life they would've found your body in a fucking ditch."

Kanen's rant was cut off as one of the boy's intervened. Honestly, Kanen was glad for it. He was in the mood to hit someone.

"No one wants any trouble right now."

Kanen's eyebrows went up. New kid didn't know who he was. Alright. Fair enough.

"Actually, I do want trouble." Kanen muttered as he took off his jacket and unbuttoned his shirt. He made sure to fold both the jacket and the shirt neatly before facing the by in his undershirt. Only now that he was looking at him did Kanen see the cookware held at his thigh. Kanen crossed his arms over his chest. Kanen wasn't amused anymore. Frankly, it was time to beat some ass.

"I swear to god, you hit me with a fuckin' frying pan; I'm going to break every bone below the pelvis and watch you crawl to the fucking hospital. Capiche?" Kanen took a few steps towards the boy now, rolling his shoulders back and swinging his arms across his chest. Stretching was important, OK?

Anabelle Price

Ana waved again when Tatum introduced her, but mostly kept to herself after that. Even with Tatum’s offer of helping, she shook her head and waved a hand in a similar fashion to when she had been offered the alcohol. While she was hungry and was actively looking for food, doing it alone was an easy way to stay on the outskirts of the group. While she didn’t mind if they drank, she knew all too well that alcohol didn’t have the best effect on everyone. It wasn’t long until that was confirmed. Whatever had happened online earlier seemed to spill into the room, but Ana did her best to tune it out. She didn’t like confrontation or violence and wanted no part in what was happening on the other side of the room.

So, she lazily opened the cabinets, taking extra special care to look in each and every one of them to make sure there were no hidden food items. It didn’t take her nearly as long as she thought to find something. This was a cooking class after all. She might have found gourmet food, but something was better than nothing and she wasn’t going to pass up an opportunity to eat. The only problem was, it was on a shelf she could just barely not reach. A few random items were scattered on one of the shelves at a cooking station and she frowned up at it. She took a quick peak behind her at the group, but from what she could see, all the attention was on the trouble bubbling up. With a small sigh, she turned back to the shelf and stared at it for a moment before reaching up. Even on her tip toes, her fingers barely made it over the edge. That might be just enough to get one of the closer items or so she thought. One hand gripped the edge while the other reached for a box that was just an inch or two pushed back. She wobbled on her feet, precariously perched on the edges of her shoes as she reached.

She was so intently focused on the box in front of her, that she didn’t notice the wobbliness of the shelf until it was too late. Things seemed to move both in slow motion and still too fast for her to react. She stood there frozen as the items slid off the shelf and crashed to the floor. At least one glass something broke, spilling its contents all around her feet. With each new sound she flinched, although she still didn’t dare move because maybe if she stayed completely still, there wouldn’t be several pairs of eyes looking in her direction, right? She could already feel her face burning up with embarrassment. Without turning to look at anyone else in the room, she immediately dropped to the floor and tried to start cleaning up. Spilled food, broken glass, really anything within reach she tried to pile up so she could scoop it into the trash.

Serena

There was a little bit of awkwardness following Caleb's reaction to her. Yeah, the whole passive aggressive thing usually didn't flow very well with guys. Great. Just what she needed, an uncomfortable moment of veiled tension with her ex. It just made her feel even worse about what they used to have. Before he decided other girls were more interesting. He used to be so much easier to talk to, but now she dreaded having to deal with him. She couldn't go back on her decision though. Serena dumped him for a reason, right?

It was actually a little surprising when the boy spoke up next. He broke the silence in a way only someone like him could, offering to do one of her favorite things. Playing basketball. Serena's jaw tensed, her emerald eyes staring back at him while she thought about it. God, why couldn't they be like other exes? Weren't they supposed to fight and scream at each other or something? Why did he have to make it so hard to justify being mad? Whatever, not like she was going to fall for it and get her to make up with him. Principle demanded as much.

Still it wasn't a terrible idea. Like, she wanted to shoot hoops anyways, and there was no way she was leaving the gym until all of the balls were back where they belonged. So why not? She might as well have a little fun while she was at it, and she could kick Caleb's ass at basketball while she was at it.

With that disturbingly Jace style logic on her mind, Serena looked down at the ball at her hands, averting her eyes while she made extra sure she actually wanted to accept. She really didn't want to open herself back up to someone who cheated on her. It couldn't hurt to just play for a bit though, right?
"Sure!" Pursing her lips, the girl suddenly bounced the ball over to Caleb, looking back up to him again. The pass was perfect, of course. "Why not? Not like there's anything else to do..." She replied, taking the extra step forward so that she was standing on the three point line.

Neck Tie

jZBRq9T.gif

AceOfRoses repeated his question, and Neck Tie found himself tearing up again. He didn’t respond for a while. When he finally did, it sounded like he was trying to eat the microphone.

‘No. . . I keep getting bullied,’ he said. ‘All the time I get bullied. By everyone.’

‘My first day at school, I got beat up. Then everyone was making fun of how I dressed. They called me all sorts of names. This kid, he humiliated me in front of the whole school.’

‘The other day. . . I got my head slammed in, and my best friend. . . he just stood there and watched. He didn’t even care. I got twelve stitches--’

‘Everyday it’s the same. I don’t tell anybody. Everyone thinks I’m a joke. They think I’m always happy, but I’m not.’

He sniffled.

‘I hate them. I hate everyone. I’ve got no friends left. . . Now I’m playing a game, I just wanna have fun,’ he whimpered. ‘Not get bullied again. I just wanna have fun. . .’

His voice trailed off as he sobbed into his shirt. That moment, Neck Tie realised he wanted to die.

Sawyer
WideeyedHeartyBabirusa-small.gif
Sawyer had overstepped and she knew that, but that didn’t mean that Grace could just assume things. Even if she had planned on it, Sawyer had never actually slept with Jess. There had been a plan, of course. Jess had invited her over and it was essentially an unspoken invitation and...Sawyer had accepted. The point was that she never actually went to Jess’s house. That night, Sawyer had just kind of stood outside the house, staring blankly up at the lit window that she assumed was Jess’s room. She’d stood there for at least twenty minutes before walking slowly up to the door, leaving a bottle of some alcohol or another, knocking and walking away. She watched from across the street as Jess opened the door and picked up the bottle her face screwing up like she was annoyed. Sawyer was glad she hadn’t gone in. Sawyer drove home and busted the shit out of the aluminum trashcan in the backyard with a bat until her dad came out and yelled at her for being so loud at 8:00 at night.

Sawyer took a step closer to her, rolling her eyes, “I didn’t sleep with Jess. I couldn’t.” She crossed her arms over her chest, “I didn’t even kiss her or anything. She came to me.” Grace said something about her following them and Sawyer let out a coarse laugh. Had she followed them? Yeah right, she wasn’t that desperate.

“Oh, fuck off, Grace.” Sawyer chuckled, “I didn’t follow you. I was helping JJ hang flyers, you should really find a better place to suck face if you didn’t want anyone to see you.” Her arms dropped to her sides and her hands shoved themselves into her pockets, “Is she a good kisser, huh? Better than me? Did she sweep you off your feet, Grace?” Sawyer was being mocking and it was mean. It would’ve been better to just leave but she didn’t want to. This was the longest conversation she’d with Grace in a while and even if it was an argument she didn’t want to end it.

Lulu couldn't help but blush when Jackson called her a professional and complimented her skills. "I don't know about that but thank you. You just need more practice. You've got the eye for what will look good, you're just new to it that's all. You could be just as good too." she said smiling shyly up at him. He wasn't technically skilled yet but being a fellow artist Jackson really did have the potential to take good photos.

At the mention of plans the Woods girl tilted her head slightly, confused by his sudden change of expression. She was about to ask what was wrong when he pulled a rose from behind his back. She stared at it for a few moments unsure of what was happening until he held it out for her. She gingerly took the flower, face bright red. "F-for me?" she asked quietly, disbelief evident in her tone. People never gave her things on Valentines Day, it just didn't happen. What exactly did this mean? Her mind raced as she slowly looked back up to Jackson. "...Thank you. This is very kind." her voice was soft and almost choked. Tallulah found that her words weren't coming to her as she looked at the guy in front of her. Without warning she reached up and wrapped her arms around his neck in a tight hug. Sean grinned as Ash said yes, truthfully he had almost expected her to have moved on by now. The kiss that the new couple shared felt like coming home to Sean. Familiar, warm, where everything was meant to be. When the blonde took his hand in her own he couldn't but notice how well they fit together. She brought him over to the guy who she introduced as Sebastian. His expression seemed neutral and level headed. "Sort of new." Sean explained. "Name's Sean." from the introduction Sebastian seemed like a good guy. He didn't seem like one to gossip, or other petty things that most other teenagers seemed to do. If he truly was like this Sean could picture being friends with him.

A hot chocolate celebration was suggested and Sean was pulled along for the ride. It wasn't like he didn't think it was a good idea, in fact he was just excited to spend time with Ash. But he was being quite literally dragged. The trio made their way to the home ec room, presumably where they would be making hot chocolate. The Woods brother couldn't help but grin with how happy and excited his girlfriend was. It made his own mood lighter.

Once in the room Sebastian went about working on making hot chocolate and before long the door opened and an additional trio came in. A dark haired girl who seemed extremely shy, a blonde girl who seemed to take charge of the other trio and a large male figure that could only be one person. Kanen. Kanen and Sean were practically opposites. Kanen was aggressive and violent, Sean was calm and a peacemaker. The second Kanen walked in he started throwing insults and trying to pick fights. While what he said about Ash absolutely infuriated Sean, he knew Kanen's play. He was looking for a fight, of course when wasn't he? Sean wasn't going to take the bait, as much as Kanen deserved to get punched in the throat.

Ash however, wouldn't let the insults slide. Sean's eyes moved between the blonde and Kanen. One things was for sure; Ash could handle herself. What she said was harsh sure, but it wasn't uncalled for. Kanen started this after all. Sean was about to speak up to try and defuse things when Sebastian did for him. This guy definitely had Sean's respect now. He did not have Kanen's however. While he didn't think Sebastian would make the first move with that saucepan, Sean knew that it would definitely be used in self defense.

Sean moved quickly to step between Sebastian and Kanen. "Stand down Kanen. I know you want to fight to make yourself feel better, but it's not going to work, and you know it." He didn't fear Kanen, sure he probably should, but guys like that love it when you fear them. Sean refused to give him the satisfaction of fear. He wouldn't be bullied into backing down, nor would he allow this thug treat people however he wanted. He stared him down unwavering. He wasn't too much bigger than Sean. "You're smarter than this. Walk away." he added as his last attempt to deescalate. No one seemed to be on Kanen's side in this one, meaning he was outnumbered. There was a loud crash behind the Woods boy, but you never look away from a predator. His gaze remained on Kanen, unflinching, ready for him to make the first swing. Jackson

Jackson was rather surprised as he felt Lulahs body against his in a tight hug. Still though he smiled and wrapped his arms around her body to return the hug with a little chuckle as he held onto her. He knew she clearly didn’t understand what him giving her the rose meant but he was fine with it. Finding her choked up expression and tone rather cute as he held onto her. “I’m guessing you weren’t expecting a rose then?” He asked teasingly to her as he continued to hug her.

His smile stayed on his lips as he continued to hold Lulah in his arms. Hugging her as long as she wanted to. He was perfectly content with holding her right there and it showed if he was being honest. His grip tight but not uncomfortable for her as he blushed just a little.

It had been a couple hours since Mason had managed to work things out with Sam, and the overnight ban on leaving had been lifted. The blizzard had cleared just enough for the students to make it to their homes, although Mason was fully expecting there to be a snow day the following morning -- which he would love.

Mason's old, beatup car still ran, and after saying his farewells to Sam, Mason and Raven drove home together. He didn't mention Sam to her because, well, it just felt awkward.

After struggling through the snow-filled streets, Mason was finally able to pull into Raven's driveway. He hopped out of the car, the cold air instantly biting into his skin, and started making his way up to the front door. Adriane had said that Ari was here with Stu, and for once he was actually thankful for the little runt. At least Ari hadn't had to struggle her way through the snow.

Mason opened the door and stepped inside, expecting to find a nice clean house... a happy child... and a probably chocolate-covered Stu. But instead, the easy-going smile on his face immediately fell.

"Raven!" He yelled over his shoulder for her to hurry up before he turned back around. Ari had crawled off of Stu's lap with a yell of "Daddy!" and come running to him, throwing her arms around him. Mason couldn't react as he took in the mess of a kitchen, the toilet paper everywhere, Raven's laptop completely smashed, and... fucking Stu crying.

"What the fuck?!"

Grace

Was it wrong because Grace didn't believe her? Sawyer was known to keep secrets until the truth was shoved in her face, so maybe she actually did sleep with Jess and said otherwise, who really knows? Of course Jess came to her. Sawyer could've had any girl she wanted and instead for some reason she chose Grace all those months ago and ruined things completely. -- Maybe not ruined, and maybe she's overreacting. It didn't matter if Grace doesn't regret what they had, it mattered because Sawyer wouldn't let her... well, let go. "Right and you expect me to just believe that." She gestured to nothing else in particular but Sawyer.

Of course she was helping JJ, when did they even become friends anyway? Oh. Right after the whole makeout session that she found out about from Ash instead of her own girlfriend at the time. "No, I didn't care if anyone else saw us, I just cared if you did. I knew you'd be like this." Jealous, angry, sad? Grace wasn't even sure what she meant by it, but having Sawyer remind her that she hadn't really moved on the first place wasn't helping matters. She needed to believe that her and Jess slept together, that Sawyer had moved on because that'd make everything else easier.

"Shut up Sawyer, she kissed me." Did Grace kiss back? Yeah, but it's not like she initiated it in the first place, they were broken up, she didn't have a right to be upset. "Y'know, now that I really think about it? Keisha's a great kisser, she's just amazing. Is that what you want to hear? Why don't you tell me what a great kisser JJ is? I mean, since you wanna go by that, you're taking her to prom too aren't you?" The dumb Instagram post had proved to bother Grace, none of her arguments were making sense, they were hypocritical and stupid but she continued because arguing was better than not seeing her at all.

Raven

Thankfully, the weather had gotten a little better and they were allowed to go home. Raven wondered why Mason was so quiet in the car but she didn't think too much on it, that was the least of her problems and the last thing Raven needed was another problem or another person to console. Stu and Raven hardly knew each other, but she figured he was a good enough babysitter and full offense to Adriane, but she'd rather have the stench of McDonalds in her home instead of Mason's psycho baby mama.

Once they'd gotten home, a sense of relief filled Raven, it's funny how the house she used to hate ended up being her safe place. Y'know, it just felt like home. Among other things... or people. Taking her time out of her car, she pushed some of the snow aside from the sidewalk when Mason started calling her name. "Relax, I told you we'll figure out what's for dinner when--" Raven climbed up the steps and halted in the front door.

She didn't say anything at first, her gaze fell onto the state of the kitchen, the spilled juice, the toilet paper, and finally, her laptop.

"What the fuck happened?" Raven walked over to her computer, tapping a few buttons which just resulted in the screen showing a bunch of lines in it and then turning off. "No, no, no. I literally have everything on here, what the hell did you do?" A death glare was sent towards Stu and hoped he had a damn good explanation because Raven didn't need any of this shit happening to her right now. There was no way she'd be able to afford another one at this point.

The only calming thoughts running through her head was how exactly she was going to murder Adriane. Who the fuck would trust an obvious child with another? It was like throwing two crying toddlers into an arena expecting them to fight each other, but instead they were just both crying messes.

"Why are you the one who's crying?"

Tatum had been excited to drink that was until Kanen decided he was going to insult Ash. Ash had been handling herself and Tatum was proud of her for not backing down and taking anything from anyone but she had never heard anyone speak so foul of another and she couldn't stand it. When Sebastian spoke that's when she took her moment to take her flask back from him. He had set it down and she was no longer going to share with him. When she heard Ash's boy talk she knew she should probably step in too. She madder way over towards the others, "You can't just be a jerk. You have anyone you're going to fight come at me." Tay knew the liquor had kicked in because otherwise she would have shied away from the confrontation but she was feeling loose and good. She was feeling more like how she enjoyed feeling. That was when Tay had heard a crash.

Unlike some of the others her head had snapped over to the direction of Ana who had be quietly trying to leave. Tay of course wasn't going to stop her, the girl was a silent one and didn't like attention. She would flinch whenever Tay had tried to tough her so she had stopped attempting that. She had kept her distance from Ana in order to make her more comfortable. It did always strike her has odd because she had never met someone as jumpy as her. Tay then turned her attention back to Kanen and the others once she saw Ana successfully escape the room. She'd see the girl around she always did. That's how their friendship worked. It wasn't forced it just kind of existed. Her buzzed eyes had a hard time focusing but she kept her flask and bottle in hand, "You don't get to enjoy this, when you're being so agressive. This was supposed to be a good time and you decide to ruin it. Maybe you have the problem." Tatum knew her problems and if he had figured them out and threw them back at her well she would survive. She knew her faults and had accepted them. All she could do was work on her problems but today she didn't care.

Ash
Screw You, Kanen.gif

This was a disaster. Not only was Kanen screaming at her, but Sebastian, Sean, and Tatum decided they should try and stand up for her. At least they cared, but the last thing she wanted was for any of them to get hurt for her. And sure, Kanen wouldn't hurt Tatum (probably), but she knew that all Kanen wanted to do was punch Sean or Sebastian in the face.

She waited with bated breath when Sean stepped forward towards Kanen. It was like time was ticking by in slow motion. Ash tried to steady her breathing, looking towards Sebastian with the saucepan. "Don't fight him. Please." She murmured, then turned her attention back to Kanen and Sean, stepping forward a couple more steps.

"You know, at least my dad didn't kill himself because he couldn't stand having such a loser son." She spat. "You're not even in high school anymore, but you're here for what? To fucking pick on cheerleaders because you don't know have anything else to do with your life? You're fucking pathetic, Kanen. Pathetic."

Sawyer
tumblr_inline_n7vve7T0151sz03jf.gif
This was literally the stupidest argument that Sawyer had ever had. What were they even arguing about? It was obvious that both of them were both hurt. At least it was obvious to Sawyer. The more they argued the more Sawyer started to get convinced that Grace wasn't as over her as she had thought. If Sawyer wasn't as hot-headed as she was she might have stopped and actually tried to talk to Grace, but everything Grace said just seemed to m grate and little more on her temper. What the hell did she mean did she expect her to just believe that? Of course she did. Grace acted like Sawyer was some kind of pathological liar or some shit. But she didn't have time to really respond to the derogatory question before Grace launched into more heated words.

Knew she would get this way? Sawyer resisted the urge to hit something. Sawyer wasn't some little kid, Grace didn't have to talk to her like she was one. Of course she would get like this. Sawyer was still very much in love with Grace and she knew that, no matter how much she might try to deny it. It wasn't like Sawyer had intended on having Grace find her. If she'd wanted her to she would've said something right there in the cafeteria. Sure, they were broken up but it was far from mutual and Sawyer had every right to be sad. It wasn't like she was shoving it in Grace's face or anything.

"Great. I'm fucking ecstatic. I hope she's everything you've ever wanted, Grace, wrapped up in a little ribbon." Sawyer had never rolled her eyes harder in her life. She didn't know the girl but right now she hated every fucking bone in her body. Who did she think she was slobbering all over her girl. Even if she wasn't hers right now Sawyer sure as hell wasn't gonna let whatchamacallit have her. "You know what, I tried to fucking tell you JJ kissed me too. She was hurt and confused and I was the only one who fucking gave a shit. She's my friend. I'm taking my friend to prom because she's fucking pregnant and she doesn't have anyone else, neither of us do. So quit fucking assuming I sleep with everything that has boobs and breathes."

Shit.
Sorry JJ.

Grace
tumblr_inline_p1081764xL1t7z55k_250.gifv

Grace was momentarily sidetracked by her anger from complete shock. JJ was pregnant? Her mind suddenly went to routines that she'd made her try out-- no, that wasn't the point. "What?" How did Sawyer even know in the first place? What was it with pregnant girls and Sawyer? Why did they always go to her for safety it made zero sense for Grace, but again-- not the point. She didn't care about JJ's unborn baby right now.

"Okay, fine, you two are friends, sure." Deep down Grace knew that it was just a kiss, that it meant nothing to Sawyer or JJ. But the fact that it took Sawyer more than a week just to tell her about it that was her fault. Not Grace’s. "It doesn't change the fact that you say you tried to tell me, It obviously didn't work out or we wouldn't be here right now." It was true wasn't it? If none of that ever happened-- if they didn't go on that trip, they would still be together? Grace wouldn't of broken up with her, right? "You let me worry about stupid Hunter for a whole week while you kissed JJ and didn't tell me about it." It didn’t matter who kissed who; if it was a secret worth keeping it was worth their relationship ...she guesses anyway.

"I shouldn’t have to ask you about these things. ‘Hey Sawyer, did you lose ur virginity to Hunter? Hey Sawyer, did you kiss JJ? Or Hey! Why don’t we talk about which girl emotionally attached to you is pregnant this time?” Grace took the bag off the shoulder and threw it off to the side, resulting in a loud thud against the wall. She didn’t mean to throw it that hard but she’s isn’t so sure what she actually means to say or do right now.

“It’s always so fucking hard with you. Everything is.” A relationship shouldn’t be hard. That’s what Grace believed, then again she didn’t have to worry about that anymore. So why was it still difficult?

Why was moving on from her so hard?

Casper

It seemed like every word that left Tom’s mouth pushed Casper further and further on edge. First he made a comment on how much Casper liked strawberries, and now they were talking about that ghost again.

Back prickling, Casper nodded an affirmative, glancing back to Tom for a look or… well, anything, really.

But Tom was busy with chicken nuggets, and Casper’s eyes widened as he spoke. He shook his head, mouth dropping a bit as Tom rattled off facts. Despite himself, Casper was drawn in.

“Really?” he said, reeling at the thought that something as simple as chicken nuggets was ending the world.

Then Tom found the cookies, and Casper’s stomach flopped. He looked away, nails digging into his hand as he nodded, eager to do what Tom told him and ignore that last rankling comment that left his mouth.

Their stomach clenched as they simply found ingredient after ingredient, nothing pre-prepared, mouth ticking down further and further as they tried to figure out how to break the news.

Kanen
Kanen stopped stretching when Sean decided to step up too. Kanen wasn't disappointed though. Frankly, kicking the ever living shit out two little fucks sounded like a good time. Hell, maybe they'd beat his ass instead? Who knows?! Kanen would be fine with it either way. Most the time he was just numb to everything. He didn't feel happy, sad, anxious, or scared. It was like he'd fried his fucking brain popping pills and sticking himself with needles. Everything was physical for him now. Only time he ever felt any sort of thrill was when he was fucking or when he was fighting, and even then, it faded quick. Luckily, Kanen managed to find himself plenty of fights up and down the east coast and any given hole in the wall nightclub had at least a few girls who liked the whole 'dark and dangerous' vibe. This was Westbrook though, and with no one worth fucking, Kanen was happy to bruise his knuckles.

Sean gave his little speech, and Kanen just shook his head. "Why would I walk away?" He challenged. Though he heard something going on with the two girls he'd come in with, Kanen didn't pay them much mind. They were strangers. He didn't them, they didn't know him. As far as Kanen was concerned, they might as well have not been there. For now, all Kanen really saw was Ash and the two punching bags she had been hanging out with.

When Ash spoke up again, she acted like she'd dealt some savage blow to him. As if he hadn't spent the last year and a half hearing jokes and comments like. Yeah sure, the first few times Kanen had flown off the handle, but at this point, Kanen didn't really care. "Real original." Kanen said, clapping his hands slowly. "But way to prove my point though. You sit there all day acting like you're hot shit, but you'll take the low road just as quick as me." Kanen shrugged his shoulders.

While Sean and Ash had been a pretty good distraction, Kanen was still more interested in the kid with the frying pan. He'd been hit with everything from baseball bats to leather belts, but a frying pan would be a first. Kanen sidestepped Ash and then pushed his way past Sean, taking his time as he walked between the tables and chairs to stand right in front of him. Kanen locked eyes with him, his hand gripping a chair just a little bit too firmly.

"Hey, batter, batter..."

The words rolled off Kanen's tongue.

"Swing."

In a motion that was smooth enough to look rehearsed, the chair swung upward at the boy. Arms roped with muscles carried it with ease, whipping through the air with the soul purpose of putting the other boy on the ground. No doubt, the other boy was ready for it, but it didn't matter. Kanen had had just about enough talking. He just wanted to break some bones now.

Sawyer

Sawyer had been worried about literally just putting JJ to Grace. Maybe if she had just calmed down that never would've happened but there didn't seem to be any chance of calming down at the moment. The pressure was building in the room and Sawyer was sure it would blow soon. Grace was being kind of an asshole. They both were. But they had barely spoke a word to eachother since the breakup and all the emotions built up inside were just now coming out. Sawyer was pissed and Grace was pissed and this was making out to be a really great time.

Everything that Grace said hit Sawyer like a punch, knocking the wind out of her with every syllable. Sawyer knew she had been a terribly unreliable girlfriend, God did she know, and Grace was only just bringing all of those mistakes back to her. She suddenly felt like she couldn't breathe and her heart was beating wildly. Even as she spiraled down into a pit, her anger just kept piling up and she used it to climb right back out of that damn pit. To hell with that, Sawyer had down trodden herself enough. She wasn't about to let Grace throw her back into self-pity.

"I know, I was such a fucking terrible girlfriend. I know." Sawyer groaned, exasperated and her nostrils flared. At this point she didn't know if she was more mad at herself or Grace but that didn't stop her from taking it out on the latter. "Whatever, Grace. Fuck off. If everything's so fucking hard, why don't you just leave? Why are you standing here arguing with me? Why'd you come looking for me? If everything was so goddamn hard wouldn't you just avoid me at every possibility? Yet here you fucking are, tearing my head off about things that shouldn't even matter anymore. But they fucking do, don't they? They matter cause neither one of us is over eachother." Sawyer's teeth clenched as her voice got calmer and less shrill, changing into a steady and penetrating tone, "I'm sorry for being a fucking jackass. I'm sorry for not being the....I don't fucking know, whatever the hell you wanted me to be. But don't you fucking sit here and tell me that everything is hard with me, of course it is, we're fucking kids. But I loved you...I don't think I've stopped."

Sawyer sucked in a breath, but it did nothing to calm her, "Whatever. Whatever. Fucking hit me, Grace. Give me your best shot. Tell me all my flaws would you? Maybe I'll find out something I didn't fucking know before."

Grace didn’t want to feel bad for her. No, she wasn’t going to allow herself to. Sawyer was practically hiding in a corner while Grace threw all the flaws in their relationship at her like she was pelting her with rocks. Who wouldn’t that hurt. But that’s the thing, once she gave up her anger, once she looked at her like just the hurt girl she was, Grace would change her mind in a second. They’d be back together and everything would feel fine but it wouldn’t be.

She didn’t want that as much as her heart did. It was proof the way it completely halted when Sawyer admitted that she still loved her, but Grace forced herself not to react— she was completely fine in faking that she was okay, that she was over her.

“Please, throw out all that self-pity stuff. I’m not here to tell you why everything went wrong in out relationship, it wasn’t just you. I’m not stupid, I know it was my fault too.” Her anger had started to subside for the most part and it just felt like she was frustrated with herself, Grace hated because she felt like this. It was a classic case of the head and the heart and right now neither was winning. “I don’t even know why I’m here. Maybe I wanted to tell you that I’m moving on. That I’m trying to, and I just don’t want it to be hard anymore. I want to be done.”

Now that she thinks about it, whatever internal battle Grace was fighting hardly mattered, it was because her and Sawyer are on completely different teams and that’s why it’s a stalemate. Grace couldn’t move on until Sawyer did. That’s it— that’s all there was to it.

“Jesus Sawyer, just let me be done.”

She knew it wasn’t that simple, Grace just hoped it was.

A lot of things were happening, or at least, it felt that way to Sebastian. Kanen took off his jacket and outer shirt and then folded it neatly aside, which made Sebastian feel a pinch less intimated for a moment – with a confused arched eyebrow, he glanced at the other people in the room, wondering or hoping if they were aware that none of them lived in a cheesy action movie. Then there was the quiet dark-haired girl on the other side of the room who made a shelf collapse somehow. That was pretty random, and it was the least of his concern.

While Sean stepped in and attempted to simmer down the tension, with Tatum somewhat contributing in her own way, Sebastian focused on the inked brute and a bundle of things running to his mind, his heart practically rattling from fight-or-flight adrenaline. A kick to the crotch first came to mind, since he was wearing steel-toe boots today. And if that first part of his strategy worked, then he would immediately swing the stainless-steel saucepan to the face while Kanen keeled over.

Sebastian noticed how Ash glanced at him. For a moment, he hesitated, his grip beginning to loosen around the saucepan handle. Her eyes told him that she didn’t want him to get hurt. Before he could step away to a safer distance, Kanen made the first move. Sebastian wasn’t an ounce surprised that Kanen wouldn’t listen to reason; just one glance at the look of the guy’s face made it clear.

Meanwhile, the snowstorm had settled down and students were allowed to go home. Lucia Torres had arrived at the high school to get her nephew. She sent five text messages beforehand but received no reply, which nudged her concern. She left her Glock in her car, leaving her police badge and 2 handcuffs strapped on her belt, zipped up her leather jacket, and entered the building. While roaming the hall, Lucia heard a loud clatter from a classroom nearby. Her police instincts kicked in. She rushed into the Home Ec classroom just as Seb dodged away from a flying chair, thanks to his old basketball agility training.

It took less than 2 seconds for Lucia to assess the situation. Dashing in front of her nephew, she swiftly pulled her yellow-black Taser gun from its holster and aimed it at the chest of the tall tattooed guy. Lucia kept her commanding voice steady but deadly serious. She had taken down punks taller than her before.

“Westbrook PD – whatever issues you have here, it’s not worth it. Be smart. Back away and walk out right now, or get your ass zapped to the ground.” A Taser is a Taser. Even if Kanen was supposedly used to whatever pain he’d experienced and carried himself as a “tough guy”, he was still human, and no one could withstand being hit by thousands of volts to the chest. This was the real world, not a comic book.
