Beau
giphy.gif

Okay, that was kind of nasty, but it was okay! Beau trailed after him on his way to the bathroom. After all, where else was she supposed to do for the rest of the day but get to know her new boo?

"Don't worry, bae! I'll be waiting right here!" She called after him as he disappeared into the bathroom. Beau naturally started tweeting, only to soon find a girl that was obviously jealous. What a bitch.

Oh well. No one could match her.

Time kept ticking by, and her bae was taking forever. Beau sighed loudly, hoping that her bae could hear her. God. She was thirsty. And tired. And kind of hungry, and really bored.

"Hey bae, I'm going to go get something to drink! I love you! I'll be right back! Don't you leave me, boo." Beau called into the bathroom before she started walking off down the hallway to look for a pop machine.

Maisie perked up almost immediately. "Yeah?" So clearly Aaron wasn't opposed to hanging out with her, and that alone wasn't going to ruin their day together. So what if they didn't go to a movie, or watch tv at home. She could still make this fun. A smile came across her face and she grabbed him by the hand, dragging him along with her as they walked through the hallway. "C'mon I got the perfect idea." And maybe it wasn't exactly perfect, but it sounded fun.

They rounded a corner and entered the empty art room.

Nobody was here and they had all these supplies left to their imagination. She grabbed two blank canvases and placed them on top of the easels, opening the small cans of paint that'd been left without supervision. "Who cares if Casper is the brother who draws. No one ever said you couldn't have fun." She held out a brush for him to grab with an expectant look and the world's brightest smile.

Grace
virginia-gardner-gif-tumblr-6.gif

It was a sweet moment. The two met eyes and smiles were exchanged, and Grace would be lying if she'd said she hadn't felt a little flip in her stomach. And then of course, the loud sounds of Sawyer Andrews had come into play and she flinched, making distance between Keisha and Grace. A questionable look was thrown towards Sawyer, it wasn't as if she was jealous. Because-- that'd just be stupid. She had Jess.

Why would she be jealous?

Managing a polite smile towards the rather scary librarian, and muttering her oh-so many 'sorrys' she threw out as the old lady walked away and the blonde let out a relief sigh. Look, she was just a little intimidating. With a last glance towards Sawyer, she took Keisha's hand. The thought of an actual Valentine's date brought the smallest smile to her face. Grace didn't think she'd get one this year, or even the next.

So, maybe she was planning on being heart-broken over Sawyer her whole life. But despite their awkward date, Keisha persisted on taking her out again for some reason, she actually liked her. And... Keisha made her feel okay again, even if it was for the smallest moment. She silently prayed that Sawyer hadn't heard the mention of Valentines' even if Grace is trying to move on, she's not deliberately trying to hurt her.

With a last glance towards Sawyer, Grace followed Keisha out, passing by JJ with a questionable look and continued on.

Tatum was nice to be around. Her presence and the banter between them almost made him forget everything that felt wrong in his life; that was wrong in his life. Sure, he'd only known her for a few minutes. But if he's being honest, this is probably the longest he'd ever talked to someone in a long time. He waited for her to finish her question and it ended up being something different in the first place. He'd heard a sound but thought nothing of it, it could've just been his teammates deciding to practice here and there and kept his focus on Tatum.

He couldn't help but feel like she was trying to ask something else but decided to answer her question nonetheless, a small shrug rose to his shoulders and he held the ball under his arm instead of throwing it. "Not very long? Freshman year maybe? I dunno. I'm not that big of a fan of it." It's true he wasn't. Sure, he participated in sports. But he didn't particularly enjoy any of them very much. "I'm trying to get a scholarship, and look at me, I can't even make a basket." He chuckled, it didn't bother him much. But he was trying, and that's all that mattered to him.

Well, it's not the only thing that mattered to him.

And at that exact moment, a certain blonde had made her way into his vision. "Serena?" He asked questionably as to why she was here, glancing towards Tatum and her both, he gave a sheepish smile towards Tatum. "Uh, she's my ex." His voice was low, after all he didn't want Serena to know that he'd told her.

Juliette was indeed, pregnant. Sawyer had taken her to a clinic way far from here and they did one of those weird pee tests. Obviously it works better at a clinic other than one of those five dollar things. She hasn't talked to Ava since her big outburst when they found out, Zach moved away, and Bryan's been at his grandparents for like, ever. Sure, JJ could've reached out to either of them. But they didn't care about her.

Well, Bryan sure didn't.

Asshole.

She didn't want to drag Zach into this, his family was busy with living in a new town or whatever and she just didn't... she didn't need his help anyway. JJ had money, she could deal with this on her own. However, the thing she couldn't deal with on her own, was in fact

Prom queen.

A stack of flyers slammed onto the table with a loud thud. "Get up." She spoke, eyeing the dirty looking blonde down. Taking one and handing it to her, it was a photo of her on a swing. said 'JJ swings your way, vote for prom queen!' "You're helping me put these up." She glanced down at the book in her hands and clear confusion was written all over her face. "Uh, what are you doing with a book? And why do you look so... sulky."

Casper

Casper curled in on himself at this antagonistic boy’s comment, glancing to his wallet. It was a harsh reminder, and in all honesty, he wasn’t quite sure why he kept it around. No, that wasn’t it- He missed Stu, and what had happened to Stu was his fault. It was nice having a reminder of what would happen if he let someone get too close. Important, too.

Still, his gaze dropped as he shrugged, moving to place his bag in his locker and pull out his coat.

Of course, that was when this boy pulled out his drawing.

“Hey!” he said, reaching for it- but he hesitated, pulling his hand back anxiously as he stared at his peer, waiting for a response. It didn’t pass him by the way this boy was looking at it, and he was sure that he was thinking of a million mean things to say. He tugged at his hair before the boy finally spoke, and he almost passed out with relief.

“A friend,” he said quickly, reaching a hand out hesitantly. “Can I have it back?”

Aaron

Aaron nodded, though his head only snapped up once she took his hand, face quickly breaking out into a grin as she tugged him away. His mind raced with thoughts of what might be occurring, and as he saw where they were going, his heart began to match pace.

He stood to the side for a moment, simply watching Maisie curiously as she pulled out supplies and set it out, heart beginning to pound harder. He looked up to her as she spoke, eyes alight with something light, something he hadn’t felt in a long time as she held out the brush to him.

He smiled, taking it from her as he nodded. “You’re right,” he agreed, and was almost surprised to find he meant it. He looked at the colors, though it was hardly necessary. He knew that like always he would go for the warmer colors.

As he prepared his brush, he glanced to her, smiling as he grabbed some red to smack on the canvas.

Tom

8wy7yhH.gif

Tom was having too much fun ransacking this kid’s locker. OK, not exactly ransacking. But the wimp didn’t seem to mind him going through his stuff, so he was making the most out of his free entertainment. What? There was a deadly snowstorm outside. Deadly. Catastrophes such as these tended to bring strangers together, just like in the movies.

‘A friend, huh?’ Tom chuckled, then mumbled. ‘Yeah, sure. A friend. Mmhm.’

The wimpy kid was nearly begging, but where was the fun in giving the drawing back right away? Tom stared at it a little longer on purpose, traumatising its owner just a little more.

‘I guess you’re pretty good at drawing, aren’t you?’ he said. ‘How long have you been drawing?’

Tom appreciated the drawing some more, holding it to the light like a seasoned connoisseur of fine art.

'How old is he then, this boyfriend of yours?'

Sawyer

Great they left. Sawyer grumbled and sulked in her chair as she watched Keisha and Grace stand and leave. Something about Valentine's day entered her ears and Sawyer winced because that stung, a lot. Maybe she shouldn't have caused a ruckus, but what the hell else was she supposed to do? Sawyer thought it was fairly obvious that she wasn't over Grace in any way shape or form, but Gracw didn't seem to see that as she happily skipped away with whatchamacallit. Okay, she wasn't skipping but to Sawyer she might as well have been. Whatever. Whatever. Sawyer clutched her book, white knuckled, it was fine just a bump in Sawyer's steely determination to dig her way back into Grace's heart. She just....needed some new tactics. Right now she needed to mull over those tactics while simultaneously trying to enjoy her book. It wasn't working very well because the words were getting all jumbled and Sawyer had been in the same page since the Library Skeleton left. She was just about the sit the book down and give up when posters were slammed down in front of her and she was greeted by JJ's lovely face. Fantastic.

Running for prom queen? Sawyer could remember taking her to the clinic and she could definitely remember the way she stated blankly out the window the entire drive back. While she would never admit it out loud, Sawyer had hurt for her a little. Right now, JJ was the closest thing to a friend she had and everything happening to her kinds sucked. But, it seemed like normal JJ was back at it, sweeping in places and demanding things. It was oddly refreshing, Sawyer needed some healthy banter and JJ always provided.

"Never mind me, why are you running for prom queen." Sawyer closed her book as she took a poster and looked over it, "Don't you have bigger things to worry about? I think you left your oven on." She grinned up at JJ, "You want me to help you hang these up, you owe me breakfast tomorrow."

Kanen
Kanen was pleasantly surprised when the little Demon left. Sure, he hoped she would but he hadn't really been sure. Thank God she was gone though. Being trapped in the school would be bad enough without having some rat-child clinging to his arm. After waiting a few moments, just to be sure, Kanen slid off the counter top and briefly checked himself in the mirror. He was a drug addicted alcoholic, not a slob. Despite everything, Kanen still took great pride in his appearance. Once he was satisfied, he peaked out of the bathroom. Head on a swivel, Kanen looked quickly for the lunatic and set off into the hallways. He hadn't even made it far before running into the stupid bow tie kid again.

The little shit. For the most part, Kanen generally left people alone. Yeah, he was an absolute asshole, but only when he felt like someone deserved it. But there Bowtie was, clearly giving some other poor kid trouble. The other kid, who Kanen really didn't know, looked like he was about ready to burst into tears. Maybe Kanen's still got some sort of moral conscious, or maybe he was just looking for an excuse to go after Bowtie now. Who knows? Not Kanen, that's for sure. He hadn't even made up his mind before he was marching over into the two smaller boys' direction.

His hand came to grip Bowtie's shoulder. Not quite hard enough to hurt, but firm enough to make sure the kid wasn't going to run off. "When you're trying to make friends at a new school, you should be polite." He spoke, his undertone only hinting at a threat.

Kanen's eyes moved to the other kid, the shy one. he tried his best to look friendly or at least not threatening. "The polite thing for Bowtie here to do is to give you your stuff back, yeah?" Kanen's gaze snapped back onto Bowtie. "I think you should give his stuff back, and after, you can go ahead and apologize for being a little prick."

Maisie
tumblr_inline_pqauwiyIhw1u9urvd_400.gifv

Maisie was glad enough that Aaron decided to take her advice. Catching his eye and returning the smile she started to look forward to whenever they'd spend time together. She never got to paint usually, she never had an easel and the schools she used to go to, weren't very... financially stable enough for an art class, so it went to the things that mattered most. Like... smart people things. Maisie never really cared about any of that; but if she had to choose, it'd be history, definitely. The brush glided across canvas with ease as she got to work, using a mix of dark and light colors.

She didn’t have a preference, it didn’t matter really. As long as it somewhat pointed out what she was feeling, even if it was the most disastrous looking painting in the world.

Thankfully, it wasn’t. Minutes passed by the two in comfortable silence; at least for Maisie it was comfortable. And soon enough she had a well-drawn cat painting. “Ta-da. It’s me.” Okay, well of course it wasn’t her. She just... liked cats. They were her spirit animal. Quiet, cautious, — they shared eyes. —Why would she paint anything else?

While Maisie was looking over Aaron’s painting, The brush she’d been holding slipped from her hands, causing her to fumble with it last second, splattering a few drops of paint towards Aaron.

She hadn’t even noticed it at first, continuing her critique. “Eh, it’s okay.” Maisie eyed Aaron with a blank look before it broke into a smile, stepping closer to him with a mischievous look in her eye. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Even if you painted a clown it’d be more than just okay, because you made it.” The paint brush tapped against Aaron, successfully leaving a black spot onto his nose.

Juliette
tumblr_inline_p7hsi3lCIS1sccn28_250.gifv

Sawyer clearly didn’t want to talk about what was up with her, so naturally switching to Juliette’s favorite subject (cough, cough, her favorite subject being her.) Is what quickly distracted her from prying. “What do you mean, why?” Besides Sawyer’s ex, Juliette felt as though she was everyone’s favorite. — and of course, she was! Who wouldn’t want to vote for her?

It’s not like Grace was running, or worse; Ash. What was up with the blondes in this school? They felt like they were hot-shots— no offense to Sawyer, but Grace was just a pushover and Ash... well, she was a hot mess. Whatever, It’s not like JJ hated them both. Maybe just one, very, very strongly.

She rolled her eyes, mimicking a smile before it quickly faded. “Haha, you’re so funny. Besides, I have an appointment to... turn my oven off.” The words rolled out of her mouth hesitantly, balancing the edges of her boots onto the carpet beneath her. She had other things to worry about right now! JJ couldn’t be bothered thinking about babies.

“Sure, yeah whatever, all you can eat. Now put the dumb book back where it came from and let’s get started.” A hefty stack of flyers was slid towards Sawyer, it definitely more than half—what? Juliette was pregnant, she couldn’t hold heavy things.

Yeah, that’s right. She’s gonna milk this thing for all it’s worth. — Just with Sawyer though, no-one else had to know anything.

She narrowed her eyes at the century old librarian who was no doubt giving her the side-eye, well, maybe it was the side-eye, it could’ve just been one of those weird glass eyes because she lost her own in 1840. Oh, who cares. The only eyes that mattered to JJ was the ones who’d vote.

She strode through the hallway of the school, taping a few flyers up to the wall. “So, I saw Grace with the new girl. Is that why you looked all... weird?” Okay, she looked sad. As different as they were; JJ didn’t want her to be sad. If that’s what she’s worried about, bringing up her ex probably not the best topic but Juliette doesn’t give anyone privacy, why would Sawyer be an exception?

“Five plushies in one day? Wow. Sounds like a making of a young heartbreaker.” After zipping up his backpack, he closed his locker door and then followed Ash until he almost bumped against her back when she suddenly stopped. Sebastian looked over her shoulder and scowled at the swell of snow outside. It was like looking at a frozen apocalypse scene. “I’m kinda used to snow, but… that looks fatal enough to drive through.”

Before he could hope the blizzard to settle down soon and consider trudging through it, Sebastian listened to the announcement and huffed after hearing the word lockdown, grumbling: “You gotta be fucking kidding me.” He was supposed to babysit his cousin this evening to give the regular sitter a Valentine’s Day break. So much for planning his Single Awareness Eve movie and homemade hot cocoa night.

Sebastian sent a quick text to the cafe manager about the lockdown and another to his aunt, just in case. He barely noticed the tattooed guy passing by. “Well, being stuck in high school during a snowstorm all night definitely sucks,” he remarked. While keeping up with Ash's pace to her locker – there was nothing else better for him to do – Sebastian noticed how tensed she looked. The smell from her breath was subtle, but he knew right away that she wasn’t drinking water.

Instead of calling her out for the alcohol, he tugged a slight smile, casually saying, “No, thanks. I’m good.” For a moment, he glanced around his surroundings before spotting chocolate bars in a vending nearby, and an idea popped in his head. “You know, I can try making something warmer for us in one of the Home Ec rooms. They’re this way, right?” he said, taking the first few steps toward one direction of the hallway.

interactions: open

The last month or so had been both great and awful. She had found a couple new friends in Tatum and Noah, but had also lost a friend in Vanden. They had drifted apart over the past few weeks and now they didn’t even talk at all. It upset her, as he was the only one who had even an inkling of what she was going through at home, but it didn’t surprise her that he had stopped talking to her. It always happened. Once people learned anything personal about her, they often stopped talking to her. It was lonely, but probably for the best in the long run.

Things at home had even gotten a fraction less awful. Now that she wasn’t staying late after school, her father hadn’t done anything too terrible and she at the very least wasn’t in constant pain. She was at her locker when the announcement over the intercom made rang through the hall. Ana stood there clutching her locker door with wide eyes. It wouldn’t matter to her father the reason she didn’t make it home. When the announcement was over, silence seemed to deaden the hallway for only a moment before a loud ruckus broke out and students scurried through the halls. Ana shut her locker and hoisted her backpack up, making a beeline for the front doors. Blizzard or not, she typically walked home anyways. She didn’t want to risk her father’s anger over a little bit of snow. The doors were closed when she reached them and she pressed her face to the window, peering out through squinted eyes. It was only midday, but already it was dark enough to be nighttime. She went ahead and tried the doors, but already they were locked. Great. Now she was trapped at school.

Tatum was still avoiding some eye contact with Caleb as he spoke, it was less uncomfortable for her and maybe even for him. They both seemed liked two awkward souls with others and somehow that seemed more than comforting. Granted she still felt the urge to drink but yet she didn’t quite want to leave him. Maybe just maybe he’d be one of the few people that she could be sober around. When she heard the door, she had originally ignored it but was still shocked to hear that Caleb didn’t really enjoy sports, but she also knew there were many others who played sports but never really loved it, “Yeah I get it.” She gave a small smile, letting her eyes look up for just a moment. This feeling of ease was nice, “I think you’ll get a scholarship. You made a basket and you’re far better than me.”

At the mention of another girl’s name Tatum turned her gaze towards the other blonde, her eyes looking her up and down. She was pretty and it made her feel more insecure about herself. Of course, he had an ex that looked like her. He wouldn’t have an ex that was ugly. She could sense some discomfort in the gym, and she smiled at the other blonde, “Hi, I’m Tatum.” All she could do was try and keep the smile on her face. She leaned over to Caleb to whisper in his ear, “She seems really angry. She’s not going to hurt me, right? Her eyes could murder right now.” She didn’t want to upset the girl and she kind of wanted to leave, she leaned into Caleb and gave him a hug, “I don’t want to be between whatever this is. Thank you for a pleasant time. Message me on Twitter I’d love to hang out.” She pulled away from the hug. She gave an awkward wave to the other blonde and ducked out of the gym. She was glad that the blonde couldn’t hear any conversation between the two, mostly because she had stayed quiet when she had spoken to Caleb.

When she made her way to her locker, she saw a figure struggling with the door. That was the moment she realized she had ignored the announcement while hanging out with Caleb. She realized it was Ana, “I don’t think you’re getting home.” She yelled loudly in her direction, “You want to come with me to my locker?” Ana and Tatum had spent a few lunches together and Tatum had mostly complained about her classes and kept Ana in the loop of some of the crazy things that had happened in her life. Ana never spoke so Tatum had done her best to fill in conversation. Of course, she never mentioned her drinking but she definitely had put liquor in a few of her bottles in order to keep her conversation alive. Now she was going to get her locker liquor and still see if Ash wanted to drink with her.

Casper

Of course it couldn’t be that simple. Casper bit his lip, hand going to squeeze his arm just above his elbow.

“Years,” Casper admitted in a mumble, watching Tom lift the picture up with hesitant eyes. He let out a pained whine at the second question, trying to think of some way to explain that didn’t hurt so much. Stu didn’t like him, not like that, and they weren’t even friends anymore. Aaron had made sure of that.

And then, like magic, Casper was saved. He looked up at the stranger as he rested a hand on Tom’s shoulder, and the fact that this person, this man that was somehow inexplicably at his school on this terrible day, was standing up for Casper- Casper- made him nearly flush.

He quickly looked down, nodding as he was questioned. Agreeing seemed like the right thing to do, head spinning as he realized that someone had actually done something for once, that that whisper of wanting someone to do the hard part for him, to assert what he needed, had actually happened.

Slowly, Casper glanced up, careful not to let his eyes wander.

~`*`~

Aaron

For a while, he simply painted, doing nothing specific. Just reds and yellows and oranges forming a pattern across the canvas. It was nice to just stop thinking for a while, wasn’t it? To just… forget. He didn’t have to go home, not today, and he was with Maisie, and his parents couldn’t even be mad at him over it. And even better, he was creating something.

After what felt like no time at all, Maisie was speaking, and Aaron glanced to her canvas- and stared. It was a cat- A good one, too. Better than he could do, at the very least. He couldn’t pull his eyes away.

At least, not until she dropped the brush. He jumped, looking to her face as she looked at his. For a second, she seemed so blank, and his heart froze as, quiet, he wondered if he sounded like that. Still, he forced a laugh, heart warming at her words as she dabbed paint on his nose.

“Yours…” He kept smiling, telling himself this was good, that there was no one else around, that he was safe, even if he didn’t necessarily feel it as he leaned closer, brushing some orange against her cheek. “Yours is amazing.”

Sawyer

JJ her almost all of the stupid flyers to carry around, and Sawyer sighed as she kicked the chair back under the table and followed after JJ. The book she tucked quietly into her backpack before the Library Skeleton noticed. She didn't have time to check anything out with JJ storming back through the library at the speed of light. Besides, the last thing she needed was JJ making fun of her for checking out a book. Sawyer practically had to run to keep up with JJ. How the hell did she move so fast? At least a solid three flyers flew put of her hands as she trailed after JJ, she didn't bother to stop and pick them up.

The hall was empty, thank god, save for a stoner kid mumbling about fire hazards as he shuffled down the hall. Weird. Anyway, JJ had slower down to a reasonable pace and Sawyer was able to actually walk beside her. Immediately, she wished she had stayed behind her. JJ had to go a bring up Grace. Sawyer sucked in a breath and tried to keep a calm facade as she answered Grace's question.

"No, we're all going on a date tomorrow. Super excited." Sawyer said with a tone that dripped sarcasm, "Whatever, I'm fine. You printed a ton of these are you planning on plastering the whole school?" She quickly turned the subject back on JJ without hesitation.

Tom

8wy7yhH.gif

Years? That explained why he was such a good artist. Well, that drawing wasn’t the only thing that caught Tom’s attention. The rest of this kid’s locker was clearly a work of art in itself.

‘Christ Almighty, you must have a lot of free time,’ Tom pointed out.

He peeked inside the locker some more, and studied the colourful space wallpaper. On the back side of the door was a heart-shaped mirror and a blue plastic mesh container, and all around them were cute magnets and various sticky notes.

‘Do you like space?’ Tom asked. ‘I do too. . . Bloody Mary, is that a chandelier?’

Yes it was. There was an actual chandelier in the locker. Wow. This kid was a complete weirdo.

Tom liked it.

‘Mate, you must be an art genius or something, like Picasso,’ he said. ‘I’ve taken art classes, but I can’t hardly draw—’

Just as he was trying to hold a friendly conversation with this boy, Mr. Billy Goat had to come back and ruin the moment. Well, Tom wasn’t the least bit intimidated by this development, even with the guy gripping his shoulder. If he beat him up then that was all the more reason for him and Bowbow not to move to this school. It would prove his mother wrong and make the headmistress look pretty stupid. Plus, would a guy really beat up a kid half his own size? That would be a bit pathetic, wouldn’t it? -- even by Billy Goat's standards.

Tom glanced around, wondering where Bowbow had disappeared to and how she came to separate with Billy Goat. Knowing his sister, there was no way she would let her newfound heartthrob slip away so easily.

Well, the grip on his little shoulder was becoming a little tight, so Tom put the drawing back on the books where he found it.

‘Now can you remove your hand, please?’ he requested in earnest. ‘You’re creasing my shirt, and it is an expensive shirt.’

Sawyer's sarcasm wasn't appreciated, especially since it left Juliette feeling more than confused until she glanced over the blonde. It took much convincing for Juliette not to suddenly decide to hate her. But she obviously didn't want to talk about it, so the brunette wasn't going to push anymore than she already was; she wasn't going to give up the free help. ... semi-free.

Now that she actually thinks about it? Who else would help her hang up these flyers besides someone she threatened? With Sawyer, there was no threatening necessary and that alone was a breath of fresh air. "Um, yes. Why else would I print out a whole ton? Whatever's left I'll... I don't know, give to the coffee shop or something." JJ was set on winning, she never wanted anything else that badly.

Well, besides a stable relationship, that's the only thing she wanted right now.

Among other things... then Juliette's mind started to wander and she felt knots in her stomach. Gross. Pregnancy was stupid. "I've wanted Prom Queen since forever, last year wouldn't of worked out because I wasn't as popular, but this year? I mean, come on. I don't think anyone else is fit to have the crown." While her close-minded attitude followed her around everywhere, so did her opinions; and the truth was, no one wanted this more than her and nothing was going to stop her from getting it.

"Unless you want to run? I think people might actually vote for you this time around. Considering you and Grace won homecoming."

Maisie felt her cheeks burn at the compliment, not many people really paid attention or cared enough to actually say something about what she made, and well, most of it was illegal and anonymous, but Aaron didn't have to know about that just yet. Her heart skipped multiple beats as he leaned in closer, and at first she was nervous, wasn't she supposed to do that too?

He wanted to kiss her.

Right?

Maisie leaned in closer, and closer,

and soon enough they were inches apart, her eyes fluttered closed and right when she expected their lips to touch, a loud bang made her flinch away noticing the paint can that'd rolled onto the floor, startling her and ruining her first kiss that seemed like it wouldn't happen in the first place. She wasn't sure what she was doing, but before she had the chance to realize what she was saying; she was already saying it.

"Do you want to go to Prom with me?" Her words were rushed but it was intelligible, and her gaze searched his eyes for an answer.

Aaron

She was leaning in. Oh god, she wanted to kiss him, didn’t she? ...And he wanted to kiss her, too, didn’t he? Wasn’t that what this feeling was?

His heart began to pound, blood rushing to his ears as he wondered what it might be like to kiss someone the proper way.

He should probably close his eyes, right?

He shut them tightly, hand going to clench the table, unable to bring himself to touch Maisie. If he did, he was positive she’d feel how much he wanted, day in and day out, how hungry he was for this.

He leaned closer, and as his hand moved back, he felt the can fall back.

His eyes snapped open wide, blood flooding his face as Maisie flinched.

Her eyes reached his, and he felt vulnerable. He almost didn’t mind.

Before he could think of what consequences asking out Maisie might incur, he found himself saying, “Of course.”

Sawyer had to admit she couldn't think of anyone else right now that would actually win homecoming queen. Ash was the only one she could really see but that girl was a hot mess and she doubted ted Ash would even run. Grace was too busy planning the actual thing to run. So, who else other than JJ? Sawyer figured she had a pretty good chance right now. So what was the harm in running? Sawyer figured she could help out too, more than putting flyers up that is. She was pretty popular, people listened to her. Sawyer didn't doubt she could secure the basketball and hockey team votes. A slight chuckle escaped her lips, look at her, helping Juliette Jameson run for prom queen. Who would've thought.

Sawyer almost laughed again when JJ mentioned her running. Good lord, she could imagine it now. The thought of the faces in the crowd as they called Sawyer Andrews up for the prom queen crown. No fucking way. Though it was pretty ego boosting that JJ would think Sawyer could beat her. It wasn't often that someone like JJ said something like that. She'd take it.

"Yes, I'm totally running. I can see it now." Sawyer cleared her throat and held the flyers up like a winning ballot, "And your prom queen is.....Sawyer Andrews?" She did laugh this time, "No totally not running. But I bet I could get my teammates to uh..." She looked down and the flyers, "Swing your way." Sawyer snorted at the slogan.

"JJ swings your way. Really? I thought you weren't gay?"

"The TV is broken." Ari announced, as if Stu had't already realized that she had accidentally broken Raven's laptop, and successfully soaked the keyboard in juice.

"What are you listening to?" Ari asked, grabbing at the headphones on Stu's head and pulling them away before letting go so they smacked into his head. "Oh, sorry. Sorry." Wow, she was saying sorry a lot today. Wow, Ari was such a nice kid, saying sorry a lot today. Her daddy would be so proud of her, and she couldn't wait to see him.

Wait...

"When is my daddy getting here? Where is my daddy? I want my daddy." Tears started to swell up deep inside of her. Her dad should've been here by now, and then they would always have a snack and watch some cartoons. She was really hungry. And Ari could really go for some cartoons, not whatever weird show Stu was watching.

Serena

Ugh. This whole chain of events was a disaster. Now they were talking to her and whispering to each other. It was like they were already close, sharing discreet little secrets while she was left on the outside. It was a little detail, but it betrayed how much they already trusted each other. Serena always noticed things like that. Okay, whatever, not like the world was ending. She was just going to shoot a few hoops and leave.

So she picked up the ball before turning around to face them, taking in a deep breath to compose herself. "Hi. Caleb. I'm just here to get a little practice in." She replied to his questioning, putting on a sweet smile in spite of the clipped tone in her voice. Even though this 'Tatum' girl was clearly her ex's new thing, she was still someone Serena had never met before. Her well trained social instincts told her she needed to at least try to salvage her first impression. So she reluctantly approached them, idly fiddling with the basketball in her hands, and shifted her gaze to the other blonde. The other blonde who was already whispering away and hugging Caleb.

"Well...It was nice meeting you Tatum!" Serena called after the girl as she left, emerald green eyes following her on the way out. She could tell her poker face had come up a little too late though. So much for first impressions. Speaking of, she already didn't like that girl. Turning back to Caleb, her expression fell into a more neutral look, only her bright green eyes betraying her displeasure. "She seems nice." The girl remarked, an edge to her otherwise peppy voice.

Drake

Being clean sucked.

Well, it wasn't just the whole "being clean" part, there was also the whole "homeless" part. Lucky Mason had found a great home with Raven for himself and Ari, but Drake had found... nothing. After Belle and him had broken up and she had moved, he found himself out on the streets again. Drake hadn't wanted to go back to his mother. That would just drag him back down into the dangerous whirlpool of shooting up that he'd fallen into so many times before.

So Drake had been sleeping in a mixture of places. Crashing on friends' couches, abandoned houses, and a couple of times at the homeless shelter. He had to be careful there, though -- he certainly didn't want to go back into foster care. But it was all alright. Drake was happy. Sure, he'd been sick for a while following his original abandonment of drugs, but now he was, for the most part, feeling a lot better. Drake would come to the school early to shower, and he was throwing himself into his sports. With all the snow, he would come early to school to run and head into the weight room -- hell, Drake had already thrown on a couple pounds of muscle, and he could no longer make his stomach into an angry face. Next step: abs. He may not have had control over his life, but he did have control over his body.

Drake had actually been in the gym for an afternoon jog when the announcement came over the loud speakers. To be honest, it was the best news that he could've received. At least tonight he wouldn't be walking through the knee-deep snow in his old, ratty sneakers looking for some place to call home for the night.

After his jog, Drake decided to go exploring the school for his two friends. Granted, he hadn't spent as much time with Aaron or Maisie since... well, since he'd gotten clean. Drake had been too caught up in what was going on in his own head to bother much with keeping up his friendships, and he was almost embarrassed to see Maisie.

It took some exploring, but he finally caught sight of them... painting in the art room? Drake shrugged and opened up the door, a weak smile crawling its way on his face. "Hey, guys. Mind if I join you?"

She smiled despite her focus to ignore all feelings despite determination. Yeah, believe it or not-- JJ put Sawyer above all the other cheerleaders or any of the mutual 'popular girls. Sawyer was real; those other people Juliette hung out with were always fake, it was dumb compliments that meant nothing and were usually back-handed; Of course JJ is fluent in that. But it was beginning to get tiring, especially since she's been wondering what her 'friends' would do once she found out she was pregnant.

That amused smile quickly faded... mostly. "Okay, shut your mouth." A hand hit Sawyer's shoulder, not hard enough to hurt her obviously, but the intention was to. "Look, the weird poster chick made it for me. I couldn't think of one." Honestly, it didn't occur to JJ that it seemed suggestive in terms of sexuality. But oh well, what was the worst that'll happen? Her captain was freaking gay, no-one cared now.

Gay was just... all over WestBrook.

"Unlike you, I do actually like boys. Or else I wouldn't of gained eight pounds." She scoffed and taped another poster to the wall. "I asked you way before, instead of you like, knowing. You've never liked... any guy before?"

He had said yes!

Oh my gosh, that meant he actually liked her. Woah. Someone liked her.

"That's... --" Before Maisie could continue the door opened and Drake walked in, she had gotten nervous at the sight of him. Why did she feel like she was doing something wrong? She wasn't; he was with Belle, or well was he? It's not like they talked much during the past month or two. Maisie didn't really make it a priority and neither did he supposedly. She wanted him to get better and maybe that was best if she kept a distance from him.

"Oh. Hey, uh no it's cool. We were just... passing the time."

And they certainly had a lot of it to pass.

Sawyer

Sawyer laughed again when JJ smacked her and feigned pain, clutching her shoulder and letting out a over-exatterated "ow". She just nodded along as JJ explained the reason behind the flyer slogan. Sawyer knew full well that JJ wasn't entirely as straight as she thought she was. It didn't much matter anyway, they were lucky, no one really cared here. In fact it was incredibly hard to find someone in Westbrook that hadn't at least experimented. Everyone was pretty accepting, with the kids at least. Sawyer shuddered at the remembrance of Grace's mother. That woman was a bat out of hell. But she didn't need to think about Grace right now, she was enjoying teasing JJ.

"Not really." Sawyer answered JJ's question quickly, "I mean when I was like a little kid, sure. There was this one guy in like 2nd grade, I think. But I'm pretty sure I just thought he was like really cool now." Sawyer chuckled, "No, I was like super gay from a very young age. I had crushes on like all of my elementary teachers that weren't old hags." She mulled over her memories, trying to think of any other evidence of her gayness.

"Oh! I had my first kiss in 3rd grade." Sawyer dissolved into a fit of laughter, "Her name was Lacey Chandler and we had a fake wedding on the playground. I went home and told my dad that I was married now and I wanted my own house." She smiled fondly at the memory. Oliver hadn't even questioned it. Sawyer was pretty sure he'd always known.

"He built me a tree house and I slept in there one night and got scared to death. Lacey moved away like a week later. I was devastated."

Holy shoot, Keisha had actually won. She'd actually beaten out Grace's older ex-girlfriend. Oh my god. Keisha had just won the girl against a junior. This was amazing for freshmen everywhere.

Okay, okay. This was take two and like, one of the only few dates that Keisha had ever been on, and now it was like... the most important date of her young life. Keisha had to wow the hell out of Grace. Somehow... god, she didn't even have a license! How was she supposed to make Grace like her? God oh god.

This was a ton of pressure, especially seeing as how Grace was... well, she was Grace. Keisha's first ever crush. The reason she had known that she was gay in the first place.

Fuck.

"So uh... it-it's not the most romantic place ever, like school, obviously. But uh... I don't know. We can make this work. What kind of food do you like? I have some money, and I could get you some like chips or something. Anything is better than shitty cafeteria food, am I right?" Her laugh was super nervous. God, she had to do good.

And Grace was still holding her hand, which was making Keisha even more nervous.

So, Sawyer Andrews was always gay. It didn't surprise her in the least bit. There was just some people that just well, you could see it on them. Not that Juliette had a huge gaydar or anything; but Sawyer would stand out like a clown in a pool; Look, she had some really weird birthday parties as a child. "First kisses, ah, how sweet." Her nails tapped against the flyer as she tried to remember her own. Though, Sawyer's story was cute, she was almost envious. JJ never really had a lot of friends aside from Ava as a kid.

"Bryan was my first kiss actually." The thought of him made Juliette's amused smile fade as she put up yet another dumb poster, making sure it'd stick by adding aggressive amounts of tape, taking out her frustration on a poor piece of paper that had her own face on it.

Maybe she was mad at herself? Trusting Bryan, getting into bed with Zach, it was technically her fault. With a heavy sigh she pressed her back against a locker and slid down. Juliette needed a break; and she wasn't so sure she meant the hard labor she was doing by taping paper to walls.

"I don't know if I wanna do it." She admitted.

Keisha was nervous, and... that actually made Grace not-so nervous if that'd made sense? She didn't pretend to be all cool, and Grace didn't feel like she needed to hold up a façade for her, she could just... be her. But she had to admit; nervous Keisha was kind of cute. Okay, a little more than kinda but this whole new relationship thing is still... well, new to her. Not that they had a relationship of course-- okay, Grace can save the internal arguments for later.

"Relax, no one said you'd have to woo me or whatever. We're just hanging out." Maybe that seemed too casual, but casual seemed enough for now. Grace realized they were still holding hands but it didn't her as much. It didn't bother her at all. "C'mon, I have an idea." Within minutes they were at the cafeteria. Sure, they had terrible food. But no one would be surprised if Grace was friends with the lunch ladies. They were actually sweethearts despite the processed and microwave tasting food; she didn't judge them for it, they were only doing their job.

"Shh." She put a hand to her lips for secrecy, and successfully 'broke into' the kitchen whose doors were already open, producing more than just a few pudding cups and taking a seat onto the lunch table, "See, I can make miracles happen." Grace smiled and held out a spoon to Keisha.

"Well, delicious miracles."

Sam followed Mason wordlessly through the hallway and into the classroom, her arms crossed over her chest. She half leaned back against one of the desk next to his and sat there quietly for a moment. She didn’t exactly know how to go about this either. She really didn’t want to bring up his kid again, but how could she not? Especially with what he had said in the hallway.

“Well… we’re talking about us. I don’t really know how to do this either.” She sighed and ran a hand through her hair. The more time that went on, the more awkward she felt and the more her nerves built up. “Okay, so obviously we have to talk about your child. I don’t know what happened with you and whoever, but you know. You have a kid and I don’t know what you want from me. I’m not ready to help raise a child or whatever.”

She shrugged off the desk and walked over to the window. It was dark outside, but all she could really see was her reflection and a little bit of snow. “I know things have been kind of rocky and weird… and I haven’t really been the best. I’m not the best at talking about this stuff either, especially about myself.” She was always a fairly private person. She didn’t like to talk about her bad feelings or other negative things. She preferred to show people a better side of herself. “I know you said you wanted something different from before, but what do you really want? I mean are you like… looking for someone who will be a mom?"

Sawyer

These posters were really annoying. Sawyer wanted to punch the thing as it kept falling down as she was trying to tape it onto the stupid wall. One corner absolutely refused to stay stuck. Sawyer decided it was because that part of the wall was cursed so she moved it two inches to the left. It stayed. Fucking stupid piece of paper. She was startled by the sound of JJ pounding a flyer onto the wall behind her. She spun around as JJ slid down a locker to the floor. Sawyer stood there awkwardly for a second, wondering what had happened. Her eyes glanced at the terrible taping job JJ had just done. Had the Bryan thing made her sad? Bryan was a dick. She really didn't want her to be sad about him. What else could...oh.

Sawyer made her way over to JJ and slid down next to her, sitting the flyers on the floor beside her. She knew exactly what JJ was talking about, but she didn't quite know what to say yet. She fiddled with her thumbs before speaking.

"Do what, run for prom queen?" Sawyer asked, "I think you have a super good chance. You've got my vote at least." It was a pitiful attempt to at least make her smile while Sawyer tried to figure out how to comfort her.
