No, I don't have too many characters.
Ash
Her smile faded for a moment when Grace mentioned Ryan and Ash groaned. "But like, I don't know what he wants. He's probably just going to tell him how much he hates me again. Like, not that I blame him..." Ash hesitated, biting her lip a little bit as she looked down at the ground. "And, I mean, what if he like, decides to ask me to Homecoming? Like, I don't even know what I would say." Her many small conversations with Ryder about their feelings and the basic kind of maybe hypothetical promise of willingly being his girlfriend was something Ash hadn't shared with anyone, not even Grace.
She simply hadn't wanted to possibly be judged about it, or for that all to get out, too. After all, if it didn't work out and Ryder ditched her for another girl or something, Ash didn't want anyone knowing that she had had feelings. She wanted to just brush it off, act like it never happened, and try to recover. So yeah, Ryan asking her was one of the things she was worried about. "I'm just so worried that it'll just turn into a fight and then this week will be ruined, too."
Any of the sadness Ash was feeling was replaced by a bright smile again. "Anyway, enough about Ryan. What are you guys do for Homecoming? Like, what is it going to like? I need to know so that my dress doesn't, like, clash or something." Okay, so that was a total joke -- Ash already had a dress picked out, but she wanted some taste of what it was going to be.

Jace
It felt as if Nova always surprised him when Jace was least expecting her to. So when she came up out of nowhere, calling him honey and then kissing him, well... Jace couldn't help but grin. God, he was so glad that they'd managed to repair things. Especially with Homecoming coming up, which he nervously remembered that he still needed to pick a good way to ask Nova. He'd asked Ash for advice, wondering if he needed to even plan a good proposal for a girl that he was already dating. Ash had shrugged, saying that she wouldn't care if she could keep a relationship, but said that Nova seemed like the kind of girl who would want a big thing. Which meant that Jace needed to plan carefully, and he was horrible at doing romantic things.
So he was almost in a constant state of panic trying to decide how he was going to do this. Ash had been no help with the whole good ideas thing -- actually, she'd refused to help Jace after the huge scene he made with Ryder in front of the whole school. But maybe Stu would be able to help him. The little dude seemed like he could be quite the Casanova, if he wanted to... maybe. Anyway, anyway, so when Nova came up, Jace had a million questions running through his head as he returned the kiss then smiled down at her. Could he just ask her simply? No, probably not... "Honey, huh? That's a new one."
He looked her up and down, his smile widening when he realized she was wearing his shirt. "So question, for Homecoming, are you just going to use like, one of my shirts as a dress?" It seemed like Nova was when his clothes more than she was in her own, so it seemed like a fair question, although it was joking, and then he found himself panicking, wondering if she would sass him about not asking her yet or something. So Jace leaned back against the table, crossing his arms over his chest and trying not to look panicked.
