Nova

Well shit... that hadn't gone exactly as Nova had expected. Ian's sudden flight from the cafeteria seemed to happen in a flash, his blonde head blurring as he sprinted from their seats in the back corner. That same wrenching twist grabbed hold of her stomach once more, the brunette physically wincing as she sat there, dumbfounded on what she should do. For a moment, the only thing she could do was stare at the well loved notebook that followed Ian wherever he went. As fast as it had happened, Nova distinctly remembered that familiar move of her boyfriend's hand clutching his shoulder, fingertips digging in as if he wanted to rip off the skin. It was something he did often when under pressure, from the little time they had spent together she had gathered that much, but what it meant... well, was still a mystery.

Wasting no more time, Nova hurriedly gathered Ian's things and made her way out of the cafeteria, darting through classmates and stretching up onto her tiptoes to find out where her boyfriend was exactly going. It was a small flash of yellow hair that peaked her interest as it was quickly shut behind the... the janitor's closet? Seemed well enough to her. Brows knit together, the brunette approached the door quickly, though her tapping footsteps slowed the closer she became. What if Ian wanted to be alone? Well, that didn't seem like a really good idea. All Nova wanted to do was help, all she ever wanted to do was help, but as per example of Ash last semester, sometimes her help wasn't nearly as wanted as she hoped it would be.

Knock, knock.

"Ian?" Her voice was smooth as velvet, sincere and filled with concern.

Two more knocks.

"Ian, please..."

No answer.

With a deep breath, Nova grabbed the handle to the closet and twisted it slowly, cracking the door just enough to slip in. It was dark, but there was a small light that dimly lit the area surrounding them. Ian's hands were practically gnawing at his shoulders, as if a monster was attacking his back and he was desperately trying to free himself. Dropping the bags and pushing them against the corner, the petite brunette girl slotted herself in front of her boyfriend, hands reaching up to cup either side of his face as hazel eyes searched bright greens. "Hey hey, sh sh sh..." Was all that could fall from her lips as she witnessed the almost panic-attack state that Ian was slipping into, one that she didn't know if she would help or hinder.

"I'm here, I'm right here, it's okay, I'm here."

"I am not a goody girl!" Dani gaped, playfully hitting Milos' shoulder with her jaw dropped. It's not that she was some perfect angel, god, she wasn't boring. Dani just preferred to do her drinking in the comfort of her mostly empty home (what with traveling parents). Being out at high school parties, girls in mini skirts doing shots, it was all... a lot. In general this school was a lot. Though she knew her friend was only teasing, it was still something that she may have been a little self conscious about. "And it's not that I'm 'too cool'," Insert the finger air quotes here, "It's just that the cafeteria is filled with cheerleaders screaming about their new lip gloss and fixing each other's hair in mini skirts while guys gawk at their asses." And while it was true, maybe it also had to do with the amount of women in the lunch room in general. She much preferred to eat somewhere else... anywhere else.

Just as she was about to ask about the 'kid that got destroyed', two figures ran out into the hall that was slowly beginning to fill, both booking for the janitor's closet. God, this place was weird... anyway. "Who got destroyed? Was there a fight?" Dani's eyes rolled before leaning back onto her locker, examining the excitement that spread across Milos' face. He loved this sort of gossip, this sort of thing that spread quickly throughout the school and became something of a Soap opera. It was one of the things that made him adorable. In a strictly platonic way.

592135After the bell rang for lunch Vanden made his way to the cafeteria. Other students ran by him, even running into his shoulder trying to be the first ones in line. Vanden used to be the same way but no longer. After his mom passed away he had lost a lot of his competitiveness. Except for football, the only thing he really loved doing. Running across the field with the ball tucked in his arm was more exciting than anything else. So he took his time, there would still be plenty of food available when he got there. As he rounded a corner to an adjoining hallway he saw a girl with a hoody and sunglasses on. She seemed to be sipping from a bottle. One that looks suspiciously similar to the one he and Jaehwa had drank from just last Saturday night. As he got closer she seemed to become more familiar looking, though he couldn't quite place her at this exact moment. Of course, he was out of uniform too. He had lent his Letterman jacket to a girl he had never met before earlier that morning. All Vanden had on now was a simple brick-red t-shirt for his torso. It wasn't really none of his business what she was doing. He started to cross over to the other side of the hallway. Someone behind him yelled his name and he turned to wave and that's when it happened: He had bumped into her. By the time he was turning around to see who he had run into, he found himself tripping over her feet. Vanden attempted to grab her arm to keep from falling but it was no use. He fell anyway.

Ian's hands tightened around his shoulders, vice like grip causing his nails to dig in somewhat. It was then there was a knock on the door and his breath caught in his throat. It was Nova. Of course it was. He should have expected her to follow after the display he had. Another knock. He couldn't find his voice. He felt like he was choking. Was the room getting smaller. She couldn't see him like this, in this sorry state in a janitor's closet. But there was no escape besides the one his girlfriend was standing before.

After a few seconds of silence the door open and the petite brunette slipped in. The room was dimly lit, but everything seemed just a little darker to Ian right now. She knew, it was probably written all over the Evans brother's face. Green eyes filled with a mixture of fear, sadness, and guilt. There was no getting past it now. Her hands cupped his face and he wanted to pull away, try one last time to keep her safe, but he was frozen. All he could do was avoid eye contact for several long quiet moments. Eventually he was able to pull his green gaze to meet hers. An almost inaudible "I'm sorry" slipped from his mouth before he leaned into her, arms wrapping around her. He buried his face into the top of her head. His throat was tight and what few breaths he could take were shaky.

Several more moments were spent just holding each other in silence. Ian was slowly trying to find not only the courage to speak up, but what words to use. Aside from the guilty feeling he had he felt almost safe there wrapped up with Nova, his senses dulled from everything but the brunette's perfume. Finally after what could have been forever he slowly and shakily pulled away. "I...I'm not really okay..." the tiniest of chuckles escaped the teen's lips. "I guess that's pretty fucking obvious." Green eyes dropped to the floor as his fist clenched and unclenched. This was going to be difficult. When the Evans boy looked up again he noticed where exactly those beautiful hazel eyes were focused. Only two other people knew what Ian was about to try and share with Nova; his sister, and his ex, Caroline. He slowly pointed to his shoulder and opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. His head dropped, almost as if ashamed. "I really don't want to bring you into this...it's not something you should have to deal with." Fist went tight again, rehashing the indents in his palm. Eyes began to hurt as he held back tears before they could form. His voice was barely squeaking out into choked rasps with how tight his throat was.

Perhaps it was easier to show Nova, then explain it. Ian raised a finger up to indicate he wanted the brunette to wait. Then, jaw clenched so hard he felt like his teeth would shatter, he carefully, and uncertainly took off his shirt. The first thing that would probably be noticed was that his abdomen still had some discoloration from his run-in with Kanen. The second thing of note was his musculature. He wasn't anywhere near ripped, but being a drummer had it's perks. Finally, moving up to the shoulders, was the reason the two were in this closet. At first glance one might not notice, especially in the current lighting situation, but sure as day on each shoulder was a set of perfectly straight and parallel scars. The kind of patterning that was impossible to be natural or accidental. Some of the marks were clearly old and mostly healed, others were within the past few weeks recent. Ian's body quivered in the slightest. He was laying everything out for her and was terrified. Guilt spread across his face. "These were....they were..." his next few words dropped below a whisper. "...done by me..." Tears finally began to actually well up in his eyes. How could he have possibly put this kind of burden on his girlfriend? Regret swirled in his mind. He should have kept denying there was anything wrong, but what's done is done. Now he had to face the consequences. His gaze slowly rose to meet Nova's, an apologetic sorrow filling the green orbs. txlos txlos

Elise
source.gif

She looked away from Stu as the door opened up and there stood Grace. Of course. Elise narrowed her eyes at the girl for a moment, before her expression softened and she allowed a gentle smile to cross her face. "Of course not, Grace," she said gently, although it was easy to hear the underlying tone of annoyance. There was something about this little brat of a girl that had always gotten under her skin. Elise had never appreciated her friendship with Ash, especially not these days.

"Such a shame to hear about your breakup with that Sawyer girl, but it probably is for the best, isn't it? I'm sure your mother was thrilled." Elise knew that she had been, until she was then made aware of how her daughter had kissed another girl on the ski trip. Both Elise and Steve were incredibly upset with this, and Steve had been even more upset to hear about her breakup with Ryder. For some reason, Steve had adored the violent boy and thought that he was a good influence for Ash, and that he would take care of her. Pitiful. Elise had been pleased to hear about the breakup, and even happier about the Vaughns moving.

"Perhaps you can talk to Ash about how horrible it is dating girls after her breakup with that Vaughn boy." Her gaze flicked to Noah beside Grace, and a wide smile formed on her face. "Especially seeing as how you now appear to be swinging for the right team." And what a good choice Grace had made! Well, unless he had a horrible attitude.

"Wait, is this the boy that came with that Rivera boy?"

Mason
Sexy Beach.gif

He was content to sit back and wait on the couch until Elise let them back in, but of course, Grace and Noah were too interested in the whole situation. Mason rolled his eyes and leaned back against the wall, slouching down with his arms crossed over his chest, and stretched his legs out in front of him, crossing one lazily over the other at the ankle while he listened to the faint whispering between the two eavesdroppers. He wondered what would happen if Elise found out they were listening. Mason had his money on her swallowing them whole because Mason was still convinced that she was some kind of evil monster.

Mason glanced over as the door opened, and was surprised to see Grace was the one to do it, and watched as she stepped. "Damn, Jackson. Grew a set I see." He mumbled to himself before he hopped up and followed the two into the room, listening as Elise said her usually shitty comments. Mason was still lingering back so that Elise couldn't see him, until he heard her ask if Noah had come with that Rivera boy. Anger blossomed in his chest, accompanied with annoyance.

That's what he always was to parents, it seemed. That Rivera boy. That kid they prayed their daughters wouldn't date, and their sons wouldn't hangout with. And yeah, it had started off when people would see his mother walking him to school and see what a disaster she was, but then it was just something that followed him around. His parents were fuck ups, so the world decided he was a fuck up. And Mason fell into that little expectation hard, but he was happy... kind of.

"Yeah, hi." Mason pushed his way into the room. His clothes were now dried with Stu's blood seeing as how, well, he hadn't had a chance to go home. He hoped it made Elise uncomfortable. "Hey Happy Meal, how are you liking those Kit Kats?" If Elise didn't like him, then god damn it, he would make sure to be around Stu as much as possible.

That's what he had done with Adriane, and that had gone well.

Nova
(Trigger Warning in Spoilers)
592157

It took what seemed like hours until Ian's toned arms slowly fell onto Nova's petite figure, her caught breath releasing in a heavy draft from the dam of her lips. It felt as though the weight of the world came with her boyfriend's body leaning onto her, but the small brunette stood her ground and nuzzled her nose into the crook of her boyfriend's neck. He was shaking, only slightly, but enough to be recognized. Whatever was going on, it wasn't something that Nova could just see through. This was serious, this was something that Ian kept to himself, and while his whispered apology fell into thick air, she didn't even know what he was apologizing for. A million possibilities raced like thoroughbreds through the roundabout of her thoughts, but none seemed to reach the finish line. All fell short in her lack of knowledge for Ian, or the impossibilities just given who he was. Nevertheless, Nova stood strong for her boyfriend, tracing his jawline with her index finger and humming mindlessly into his chest.

Though once Ian had the strength to remove himself from the Seattle-native is when her own eyes began to frantically search the boy, as if she could find some hint, some clue. He looked as though he was about to collapse into a fit of tears, his green eyed pooled with uncertainty and pain, agonizing pain that Nova couldn't pinpoint the cause of. It was frustrating, it was infuriating, to see someone as lovely and happy and carefree as Ian in this state.

And then he spoke.

Nova's inhales became shallow as she listened to the few words he offered, paying attention to his way body seemed to twitch beneath the skin, uncomfortable, anxious, wanting to run but trapped in this closet. In what seemed like slow motion, Ian's shirt was peeled from his skin, confusion sweeping over the hazel eyed girl's brow. Though before another thought or hypothesis of this situation could sweep her mind, she saw it.

Nova's breath audibly hitched, cutting into the silence of the room.

Faded pink lines, a checkerboard of scarred skin, littered against Ian's tanned skin like white paint on black paper. Some were more raised than others, crawling along his skin like slugs while others hid themselves in a faded line, unable to see unless you were close. Most seemed to be healed, as much as they could be, while a few were stained brown and black with scabbing skin, shouting the recent pain inflicted by Ian's own hand. The air seemed to become stale once Nova could finally breathe, and without thinking of it, she took a step closer to the blonde, reaching a fingertip out but quickly catching herself. This was something that the brunette had rarely encountered, something that she had heard of but never truly seen up close, and this wasn't just anyone it was Ian for god's sake.

As she looked back to the jade pool of Ian's eyes, it seemed that they mirrored tears to one another, though for very different reasons. Nova tried opening her mouth, tried to say something, anything, and yet, nothing could be forced out. Hazel eyes flicked back to her boyfriend's shoulder before meeting his eyes again, shoulders slumping forward, hands beginning to shake slightly, tears breaking the dam of her eyes to spill down her cheeks. With a tired step, Nova fell forward into Ian's chest, huddling against the warmth of his bare skin and shaking her head a little. No, this wasn't right. This was Ian. Ian was the happy go lucky guy, and sure, he had some struggles with depression, but this was... he didn't deserve this. And perhaps that's why silence invaded her mind, besides one swirling word.

"Why?"

Jace
Looking Away.gif

No, he absolutely did not want to go and see Jace and he was sure that his mother would be there, and Martin. But Sawyer wanted to go, and Jace would've felt horrible if he told her no. Saying that him and Stu were "not on good terms" was the understatement of the century. The two of them couldn't even be in a room together, and after Thanksgiving, and then the ski trip and that video leak... well, Jace doubted that they would ever actually return to being friends. Or even being able to tolerate each other's presences. God, he hoped that their parents didn't get married. The last thing Jace would want was being stuck with him forever.

"Yeah, that's fine." Okay, so it took more for him to say that lie than he wanted to admit. Jace put the car back into reverse, and then continued down the road towards the hospital. The closer they got, the more nervous he got, and the more anxious he felt. His breaths started to become shorter, and he started to flinch at every car that passed them, or came towards them. Every time a car went past, it was like Jace had this flash where he saw exactly how they could die in a fiery car crash, but then the flash was over and the car would be gone and he would be fine, except for his white knuckles clenching the steering wheel.

Sure, this was something that always happened, but it was worse right now. It was always worse in stressful situations, to the point that sometimes he considered that maybe turning the wheel would be easier than facing what was coming up. But Jace pushed through, trying to calm his breathing, as they arrived at the hospital and he found a parking spot. On the way in, they passed by a very horrible looking Nissan. It looked like the car had been through a war.

Once they stepped through the hospital doors, Jace turned towards Sawyer, waiting to see what they were supposed to do next. How was someone even supposed to find Stu?

Milos
Smile.gif

Milos laughed when she smacked him, a playful grin spreading across his face. "Okay, yeah, maybe true, but like... have you seen the cheerleaders in their uniforms? It shows everything, and when they drop something..." He sighed wistfully, and this face turned a bright red. "N-Not that I look anything. Just, uh, what I've heard from others." Milos cleared his throat awkwardly. Okay, so maybe he had sneaked a few peeks, but who hadn't?! It was just too easy and too tempting to not. "Plus it's not like it's just cheerleaders in there. There's like, other people. The other theater kids." They were his favorite, obviously.

"I don't really know what happened. Just heard that Neck Tie got destroyed." Milos explained as he popped open his locker, depositing his failed balloon animals onto one of the shelves. He rose up onto his tippy toes, peering into the very back of his locker before he snatched up a couple jelly beans, popping them into his mouth before turning back to Dani. "No one knows who did it. Spooky, right? What if there's a ghost?" He made a little "ooohh" sound as he wiggled his fingers and, of course, chewed his jelly beans.

Milos couldn't keep a straight face at his joke. "Anyway, I'm bored, Dani." He said, whining as he spoke and scrunched up his nose. "We should do something fun. Like race chairs down the hallway or like... I dunno. Something fun." There was nothing fun to do at high school. There were no more toys, nothing. That's why people made babies instead.

Ash
Mess.gif

She leaned against her locker door, closing her eyes for a moment and just holding the bottle close to her, her fingers pressing tightly against the cool glass. Ash didn't really notice anyone else in the hall, but her eyes opened up when she heard someone yelling something. She quickly placed the vodka back into her locker and then peeked around the door to see what was going on -- and maybe to yell at the person for making her day and her headache so much worse -- when she came face to face with a guy.

A guy who, apparently, forgot how to stand as he stumbled into her and then tripped, grabbing for her hand as he started to fall. Ash didn't have long enough to see who it was but, startled, she tried to grab his hand to stop him from falling... which was a horrible idea. She was already groggy from the hangover, and with the added vodka, Ash probably wouldn't have been able to walk in a straight line or manage standing straight by herself, let alone when being knocked into.

So yeah, she fell, too, but managed to land roughly next to him... on her face. Well, her front, but luckily her face didn't slam into the ground or anything, although her sunglasses did clatter to the ground. She groaned, sitting up slowly and grabbing her sunglasses before she looked at the guy when recognition washed over her. "Vanden? What are you doing?" Ash asked as she slipped the sunglasses back on, thankful for being able to hide from the light. Of course she knew Vanden -- he was a football player, she was a cheerleader. It only made sense to know one another. "Why the hell were you so close to my locker?" Normally, Ash wouldn't have reacted so negatively, but she was already having a bad... well a bad year, and this was just the cherry on top.

Mads nodded in acknowledgement understanding that the school didn't bring the food trucks in, but the food trucks just happened to be near by and an option for the students. He looked over at his friends at the table still eating and chatting away, he didn't always feel like he fit in with their crowd. Granted he was easy enough to get along with, just because he would talk to anyone and everyone without a problem. But he didn't really think that talking about the past weeks conquests was any fun. Talking about games, and strategies, that he was able to talk about.

He pulled out his phone when she brought up Twitter again,
"Super simple, just download the app. You can follow me and for the most part you can stay up to date with everyone." He opened the app on his phone. "This is my handle." He turned the phone towards her, pointing with his thumb at his name. "MadsHatter." He smiled as he heard the belle ring meaning the end to lunch. "Follow me on Twitter, maybe I'll see you around?" Mads readjusted his backpack and made his way towards the door for class.

Milos didn't stay long after Grace left, and Graham was feeling down about failing to cheer Grace up. Why did they legitimately suck at even talking. They were theater kids, they were great at improv, but talking to people. Graham needed some work on that. Maybe that was something he could practice, just like he practiced lines. Okay that just sounded stupid, no one else needed lessons on how to act normal around others. But then again Graham wasn't normal, he was a male cheerleader most people just didn't get that.

Graham was quickly drawn from his thoughts when a certain blonde appeared beside him. Paisley might just be able to make this day better. Granted, he was the one trying to make Grace's day better and he failed so badly. He didn't deserve to have a better day. Relaxing when she brought her chin to his shoulder.
"Hey." Graham responded quietly. "How was break?" He gently rested his head on hers when she gave him a mini hug before turning back to her lunch.

"I'm not that much better at biology than you." He smirked, okay he knew that bio came way easier to him than it did to Paisley. But he would absolutely be there to help her out in anyway he could. Watching her as she tucked a piece of his hair back into place, "Hey! Maybe I wanted it there." He chuckled, running a hand back through his hair. "I hope our spring play goes better than Grease did." Graham rolled his eyes. "Having Nona involved was the worst." Nona put the worst students in the best parts, half of them didn't even like to sing or dance.

Paisley
tumblr_pmbkcqgpzk1rlm4kio4_400.gif

Graham was the definition of adorable, and one of Paisley's absolute best friends. Something about being around him was intoxicating in the best way, and she wouldn't trade the awkward brunette for the world. "Break was alright," The blonde sighed, taking a bite of sliced pear and shrugging her shoulders. It wasn't great but hey, at least she hadn't been on that disaster of a ski trip. "Liza took me down to LA to meet with an agent, she was really nice. But I actually missed Westbrook, it's like... crazy down there," A smile peeled it's way onto Paisley's face as she scooted closer to Graham, tossing her legs over his lap so she could face the boy head on. "Mainly I missed you! I'm sorry we couldn't do any of the stuff we planned, she just kinda sprung this on me." Liza was always springing these trips onto her niece, and while the blonde was appreciative of the support, sometimes she just wanted to hang out with Graham, go to a movie, hang out in the backyard, y'know, be kids.

"No more Nona in the productions. That hag isn't going to take away the play from us this year. If we don't get the leads I'll be appalled," Paisley rolled her big blue eyes with a sassy hair flick, shaking her head and taking a sip of aloe water. Her and her best friend were far too talented to not get the leads in these productions, they put in more work than anyone else and even spent extra time helping the set designers, prop makers, everyone! Ugh, the theater kids were the only ones ever excited about the productions, so why should people who didn't even want to be in it have a say? It made no sense to Paisley. "Also hey, if you wanna come over after school I was thinking of looking through new productions to offer to Nona? I really wanna do Heathers, or maybe Hadestown, but I just don't know." Excitement rang in her tone before feeding a pear to Graham, giving him a wide smile. Any passerby would think they were dating, two young kids in love, but no. That was just Graham and Paisley.

Ian stood there shirtless, green eyes not daring to leave their spot on the ground. This was why he only ever used on strap on his backpack, this was what he hid behind his smiles and carefree attitude, this was why he was always striving to make others happy, this was who Ian really was. Nova moved a step closer and if he could, he would have backed up. He was ashamed- not because of his actions, but because now his girlfriend had one more thing to worry about. Again waves of regret crashed on the shore of his mind. She knew something so incredibly personal about him, so deeply sorrowful and this knowledge could not be taken back. She now had to live with this burden named Ian just as much as the boy had to live with the scars.

As the moments passed Ian's posture stiffened more and more. They had passed the point of no return and now had to move forward, and Ian was unsure how. It wasn't even really up to him, what happened next was up to Nova. Would she continue to stand by him, or would she too abandon him? He could feel his shoulders grow hot and begin to crawl. He wanted to claw at it, but he resisted, after all that was his normal response to stress. Silently the brunette fell into him, tears streaming down her face. Her tears hurt worse than any single one of the marks on his shoulders, especially because she was crying because of him. He did that to her and in the darkest corners of his mind an urge to add to the tally rose. At the same time that would then cause her more pain, which he certainly didn't want. So there Ian stood, caught in a catch-22, girlfriend crying into his bare chest.

One singular word is all the managed to escape the brunette's mouth; why. That was quite possibly the hardest question Ian had ever have to answer. "That's not....easy to explain. At some point it almost became...a habit. When things get to be too much..." he trailed off. His voice was hoarse and tears were welled in his green eyes but miraculously none fell. "It started a couple years ago, after something happened that I'm not really comfortable talking about yet." he desperately hoped she would somehow understand this mess that was his brain. "Please..." he choked again, his tone pleading. "Please just don't run. I care about you, and don't want to lose you." he gently leaned his head down and kissed the top of Nova's head. He sighed and began to think he might be asking too much. "I'm sorry you have to carry this weight too. I never intended for you to find out and be forced to...But I understand if..." despite his best efforts Ian was unable to finish his words. Whether is was because he couldn't or wouldn't was unclear to him. With a hard gulp and a deep shuddering sigh he forced himself to spit it out. "..If you want to leave."

Woah. It'd... been a bit. Shiloh still looked the same. She didn't know what she expected, it's only been a few months. But Raven never thought she'd see him again. Or maybe she did, but she figured that being in ten years time or something. Shiloh had his whole plan or something. Didn't he?

So what was he doing back?

"Hey, cowboy. Long time no see." She grinned and her light gaze fell onto his hat. Many, many things had happened since Shiloh left. And yes, Raven still felt bad about using him during the whole June fiasco. Yet another person who'd left. Wonder what happened to her? "You look good." That was no doubt. The cowboy was always a sight to see, but she wasn't ready to rope but back into all of that mess. "I don't mean that in a flirty way." As if she truly knew any other way.

"What are you doing here? WestBrook, I mean. Not the bookstore. Don't get all smart with me." Throwing the brunette a playful grin. No matter how awkward or weird it could be with someone. Raven was great with people, despite how nervous she would be, what her past was with the person. She never lost her cool.

Raven was... well, Raven.

And yes, that included weird-non-exes.

The janitor's closet seemed to be closing in on them, Nova's breath running jagged as she continued to heave into her boyfriend's chest. A headache began to swirl around her temples, biting at her brain while her fingertips lightly searched for a grip somewhere on Ian's bare chest. He was warm, and even though the brunette could swear she was burning up, it was comforting. His heartbeat was comforting, his pulse against her skin was comforting, it was all just signs that no matter what he was hear, and he cared, and he was actively holding onto her when it felt like the world was trying to rip Nova from where she stood. His words were muffled as they came, muffled by Nova's gasps and his own unsteady voice. Ian sounded as if he could pass out at any minute, though the small girl was almost certain that she was in the same boat. Her head felt light, her feet felt heavy, though one thing seemed to bring her pulsing back to reality.

Gentle lips pressed into her scalp, the words spoken before now lingering in Nova's ears.

Running.

The action hadn't even come to the girl's mind. In fact, it was far from what she wanted to do. Ian had had the guts to share something so deep, so personal with her, and he actually thought that Nova packing up and leaving was a possibility? It changed her entire demeanor, her body standing a bit more on it's own but still relying on her boyfriend's arms to hold her, stepping closer to him to press their bodies closer together. It was comforting, and almost needed... but most of all, it solidified her next statement.

"You can't get rid of me that easy, Evans."

The words came quietly with a brush of her lips against his collarbone, arms snaking around his midsection to hug him close. Nova nuzzled her cheek against his chest in a slow lull, almost purring as she did so. None of this changed Ian, none of this made her see him any differently, and if anything she was glad that he had shared this with her. It was something that Nova needed to know, and now that she did, well... she just did. This was just another part of who Ian was, and she would love him and help him just the same. "I'm not going anywhere, I'm not running. Not because of this."

Noah

“Oh. Right, yeah.” Grace Jackson, how could he forget about her? He really hoped that he hadn’t made the situation between him and Grace awkward. He didn’t know Grace well at all so he couldn’t tell how she felt about him right now, but it was obvious that that didn’t matter to the blonde girl, and with every right.

When Grace opened the door, Noah was surprised to say the least. Grace had some balls to just rush in like that, especially if she knew who Stu’s ‘mom’ was. Noah knew that he wouldn’t have the balls to rush in the way that she did, if he was the one closer to the door.

He poked his head through the doorframe, only so he could see the situation happening.

He was very, and I mean very surprised to hear that Grace was Sawyer’s girlfriend. And that they broke up. Noah just now realized how cut off from Westbrook he really had been. Thankfully, he didn’t mention his friendship with Sawyer, or anything else about Sawyer to Grace, because that would have been a whole event right there.

For the best? Thrilled? Noah couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Poor Grace. Her mother was probably homophobic, and Elise certainly was. It wasn’t how she spoke of gay people, but the tone she spoke in. It disgusted Noah that these kinds of people still existed. It’s the 21st century for Christ’s sake. Wake up from your little dream world and realize that there are people who are different than you but are still human and are worth the same as you.

The right team? THE RIGHT TEAM??? Noah wanted to punch Elise in the face so much right now, but that wouldn’t make a single difference for her. It would be painful for a couple of days and that would be it. It would only do Noah a lot more than it did to Elise, because she seemed like the kind of person to press charges.

Noah was now more noticeable, almost entering the room, steadily behind Grace. He didn’t notice he was completely in the room, until Elise mentioned him, and then later, Mason. He didn’t see why people saw Mason as a bad person. He really wasn’t one, and you just needed a little bit of time to adjust to his personality, but after that, you could clearly see how good of a person Mason really was. He was kind, and a very good friend, to Noah at least.

Noah remembered the first time he had met Mason. He was just a freshman, and Mason was a sophomore. Noah and Ashley came to sit at the ‘cool kid’ table in the cafeteria for their first time ever, and Mason was, of course, sitting there already. He seemed really mean at first, but Noah didn’t stop pushing to become Mason’s friend. He wanted to become Mason’s friend, because he hoped that under all of that mean attitude, there was a real person, a good person inside. Noah was good at guessing things like that, and he was right about Mason. Ever sense then, the two usually hung out. Well, it wasn’t so hanging out, as it was Noah agitating Mason and Mason trying to snap Noah in half.

He was brought back to reality with Mason entering the room. He said something to Stu about Happy Meals, and Kit Kats, or at least that was what Noah heard. He wasn’t completely himself yet, still trying to realize what was happening.

Noah could easily snap himself to one of his joyous memories, and when he was snapped back to reality, he was usually dumbfounded, much like right now. He only hoped Elise wouldn’t say anything else homophobic, because she really was pushing on his last nerves.

Neck Tie

PjbN0oT.gif

The door suddenly opened, and Neck Tie was praying it was his dad. He never expected it to be Grace.

When she looked his way, he sat up a little in his bed as smartly and as handsomely as he could, patted down the wrinkled shoulders of his hospital gown, trying to look a bit more gentleman-like. Then he passed her a small smile.

He felt kind of guilty that she had to come all the way from school to see him. Then again, he'd let Aaron slam his head in anyday if it meant getting a visit from Grace.

As he was looking back at Grace, the boy grew ever conscious about the state of his appearance. He hadn't even seen his own face in the mirror. Was he at least... presentable?

Surprise, surprise. Elise and Grace seemed to already know each other. Was there any of his friends Elise didn't know? Not only that, she apparently knew a lot more than he did, saying how Grace had broken up with Sawyer. Neck Tie's eyes fell glumly. He didn't know how to react to that news because he was never on good terms with Sawyer, and she was quite aggressive toward him. But he knew how much she meant to Grace.

Wait, was that why she kissed him?

Did... did Grace finally decide she wasn't gay anymore?

Now Elise was saying a lot of things to Grace. He wasn't sure how to interpret her tone. One moment she was smiling and speaking in a soothing voice, the other she said some things that might have been received as kind of rude. He didn't understand much of what she was saying anyway. His head was spinning and hurting again.

Enter Noah, and also Mason, and suddenly the room was starting to feel a little crowded. And his Dad wasn't even there yet. What was taking him so long?

Everything was happening all at once Neck Tie wasn't sure where to rest his eyes. Noah looked as clueless as he did. Mason, covered in blood, decided now was the time to ask about the KitKats.

He felt embarrassed, so he stayed quiet. Truth is, Neck Tie didn't care much for his favourite chocolate treats right now, as much as he was usually obsessed with them. He felt kind of guilty sitting there next to a mound of KitKats when there were so many people there gathering around him. And Grace. It made him look kind of childish in front of her. So he tried to sweep them away under the bed sheets. Hopefully he hadn't been paying that close an attention.

Sawyer

The second they stepped foot in the hospital, Sawyer found herself regretting her decision almost instantly. Sawyer hated hospitals with a passion. Everything about them made her stomach wrench and almost made her want to throw up. The ever present smell of bleach and the sickeningly white interior made her head spin. She'd never really had a reason to hate hospitals and maybe it was just because her dad did. Every time Oliver Andrews stepped foot inside a hospital, he practically had a mental breakdown. Sawyer knew that was because of the whole ordeal with her mother and she couldn't blame him. Maybe his distaste had rubbed off on her somehow. After all, she didn't remember the day her mother died. Sawyer had only been a baby and her dad had always said that was the worst part.

"I was crying, and you're aunt was crying, and I was holding you and I just remember looking at you and you just smiled at me. The happiest baby in the world. But you had no clue what was going on."

Sawyer shook her head and straightened her shoulders. She had a Neck Tie to check on after all. There wasn't any reason to be caught up in reminiscing right now. With a few strides, Sawyer sauntered up to the front desk and caught the nurses a attention. The nurse looked at her quizzically and then shifted her gaze to Jace fidgeting behind her. Sawyer offered the nurse a dazzling half-smile as she leaned against the desk and forwards toward her.

"Hi, we're looking for a pretty beat up blonde boy. Stu's his first name, don't think I've ever caught his last. Ring a bell?" The nurse simply nodded and chuckled a little under her breath as she gave Sawyer the room number.

"We had another girl come in here earlier without a last name. She was a lot more frantic than you though." The nurse explained away her quick understanding of which Sawyer was looking for. Sawyer just laughed, not really paying attention to the whole girl part. She just assumed it was someone else. So with room number in hand, Sawyer beckoned Jace to follow and took off down the hospital corridors. They would be in and out of here in no time. All she wanted was a name. But when they got to the room it became clear to Sawyer that that might not be the case. She could see Grace's blonde head entering the room and Noah behind her. Yes, Noah. So that had been who she thought had almost ran over her this morning. Noah was back. Sawyee found herself pausing and glancing back at Jace hesitantly.

"On second thought, maybe this wasn't such a good idea."

Jace
Looking Away.gif

Of course he'd been thinking that this whole time, but now they were here, and Stu's room was just a few mere feet away. He had caught sight of Grace stepping into the room, and Jace paused, glancing over at Sawyer. It was obvious that she wasn't up for this, for facing her ex, and who wouldn't be? Jace could barely even stand to text Nova back without feeling sick to his stomach and weak in his hands. So of course she'd be nervous and want to turn back, thinking this was a bad idea.

"No, we should go. B-but, we... we w-won't stay long." He struggled to speak, his thoughts wrapped up in what would happen in that hospital room and now, he nervously twisted his hands together. Jace glanced down at Sawyer, forcing a weak smile onto his face. "I-I'll be there f-for you. It won't... it won't be that bad." Just check on Stu, thumbs up everyone, and moon walk out. Yep. That would be the easy way to do everything. The two of them could surely manage this, right?

With a deep breath, Jace stepped forward and walked towards the hospital room, stepping in and awkwardly glancing around. The tension in the room was strong, so he hung back, scooting to the side with his head hung low.

❦Valerie❦
Valerie had her phone comfortably situated in her backpack without a care in the world. This was gonna be her experience and hers alone. She was going to figure out how to survive here without June steering her around like a car. Valerie knew she could do this. But...

She didn’t have enough guts to go to the front desk to tell them that her schedule doesn’t have any room numbers when they clearly should. And she found herself to be too intimated to ask anyone else. They seem tough and mean without her doing anything to provoke them. So, she walked aimlessly around, stopping by her locker then going around again until she looked at the time. She felt her heart leap as she was running out of time. She had no choice. She had to seek someone out. She always found that she gravitated to asking pretty girls for help and, it would make sense since all she’s been around was girls even on sets. All she knew how to do was talk to girls and she felt comfortable doing it. She looked around and felt her hand stretch out before she fully comprehended what she was doing. She tapped the girls shoulder and immediately pointed to her schedule. “Hi, so there’s absolutely no room numbers on my schedule so I was just wondering if you know where any of these classrooms are... please.” She paused before smiling at her.

Grace offered a smile to Stu, before returning her gaze to Elise, she stiffened when she’d reminded her about the breakup with Sawyer and her smile instantly faded. And bringing up her mother? Yeah, Kate might’ve not liked Sawyer, or... her sexuality. But that was none of Elise’s business. Grace clenched her fists together once again, hard enough so this time she actually felt the nails digging into her skin. She decided not to say anything about the breakup comment. If you don’t have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Elise was pushing on her nerves. And Grace wasn’t interested in Elise’s opinions today of all days.

Then she mentioned Ash.

Great.

Grace had seen the photo, it wasn’t... that big of a deal. Ash was probably drunk and made a few mistakes. Raven was... Grace didn’t know Raven well enough, but it’s enough to understand the rumors that go around school. The journalist gets around a lot too. Those are just rumors, she shouldn’t believe them and judge them on a person. If anyone did that to her, they’d think she was straight and pregnant.

She opened her mouth to reply, Ash was her own woman. Grace had nothing to do with her choices, that became clear with their relationship problems. But her own mother shouldn’t feel the need to talk her down. But Elise continued further before she could speak.

The right team.

Grace let a breath through her nose audibly and her gaze had turned into a glare. “I hardly think a hospital is such a place to discuss my sexuality, not that it’s any of your business in the first place.” She’s not even sure where she got the patience from.

Grace glanced towards the two boys and nodded slightly.

“This is Mason, and that’s Noah. They helped bring Stu to the hospital. At least they actually—“ the words in her mouth came to a stop involuntarily when Sawyer had walked into the room.

The last person she ever expected to see anywhere but school and here she was.

Just... great.

Grace turned her head away from Sawyer and made her way to the hospital bed, giving them as much space as she could in this crowded room. She rose an eyebrow at Stu. “How are you feeling?” Grace said softly towards him. She then glanced at Jace and back to Elise for a split second.

“Hey, look, Jace’s here. You remember him right?” Grace asked Elise with her sweet smile almost plastered onto her face.

So, maybe Sawyer being here had heightened feelings... mostly the bad ones.

Beau
Beau.gif

Bright pink, sparkly sunglasses, a huge pink sparkly bow in her hair, and a "I Love Maine" shirt with an equally pink, sparkly jacket pulled on over, Beau made her way through the hospital with a bright smile on her face. She'd ditched everyone else, eager to head into the room and see Stu after all of this time of not seeing him.

Beau finally came across his room, and boy, did she make her presence known. "Hello, fellow Americans!" She said, trying her best to kill her obvious British accent with a little snort of laughter as she stepped in, pushing past a blonde girl in a beanie and then farther into the room, past the very hot older boys. Rawr. If this was what Westbrook had to offer, then her visit was going to be a hundred times better than she had originally expected it to. This was so great!

"Stu!" She squealed, clapping her hands together and bouncing in the air on her bright pink sneakers before she bounced towards him, roughly sitting on the bed beside him. "Oh my gosh, look at how cute you are!" Beau giggled and reached forward, pinching his cheek. The less bruised one, and then she leaned forward, pulling him into a tight hug.

"OMG. Guys, guys." Beau let go of Stu and turned back around quickly, her ponytail smacking poor Stu in the face as she did. "This is just like that time he got in a fight with a whole flock of sheep." She said with a laugh, bouncing on the bed for a moment before she hopped back up to her feet. "He thought it would be funny to make fun of the one sheep or something, and they all chased him and then he... he..." Beau could barely stop her laughter. "He tried to climb a tree to escape, but he fell and hit his head and had to get like thirty stitches. It was hilarious." She said, giggling as she did before her attention finally turned to the others in the room.

And wow. "Stu, why didn't you tell me that you had so many hot guy friends?" Beau asked, looking back at him with her nose wrinkled up before she turned back to the boys. She was across the room in seconds, first looking at Mason before she decided that look of murder wasn't something she particularly liked, and then she was at Noah's side.

"Hi, handsome. I'm in town for a while. Do you wanna go get an American coffee with me?" She had watched a couple chick flicks on the flight over, and they always went to get coffee. "Come on, it's so crowded in here." By now, Beau had practically attached herself to Noah's side. Arms wrapped tightly around his arm, pressed against his side, her eyes practically exploding with hearts as she looked up at him, trying to bat her eyelashes in an attractive way. "By the way, I'm Beau. Your next girlfriend."

Argentina
592378
As Argentina walked through the halls of Westbrook High, looking around the school and looking for her next class, she couldn’t believe how lonely she felt. In her old school, she was always, and I mean always surrounded by a group of people. She was quite popular, so some of the people around her were her friends, some of them were her acquaintances and some of them were completely unknown to Argentina. Right now, she was not surrounded by anybody, and she didn’t know if it felt good or bad, it just felt lonely.

She didn’t mind if she was walking home alone or going anywhere alone as long as she wasn’t somewhere school related. She didn’t remember the last time she was alone in school. It was like a rule for her to be with at least one person when she was in school or around school, so this, this feeling of loneliness in a school hallway was a whole new feeling for her.

To avoid this feeling, Argentina rushed, or more realistic, casually walked to the girl’s bathroom in one of the hallways. Right when she entered, Argentina knew she wasn’t alone in the bathroom, and maybe that didn’t have to be such a bad thing after all. If Argentina played her cards right, she could have a new friend after the end of this bathroom trip.

The girl had a chill, possibly indie vibe to her. Argentina didn’t know how to describe it exactly. The girl was definitely cute. Not in the romantic kind of way, but in a pleasing-for-the-eyes kind of way. The two girls stood at around the same height.

Argentina sat her little backpack thingy next to the sink area. She looked at her makeup, and it was spot on, as always. She smiled at herself, but removed the smile before the other girl noticed, simply because it probably seemed very egoistic and stupid.

Argentina didn’t wait long before starting a conversation with the redhaired girl in the bathroom.

“Hi, do you have a pad by chance?” Argentina didn’t really need one, but knowing girls, and knowing high school, this was the easiest, least awkward way of starting a conversation. Asking a girl for a pad or a tampon is always a sure was of making a quick friend, and Argentina clearly knew that.

sebastian
Location: School cafeteria
Interacting with: Juliette ( Soap Soap )

Sebastian pretended not to notice the girl staring at him, his eyes glancing at random places in his textbook and his smartphone. It wasn’t like the way she was somewhat scrutinizing him for a while was making him slightly uncomfortable…

“I’ve only been here for a month,” he said. Basketball tryouts were usually around early-autumn, shortly before the game season would begin, and long before Sebastian would’ve moved to Westbrook. If he had been the same person from a few years ago, he might’ve considered joining the team, maybe try to convince the coach to let him in if he missed the deadline.

But not now. He lost interest a long time ago. He didn’t want that kind of stress in his life anymore. Even watching a game on TV had lost its appeal to him, though he would try out of boredom. Maybe he just wasn’t competitive enough. He’d seen a lot of people, often sports fans, use their extreme competitiveness as a cheap excuse to act like assholes, sore losers or sore winners, often ruining the fun out of the game or anything else.

“I choose neither,” Sebastian answered her question. “I’d rather find something else to do, like tossing paper balls instead. Or eat a delicious muffin—” he indicated the half-eaten golden brown blueberry-oatmeal muffin lying on a napkin, between him and his geometry textbook. “—and get more at home later.”

Speaking of home, Sebastian heard his phone ding a new message from Lucia.

Auntie Cop: Will get home a little late. Need to finish extra paperwork tonight. Have dinner w/o me. Don’t eat all the muffins!
Sebastian: i'll try :p

Slowly turning away from the girl while reading and then replying the text, he tugged a slight frown. “A little late” meant his aunt would most likely be home around 11 p.m. or midnight. Sebastian had hoped she would be home when his shift ended and teach him how to make a new dish for tonight’s dinner.

Well, at least he could try taking advantage of his employee discount for the first time. The Sleeping Hedgehog Cafe, his workplace, closed at 8:30 p.m., so he had enough time to eat there for a while and go home to finish the rest of his school assignments on time...ish.

Noah
592398
Looking at Stu, Noah felt really bad, mostly because of Elise, but also because of what he looked like on that bed. Stu reminded Noah of his hedgehog Barry, who has the same face when there is a thunder storm outside, and it’s very noisy and loud.

Stu’s appearance definitely changed after being with Elise in a room alone. His appearance was so much more different from just ten minutes ago when the two were playing chess and laughing about some stupid nerdy joke Noah said. It hurt Noah inside to see anyone like that.

Noah noticed another boy appearing next to him, but quickly scooting over to the side of the room. Noah wanted to introduce himself, but this really wasn’t the time, like at all. The tension in the room was so high you could cut it with a knife, so introductories were a big no-no at the moment.

Grace went off. Not completely, but she was close to it. She said some things, and Noah wanted to say ‘snap’ so badly, probably more than in his entire life, but the things came to a sudden halt, and it was obvious why.

Soon enough, a girl followed, and for a change, he knew this person. He knew her well. However, he couldn’t believe how much she had changed. His girl, Sawyer, looked a lot more mature than he remembered her to be. It could have just been his bad memory, but it probably wasn’t just that. Maybe a mixture of his fucked-up memory and an actual difference in Sawyer.

Sawyer and Grace were supposedly a thing. A thing Noah had known nothing about, but that didn’t matter. The only thing that mattered was that the tension grew higher when Sawyer walked into the room, which was barely possible, but how could it not grow. They were ex’s, and they were in the same room together. Shit was bound to happen.

The thing that happened next probably surprised everybody in the room, but it almost made Noah laugh. A girl with British energy bursting out of every pore on her skin entered the room. It was almost funny how low the chances of this girl entering this exact room were. Noah smiled, barely holding in the giggles. He found this whole situation absurd and absolutely hilarious.

A boy is almost beaten to death, and then his vixen of a stepmother entered his hospital room, almost 3 hours later. Not long after, another girl stumbles upon the quartet, and decides to confront the stepmother. The girl’s ex enters the room with her friend, and then lastly, a British Barbie doll enters the room and starts hugging the boy almost beaten to death. Noah had seen Spanish telenovelas with less dramatic scenes.

It was obvious that Stu was embarrassed, and with every right to be. The already small hospital room just kept filling up with more and more different people, some of which Noah knew and most of which Noah didn’t even recognize.

Noah looked at Stu when the British Barbie started hugging him and attaching herself onto him. A huge smile covered his face.

An American Coffee??

Noah was dying. He wanted to throw himself onto the floor and just laugh.

“I’m sorry, beautiful, but I’m taken. Maybe somebody else is interested?” Noah looked at the girl, before looking around the room with a smile still covering his face, and showing his shining, white teeth. He mostly looked at Mason and Jace. Noah being taken was a fat lie, but he didn’t want to tell her he was gay and since girls were ew, so he had to think of a clever little lie.

His eyes went wide at the mention of LA. "LA huh? Going to make it big before the rest of us." He smirked knocking his shoulder into hers. "How'd that go?" Graham was genuinely interested in his friends success, even if her aunt could be a pita. Graham knew how pushy Liza could be, but Liza was just trying to be supportive in her own way.. Right?

Graham instinctively dropped a hand to Paisley's knee, it was just natural to him to be so close to her. The two of them had gotten along from day one, they just sort of melded together. Summer productions, music class, they had been through it all together. Their teachers either loved them together, or hated them together. Okay, to be honest, the teachers that actually enjoyed them together were the theater and music teachers. Their chemistry on set always brought the crowd to their feet, day to day teachers however dreaded having the two of them in class. Paisley and Graham would feed off each other too well, and usually end up distracting the whole class from the topics at hand.

"Don't worry about it." He furrowed his eyebrows together, yea he had missed her but this was such an amazing opportunity she shouldn't of had to pass it up. "That was an awesome opportunity, you couldn't have passed it up." He moved his face closer to hers, resting an arm on the back of her chair to support himself. "If you had, I wouldn't ever talk to you again." He chuckled leaning back against his own seat.

Graham started to laugh obnoxiously hard when Paisley called Nona a hag, she really was the worst principal he had ever had. How she even got the job was concerning.
"No chance in hell can we let that kind of shit show happen again." The play had been the worst in Westbrook history, Graham could attest to that, he had been to every single Westbrook production as long as he could remember. "Sounds like a party." Graham smirked as she fed him a pear. He was so oblivious to the fact that not most best friends were like this, basically sitting in each others laps. This was how people in relationships would act, not friends, not even best friends.

Maisie
tumblr_inline_ojotjeYg7A1ravrtw_1280.gif

She didn't have fun on the ski trip. Did anyone have fun there? She doubted it. Well, maybe Drake did. He had his drugs... and Belle. The thought made her sigh audibly, leaning her chin with her free hand. Balancing her elbow on the table. At least she had Aaron. They... spent some time together, and he was... pretty cool. She felt like she had someone she could connect with. They both had similar...

Lifestyles?

Experiences.

Yeah, that'll work. Experiences.

Maisie was doodling something before she decided to put it up somewhere. Paper showed her how'd it look before she'd plaster it on a wall, just in-case if she hated it. At least she could see how it looked before hand. The only thing Maisie wasn't insecure about was her drawings. Huh. Aaron and... even Drake didn't even know. This was kinda like her own thing. And Maisie wasn't sure she wanted to share it yet.

Perfectly content on staying alone, that was until Drake out of all people came over with Aaron and Casper as if nothing had happened.

Of course.

She looked up towards Drake, but not before her gaze fell onto Aaron's hands. Bruised? Maisie furrowed her brows giving him a curious look before turning back towards Drake. Oh. Of course it was about Belle, she wasn't very surprised-- Moving into together? "You what? You... moved in with her? You've been dating her for like a week." This wasn't her hate towards Belle. Even though she didn't have any, like, at all. She didn't know Belle well enough to hate her.

"Whatever." If they wanted to... live with Belle, which was so freaking weird in her opinion. Let them do whatever they want. It wasn't like Maisie had a say so in anything Drake did.

Maisie couldn't help but get distracted by Casper's... weirdness.

"So... does that mean you're back on your meds? And I mean actual medication. Not like... weed or whatever." She lowered her voice towards the end of her sentence. Especially their history with weed in the school, they did not need to be talking about it right now.

Deborah

IWVwWFm.gif

Deborah was a less pink, less sparkly, less glittery version of her daughter Beau.

In all other respects, however, they were identical. They were equally blonde, equally coffee-loving, and equally obnoxious, equally unseasonable (they were dressed for summer). . . well, you get the point.

The dashing duo even donned the same “I love Maine” shirt. No, not the exact same shirt, dummy. That would be mathematically impossible, kind of like dividing by zero, although back home the two were known to share their wardrobe. In fact, everything was shared in the Bisley family, shirts, skirts, socks, toothbrushes, even. . . Well, almost everything.

Anyway, both their T-shirts declared their love for the American north-eastern seaboard. They loved it even more than the Pilgrims who settled Massachusetts Bay all those years ago. They bought their shirts off a tourist booth in the airport terminal just two hours ago, after haggling for a one-dollar discount, and pulled them over their heads straight off the rack.

The T-shirts weren’t the only things they bought. Back in the car trunk were endless bags of duty free articles -- perfumes, face creams, eyeliners -- if you could name it, they’d probably bought it.

Debbie bit a huge chunk off the ice pop she was eating. Nom nom nom. It melted down her chin and she was dripping grape juice on the white hospital floor.

She wasn’t expecting the room to be filled with visitors. Who knew Little Stewie was such a popular boy?

‘Gosh, what a small room!’ she said. ‘Are the windows open? It’s hot in here, isn’t it? And kind of smelly?’ She looked over at the older kids. ‘You teenage boys, do you ever wash your socks?!’

She laughed hysterically, then took another frozen bite of the ice pop, attacking it sideways like a corn cob.

‘Oh Beau, the gift!’ she slurped. ‘Don’t forget Stewie’s gift!!’ But Beau was already busy squeezing a handsome boy to death, so guess she had to do it herself. Debbie pulled a wrapped present from one of her bags and wedged her way toward the boy on the bed. She shook the woman's hand as she passed her. 'Hi. . . I'm Deborah.'

Now onto Stu: ‘Oh, you poor little thing,’ she squeezed his chin affectionately. ‘Look what they did to you. I know what will make it all better.’

She plopped the present down on his lap.

‘Go on, Stewie, open it!’ she said encouragingly, sucking on the ice pop while she waited.

Neck Tie

P4nmrq4.gif

Neck Tie had no idea what just happened.

First there was only Elise. Then Grace came in. She asked how he felt. His face turned red. He wasn’t bleeding or anything, he was just blushing because Grace was talking to him.

Then Noah returned. Followed by Mason. Followed by Jace and Sawyer. Oh God, did Jace have to be here, too? What was Sawyer even doing here?

And then Bow Bow came prancing through the door, and he was sure this was all a dream. A bad, bad, bad dream.

Where did all these people come from? Did they all step into a magical wardrobe? Who was visiting him next? A lion Jesus named Aslan?

Before he knew it, he was being cuddled and smothered against his will. Bow Bow smelt like a perfume shop. She pinched his cheek and OW that actually hurt. Before he knew it, she was telling everyone the embarrassing story of that one time he was chased by a fluffy monster down Sheep Street.

What? No! It wasn’t. . . it wasn’t a flock of sheep. It was just one sheep! He didn’t climb a tree. . . just a short hedge! He didn’t get thirty stitches. . . just three!

Neck Tie didn’t even get a chance to correct her, though. Bow Bow was already hopping away like an over-excited rabbit.

So Elise and Grace were having some kind of stare down. Bow Bow was leaping onto Noah for some reason. Mason was covered in blood. Jace and Sawyer stood awkwardly like they didn’t belong here.

Suddenly, Neck Tie felt like the most normal kid in the room.

The world was surely coming to an end.

Enter Deborah.

His heart was thumping against his chest as the blonde woman zig-zagged her way toward him. She put a wrapped present on his lap. Oh no. The boy gave the box a cautious shake, heard its moving parts, then reluctantly peeled away at the colourful wrap.

Oh no.

Did those balloon animals make him light in the head? What was with Milos, always looking for trouble, sniffing it out like a bloodhound on a crime trail. It was partly infuriating, considering it was usually Dani who had to make up some excuse for the boy to get him out of whatever web he had weaved for himself, but on the other hand it was somewhat admirable. Milos refused to live a boring life, constantly searching for something to get into, to learn, to challenge himself. And for most of it, the brunette girl had been by his side, watching him fail or succeed or keeping trying until he succeeded. Though his adrenaline rush wasn't going to take away from the bathroom ghost criminal.

"There's no ghost, shut up," She swatted and Milos' arm for the second time today, though her brow knitted together in suspicion. "Who would wanna fuck up Neck Tie? He literally doesn't do anything to anyone." Talking with her hands as always, Dani gestured over to where Stu's locker was, as if he was standing there normally. But in all reality, the question still stood. Realizing she hadn't seen Noah at all today, she quickly fumbled for the phone in her pocket, opening her messages and pressing on her best friend's name.

To: Cool Guy Noah
Where are you? Haven't seen ya today.

"Also, we're not racing chairs down the halls, you're gonna get suspended. And I'm not bailing your dumb ass out this time."

"You'd be a wreck if you never talked to me again," Paisley's words were paired with a roll of cerulean eyes, her back relaxing into her chair before folding her legs across Graham's lap. This was incredibly comfortable, just being with the auburn haired boy was comfortable, on stage and off, and boy was she naive to her feelings about him. Liza even knew, but never said a word. Instead, the boy would fall asleep at their house, wake up and have breakfast with them, no one seeming to want to spoil it for the two extremely young teenagers. Though why would you?

With a dramatic sigh, the blonde slumped down into her chair, sipping at the green bottle in small gulps. She hated school, sitting here while science and math classes loomed overhead, threatening to make her feel like an idiot. Luckily her best friend was a freaky genius when it came to the subjects that Paisley was less than stellar in. "Okay so gameplan," Her posture straightened, eyes fixing onto the deep chocolate of Graham's, "First we're gonna grab a pizza from Charlie's, then we'll go to my place. Homework first, then musical searches, then movies." Her fingers plopped down one by one as she listed off the remainder of their day, pressing gently into the back of Graham's hand, a smile glinting on her face. "And if you try to tell me we can't do a musical because you 'don't have the vocal range'" Insert sassy airquotes here, "I'm going to slap you silly. You have a wonderful voice, you know you have a wonderful voice so accept it mister."
