DrabberRogue
Flirty Fighty Prince Boi
The calamity stopwatch was ticking again. Jace had restarted it shortly after the immediate chaos of the musical had died down. When Alaska had been distracted, the principle had been pushed off the stage, and Raven had wrapped up whatever she was doing. Really, that play had caused way more jealousy than it had any right to. Not really having much reason to stick around, he took his leave shortly after, initially heading home. He'd planned to stay there for the rest of the night, not really having anything else to do. After having stood in the eye of Westbrook's latest storm, his parent's empty house seemed unnaturally peaceful by comparison. His footsteps echoed through the building on his way to the kitchen, dropping the forbidden brownies on the counter before raiding the fridge for a soda. With nothing better to do, Jace figured he'd settle in for a night of- Oh look a notification.
When his icy blue eyes first fell upon the screen of his phone, Jace was mildly annoyed with what he saw. Needless to say he didn't really like it when people insulted Ash. Especially using that kind of name calling in particular. Normally he wouldn't have gotten involved, especially with the blonde in question having a spicy comeback of her own, but it was tempting. Jace wanted to add his voice in defense of the girl who was probably still high, so he did. Then his opponent hit him with something he didn't expect. It was a good thing no one was there to see him, because they would've seen his pale cheeks flush with pink. JJ knew? Usually Jace didn't have much issue with dishing out banter. With this, however, he was a little hesitant. He wanted to reply with something fun while also trying to discredit the accusation.
Now while she clearly didn't get his reference, it definitely hadn't been a bad idea. JJ's word choice gave him the perfect opportunity to start having fun. There was a grin on his face by the end of their twitter exchange, leaving him in a better mood than when he'd started. What was it about bitchy girls that made them so fun? Maybe it was worth stopping by her house party for a bit. He probably wouldn't want to stay for too long, but he might as well take another shot at it. What was that about expecting different results for the same action? Whatever, it wasn't like he couldn't just leave when he got bored. There was something he wanted to do before he left, though.
The little twitter skirmish he'd partaken in had brought Ash back to the forefront of his thoughts again. He didn't need to be the girl's best friend to see that she was having a bad week. From breaking up with Ryder to pressure from her own mother, it seemed like she was falling apart. The whole thing was kind of off putting really. Watching someone he admired turn into someone he, well, didn't. So on a carefully considered impulse, Jace started typing again. This time in DMs. After he hit send he leaned his head back against the wall, letting a heavy sigh out into the lonely room. Why was his heart pounding?
