Welcome to Hogwarts [Inactive]

James felt uneasy, to put it lightly.

A swarm of students rushed into the hall, the chatter and gasps were almost deafening.

Professor Wicks and the Headmaster were the first who came and actually looked like they knew what they were doing, the prefects started barking out orders as they always do.

James felt the need to say something, since he was with Sherry when the body was discovered.

"Professor Wicks! With all due respect, what the hell!?!? One minute we were walking down to the Slytherin common room and the next everything goes crazy! I was with her the entire time, I saw everything that happened, what the hell is going on?"

James shut up after he realized what he just did.

He he just yelled at a teacher.

" I can take her I know the way or you can carry and I will lead you.'' Hailey says to the boy next to her. She was trying to be helpful even if she was scared.

Sebastian quickly walked to Hurley and put his hand on her shoulder and nudged her to move along with him. As soon as he had begun to lead Hurley away another Slytherin started to yell at him, even over the crowd he heard what the young man had said walking over to him he put his hands on the boys shoulder.

"You come with me too"

Sebastian had came off harsher then he intended but he pushed them both in front of himself. Sebastian quickly moved through the crowd of students, soon enough they were walking silently down an empty hallway towards the the statue which would lead to the Headmasters office
. Sebastian was deeply troubled by the things he had just witnessed, from what he had seen the entire area wreaked of a darkness in which he had never before witnessed, it was almost like a river of blackness, a mist that seemed to creep from the walls itself. It had surrounded the entire area, he could still feel the warmness of it almost inviting in its nature yet very cold and foreboding. He had wanted so much to believe that this was all just him over reacting and that nothing was going to be wrong this year, but it could not have been farther from the reality of what happened. Sebastian and the two students both came to the statue which was the secret entrance to the headmasters office.

Raising his hands up pointing towards the statue Sebastian spoke a word.

"Phoenix"

Almost instantly the statue came to life and creaked as a long spiral stair case was revealed from beneath it, the statue disappeared farther up.

"Come on both of you"

Sebastian waited silently as the young girl and young man walked past him, he followed silently behind them as they descended the stairs up to the Headmasters office. As soon as they left the stair well the stairs retracted back down closing the entrance below. Upon reaching the office, Sebastian motioned for both students to take a seat in front of the desk.

"Yes, something feels-" a scream had cut off Diane's sentence. Any amount of coolness she'd conjured up instantly drained from her.

"What was that? What's happening?" She asked quietly. In a matter of minutes, the prefects were directing everyone to their common rooms. Everyone in the Great Hall seemed confused. Many of the students had left, and frantic voices began filling the corridor. The teachers seemed uneasy. Diane went silent. So this wasn't going to be a peaceful year? She looked at Noah.

"I guess we have to go, then." She said quietly. Her eyes went straight to the first years. They seemed more afraid than anyone.

Noah jumped a bit when he heard the scream. The paintings were all frightened and one of the teachers left out in a rush with his wand. "I think it would be best if we followed the prefects orders and start heading to our dorms." Noah looks at the frightened first-years. 'What a great welcome to Hogwarts.' Noah thought to himself. Getting up, Noah says "Diane, let's help usher all the Hufflepuff's to our dorms." In a hushed tone, "keep your wand ready. Something is lurking and causing trouble."

Diane nodded and stood from her seat. Whatever was happening, she knew that safety should come first. She headed for a group of younger Hufflepuffs nearby, and pointed them to a larger group surrounding a prefect. As she continued trying to help, she searched the crowd for her brother. She saw him waving at her from the large group she'd directed the third-years to. She waved back to reassure him, then let her mind wander again.

How long had it been since something like this had occurred at Hogwarts? In her years here, nothing had caused such an uproar. On the first day back, no less.

Hailey took the boy's hand and lead him to the Dungeon. " you can put her here." points to a bench outside the door. " We can wait outside the door for someone to come and let us in."

Keira flinched and screamed once she heard the shouting, automatically jumping from her seat in a fit of panic and fear. What the hell is going on? She thought to herself frantically, covering her ears and trying to concentrate on her own thoughts as the entire hall erupted into a fit of chaos. She looked around at her house, seeing them all exiting the Great Hall and followed suit, knowing that the Slytherin Dungeons might be a safer place to go. She exited the hall quickly, trying to seem on top of things when she was crying and panicking on the inside.

Andrew, I don't want to die tonight like they did. She thought to herself, knowing her brother was far away from the Hogwarts castle and would not be able to hear her thoughts even if he was present. She almost went into a hyperventilation mode as she dragged her way out of the Great Hall, looking around in the terror for the Dungeons. For a moment, it was almost as if she had forgotten where they were as she looked around in a frenzy. She looked up at the paintings, seeing them screaming and realizing that what whatever the ordeal was, it was a danger to them all. After a few quiet breaths, Keira finally cleared her head somewhat, staggering toward the Dungeons.

Professor Veranda sat quietly, deep in her own thoughts. Something was...not right. A feeling of despair and foreboding washed over her. The closest she had ever experienced to something like this had been a night so far past, but still she explicitly remembered every moment. 'No, no, do not think of that...you have enough on your mind as it is.' She thought to herself. She look at the students, some looking a bit nervous, mostly first years. She did a once over of the hall, picking out which were the quiet-and-barely-noticable sort, and which would be giving her trouble. She stared at a few with a look of contempt, and maybe a slight hint of jealousy? Jealousy? At what? Their carefree and happy selves, something she never really had much of a chance to have herself. She looked down at her plate, going back to thinking. It was only when she realized that her name had been spoken, and students clapped (mostly just eager first-years), that the speech had drawn to a close.

To ease the awkwardness of the situation, she politely took a sip from her goblet. She didn't talk much, not she didn't not want to, it was simply in her nature that she didn't do much chit-chat. She ate a bit of a rare steak, potatoes, and a few other random things. The food at least was good. The food here had always tasted a bit better than other places. That much never changed. She was once again reminded of why she was there. She loved this place with all her heart; it was her home away from dreary home. She loved this school, and there were few times when she was as delighted as she was when she found out she was going to teach here. The corner of her mouth slightly twitched in a very, very barely noticeable smile, one of her fangs symbolizing her permanent 'condition' as the headmaster had called it, poked a little out of the corner of her mouth.

As she looked up she noticed two students leave, of her house, but brushed it off. The prefects obviously couldn't do much to control their peers today, and she seriously doubted they could do any real harm. She ate a little more, listening to a couple of professors next to her discuss that they too, felt the chilling feeling.

That is when the screaming started. Crystal could smell it, that inexplicable smell of blood, and it was so incredibly strong, there must have been a lot of it. Her breath caught in her throat, and she gasped a bit, but almost as quickly as it had caught her off guard, she regained her composition. Her 22 years of vampirism had made her tolerant to blood, but mass amounts at once could even catch her off guard. When the populace started dispersing, and a few of the other teachers and the headmaster followed, she decided to follow.

She brandished her wand and tracked the crowd, and did her best to start ushering them to their dorms. She spoke loudly and clearly, "Any student who does not return to their dorms immediately is subject to a detention! Prefects will be held doubly accountable, as it is your duty to be doing this so I don't have to do your job for you!"

((Sorry guys, my cable was knocked out due to the snowstorm))

After Sage's , well, she didn't know what it was. But suddenly she felt very, very cold. And something was clearly wrong, she felt it in her bones, saw it in the professors' faces, and even felt in in the air. The atmosphere seemed to be getting charged, and then suddenly...SNAP!

There was screaming, and the horribly distinct smell of...was that blood?

And the worst of it...the terrible guilty sinking feeling that Sage knew it was coming...and she couldn't stop it.

She hurried quickly to her dorm and tried to block out the rumors that the mutilated body found was, in fact, a Gryffindor. She felt like this was her fault.

She flung herself on her bed and hoped that someone would come to her rescue, to comfort and reassure her.

Then, she stood up and paced the common room, tearing at her hair.

After acting like a total emotional wreck, she smashed her face in her pillow, willing herself to suppress the guilt.

She needed a hero.
