Realistic or Modern Welcome to Elk-Wood High!~Currently Accepted

Gale was late to school. As usual. He was having the worst day of silence he'd had in a while. Every noise almost made him cry. He wasn't having a good day in the least. He got to his art class late, and just the sound of paintbrushes against canvas was putting him on edge. He couldn't speak to the teacher, he just shook his head silently. Not many people knew about his... affliction, but his teachers were aware. He sat in the back corner, tears in his eyes when he heard Ms. Lizama start speaking. @Arya Barnes

Sam noticed a boy sitting towards the back, tears threatening to leak out of his eyes. She gave him a small smile when he glanced up. She hoped that he would feel better soon and that first days were hard no matter how experienced you were with them.

Gale saw the girl smile at him and he smiled lightly as well. He could make it through the day, right? Of course he can. He's made it through the school day before. Why was this any different? Because you're having a silence fit, you idiot.

Turning back to her easel, Sam began to think about what she would draw on her first day. An idea popping into her mind, she stole glances at the boy who smiled at her with tears in his eyes. She sketched out a figure that resembled him slightly and filled the back ground with dark blues and black on one side and then golds and oranges on the other. Once the colors were blended just how she wanted, she started to work on the face of the boy. The face was symmetrical and had the same expression, but gold and orange side seemed happier.

While Sam as smiling at her canvas, Ms. Lizama came up behind her and nodded approvingly. Risking on more glance at the boy, she added a small, loopy letter S on the bottom corner.

Gale tried to paint. He couldn't. Every sound was like daggers to his ears. Eventually Gale gave up and dug through his bag for his noise cancelling headphones. He put them on and drowned out the world. Then he could paint. He started painting a mask. It was black and white, with a dark background. Small flashes of color surrounded the mask, mostly hidden by the darkness.

Sam smiled and she began to put her things away. Standing up, she headed to the back of the classroom to the sink so she could clean the brushes she used. She was close to the boy with the headphones and got a glimpse of his art. It was good. She waved her hand to catch his attention and when she had it, she signed to him, "You are good at painting."

Gale looked at the girl and raised an eyebrow. He didn't have a clue what she was doing. He looked around him and grabbed his paint brush, writing on his hand, What?, before showing it to her.

After the class did a couple dance routines the class was going to create posters for the last fall dance auditions so Mariah went to the art room to grab some supplies, still in her uniform, she thought she still looked pretty hot. She walked over to the teacher asking to borrow a few supplies. As she went into the back room to grab some things Mariah Looked around at some of the amazing art work especially near the guy with headphone and the girl washing her brushes.

Sam read the writing on his hand and smiled. He didn't know sign language so maybe notes would work. Holding up one finger, she grabbed a piece of paper out of her bag and wrote:

You are good at painting :)

After giving him the note, Sam smiled up at the girl in gym clothes that had just entered the room.

Mariah smiled back at her.

"Hey, Which painting is yours?" She asked politely making conversation.

Mariah had always secretly wanted to learn how to paint it was such a beautiful talent to have besides dancing and singing of course which both two talents came to her naturally.

Gale looked at the note and smiled. Thank you. He wrote back, giving her the note. He was embarrassed that he couldn't take his headphones off. The world needed to be silent for a while, or Gale might break down like he used to. He looked at Mariah with a small, almost unnoticeable smile.

Giving another smile to the boy, she turned to Mariah and said, "The one with the boy with the black and gold background." Sam had never talked to Mariah before so Sam was a little shocked and nervous.

She smiled at the girl "Nice" then Mariah looked over at him smiling back him noticing his smile. He was pretty cute, she remembered seeing him in the hallways a few times but noticed he kinda kept to his self so she didn't want to bother him especially while he was creating a masterpiece..

After a few minutes the teacher came back with the supplies, as she walked away she waved goodbye to the boy and gave him a wink as she exited the class.

Miles gritted his teeth at Andy "listen..." He slapped her book to the ground and grabbed her chin so she was looking him right in the eyes. "Don't you dare ever do this again or it'll be worse then this..." He growled.

Gale smiled when she winked at him. She was... attractive. Far out of his league. Gale went back to his painting and started adding some faint reds around the edges of the mask. He hadn't done the eyes yet. He wasn't planning on doing them for the next couple of days. He needed to get through the edges first. It was much harder than he anticipated. It would be easier with spray paint, but he couldn't use that in class.

After Mariah left with some art supplies, Sam went back to cleaning her brushes next to the boy. When she was done, she wrote another note to him.

What's your name? Mine is Sam.

Gale looked at the note. His name? His heart raced. Why does she need to know? His paranoia was getting the better of him. He shook his head and wrote, Gale. Nice to meet you.

Sam nodded at him again. Gale. He looked like a Gale. As she was writing back to him, Ms. Lizama clapped her hands to get their attention and tell them it was about time to clean their brushes. Before she went to back to her easel to move her painting to the room set aside for drying, Sam wrote back Nice to meet you too. See you around maybe?

Nichole was late, but that was to be expected. What she hated, was that she was late for music. She is supposed to be in room 209 practicing her guitar playing, but she overslept and couldn't leave the house without her eyeliner. What made things more difficult was the fact that she had no idea where anything was. She had no sense of direction and was stuck walking up and down the main hallway looking for her locker number.

'214' she repeated over and over in her head, her grey eyes searching all around her.

As Mariah was walking through the hallway back to class she sees a girl looking a little late. She was either new or she was late. Good thing it was only first period still. So Mariah decided to help her.

"Hey you lost?"

Nichole turned around to see a girl dressed in cute gym clothes. She absentmindedly glanced down at her own clothes consisting of an old Nirvana shirt, black leggings, a red plaid shirt tied around her waist and black combat boots. She was already thinking they were total opposites. Which didn't mean much to her, she was naturally outgoing. She was sure she didn't always look that way to other people.

"Yes!" She breathed, a bit relieved that someone would help her. "My locker is..." She looked down to her schedule paper. "Number 214. Do you know where that is?"

Mariah giggled at her "If your looking for 214 you'll never get here going this way. Your in hallway B. You gotta go down Hallway C. I'll show you come on." After going down the hallway to the left passing the teacher lounge Mariah Showed the pretty girl her locker. She looked at how she was dressed and once again smiled at her. "Cute outfit. I'm Mariah By the way. Oh and here's 214" Mariah chuckled placing her hands on her hips"

Nichole sighed in relief and quickly opened her locker up to stuff her green messenger-styled bag inside. If she didn't leave her bag here, she usually lost it somewhere. She closed her locker and turned to look at the girl, Mariah, once more. A smile played on her lips. She didn't really expect to meet someone nice in the first few minutes of being here.

"Thanks. I'm Nichole." She casually gave the girl a short wave. She just so happened to catch a glance at the clock on the wall. "Shoot. I'm 15 minutes late. I'll see you around!"

Thanks to Mariah's help, they had passed the music classroom on the way to her locker. She opened the door and walked inside with an apologetic smile on her face.

"Sorry, Mister..." She looked at the teacher's desk for his name. "Moore. It won't happen again."

She took a seat in the back as the class resumed.

Even through his noise cancelling headphone, Gale could hear the claps and winced. The noise was piercing and painful. Hearing it made tears come to his eyes. He took his headphones off just long enough to hear her instructions, then hastily replaced them and started washing his brushes. Gale saw the note and smiled, opting to just nod at the girl as he washed his brushes.
