The way the Donna acted made him think that she was having a really good time with him. He hoped he wasn't reading the signs wrong. He wanted to be right this time...for once.

As she joked about how she wouldn't talk to him for a week he looked across the table at her. He gave a soft smile before looking down at the menu. How did this happen?

Donna was a stranger. Before this he knew nothing about her, not even her name. Now? He wants to know everything he can about her until she tells him to stop.

You went from being a complete stranger..to being someone I can't- no. Won't stop thinking about.

It was then that he felt a buzz in his pocket. It was probably from the girl Donna is pushing him to take out on a date. Why would he check his phone when he's with Donna? He wants to make her feel like she is included. Like whatever she says, or even just her presence is important. At that thought he doesn't touch his phone and morons the waiter over to order.

"Annyeonghaseo, budaejjigae juseyo?" Milo said handing over the menus. The one thing he could say he was lucky enough to have was his native language. His adoptive mother took pride in Milo and where he was from. She made sure he never forgot it.

"You'll like it don't worry. I mean I don't know how you'll drive and not talk to me for a week, but we'll see Dove" he told her with a chuckle.

He was glancing now at her hands that were across the table. Was it weird that he wanted to hold them still?

To distract himself from those thoughts he cleared his throat a little while the background music played. "I know you some of the things you were stressed about..and I hope that one day you'll be comfortable enough with me to tell me what's bothering you..but you can't do something if I don't do it too." He said sheepishly. "The reason why I know some pretty good places is because I used to go with my adoptive mom. I haven't came here in awhile and..I only really come with her. I like to have good memories here since growing up I've learned that food can bring people together and that's all I ever really wanted" he said with a sigh as he drank his water that was on the table.

"Too sappy huh?"

Nico Trippe
Killing someone's vibe should be a fucking crime
"Oh cool, I should keep doing it then," Nico chuckled, tickling wherever he could circumvent her crossed arms until the girl flitted out of his reach. He laughed when she suddenly popped up behind him after hiding underwater to escape his splashing, his face reddening as Calla climbed onto his back and gave his cheek a kiss. "I--uh--awesome," The flustered boy stammered at the somewhat flirtatious answer to his question, immediately missing the feel of her warm body pressed against him when she hopped off moments later.

Nico followed when Calla suggested getting out before they caught a cold, uncharacteristically quiet while he thoughtfully rinsed himself clean of the saltwater and shook out his sandy clothes. He knew he liked Calla a lot, but beyond that had no clue what to do with those feelings. Unsure if she even reciprocated them to the point of actually wanting to kiss him or do anything beyond that. Nico's only "relationship" experience so far being random hook-ups or casually hanging out with a girl until the tryst fizzled out. All he knew was he'd be gutted if a fling between them were to go south and take their fun friendship down with it.

Back home, Nico of course jumped at the suggestion to cuddle up with Calla and watch a movie together. "Yooo, look at all this." Ambling through the yard to reconvene with his friend, Nico looked around the little setup she'd taken the time to prepare in addition to the projector, complete with popcorn and a nest of comfy blankets. "This is awesome," He grinned in appreciation at Calla while his light brown eyes were subtly appreciating how hot she looked in that outfit; a tad more revealing than the stuff she usually wore, though he failed to connect that the sexy ensemble may have been chosen purposefully, rather than something she randomly happened to grab while getting dressed.

"Will you sit down alreadyyyy?" He teased after watching Calla sip her wine for a bit and fuss around with the projector to get the film started. As she finally lowered herself down next to him, Nico tugged her by the arm, chuckling as she fell right on him. "Sorry, but I'm coooold, I need your warmth," He fibbed, as it was just an excuse to wrap his arms around Calla and snuggle her tightly as she lay on top of him.

Still holding the girl in his arms, he then playfully flipped her onto her back so she could actually see the movie while he cuddled her, only Nico couldn't seem to tear his eyes away from her pretty face long enough to look at the screen. He kept them where they wanted to be instead, glancing at her soft pink lips, though he hesitated to move in for a kiss despite the persistent urge to do so.

Trust me, when I'm determined I can achieve everything, not talking to you wouldn't be a problem. It was a lie though, not talking to Milo would be an issue. He surprised her more and more and ripping him apart to learn about him.

But I didn't know that you spoke Korean. Are there any other secrets that you're hiding from me Milo? She teases him, pulling the straw of her water between her lips and taking a sip.

It's not sappy pepr se. She sighs, a chuckle leaving her mouth. Okay, I won't lie. It is just a little bit. Deep down Donna respected that he shared this with her, it was something that she was never able to do. Open herself up to someone so that they could learn the inner workings of Donna Lee.

She couldn't have them learn that she was terrfied for her future. That her parents' approval meant the absolute world to her. That she was falling for some brunette idiot with tattoos and the affinity to disturb her peaceful days. She didn't want anyone to know that. Thanks for sharing that I appreciate it, truly. Her voice is softer than it's ever been when addressing him, but she is to reveal nothing, at least for now

Her hand that isn't wrapped around her cold water glass taps Milo's that's resting on the table. Don't get your cute head all in a bunch seriously, you wouldn't want to hurt yoruself thinking too much now would you. She pulls her hand back almost as fast as she put it out. Anyways, tell me more about your adoptive mom, if she had to handle you I'm sure she's pretty amazing.

Calla could feel his eyes on her as she fumbled to pick a movie. Obviously her outfit was working and she could tell he was attracted to her and she couldn't help but feel both nervous and excited as she settled on Click with Adam Sandler... Mostly because it was basically all genres; romance, comedy, and it was a little sad. "Hold your horses." Calla said with a laugh and moved to sit down beside him, grabbing one of the fluffier comforters to pull up to them then pressed play on the movie. Before she could even lean back though, she was tightly pulled to Nico and she couldn't help but laugh at this man.
"You know there's lots of blankets to keep warm." Calla said in a teasing tone and gestured to the mass of blankets, especially the warm comforter she had brought out. "This ones warm and fluffy." She said, doing her best to ignore the fact she was basically on top of him. When he moved her so she could see the movie she hesitated for a moment before cuddling right in to him. With her arm hugged around his chest and her leg draped against his hip, she pulled the blanket up so they wouldn't get cold, her eyes on the screen.
It wasn't until she went to sneak a glance at him that she noticed his eyes were on her. Almost instantly the blush crept up to her neck and then to her face. But... he was looking at her lips, and there was that little look in his eyes that his attention was fully for her. Biting the corner of her lip she propped herself up, deciding this one time was her moment to be brave. She spent her whole life scared of taking a chance... If what Tatum had reassured her was correct then maybe this, with Nico, could work... Gently she moved the arm that was draped across him up so that her hand was lightly placed on the side of his neck and her thumb gently brushing his jaw line. With her eyes on his a moment she glanced down to his lips and slowly started leaning in.

Until there was a crash and a shuffling sound by the garbage bins that made her jump and look toward the side of the house, "oh I fricken knew he'd come crawling around at some point." She mumbled and stood up, marching toward the side of her house, using the cardigan to make herself look more covered, "so twerp... have you come to steal my trash or have you made a decision."

"There's only a respectable amount of secrets. It's to make me seem cooler...but you'll know of them eventually" Milo said when the waiter came with their food, rice, and the side dishes that came with Milo turned on the burner and began to stir with his one hand while resting his other on the table. He was trying to distract himself yet again.

"So you admit I'm cute Dove" he raised his eyebrow teasingly as he looked at her. Then when she touched his hand he instinctively grabbed, not in a fast manner, but in a way that showed he wanted her touch. He gave her hand a squeeze before tending back to filling her bowls first. He didn't say anything about it.

During the dinner he talked about his adoptive mother some and then switched the conversation to what she's doing for her birthday. Everything except topics about her parents. He wanted her to feel comfortable. That was his goal was to gain her trust.

He paid the bill, knowingly beating Donna to the bill. Now when they were back in the car Milo was laughing at himself as he tripped on the broken sidewalk while almost pulling Donna down with him.

The car ride Milo turned up the music and rolled down his window so they could be jamming out. Mainly him. He was making a complete idiot of himself probably, but he'd only show her that.

When they were parked finally at his house he turned down the music and took off his seatbelt. Milo then sighed. "Hey Dove I have a question" he started off with as he paused himself. Was he going to ask her? Swallow his nervousness? He had to. He wanted to know the answer she was going to give.

He leaned his body over to her and peered into her face. The smell of nature and his cologne. His dark brown eyes not looking away from her. "Do you really want me to go out with that girl?" He asked still inching forward to her. His forehead was now touching hers, his hand still holding hers. "If you tell me right now I won't do it. If you tell me something..anything.." he said in almost a whisper. While he asked the seconds felt like forever. His eyes glanced at her lips that were so close to hers in that moment. Unfortunately he was getting a the girl in question, but his attention was still Donna.

TL;DR Party time with Bestie!COMMENT] --------don't type anything after this comment-------- [/COMMENT]

got a funny feeling you don't love me anymore
"Are you sure it's okay?" Ellie's brows furrowed, one arm still tightly wrapped around her baby girl as Jay attempted to convince her he wouldn't hate her forever for going to a party instead of Trick or Treating. Ordinarily she'd insist upon joining father and daughter on this tradition. But today was different.

Lately Jay and Ellie's complicated dynamic had gotten more and more out of hand though. They'd be incessantly lovey dovey and then bicker about something or other which Ellie would inevitabaly have to defuse by saying she was in the wrong and oh so sorry. It wasn't impossible to get Jay to say he was in the wrong to her. However she prioritized peace and quick return to status quo over the temporary glory she might get by holding to her feelings and values.

This ws how the twosome worked. She had a feeling Jay wasn't aware of how much she felt the need to hide, had to suppress in order to stay with him in their limbo space, and to make sure it didn't bleed out onto Courtney. Her hurts, her jealousy, her pinterest obsession, her desires, her longing for both of her hometowns, anywhere other than the place that had been the start of her spiral. All while Jay refused to commit to her, awkwardly sidestepping her desires and apparently meeting up with the ex he had once dumped her for behind her back.

So why did she stay with him? In this dynamic where she felt so small and insignificant, there were many layers that kept her tied. For one, Courtney deserved a family together. For another he was her first love, and the charming witty sardonic guy she still obsessed over to this day. And did she really deserve better than Jay?

She was a dumbass, college dropout who fucked someone else's boyfriend, a jilted bride, a lonely single mother, and the slut who fucked her ex fiancee's brother. If Jay didn't love her nobody would. And though objectively evidence showed that Jay probably did not in fact love her, she was determined from a young age to win him over. She couldn't be all alone again. She'd suffered that at 10, moving to a country with a language barrier, again at 18, when she lost her father, at 20 when he dumped her because he couldn't love her, and now with this limbo? It was better than nothing.

She thought herself selfless for all these sacrifices. Gladly taking her penance for fucking another girl's boyfriend, and prioritizing Jay's wants and desires for no strings over her own. That was why when intrusive thoughts of finding someone else, ending this cursed pair entered her brain, she couldn't stand it. That would be selfish. And she had lost the right to be selfish long ago.

Luckily, a party with Lindsay could take her mind off of these feelings becoming too much to bear. She could get wasted, maybe make out with a stranger, and crash at Lindsay's. Then she'd have a clear head and decide her next step.

With a hesitant sigh she released her daughter, and gripping the cape so as not to reveal the lingerie underneath, sauntered outside of the door. There, her bestie/fellow tenant/literal goddess Lindsay was waiting in her Judy Garland get up. "Damn girl!" Ellie exclaimed, wrapping an arm around her buddy. "That's it I need to find uglier friends to make me look good in comparison."

"Are you ready to par-tay?" She grinned, taking her by the hand and leading her out the building and to the old Nordstrom house where the party was hosted. "God it's been like.....years since I partied. I'm such an old mama now." She whined, playfully hugging Lindsay for support. "Let's go. Promise to let me know if you're gonna ditch me for a guy though?" She questioned her beloved bestie, half joking half serious. A girl needed to have these things spelled out for her after all.

The smile on Donna's face was hard to wipe off by the end of their evening together. From the petting zoo, to the hot pot, to him letting loose in her passenger seat, Milo had made his day about making Donna feel better. His day was about her but there were no underlying reasons and he wasn't expecting anything from her in exchange.

Dimples presented on her cheeks as he continued to be...Milo.

Donna hadn't had the faintest idea as to why he started calling her dove. But hearing him say it, like a caress against her skin. He used it delicately a nd with genuine meaning that the young girl could feel her heart swoon when he did it. It was dangerous, the word dove. And it was in the arsenal of words Milo Brooks held.

She pulls into a space right in front of Milo's home, hoping to end her day with Milo in order for her to put herself through withdrawal. She's ready to make a remark about kicking him out and seeing him for anothe day of chaueffering, but Milo interrupts her before she can even being. And once again, Milo's hand encases hers. Donna glances down to their joined hands seemingly forgetting how to breath. When she looks up to meet his eye contact that's when her body forces her to take a breath.

When Milo rests his forehead against hers and asks about this other girl, it takes everything in the wim captain not to confess how she'd been feeling all day. It took everything in her not to jump over the center console, straddle his lips, and completely devour his lips with hers. It took everything in her not to tell him to be hers. It was the most self control that she'd ever had to partake in. But it was also the easiest. Because Donna was scared.

I want you to be happy. She grins at him, her unoccupied hand almost comes up to caress his face but she stops herself because the step after that was going to be a kiss. And I can't make you happy. She peels herself away from him slowly, painfully, and settles herself back into the drivers seat. She grisps the steering wheel as a means to not grab onto him and take back the next words. You should call her, go on a real date with her. I think that'd be best.

Tossing her over his shoulder like a caveman made Josephine giggle wildly, and the sound never failed to fill the young man with happiness. Alexei couldn't help but chuckle along with her, shaking his head as she pretended to scream for help. "Hey!" He reached up to tickle her sides in a fruitless effort to stop her squealing about him killing her. "Stoooppppp," He pleaded. "You know Max probably has me on all kinds of watch lists, you're gonna get me tossed in jail," Alexei whined jokingly--well, partly joking. Truly, he wouldn't be suprised it Max somehow did report him to any bureau or authorities that would listen, for suspected book theft and god only knew what else.

The couple skated around the rink leisurely after Josephine's second brush with death so far on this date, this time on the ice when Alexei had spun her much too aggressively. "You aaare getting it," He gave his girl an encouraging smile, dotingly watching her skate beside him unassisted. The second Alexei looked away for a beat though, he heard Jo plop onto the ice, glancing over to see her suddenly sitting down and grumbling to herself. "Aww, babyyyy," He frowned while pulling her up by the hands, pressing a kiss to her forehead to comfort her once she stood upright on her skates again.

"Tink," Alexei affirmed in response to the question of his niece's name, beaming with such pride and adoration at the mention of her that it was almost as if he was speaking about his own child. "Aww, really princess?" He asked cheerfully, thrilled she was willing to take an interest in the little girl. "Yeah! We can take her to do a lot of fun stuff," Alexei grinned, pulling the brunette into his arms for a quick cuddle of appreciation.

"You sure?" He asked with a laugh at Jo's request to spin her again, letting her out of his embrace to instead take both her hands. He started skating again at a swift but more relaxed pace than the last time, still holding onto her hands as the couple whipped around in rapid circles until they naturally slowed down.

Dropping her hands, Alexei skated forward toward her, playfully scooping the petite woman up under her armpits to take her along for the ride. "This is how the pros do it on tv, right?" He joked, extending his arms up above his head as far as he could while holding Jo in his hands. Alexei couldn't help but laugh as he looked up at her, kind of dangling helplessly like a kitten being held by the scruff. Chuckling, he lowered Josephine to instead hold her comfortably in his arms as he skated, giving her lips a kiss before pausing to gently let her back down on the ice.

Ashley Park
I like you so much it's kinda gross

Ashley stumbled out of the bathroom, pulling her oversized khaki pants up. Not spotting her target right away, she scoured the room, "Dumbass!"She called out, recieving a response from a grand total of nobody. "Babe!," Nothing. "DUSTBIN FLYNN THACKERY." She called out, above the loud music, hands cupped around her mouth to work as an amplifier of sorts.

Her adorably tipsy guy seemingly popped out of nowhere, wrapping her gently in a hug. "Hey baby" She grinned, breaking out for once a pet name that couples actually used. A hand spread to his cheek as she placed a quick peck on his nose "Did you miss me?" She teased, as if she had been gone days and weeks instead of for a few minutes while she took a shit.

"Cross my heart, no Corkies were in the bathroom with me," Ashley placed a hand over her heart, grinning mischieviously as she knowingly ignited her boyfriend's hatred of the name twins. "Maybe you should join the cheer squad so you can pout and stuff there while you stalk me." She suggested to him, gently guiding him by the hand to a more quiet window nook where he could actually hear her usual yammering about nothing. "I mean think about it. Guys from cheer always pull the hottest chicks anyway," She commented, nudging him playfully as she restrained laughter. "So if you're looking for a wingwoman's advice? Join cheer."

"I forgot to ask though. Like my costume?" She questioned, holding her arms out to showcase the ensemble in it's full glort, complete with a hawaiian shirt, purple tie, goggles, and a lab coat. By far the dorkiest thing she'd worn in her life. But Back to The Future was his favorite movie, since she'd known him, and she was positive since he was young. So who was she to shit on his shit?

She began playing with his hair, as she had done many times before. "I gotta say, Marty Mcfly with that mop? Massive improvement. You look like a sexy cabbage patch doll kinda." She joked, gently scratching his head, stroking it, admiring the curls. She probbed both of her knees onto the windowseat, wrapping an arm around her boyfriend. "I'm gonna sit on your lap okay?"

Wynn Jones
timothee-chalamet.gif

Wynn had been anticipating this night for a bit now and his nerves were running high. With his moms plans to go to her church group in the city he knew she'd be gone till late and she never usually checked on him before bed... But just to make sure she didn't know he was gone he set up some pillows under the cover to make it seem like he was in bed asleep. Sending a quick message to Jenny, he said, "gonna leave my tablet at home so my mom thinks I fell asleep to music. If my tablet is here she won't check on me... I'll meet you at the library soon."
When his room was all set up to be believable he got ready pretty quickly in a simple vampire costume and some of his only black clothes. Once out of the house he ran to his bike and quickly biked into town. Luckily the ride wasn't so harsh anymore with the heat, now that it was cold. Once in town he could see all the kids trick or treating and getting candy, enjoying life and he couldn't help but feel sad with what he missed out on.
Pulling up to the familiar place he called his second home, Wynn locked up his bike and took a seat on on the stairs, placing his elbows on his knees, his hands clasped together and his foot bouncing nervously. The boy hardly had any interaction with people, ever. And now he was throwing himself into a party for a girl he hardly knew but felt like he knew. But this would be his first real teen experience... His mom took away his childhood and soon he would be an adult who can move away... This might be his only chance to be a real kid.
Completely nervous, the boy stood and began pacing the front stairs of the library, his hands in his pockets. Jenny would be there soon, and he would be around a group of kids that he didn't know soon, and he would be normal... for once.

;; Ronan
Ronan had come to the party a little while ago. So far he had just been alone avoiding the center of the room that had more people in it. He didn’t feel comfortable if he was surrounded by too many people at the same time. Ronan was more of an introvert by nature, though he called himself a social introvert. He liked to be around people but only to a certain extent.

The party was arranged by his friend Jenny and besides her Ronan knew most of the people that were attending it. However he hadn’t yet seen anyone he felt comfortable to come up and start a conversation. He hoped that someone would go and start talking to him, he didn’t want to be alone but starting a conversation with someone random didn’t sound tempting. So for now Ronan was stuck with himself. He was holding a mug of beer in his hands, his third drink so far.

His costume, mainly the giant fake styrofoam apple hanging in front of his face, made drinking and observing the environment a little difficult. So Ronan moved his hat into an ankle where his face wouldn’t be hidden by the apple. His choice of costume didn’t seem so smart anymore. Ronan had wanted to do something more creative than just good old ghost or devil. Originally he wanted to create one of his self portraits as a costume but that idea didn’t work out.

He often drew himself with his skull open and he didn’t know how the hell he would execute that in real life. In the end he had picked fellow surrealist's René Magritte’s painting Man of son. After some googling Ronan realized it was nothing new, but something that had been done before. But it was creative enough and easy to execute so he decided to stick with it.

Now that Ronan could see what he was doing, he put the mug on his lips and took another sip of the lukewarm liquid. He wasn’t yet drunk or even tipsy but if he continued with this tempo he would be there soon. Getting himself too drunk, however, wasn’t on Ronan’s plans. Last time he got himself too drunk, it was on the boat regatta and the consequences weren’t good. He ended up embarrassing himself and getting punched.

Carson Hughes

After being away for so long it was nice to be back home with Mildred and in some ways Sydney. Though Sydney always gave her weird vibes like she could see and hear things that others couldn’t hear. She could learn to tolerate the granddaughter of Mildred, but it was going to be an interesting time with the other girl living in the house. However, none of that mattered today because it was Halloween and unlike most of the other adults Carson wasn’t dressing up, she was getting herself ready to go and explore the alleged haunted school of Anchor Bay. Did she really believe it was haunted? No. That fact didn’t stop her though especially after she bought a few books on the lore of the town. While at the bookstore she had managed to recruit both Jo and Max, and with Jo came Alexei which wasn’t a bad thing. Alexei and Jo were extremely nice a bit too lovey dovey for Carson’s taste, but she did think they made an extremely cute couple. Why Max wanted to come was beyond her understanding, but she happily agreed to let him join the group expedition.

The unfortunate thing is that Carson was going to have to bike to the school, which she could do, but it meant she had to leave earlier. It wasn’t that she didn’t want a ride from anyone she just wanted to see the place and take in the spooky vibes that everyone said they felt upon arrival. She wanted to feel it all for herself without having to be around the others. She didn’t need them to see her with her walls down so she had planned to meet them there. Have just a spare moment for herself. Sure, she had a lot of time to herself but this moment being one with nature was something different.

To say the bike ride was short would have been an outright lie and by the time Carson arrived she was winded. She parked her bike off the road and made her way around and beyond all the growing brush she could see the school peeking out. It didn’t seem grand, but she could see why others thought it would be spooky. Tucked away behind much plant life, in what was now considered the woods would give anyone some uncomfortable vibes, but she didn’t for one second think of it as being truly haunted. Afterall it was lore, so it was based on some truth and mostly lies. Myths that could be broken, sounds that could be explained through logic, it wouldn’t be that bad, it couldn’t be that bad. But it was Halloween the night where many said the spirits could freely roam the Earth once again. Bullshit if you asked Carson but why not pick an abandoned to school to test out the theory? It wasn’t like she told anyone her real reasons, she just said she was curious, not to prove to herself that ghosts were or were not real.

Calla Gilles

Calla's day had been crazy. Between setting up the house to be spooky with a fog machine, scary decorations, and getting booze and snacks, Calla was finally satisfied with the way everything looked. It was almost time for people to start arriving and the girl was both nervous and excited, hoping everything would turn out fine especially since she was new to AB. The nagging feeling that no one would want to come because of her position in the town made her super nervous, but she did her best to push past that anxiety.
Now that the house was done, the girl ran up to her room and changed into the costume she had picked up and quickly changed and did her makeup. With dark, sparkly purple eyeliner and black lips, Calla was finally happy with her look and did a quick check in the body sized mirror, making sure everything was fine.
Since the night in the backyard with Nico, they haven't really had a moment like that since besides awkward hip touches and obvious flirt teasing. They had almost kissed but Oli's interruption had stopped that from happening. Which she was both mad and happy about; mad that she almost kissed Nico and was rudely interrupted, but happy that Oli had agreed to move in. Speaking of...
After placing the cute little witch hat on her head, the girl hurried down the stairs, happy she didn't put the heels for the costume on yet or there would have been a possibility she would've tumbled down the stairs. Before entering the basement with the snacks and drinks she had purchased for Oli, she gave a soft knock then descended down, "hey bud. I got these so you don't feel pressure if you needed to go upstairs for them." Calla said and walked over to he kitchenette she had set up for him. There was no sink but there was a hot plate on a makeshift counter, an electric kettle, a microwave and a minifridge. While it was pretty last minute, the girl hopefully would get a contractor in to make an actual one.
Kneeling down the girl began to unpack the bags into the minifridge and the snacks into the little storage baskets. There was juice, pop, chips, and many other things that he could eat that were both junk food and healthy. "I hope I grabbed what you like." She told the kid and stood up, "also, I'll lock the door at the top of the stairs so if you need to leave and take a walk or anything just use the door over there to go outside." She smiled, somewhat seeming to be hurried.

"Mommy, this house!" Della heard Everleigh squeal and run up the sidewalk of a pretty dressed up house, a smile on her lips. She had never taken Everleigh trick or treating before, and the child was harvesting more excitement than her little body could handle. "Okay baby when they answer say 'trick or treat!'" She told the little one as she watched Everleigh do exactly that. Glancing down at her phone she saw the text from Blu and bit her lip. She couldn't get the night they almost kissed out of her head, and it kinda made her fumble and stuff at work. Her brain was all flustered.
When Everleigh came running back, she slipped her phone back into her pocket and continued on. Eventually with the little girl was cold and her feet were tired, Della strapped Everleigh into the stroller and made their way back home. "Okay, I'm gonna put your treats into the pantry and you can have a few pieces each day. With this much candy you'll be set till Christmas." Della said excitedly and put the candy in a shopping bag and hung it on a hook out of Everleighs reach. "Go put on your jammies before the babysitter gets here." She motioned for Everleigh to go and patiently waited for the kid she hired for the night.
When the teenager arrived, Della walked the kid through everything and smiled. The kid wasn't too young, about 16 and she was one of the regulars at the diner's kid so Della trusted her. "If you put on Frozen then Everleigh will be set for the night... oh and if she gets hungry just pop some dino nuggets into the air fryer and she'll love you forever." Della said with a laugh and left the house, carrying the tinkerbell wings in one arm. From where she lived she knew the party wasn't too far away and when she arrived there were already a few people trickling in and some spooky music was playing from some synced from a few speakers around the house.
Where the front hallway closet was Della hung her jacket up then put on the cute little wings. The dress was a little revealing but not something she wasn't used to, her style was pretty different than what most people expected from moms. The woman made her way over to where Calla had stacked booze in the kitchen and smiled at the effort that the new girl put into making the house all spooky, pouring herself something with rum and leaned against the counter, taking her phone to shoot Blu a text, "here!"

Oliver Dreyfuss
How lonely it is, to be drowning in a place where everyone can swim

After two weeks of drifting from place to place, picking through trash, taking help from his friends only as he desperately needed it, Oliver had finally cracked and consented to stay with Calla Gilles. He'd moved into her basement and stayed there for the past month.

It was a miracle, or perhaps a testament to the negligence of the public school system, that none of his teachers had noticed his rapidly deteriorating state and frequent absences in the time he was left homeless. Oliver knew his mother's name and number were still in their records, along with the address of the apartment that had since burned to ash, and he sorely dreaded the day when they'd try to call her only to find that she had picked up her other the children and left Anchor Bay for good, leaving her teenage son behind like he'd died. What Calla was doing wasn't technically legal, but Calla had been a foster child herself and knew that a boy like Oliver wouldn't survive in the system. He would just be getting cast from one abusive, neglectful environment into another. With Calla, at least, he was getting what he needed.

It felt disorienting to him at first; having so much space to freely move about without fear of being yelled at or hit for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Even just having his own bed, with a frame and everything, was far more than he was used to. And now he had his own bathroom, a couple of kitchen appliances... basically his own little downstairs apartment of the house, all of which he could use freely. Space to do his homework and store books and school supplies. Oliver had never had his own books before.

It took some getting used to, as all new things did for him. He hadn't slept well the first few nights, always pacing the halls into the wee hours of the morning. He didn't say a word to Calla or her roommate Nico for many weeks, nor to anyone else, finding himself having fallen into a deep mute spell where all his usual words seemed irretrievably trapped in his brain. Eventually Calla or Nico might stumble across his turtle obsession... most likely, that would be the only thing that would get him talking again.

Today was Halloween and Calla was using her grandmother's vast house to host a party. Oliver was more than content to stay downstairs for the duration of it. Parties made him nervous, especially parties where people would be drinking. Calla was kind enough to bring down some snacks for him, so he could simply hide away until the house was quiet again.

"also, I'll lock the door at the top of the stairs," She said on her way out, "so if you need to leave and take a walk or anything just use the door over there to go outside." Oliver nodded silently, stabbing open a juice box with its plastic straw. Being able to come and go as he pleased still felt surreal. Knowing that Calla wouldn't throw a beer bottle at his head for daring to leave without permission oddly left him unsure of what she would do. He wouldn't be in any trouble? None at all? That didn't seem real. He never said anything to her about it, as he never said a word to her at all. Never once in his life had he spoken up about what happened to him at home, but it was clear that he thought about it a lot.

For the first time, he was safe. And safety still felt strange and daunting.

Sunny wasn't one to skip a party, especially not one arranged by her friend. Jenny had really done her best with the halloween party and everyone seemed to have fun so far. Sunny was feeling good about herself for once. She felt pretty in her costume and she had her charming boyfriend with her. Besides, a party was always something to cheer her up. She really liked parties, they were always full of life and drama. People getting drunk and exposing their greatest dreams or deepest fears. You could hear interesting and eye opening conversations.

It was great to see people having a fun time. Laughing and talking. Dancing, singing and of course getting drunk. Even the preparation for parties was fun. Inviting people, decorating, buying snacks and drinks. But the absolutely best part of party preparations was getting yourself ready for parties. Making yourself look good and wearing a cool outfit was the part of partying Sunny enjoyed most. And where picking regular outfits was fun, picking a costume was even more fun. For tonight she had dressed up as Cruella De Vil and she wasn't doing it alone but as a couple costume.

Cruella wasn't Cruella without dalmatian puppies and to Sunny's surprise Jesse had eventually agreed on dressing up as one for her. Jesse's outfit was a little silly and honestly, Sunny had picked it just for shits and giggles. She hadn't believed that her boyfriend would have actually dared to dress up in the costume. But as silly as the costume was, a handsome boy like Jesse would look good in anything. Sunny couldn't help but look at him in a loving gaze. "You make such a cute puppy!" She said cheerfully with hints of mischief in her voice.

Soon Sunny's thoughts jumped from Jesse to another topic. "I'm feeling thirsty..." She mumbled out loud more to herself than to Jesse. The two of them had arrived at the party just recently and they had not yet crabbed any drinks. Party was a party and even though it didn't mean you should drink yourself in a bad shape, it also didn't mean you needed to stay sober. "What about you? Would my puppy like to drink something?" She then asked Jesse with raised eyebrows and a smiling face.

The wheels of his longboard hummed against the pavement going full speed toward the loud music coming from Jenny's house. With one hand in his pocket, and the other holding a smoke, Hudson paid no mind to his surroundings as the music grew closer. While the devil costume was a relaxed fit and pretty comfy, the makeup his sister put on him made his face feel uncomfortable and itchy. How she managed to get him to dress up? He didn't know. When he reached the house he looked around at the decorations, dropping the cigarette on the ground and crushing it as he grabbed the longboard off the pavement. Hudson had been disappointed in himself this year, with failing his senior year and needing to retake it, he felt too old to be at this party but too young to be at the other one. If he had graduated he'd be in Hawaii right now, surfing away.
Going inside, he was greeted by some people, smiling and nodding like he actually wanted to be there. It didn't take long to get a drink in his hand and downed it pretty quickly, though with his hang out with Tatum later he was careful not to let himself smell like alcohol, and instead of choosing to smoke weed, he ate a couple gummies that one of his friends provided. Hudson's life was one big whirlwind of feeling like the odd person out, though he knew he wasn't someone who was hated among Anchor Bay... and he was aware he wasn't the smartest so sometimes friendships and relationships went right over his head. The school psychologist said it was Asperger Syndrome and ADD? "It's not severe symptoms but they may affect him later on." He could hear the psychologist saying.
With the slight buzz from the gummies, Hudson was already over the loud music of the party and left the house. Last year this sort of thing was something he would embrace, but now it just felt like he was intruding in some way. Of course that could just be his brain messing with him, but he needed to leave. Hopping back on his longboard, Hudson went barreling through the streets again, dodging late night trick or treaters, and eventually found himself at the convenience store. Grabbing a basket, he picked up a big bag of sour patch kids, by her request, nacho chips and dip, and a couple of sodas. After everything was checked out, Hudson made his way to Tatum's place, skidding to a stop.
Just to be sure none of his previous activities would trigger or affect her, he popped some gum from his backpack and dropped a couple of eye drops into his eyes though he knew they weren't red in any way because of his tolerance, and then made his way to the door, giving a couple knocks. Since his sister came back to town, he couldn't stand being home while she apartment shopped, and of course his parents expectations were reminded again how much they expect from Hudson. He didn't want to deal with her at all, and while sometimes she was good company, he generally couldn't stand being around her. Which is why he was here when he originally didn't have anything planned... It was a good thing he felt comfortable around Tatum.

Odette Green

Odette was excited about being home from the moment her car pulled into Anchor Bay that morning. Of course she would miss the sun and fun of L.A. but the modelling thing was just becoming too hard on her both physically and emotionally. Between needing to keep a tip top appearance, the eating disorders, and the hate, the paparazzi, and her constantly being in the public eye, she was exhausted. When she announced she was retiring... a lot of people understood. Of course her fans and trans kids who looked up to her were disappointed, but she knew she needed to get out before she broke completely. Anchor Bay was where she started and she knew it was the place she needed to end. While her new income would be from being an influencer, she was content with the major modelling to end.
Odette hadn't seen her parents in 6 years, but they welcomed her with open arms. And to be honest she missed them... even her stupid little brother. She'd be staying at their house while the condo on the beach that she had purchased was getting renovated, so her little brother would have to put up with her for a few weeks. And of course, her old friends of the town... She missed them as well. She hadn't spoken to them much since she left, only popping in for a quick check in every now and then, Odi was for the most part excited to see them again. Especially with the Halloween party happening that night. It was a chance to see the people she left as well as meet the new people she hadn't.
After she had touched up Hudsons makeup with a laugh, she sent him on his way then began to do her own, making sure to go all out. While she wouldn't miss modelling, she couldn't help but enjoy being the center of attention. Her costume was simply meant to be an angel costume, but the way it turned out made it look more like Romeo and Juliet, not that she minded. Once everything was perfect, she made her way to the Witch's house. The stories from when she was a kid had surprised her that a girl her age, who was the womans granddaughter, now owned it.
There were already people trickling in to the party and Odette recognized some faces almost instantly. Going to the kitchen on a hunt for booze, she poured herself a vodka water and began chatting with the blonde in a Tinkerbell costume. This girl was definitely new and definitely seemed fun to talk to. It didn't take long to find out her name was Della and she'd only been living in Anchor Bay for a few months. From the looks of it, the girl already seemed tipsy and she couldn't help but giggle at her "girlfriend, but a girl whos a friend, definitely not a girlfriend is meeting me" remark. Anchor Bay drama was always the best drama.

October 31st..another year..another fucking year.

I shouldn't even be here and yet here I am breathing and alive today. I don't know whether to call that rewarding or a a disappointment..maybe I just need to suck it up? Do what I've been doing these passed years to keep yself afloat. Barely, but still afloat.

Jean sighed while he got himself up that day. Ro did give him a picture he drew as an early birthday gift, but in all honesty it made him more hurt. He accepted the picture and gave Ro a quick hug before resorting back to him room where he can be alone again.

Maybe it's supposed to be this way? Maybe my father was right when he said I won't ever be wanted and nothing can amount to me being alive..maybe- haah

Jean knew that today would be a day that he would find sanctuary in the water he called home. Into the sea that kept all his memories and watched him grow. His family. A thing that would never leave him. After he left his room to get to his car he was trying to drown out so much. Little did he know what was to come later that day.

To the ocean I go. The only one that gives me the warmth I give to them. I'm coming.

After making sure everything was neatly organized for the kid she walked over to him and patted his shoulder, "let me know if you need anything, just text." She said with a smile but looked up when she heard foot steps upstairs, "gotta go." She said to the kid and turned to go up the basement stairs. Behind her she locked the door then stuck caution tape to it for a little extra Halloween spookiness.
Already people were spilling in to the house and she started playing a Halloween playlist that was bluetoothed to her phone. Slipping her phone into the pocket she had sewn into her dress, she went back up to her room to pull on her shoes, deciding to go with some flats instead of heels. After checking on her messages from Tatum she sighed and went back downstairs to grab herself a drink. In the kitchen there were two girls talking, one seeming to already be tipsy and she was happy they were having fun.
Calla had been worrying all week whether this party was going to be lame or not, but from what she could tell so far people were having fun. Opting for a cooler from the fridge, Calla went to seek out Nico and when she eventually found him she looked somewhat flustered, "so I gave Oli some snacks and pop and stuff so I think he's all set, if I forget to, I task you to send a check up text every now and then." She told him, "he still hasn't talked yet..." She said, somewhat worried but could tell that the kid was somewhat content. Maybe she could get him something that interests him. She saw the book about turtles on the coffee table down there... Maybe she could get him a new book?
Looking at Nico she bit her lip. While things haven't been awkward since the beach night, they still haven't talked about what happened and she was kinda sad about it. "Do you uh.. Need anything before all this gets too crazy?" She asked taking a long, long sip from her cooler, waiting for his answer as Thriller played in the background.

Tatum Browne

It was Halloween and everyone was out going to parties or functions and Tatum was at home bored. She had hoped to spend time with Ryker he had been distant for a bit now and she was starting to get upset by the whole situation. They had spent so much time together he had even let her stay over and then suddenly when she had gone home not feeling well, she went to check in with him and he had been mostly silent. She would occasionally get one-word responses from him but otherwise it had been absolute silence. Was he mad? Was it because he made breakfast and she got sick? Did he get mad because she got sick? He couldn’t be that self-absorbed, he had never been before.

Instead, she messaged another friend in hopes that he was available and didn’t want to party. Wishful thinking but she hated being in the house alone. Hated being alone with her thoughts, her inner demons. She loved having company and of course her parents decided to go to the Halloween function, some stupid business function and there would be alcohol so Tatum couldn’t go. It was a relief when Hudson had agreed to hang out with her and watch some scary movies. She wouldn’t have to be alone after all and he was enjoyable company.

When she heard the knock at her door, she quickly popped off the couch to open the door for him. It was nice to see a friendly face, she quickly wrapped her arms around him in a hug, “I’m glad you could come. It would be way too boring otherwise.” Hudson was one of the few people that had known Tatum during her less than ideal years. Times when she was either drunk, high, or a combination and yet he had chosen to stick around her and wanted to be around her while she was working hard on her sobriety.

When she pulled away from the hug she led him to the living room, blankets and pillows set up for extra comfort and movies laid in front of them. “I figured we could start with The Shining.” The case held up in front of Hudson’s face, “I did say I would make it happen and my father does have quite the movie collection.” It would be a fun night. She popped the disk into the player and got herself settled ready for a night of candy and movies with at least one person who didn’t ignore her.

Hudson smiled when Tatum opened the door and hugged the girl back in a tight hug, "hey it's good to see you." He told her, genuinely meaning it. Hudson had seen her go through the worst, and stuck around because while partying with her had been fun, he wasn't friends with her just for the booze and drugs... He did that all for himself. Tatum was just his good friend that happened to spiral from the antics. Following her inside, he dropped his longboard by the door and kicked off his shoes as well as took off the stupid devil horns before he went with her to the living room.
As the girl held up the Shining in front of him a smirk touched his lips, "Mr. Browne has great taste in movies." He said with approval and went to the couch, opening his backpack to lay out their choices of snacks and drinks, making sure the cabbage patch kids dropped dramatically to emphasize their presence, "and I got the goods." He told her in a teasing tone and opened up the bag of chips, not caring much for a bowl to put them in. Of course Halloween candy would've been appropriate for the night, the towns kids seemed to have cleared the shelves from such delicacies.
"So," Hudson said, observing the movie selection, with his elbows on his knees and his eyes squinted some, "I say Shining first, Rocky Horror second, then end with the Conjuring?" He asked the girl, leaning back off his elbows into a relaxed position on the couch, gathering up some blankets to be cozy and popping a chip into his mouth. "Unless you're too scaaared." He joked, keeping his focus on her until she sat and plopped some of the blanket down on her to cozy up as well. While AB was cold, but not cold cold, cozy nights were a must for the surfer boy.

TL;DR
Max makes a stupid decision to join Jo, Alexei, and Carson on a Halloween night of dubiously-legal adventuring
tl;dr
Max Berkowitz

We accept the love we think we deserve.

It was a cool, crisp Halloween evening in Anchor Bay. An eerie full moon had just started to rise over the horizon, perfectly setting the mood for those who believed that undead creatures of the dark would be out roaming tonight.

Max nervously tapped his hands on the steering wheel of his navy blue Honda Civic, dreading every corner he turned on the increasingly narrow old roads. Though he drove like a paranoid grandmother, well below the speed limit, he still somehow felt as though he were hurtling towards his death. If he didn’t make it to this supposedly-haunted Arrowhead School alive, he’d be failing the bookstore and might as well spend the rest of eternity in ghostly shame.

A girl named Carson, who Max sort of knew through social media osmosis, had found some old bookstore archival materials regarding one of New England’s oldest standing schools. The Arrowhead school had rumors floating around it like a thick fog: everything from ghosts to demon dogs. Though Max had never learned any of this before, as soon as Carson had recruited his coworker Jo and Jo’s boyfriend Alexei (who was definitely stealing books on a regular basis), he was stubbornly insisting on coming along because now it was bookstore business.

Why a deaf teenager was being allowed to tag along with a bunch of college-aged young adults on a Halloween abandoned building adventure was anyone’s guess.

After helplessly circling around the building, doubting the credibility of Google Maps that he was in the right place, he finally spotted Carson standing outside the dilapidated fenced-in building. Just looking at the place gave Max chills– the red paint on the doors and windows was chipped and peeling away to reveal the old wood beneath, some of the front steps had cracked and caved in, and the landscaping had obviously not been touched in many a year. The old elms surrounding the property, their leaves falling and scattered like an orange carpet on the dry grass, cast long clawed shadows over the whole street. Max found a place to park his car, fumbling a bit trying to turn the engine off, and ran out to meet Carson.

“Hey Carson.” His voice sounded a little strained and a little too loud, and did little to hide his nervousness. “Uh… how are you?”

He really hoped she wouldn’t return the question.

Max didn’t know how he was doing.

A lot had changed in his life since the start of school, not the least of which was his sort-of-secret relationship with Ronan. Though Max was still in the closet and Ronan was still healing from an abusive breakup, it had been going… well, it was alright. Or at least Max hoped it was alright. The truth was that Max was tearing himself to shreds trying desperately to please Ronan, trying to be the perfect boyfriend, and he was quickly realizing how horribly insecure and inexperienced he was. It was a learning experience for sure, but he was terrified of just becoming a mistake in Ronan’s past. This had to work. Even if Max was scared of sex, emotional intimacy, his own gay identity… everything about it. Worrying about being a bad boyfriend was only the latest in the dozens of things keeping him up at night.

So by comparison, it was almost relieving to just be trespassing on abandoned property with his coworker, his coworker’s incredibly suspicious boyfriend, and a girl he only sort of knew. This would really be putting his lip reading skills to the test, but it wasn’t like he really needed to understand everything that got said, right? He’d just pick up the context as he went along… probably.

Blu
the faker
Blu smiles as she got ready for the party. She was texting Del who was whinning that she was gonna drink herself silly if she didn't get there soon. There was also pictures sent of Everleigh trick or treating in the mix of that as well. Of course she wished that she could have gone trick or treating with her little one, and her mom but since the diner was opened tonight, and she gave Liv and Della the night off. Someone had to be there. She can't wait until Isa's back in town. She needs her favorite manager back. But now she's ready to go out and have some light drinking fun.

Someone has to keep an eye on Del, with a sober thinking mind. The way she's about to party tonight. They had hung out a couple of times since the night at Del's home but...there was almost like a tension when they do. It was like they each wanted something that the other didn't know. Now Blu knows what she wanted...even with having Derrick around which is a whole another problem on its own. She wanted Della and her little girl in her life...in more ways than one. She just didn't know what Della's wanted...who she wanted. The almost kiss was constantly on her mind, making her trip up at work at times especially if the young mother was working. She had to keep reminding herself that she had Derrick..or did have Derrick.

After a few weeks of dating, it wasn't working. He wanted something from her that she didn't want to give to him. And the pressure he's giving her wasn't helping with her feelings either. Now, she's done with him. Blu loved him yea, and she liked him but she wasn't in love with him and she definitely was over liking him. He showed her that even with hope, he couldn't be anything more but a fuck boy. Someone who thought of sex as something that was little and nonimportant while Blu saw it as something that you give to someone you truly love...someone you cherish. Someone you trusted especially if it's your first time, and it was hers. And Derrick was none of those things right now. He wasn't even to the point that he could be called a friend anymore.

Once she was finished getting ready, she walked to her car and drove off. She was breaking up with him after tonight. Derrick had enough chances and he keeps on hurting her without any remorse for her heart or her feelings. He wasn't the man that she was hoping he was or the friend that she needed either. She was just done with him. Blu couldn't be with him any longer, especially since her feelings for Della were growing with every minute that she spent with her and her adorable girl. She doesn't want that to go away either, she would live with the pain. All she wanted was to spend her time by her side. All she wanted was for her to be happy...she deserve that. Her little one does too. She gets to the party and parks. Got out of the car, and walked into the party.

Looking for Della, she spots her almost immediately. Walking up to her, she sees that she was talking to Odette and Blu swiftly comes up and grabbed Del's hand. They had been one of those types of friends that loved physical contact with each other. Almost every time they were together, they were cuddling on the couch or holding each other hands. It didn't help Blu's hand at all but she didn't have the heart to refused not that she would have. She looked at Odette "She's with me." Blu shook her hand stuttering "I-i-i mean not with with me but she's waiting for me. "

Blu blushed softly and smiles half heartedly.

This Odette girl was fun to talk to. She was open about who she knew in the town, what the town was like, and what usually went on. Of course the girl was different though, she had just moved back after being gone for a few years. As Della drank more she couldn't seem to stop talking about Blu and her possible feelings for the girl. But Odette gave good advice on how to handle the situation, "just figure yourself out... you've been in a relationship since high school so maybe you aren't fully straight." The girl told Della and she sighed, just even more confused now.
Della shot a smile between Blu and Odette when Blu came up and grabbed her hand then spun Blu around to look at her outfit, subtly checking the girl out as she did so, "Harley, I love it!" She laughed and grabbed her cup off the counter to lead Blu away from Odette, blushing when Odette's "the tension, good luck you two!" Was it that obvious? Della knew it was there but had hoped it wasn't noticeable to anyone. The two women for the last couple of weeks had a tight chord between them, pushing them away when things got too obvious but pulling them right back together.
Taking a sip from the cup, Della was just glad she had chosen the green flats to go with her costume. "Everleigh had of course picked my outfit." The girl did a small spin for Blu, doing a little pose at the end then laughed. The alcohol was definitely taking affect on her. Where she could drink a whole bottle of wine to herself and hardly feel it, the hard alcohol hit a little different. "ugh I missed your beautiful face." Della said and hooked her arm around Blu's waist with a smile, "sorry for leaving you hanging at the diner today..." She said with a pouty lip.
"And sorry about Derrick. He's a dick..." She said, resting her head on Blu's shoulder. Della couldn't stand the guy. Though she never met him, everything he does on Twitter is revolting and gross. To not only Blu but literally everyone in the town. "But we can have our fun to take your mind off it." She said, nodding to the drink in Blu's hand with a smile on her lips. She wanted nothing more than to cheer Blu up, and maybe drink to forget her feelings for the night... Though the drinks seem to be changing by making her feelings worse... Maybe she just needed to get laid...
