EDIT I double checked in the book and yes, we get one free dot in each Virtue before the seven dots awarded through character generation.

I think you start with one in each. The character sheet has a dot in each to start and the book pictures it too.

You can take more if you don’t take the freebie points from them. Just don’t go crazy. And don’t go over 7 freebie points gained from Flaws.

You do indeed start with 1 in each Virtue. Unless you are on a Path that uses Instict and/or Conviction.

I'm still toying with the idea of going with the Flaw Permanent Wound instead of Repelled by Crosses. The only downside is starting out with the injury every night; even if it would work with my character's background. Thoughts on this from the assembled masses?

Effectively it's a drain on your Bloodpool, and having Generation 5, that shouldn't be too hard on you. That said, it can get pretty annoying.

Repelled by crosses is also more likely to be entertaining if it comes up in play.

I’d like you all to know each other and have worked together at lease once. You won’t necessarily start together, unless you want to, but at least you’ll have each other as resources if you need help. You don’t need to be friends, unless you want to, but at least start allies.

I was planning on having Roxanne arrive in Chicago on day 1, but she's getting pretty close to Claire on Discord atm, so she'll be happy to join the others if Claire is.

Claire is well set to be a hub character, given her spread of backgrounds. Easy enough to befriend a cop, particularly if she's reasonably moral.

I have no problem having Clare as a friend, since it is unlikely that I would have run into her on a professional basis (I hope). It would be a interesting friendship; since I never knew that you were a vampire until I got Embraced a few weeks ago.
