Sean laughed again, embracing his old friend. His hug is weak but enthusiastic. "Not so well.", he admits with a smile, pulling back and looking at Lach from arms length. He adds jokingly, "It seems to be makin' you fat. How is that?" Then he turns to the others in his small group and clears his throat. "Lachlan, you've met Jason. Jason, this is an old friend of mine. Lach. The girl we call Max and she says the boy is Joey." He remembers Lachlan's daughter when he looks at Max but doesn't ask about her. She's not with him and that's all he needs to know for now.

The man nodded in the direction of the man, smiled at the boy and make a tiny nod toward the girl.

"Hey you'll thank my fat ass if you get caught in something!" Lachlan laughed. He was truly happy to see his friend, he at least had someone he knew from before it all began.

"So what's your plan Sean?"

"Well, for now. We were checkin' that place out.", Sean says, pointing toward the little compound. "We should probably get goin' too." The horde isn't travelling fast, but they can be heard coming through the trees. Not to mention the smell was getting unbearable even at this distance. He would reveal the rest of his plan to Lachlan and the other's later. He hadn't gotten a chance to do so yet. He hadn't gotten a chance to do anything but run in days.

"Alright buddy." Lachlan said cheerfully, "Lets get going then."

Lachlan began to walk toward the compound. He could already hear the moans of the dead nearby. He turned around and relayed this information to the group.

Sean nodded, looking over at Carter, with Joey in her small arms. The little boy was holding on to her tightly, her shirt balled up in his tiny fist. He was shaking. And whimpering, cold even with the heavy flannel wrapped around him. Sean reached into his pack and pulled out a camoflauged beanie cap. He moved over to the two youn people and put the hat down on Joey's bare head. Then he glanced over at Jason, "I'm stickin' with Lachlan. And I'm headed to that substation. We both want these kids safe, and we both wanna be safe. We need to stay together for now to make that happen...", he outstretches his arm to Jason, offering his hand, "Lead the approach, brother."

Jason lowered the M16A2 slowly and took Sean's hand. He looked at Lachlan. "I still don't trust you, and I will keep a keen eye on you, but if Sean can vouch for you, you're in....for now" Jason said begrudgingly. "Give me the slightest reason, my friend, and I will kill you and take all your shit with no remorse" Jason said menacingly. He then smiled "But on the bright side, you got me protecting you now, and trust me, that's a good thing"

Sean laughed tiredly as he shook his head. The shammbling and moans of the dead were getting louder, just as Lachlan had said. The smell was awful. He let go of Jason's hand and placed it on the handle of his knife. They needed to go now and quickly. Sean turned away from the rest of the group, to follow Lachlan in the direction of the substation. From here the area looked totally clear, but Sean's eyesight wasn't great and the sounds of the horde were blocking out any other corpses that may be sneaking around up ahead. "The gate is still locked...", he observed, looking over at Jason. He could see the chain and padlock still, wrapped up around the large metal gate. "What's the plan?"

"We make a perimeter search, around the entire station, and after that we look for somewhere we can get in that's less obvious, like this gate, so we'll have a stealthy upper hand on any inhabitants." Jason said, and just then, a woman with a Crossbow aimed at them from the right. Jason couldn't believe he hadn't spotted her sooner. "Who the hell are-" she began, but Jason already had thrown his hatchet. It buried in the woman's head, and she fell dead. "Jesus Christ. The dead ones are at least predictable" Jason said, unloaded by the sudden burst of violence.

(Unphased, not Unloaded)

Sean's mouth hung open. He had started to speak, but the hatchet flew too quickly. "S**t, Jason.", he growled quietly. He jogged over and yanked the hatchet out of the girl's skull, then picked up the crossbow she had dropped when she fell.He turned around, holding them in each hand. "What the hell was that?" His face was twisted up in anger. Maybe there were people here already, but did that matter? They could have joined with them and survived together. Now, once again, Jason had acted too quickly. Possibly ruining their chances to make peace with those inside. He thew the hatchet hard at the ground in front of Jason. It stuck three inches in the permafrost. He thust the crossbow into Lachlan's hands. "You know what....". he said, slowly trailing off. He turned to look at the substation. "Just follow me." Then with a grunt, he started to climb the fence. He was over in seconds, dropping down onto the snow inside. He looked around, getting low and pulling out his hunting knife. There were no tracks.

Jason threw a hand out and grabbed Sean by the arm violently. "Hey, pal, watch it. She drew on us, and for all I know, she could have killed us. This is our group, just the four of us, and its us against the God damned world. We need to do whatever necessary to protect ourselves. You got a problem with me killing her, say it" Jason said seriously.

Sean looked over at Jason, holding onto the fence. Ready to climb over. His tired eyes were blazing. "We'll talk about it later. Follow me in. Or keep watch. I don't care.", he said, shaking Jason's strong grip off with ease and continuing over the fence. Once he was over he looked around, and saw no tracks. He took off. Dissapearing behind the building. He checked the area around it, finding nothing. Then peeked into the small window. The one room building was completely empty. He walked around to the door and checked it. It was locked.

Jason looked around and then helped Carter over the fence. He then hopped the fence, and following Sean, he stopped at the locked door. "Think it's worth the effort? Busting in, I mean?" Jason asked, preparing to let Door meet Boot.

Sean shook his head. "The noise.", he said quietly. Carter, with the toddler in her arms, was behind them. Lachlan came around the corner as Sean was pulling some loose tools from his pack. With a screwdriver he started to remove the door knob, his hands moving quickly and expertly.

"That was my second idea" Jason said truthfully, and he kept a eye out. On the far end of the station, Jason saw a flash. The sun reflecting off a Sniper Scope. "Down!" Jason yelled, and Jason pulled Sean and Carter to the floor, leaving the frozen Lachlan standing. The shot hit right where Sean as. Jason got up, shoved Lachlan down, and as Lachlan went to the floor, Jason grabbed the Crossbow, aiming it swiftly at the sniper and firing. He sees the arrow dig into the area around the Sniper, not hitting him, but the Sniper was scared so he backed off. "You take cover, I'm going in!" Jason yelled. He ran at the Sniper Nest, the Sniper still not showing his face, with the Crossbow and M16A2 in tow.

The door knob fell off into the snow and Sean ushered the children in. He helped Lachlan off the ground and pushed him inside as well. "Stay low.", he told them as he shut the door. Then followed Jason. Before he could go far, Sean grabbed him by the shoulder. "Not the time.", he said gruffly, his eyes wide. He looked up into the trees, where the dead could be seen now. They were coming quickly. Small trees were falling in their wake. "They will deal with him. We need to hide."

"Gah...alright, alright" Jason agreed, and he sprinted back towards the house. He got inside and dropped to the floor just as another sniper shot sounded.

Sean followed Jason and the others into the small buiding. Inside there were controls along the walls and a small office. There was a large metak desk, covered in papers and tall filing cabinet stood against one wall by a flimsy wooden door. The door stood open and there was a tiny bathroom inside. Just a toilet and a sink, with some toiletries and cleaners on a wire shelf. "Help me move this quietly.", he whispered to Jason and Lachlan as he grabbed one end of the desk. "Turn it on it's top, up against the front door." His heart was beating fast.

Jason calmly did so, and he then gathered his M16A2 and looked out the window. He saw no sign of the dead. "What...the walkers stopped...following?" Jason said, stammering. Then he heard it -- the helicopters. Jason had flashbacks of when he saw NYC be bombed.

After the three of them pushed the desk up against the door, he went to push the filing cabinet in front of the only window, the one Jason was standing near. "What...the walkers stopped...following?", Jason said. Sean blinked at him, then went to look as well. He stared in disbelief at the empty forest. It had just been full of corpses. Now they were gone. "They're following that helicopter...", he observed, hearing the hum of it's blades. It was flying fairly low, he could tell by the sound. He looked over at Jason, who was beside him and a huge smile spread across his exhausted and bloody face. "S**t...", he sighed with relief, turning and letting himself slide down the brick wall to sit on the floor.

Then, there was a huge boom. The Helicopter had been hit by some type of explosive from the ground. "The rebels. Shit. New York is in a state of Rebellion after the bombing of NYC. I got caught in the initial conflict before I met you guys. We need to move" Jason said.

Sean had jumped to his feet when he heard the explosion. He looked over at Jason with wide eyes. "We can't leave.", he said slowly. Looking over at the little girl and the baby, then back to Jason. He walked over to the younger man and looked out the window. At the smoke. He rubbed his face, smearing droplets of blood around. "We will die out there...either corpses or explosions...we have a damn baby..."

"There's got to be someplace, someplace better. There's gotta be. As long as we're smart, we'll survive. But we can't stay here" Jason said, and he put a hand on Sean's shoulder. "We need to go" he said matter-of-factly.

Sean looked Jason in the eyes before looking back out the small window. The sun was coming up outside, above the trees and smoke. That made five days that Sean hadn't slept. "You're right." He took a deep breath and looked back at the kids, huddling on the floor. "Are y...", he started, then he saw it. What he thought it was, anyway. "Get up." He walked over to where they are. When Carter stood, Sean's face lit up. It was what he had hoped. Underneath where the two children had been sitting was a metal trap door.

"What the hell?" Jason asked no one in particular. The Children stayed frozen. "Up!" Jason said, laughing, and he pulled them to our feet. "This could be fucking miracle, if we're lucky" Jason said, and he looked up at Sean hopefully. "Want me to 'Lead the Approach'?"

Sean laughed and crouched down, "Yeah.", he said as the handle creaked as he turned it. He looked up at the other's, "Get ready.", he warned. He glanced at Jason to make sure he was prepared before pulling the hatch open. It was heavy so Sean lowered it to the concrete floor carefully so that it wouldn't make a sound. Just inside the beginning of a ladder could be seen, but beneath that was nothing but blackness. "Anyone got a flashlight?"
