Village Hidden in the Dark

My breathing is slow and heavy, and my eyes are red and raw from the constant flow of blood-like tears. I'm trembling, trying to pull myself together.


He speaks to me softly, and plants another kiss on my forehead, making me grit my teeth slightly.


I'm weak.


"Thank you, Zero." I whisper as we stare into each other's eyes for what seems like days.


"You can protect me from outside evils..." my breath is warm against his chin. "...But you can't protect me from myself."


My heart has picked up speed, and all the fibers in my body are screaming for me to leave.


Get out, before he stirs up that fucking ache...


I ignore it needing something, anything, to quiet the screams in my head.


I need release.


I close the gap between our faces, pressing my lips to his and kissing him intensely.

 

[Sakuto]

I pressed back just as intense holding Tsukimi giving her some of my chakra to heal her eyes as I close my enjoying the kiss hoping its calming Tsukimi down also being my first kiss . "I love you" I say in the kiss.

Every time our lips moved, it sent a surge of warmth coursing through my body.


My cheeks burn, his chakra entering my body feeling like a rush of warm water burning into my skin.


I move so that I'm perched on top of him, my hair falling around our faces, sealing us in a shroud of black.


"I love you "


The words ram into my chest, and my mind swims again.


That wave...


My stomach flips and within a heartbeat I push off him, stumbling off the bed and pressing my back against the wall.


I stare, down at the floor. A veil of dark locks covering my face for a long moment.


"I..." I try and form words, but the cotton in my throat is betraying me. "I can't... "


I don't know what to say. Don't know what to feel


And Mei's yellow eyes are burning holes into my skull.


Mei... had always loved Zero.


And now he loves me.


"I'm sorry." I whisper, to Mei, even though I know she's gone.


I can still feel her next to me.


Without warning I shoot out of the room and fly by Yuuno and Rinn. The redhead stands, arm outstretched. "Tsukimi--"


But I don't stop to listen to him.


I don't stop when Yuuno yells after me either, or Zero, or anyone.


I race to the end of the dock branching off the back of Sakuto's home and fall to my knees just before the dropoff into the swirling waves.


"Zero is sooo cool!" Mei swooned, pink hair tied up. Bangs fell just above her thin eyebrows.


"Oh, whatever." I scoffed, eyeing the Uchiha from afar.


He was training, shirt tied around his waist, sweat dripping from his skin.


I never understood her allure to him, how she watched him move with such awe. "You're so strange Tsukimi." She breathed, laying her head on my shoulder. "Every girl loves Zero!"


I shook my head, slightly annoyed.


"I'm not every girl."


"Well good. That means he's all mine!" She said with a giggle... a laugh that sounded like bells chiming in the wind. A laugh that could make even the most heartless of creatures smile.


And I did.


"He's all yours, Mei."


My stomach lurches, and I heave. Spilling bile and what was left of breakfast into the seafoam below. I spit, only to have the sickness wash over me again.


My abdomen flexes, emptying my belly until I'm stuck gagging and gritting my teeth.


I'm.


A monster.

 

[Sakuto]

I Run after and Rinn stopped me asking what the hell did I do.


"Nothing!" I say worried as i run past them and walks slowly torward you then suddenly see what your thinking.


"Mei...liked...me?" I say to myself. "I only liked Tsukimi, how could she have liked me" I keep thjnking.

Footsteps behind me shake my mind. I turn quickly, to see Zero. I wipe spit from my mouth with the back of my hand, and swipe away tears that have formed from the vomiting that had suddenly taken over.


"What?" I ask, spitting into the sea again.


I turn so he can't see my face. So he can't see the disgust in my eyes, or the expression of agony on my brow.


I can't forgive myself.


I won't be able to.

 

[Sakuto]

"I dont understand how Mei could like me when she knew I always liked you" I say as I walked up to Tsukimi and huged from behind.

I feel a sense of dread wash over me when he wraps his arms around my body. I want to rip away from him.


Because this is wrong.


To me.


"I never liked you, Zero." I admit, pushing away from him so I can stare into his eyes. "I never liked anyone."


I glance away from him again, trying to settle my heart rate. The rhythm shaking my ribs. "Not even Mei..." the pile of vowels that fly from my lips makes my stomach sink.


The truth hitting me hard.


"You don't know what you have... until it's gone."

 

[Sakuto]

i look down and looks up into the sky speechless then hugs you agian.


"She would Understand, besides...you may have not liked me before but...what about now?" I ask whispering trying not to let tears fall.

He attempts to wrap around me again, and I stand, refusing to allow the physical contact.


My eyes are glowing, red and blue tints against my face.


"Zero." I say, sharp and simple. But the red keeps pouring down my face, even though my expression shows nothing.


Not even trembling lips.


That ache is clawing at my heart, as if Mei was sliding her nails against the organ.


"Jinchūriki are dying, and you're worried about how I feel about you?" I grit my teeth, hating the words that are forming on my tongue.


I recoil, taking a step back.


"You..." I can't think. "You make this pain--" I grip a clenched fist to my chest. "I can't stand it."

 

[Sakuto]

I sigh and I dont say a word as I dissapear into the forest without a trace as Sakuto walks out thinki g in inside.


"Cmon Tsukimi and get inside its going to rain" Sakuto says as he waits at the door.

I watch Zero run off, his hair dull in the unforgiving cloudy environment. My teeth grind together so harshly I'm afraid the enamel might shatter.


Sakuto calls for me to get inside, and I shoot him a glance without speaking.


I take off.


"Zero!" I call out, entering the forest.


I crouch down, searching the grounds, and following a trail of broken bramble.


The trail goes stale, so I take to the trees, searching for the trail once more.


"Zero!" I call again, my breath ragged and frantic.


"You're heartless..."


I almost jump out of my skin, whipping around to see a cloaked shinobi, their face covered by the shadows of their hood. "Just like an Akane should be." A chuckle falls from his lips.


"W--" I'm cut off with a blow to the stomach.


I'm weightless for a moment.


My head slams into a branch as I fall, flipping me over.


My torso makes contact with another arm of the tree, stopping me. My lungs heave, and I gather myself. I pull up and perch on the wood.


Rain begins to pour.


My enemy is nowhere to be found.


And I've lost Zero.

 

[Sakuto]

Sakuto finds you and takes you inside as he heals you.


"What happend back there" he says.


Its been 3 weeks I have not returned and all thats left of me is the scarf I gave you a long time ago and every one has become stronger since Sakuto has finished your trainings.


Off in a destroyrd village, Zero is walking through the dirt and rubble his eternal mangekyo activated, he had killed all the demons there and over the course of the 3 weeks going to villages killing demons for traoning and the fun of it as he gathers more information on Zaku's hideout he continues walking heading to the leaf village hoping Zaku hasnt struck yet.

I stare down my Sensei, chest heaving. Blood is dripping from my fingers, my vision blurring in and out of focus.


Sakuto keeps switching between being my prey, and being an opponent. The smile on my lips keeps twitching at the corners of my mouth.


I wipe a drop of blood off my cheek. We'd been sparring for an hour now, and the ache in my chest hasn't left since the day Zero had.


It's tearing me apart.


I make my hand into a fist, blood hardening into a long thick blade.


I pounce, aiming to slash Sakuto across the chest.


Yuuno and Rinn stand on the sidelines, watching my movements carefully.


They've learned to pay attention to my movements, ordered to intervene if I lose control.


I've injured them both several times, and the hospital knows us all by name.


But I'm learning.

 

[Sakuto]

Sakuto was able to block but by just barley.


"Good, your blood-technques have gotten even better!" He says smiling.


"Lets take a break and go out to eat" He adds as he takes everyone out to eat after they change into cleaner clothes and during the lunch Sakuto overhears villager's talking.


"Yea, all the Jinkuriki have been caputred which is a sad thing" said villager 1.


"Well, I hear the remaining member of the Uchiha Clan Zero is closing in on the culprit, theyres even been rumors and sights of him destorying an army of demons at the Stone village, whipping them all out completely with one lighting attack!" said villager 2.


"Heh, Who knows if he can stand up to the cuplrit rumor has it it's that one Zaku guy that was beaten years ago then sealed up but broke out of his prison" Said villager 2. They continue there conversation in the booth before walking outside.


"Damnit Zero, you dissapear for 3 weeks and now we here that your killing demons and try going after Zaku all by yourself.." Sakuto muttered under his breath angered but worried.


"Did you guy's here what they said?" Sakuto says asking.

I'm sitting next to Rinn, his leg jiggling under the table as he gnaws on the bones of the chicken carcass he'd just devoured. Rumors have been spreading of Zero's attacks, and every time his name pops up my stomach flips.


"I heard." I say dully. Yuuno's hair has grown out, and I notice how attractive she is without being bald.


However she seems irritated with the new follicles, constantly scratching her head and pulling on the strands to see how far she's gone.


It makes her look like an ice queen. "Yeah yeah. Zero ran off and got himself another headline." She scoffs and stretches with a yawn. "He's going to get himself killed."


"We have to help him." I blurt out, making Rinn almost choke on a sliver of bone.


I pat his back.


"You're crazy." He says, black eyes bearing into mine. "You've barely mastered your blood-release. Not to mention how shaky you are with the Dead Bone Pulse, and your shadow-possesion needs work"


"And you smell like a dog, and your fire-style could barely warm my feet." Yuuno snaps, trying to stick up for me.


I ignore it, and stand up abruptly.


I haven't touched my food.


"We have to."

 

[Sakuto]

Sakuto sighs and speaks


"She's right, if its true that all 9 beasts have been Caputred, Zero's going into a one sided battle and he will most likely die" He says as he stands up. "We best try to follow the chakra trail and look for any more rumors of his apperance before its too late". He adds.


At a wasteland, Zero finds himself infront of the Hideout Zaku is taking refuge in. Having disposed of the demons in an instant Zero blasts the doors open, The Gedo Mazou (A Wooden thing That traps the Tailed beasts, its in the Wiki) Is Summoned in the far back sealed in a barrier as it Slowly transforms into the 10 tails.


"Ah Zero, the arrogant remaing Uchiha makes his stand in hopes to stop me" Zaku says walking down from his throne.


"Your too late, Ive already trapped all the beasts and the Gedo Mazou is slowly turning into the 10 tails and once I kill you and absorb that, I will go and search for the remaning 11-13 tailed beast and I will have powers that surpass the sage of six paths.


"Your full of shit!" I growled as I raised my chakra to unbelievable levels the ground shaking and cracking as the battle that would change the landscape its self was about to begin


Later at the Village of Water Sakuto senses the heavy chakra spike.


"What...What the hell is all that chakra..its...enormous!!" He says lo0king around frantically

The surge of energy washed over us, making me almost lose my footing.


It was a familiar chakra, mixed in with a darkening aura that chilled me to the bone. I met Sakuto's blue eyes, a flash of lightning breaking the heavens and lighting up Yuuno's face.


Rinn scrunched up his nose, and placed his hand over his nostrils and mouth. "Damn, do you smell that?" He sneered.


"It's Zero." I murmured and grabbed hold of my Sensei's sleeve.


"That's not Zero. His chakra smells like lightning. This.... this smells like a corpse on fire." Rinn pointed out, trying hard not to gag.


"We have to go!" I demanded, gritting my teeth. "Now!"

 

[Sakuto]

"damnit zero dont die before we get there!!" Sakuto runs off with you, rinn and Yunno. As the closer you get, the higher and denser the Chakara levels become and after 30 minutes both chakra levels dissaper but an ominous chakra fills the air as well as an evil laughter.


"heh..you...beat me...but...you wont...get my eyes!" I say as I do a sealing jutsu on my eyes to ptevent my sharigan or Rinnegan to be acivated before falling to the ground in defeat.


"Grr. I cant use the full sage of 6 paths power now but Ill have the Jinkuriki...the 10 Tails revival will be slower so I might as well posses Zero for now while i search for yhe rest" He says under his breath before Laughing evily and leaving my body there secretly possessed as he goes off to gather the remaining 3 beasts.

We get there within a few minutes, our chests heaving.


Rinn has his hand still clutched over his nose, and every step we take closer to Zaku it seems to become more unbearable.


My eyes fall on Zero... face down on the ground.


My heart leaps into my throat and I race to him, almost tripping over a root that was poking out of the earth.


I stumble and fall to my knees next to him, my throat clogged with cotton again. "Zero?" My voice trembles.


"Zero...I never meant... I didn't... " I can't make the words, my brain betraying me once more.

 

[Sakuto]

"TSUKIMI GET BACK" Sakuto pulls Tsukimi back before I could get you with my kunai and a mixed evil laughter is heard out of my body.


"Your too late your preicous Zero is mine!!" I said grinning evily my Eyes stained all black due to the fact I sealed my own Eyes.


"Oh no.." Sakuto gasped.


"You have no choice but to fight your own comrade in hopes to try and stop me" I laughed the battle scars from the battle still on me


"So are you ready to kill your own comrade to save the world?" I add a twisted grin on my face

I stare deep into the black eyes that looks foreign against Zero's face. The voice that filters through his throat is altered and twisted, making my teeth grit.


I shove Sakuto off me, stepping forward a few inches.


"Yuuno, Rinn, Sakuto-Sensei." I say without tearing my gaze away from the Uchiha, scarred and bruised. "Follow Zaku's trail, I'll take care of Zero."


"Tsukimi...you'll kill--"


"I said go" I snap, my eyes glowing.

 

[Sakuto]

"So, facing your friend all alone, Are you really going to kill the only one whos ever loved you?" I Say laughing evily coughing abit from the body being weak. "Grr, Zero used up so much chakra during our fight...oh well it should be enough to take care of the likes of you" I say walking close to you.


"Ready to die?" I say laughing evily

I stand my ground, staring into those two black orbs. He's without the power of the Sharingan, and with what little chakra he has...


"That's where you're wrong." I hiss, and cast my shadow possession before either of us can get another word in, attempting to keep him within my reach.


I refrain from drawing my own blood, anxious to see what Zaku can do in the body of the one of the only people I have ever known to care for me... or that I could have possibly loved.


"I'm Tsukimi Akane, of the village Hidden in the Dark... and love is nothing but an emotion." My chakra builds in my veins.


"Zaku... you are now my prey. Zero will understand. Once he wakes up he'll see how strong I've gotten... and you'll be a pile of ash."

 

[Sakuto]

"Ahahha!, Foolish little girl the only way you can break my possestion is to kill him!" I grin a twisted smile.


"Or even better, Ill kill make him kill himself" He grins and was about to stab my hear but was put under possetion.


"W-what...i-i cant move!!" I yell frustrated

It worked.


I take a step forward, making my opponent mimic my movements. "You got too cocky, Zaku." I chuckle, lifting my hand to my lips. The scars along my skin are soft white bumps, perfect sculptors of my dental imprint. "Did you really think I'd let you move about so freely?" I ask, my teeth inches from breaking my flesh. "You underestimate me, prey"


crunch!


We both bear down out canines into the soft plush of our thumbs, blood splashing across our faces.


I flick my wrist, casting a whip of blood to shoot towards Zero's possessed body, hoping the small jolt of pain is enough to wake him.
