BYRGENWERTH ACADEMY

Ello loves! This is where I explain the education system and how students will be earning their levels/experience to grow throughout the roleplay.

How this is going to work is that doing certain activities during class time and combat training will net you points for THAT specific character. There are multiple ways to earn points, one way being the reason above and another being during the time skips.

Time skips are going to be a regular thing in this roleplay to keep things fresh, moving, and so you can really see the progression of your character's abilities, relationships, and of the main storyline. Events will be created from time to time for bonus levels and for some roleplaying fun.

Once you have earned said points, you are free to tag or PM myself or one of my staff to have your character updated.

Now, the education/growth system works as follows. New recruits will start off anywhere from 3-4 points according to their CS quality. I will allocate these starter points according to the talents you chose in your CS. This will also apply to your Blood Levels/ Mana Pool.

The amount of Education Points, or EP you earn from the time skips are spent on proficiency levels, max MP/BL, New spells, Rune Crafting, Beast Control or Blood Efficiency. I will quickly go over what happens when you put points into each of these trees is.

Proficiency levels applies to both vampires and humans. Increasing this will reduce the activation cost for abilities for both races. It has the added benefit for humans that it also makes their spells stronger the higher the level.

Levels will max out at 10 for both races, 1 being a novice and 10 being an expert. Only Instructors can go beyond Proficiency level 10 as they have spent time in live combat. Its also for balancing purposes. No student should ever be able to beat a seasoned veteran.

Maximum Mana Pool/ Blood Level is simply the total amount of blood/mana your character is currently capable of tapping into. Players can put points into this to increase their maximum amount. Vampires have a naturally higher cap than humans due to the fact their source of food also doubles as their source of power.

Spells is a human specific system where a player may create a new spell to add to their repertoire assuming it falls into the property category (Elemancy, Aether: Destruction, Etc.) The amount of EP needed to create a new spell will depend on the spell itself. Spells will be reviewed by the staff and once an agreement is reached, the player will be notified of the cost. It is highly recommended that players do this first if they are thinking about making a new spell rather than putting points into other places and using the leftovers for a spell.

Rune Crafting falls under human specific as well. During the time skips, it can be inferred that all humans have spent time designing runes for their spells. Putting points into this will increase the amount of runes created during the time skips for the appropriate spells. Longer time skips will incur a greater amount of runes.

Beast Control falls under vampire specific as it is the training of one's mind to resist The Beast within all vampires. Training this will make it easier for the vampire to push back against the Frenzy as well as give the player a fighting chance when they approaching critical blood levels.

Blood Efficiency is a vampire specific trait influences the BPP (Blood Per Post) of the vampire. More points into this means that vampires will use less blood to maintain their enhancements active during a battle sequence (or whatever the hell you have it on for).

Zero State & Frenzy

Going to hit everyone with something of a curveball here! As I have stated many times, I will be personally monitoring each and every IC post and be making decisions for the story and players accordingly. This means that I will also be influencing the natural weakness of Vampires and Humans. The fatal weakness of each race.

For vampires, its their Frenzy. Frenzy is influenced by many things such as, stress, injury, starvation, blood consumption, and state of mind. I will be closely analyzing the posts and will be adding something called Frenzy tics. These "tics" will be added to your IC posts as a small symbol. [[[ ! ]]] specifically. A bold, bracketed, bright red exclamation point will represent ONE tic of Frenzy. This Frenzy Tic does not go away until The Beast is somehow satisfied. Whether that be through feeding (direct feeding is - 2 tics), meditation (-1), sex (- 3 tics). These are the big three but individual coping mechanism are also brought into account.

For every tic of Frenzy, the Vampire will start to feel the pull of The Beast more, becoming more instinctual and irritable/angered as a result. The closer they get to the Frenzy, the more evident it becomes A vampire losing themselves to The Beast begin to go deathly pale, their veins turn black and the sclera (the whites of the eyes) go horribly bloodshot. Eventually becoming entirely blood red.

Vampires who have reached the point of Frenzy will completely lose control of their character for an unspecified amount of time (posts). At the same time, The Beast will hold nothing back, pushing the vampire to their fullest, enhancing ALL of his/her traits to max or near max levels. (stat wise, they gain +5 levels in all physical traits)

Zero State is the nickname given to the death-like state that humans enter once they have fully depleted their Mana. Mana is the life energy of a mage and using it will naturally exhaust them to the point of nearly dying once they run out. The lower a mage is on Mana, the more tired he becomes. We can tally the specific state of exhaustion via percentages. Assuming a mage has 100 Mana, the exhaustion will set in accordingly.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

100/ 100 - Full mana. No problems.
75/ 100 - Three-Quarters. Mage feels as if they have gone on a brisk jog.
50/ 100- Half Mana. Human is feeling the effects of the drain. As if they had been running laps for a long period of time.

25/ 100- Quarter Mana. Mage is tired. Launching spells at their full capacity becomes difficult. Main phenomena of Zero State begins appearing. Something known as "Flickering". Human's eyes begin to flicker with Mana. Glowing and Dimming rapidly.

10/ 100- Near Zero. Mage is exhausted. Incanting becomes impossible due to heavy breathing and fatigue. Movement is considerably slower. Flickering phenomena is blatantly obvious along with a huge loss in pigment of the mage.
5 or below- CRITICAL! Human is on the verge of losing consciousness. Casting and movement has become practically impossible. Mana can be visibly seen leaving the body.

Zero State- Full unconsciousness. No amount of outside stimuli will awaken the mage. Mage is considered comatose until Mana is restored naturally or by others.
Death Cursing- The forbidden fruit of magic. If a mage pushes beyond the Zero State, chances for a fatal end become 100 %. However, just before this happens, the mage will see an massive increase in Potency. This unlocks power beyond the human's full potential in a last ditch effort to defeat the threat. The drawback, of course, is guaranteed death.

Humans have no way of recovering mana in the field outside of Vitae: Equilibrium cast, Absorption: Drain, or specific tech equipment. Mages can only recover Mana naturally by resting otherwise.

Progress bars for your mana and blood respectively. Edit progress "percentage" to adjust the bar, and then the text value to change what it says.

For those of you too lazy to bother with standard math, here's this site: http://www.math.com/students/calculators/source/3percent.htm

Q: Can I make a vampire/human hybrid?

A: This already technically exists; They are called "Thinbloods" these are vampires who have bred with humans for generations. Their blood level is naturally smaller than Median vamps, or Purebloods. They also don't experience frenzy very often but use a lot of blood whenever they activate an ability. However being vampires they will naturally be more physically adept than their human predecessor. Even a Thinblood is stronger, faster, more perceptive, etc; than any human can be. They are still vampires by nature and don't inherent any of their human side's abilities.

Q: Can my vampire cast spells?

A: No. For lore purposes this is simply not possible for vampires, no matter how much of a Thinblood they are.

Q: Can I partner with anyone?

A: Yes you can, however partnering an experienced character with an inexperienced character may eventually lead to disastrous events on the battlefield. Choose your partners wisely.

Q: Do I have to partner with someone?

A: No. But your ability to take on a Rot face to face is null. You simply cannot match the strength of a bloodlink. In these cases your character will have to take a back seat and play a supporting role rather than that of a tank or some other frontliner unless otherwise specified.

Q: Is this a highschool/college roleplay?

A: Absolutely not. This is a military academy with relevant academics. Most studying will take the form of physical lessons.

Q: Can I make a professor?

A: Yes you can. However it must first be approved and the amount of detail you must put into your character has to be beyond the average effort. You really need to have a good reason for them being a professor.

Q: Vampires seem much weaker in comparison to human's and their magic, which one is better?

A: Although magic can be extremely powerful, the abilities in which a vampire has, via their blood level/BPP can not be matched by any human. Vampires can reach unprecedented speeds like Mach 1 and above. Same thing goes for all of their other physical abilities, however this is solely up to the creator of the character and where they assign their points.

Q:What time period does the RP take place?

A: It's a modern time, about 100 years in the future. However the technology is still modern-esque (think about 20-50 years in the future in terms of technology)

Q: Is this a detailed roleplay?

A: Yes and as such the posts and character's sheets need to match that level of attention. Posts are usually 1-7 paragraphs, character sheets are very thought out and well written, at least try to show some effort; the roleplay and it's characters are meant to feel immersive.
