Vampiric Fantasy [with dark amethyst]

I heard the sound of gargled chokes and the thud of dropping bodies but my hope didn't last long. I was being dragged (again) to what appeared to be another door at the end of the tunnel, except this one led to the open world. "What is it with you and corridors and tunnels?" I asked, but I didn't expect nor receive an answer. My breath of fresh air was short lived as he shoved me in front of him, nearly winding me as he slammed and bolted the door behind him. He then smashed the lock with his fist, ensuring no one could break the lock. "Helpful." I remark. He whipped back around to face me at my comment, fangs bared. "HOW DARE YOU COME HERE AND INSULT ME!" He yelled, ferociously. It was really scary. "YOU KIDNAPPED ME!" I tried to sound fearless but I had a feeling it didn't have the same effect as I intended. He sighed, rubbing his temple before facing me again. "I'm sorry." That stopped me.

"Wait, what?" I said after a long moment.

"You heard what I said." He snapped.

"Okaaaayyyy..." I dragged out, confused. "For what?"

"What do you think?" Now that really ticked me off. "Oh, I don't know. Being stupid enough to sign up for the hunter programme, being cocky and getting yourself killed, and the taking it out on dad! And to TOP it all off, you had to chase mum and I round the country and KIDNAP ME!" I finished, just restraining my yell. "Yes, well, all of that..." He said. I hadn't seen this side of him in a long time, but it didn't reduce my hatred for him at this point. "I don't want to do this alone..." I froze. So this was what this was all about. I took a step back in horror, only to have the misfortune of walking back into a tree. "No way in hell, David." I whisper.

(it would be really helpful if you could paragraph every time the speaker changes, I missed who was talking quite a few times on your post)

Just how many vampires did that guy brought up? Seriously, it was an ambush, not a full-out war! What a great brother, Giz`s servant had.

Wiping out what must have been the 50th vampire that day by Giz alone, he started to chase after ms. Lawrence again. Giz could only hope he was getting the halls right. And that he`d last enough to get to her. His legs felt like sticks fallen from a tree. He had made too much use of magic in that short amount of time, especially without taking the potions.

He arrived at this large door, and tried to open it like he did with the last one. He raised his left arm, but this time the purple lights failed to open the door. It had to be broken if it wasn`working even with THAT kind of magic. Giz empowered his sword with both his types of magic and began to hit it, again and again, hoping to force it open.

(Sorry)

I jumped a little when the thudding came from the door and so did David as he whipped round to glare at it. I took my chance with his distraction to try and make a break for it...it didn't work very well. David grabbed me in an instant, pushing me back up against the tree by my arms. "I don't think so." He growled.

"David please! I don't want this!" I pleaded, looking up at him. By his expression he either didn't care about what I was saying or was too stubborn to listen. "Serena--" He started and I could see the fangs slide out from beneath his lip. That was when the door broke free "NO!" David roared, but he knew he couldn't do anything now for risk of being burnt to shreds in the process. In the next instant, he was gone.

I slunk down the tree trunk, curling up tightly at the bottom. I was shaking, but too scared to even cry.

(no worries!)

Giz kept hitting the door again and again, each strike louder and more furious than the last. He could hear voices on the other side of that door, even though he couldn`t understand what they were saying. Still, he had a pretty good idea of what it might be. The vampire was probably mocking her, messing with her before he finally injected either his teeth or something worse in her, killing or turning Ms.Lawrence into a vampire. Giz yelled, striking the door again. He wasn`t about to let that happen.

And then finally, the door slammed open, and Giz only caught a glimpse of the vampire escaping.

"All you alright? Ms. Lawrence, are you alright?" Giz inquired, breathing heavily.

I was hunched on the floor unresponsive, more in shock than fear if I was honest. But after a moment of trying to recover my senses, I jerkily nodded, finally meeting his gaze. "You wondered..." I said exceptionally shakily, my breathing even more so. "Why I hated my job..." I say, almost glaring up at him. "How many hurt?" I say, looking away and making no move to try and get up.

(sorry, had no time to do any more. xD Was in lesson)

"I`m glad...You`re okay..." I said. I could feel my breaths getting harder and harder. "Let us..."

I felt something coming up like vomit and opened my mouth, unleashing a torrent of blood. As I thought, breaking that door open without having taken any potion prior had almost made my body exceed it`s limits. To think of what might have happened if that last vampire hadn`t run away, it terrified me. My vision was starting to get blurry.

"Don`t worry about that, I`ve been worse. For now, focus on getting out of here and regroup. Come." I said, not quite sure if it was totally true. I tried to walk away, only to fall on my knee. my chest hurt all over.

Shocked by his violent reaction to what he was doing, I scrambled up and rushed to him when he collapsed to his knees. "Giz! Are you--What can I do?" I rush, awkwardly kneeling beside him, unsure of what to do. I'd never been on a hunt before so I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing here. "Do you want me to go and get someone? Or, or...get some herbs or something?" I suggested helplessly. I heard footsteps running down the corridor, accompanied by voices...human voices. "HEY!" I yell down, not wanting to leave Giz. "HELP!" The footsteps got faster as one of the commanders from before burst through the doorway.

(please take a look at the "out of character chat" section. There were no commanders down the tunnels since they would have been the last to enter the elevator, which was tkane down before all the hunters got down to the cave. I just wanted to correct that before it grows)

"Just..." Giz coughed, blood coming from his mouth again "Don`t worry. Just help m stand and get back into the group."

To be honest, he was relieved that the other hunters had arrived. He probably wouldn`t be able to fight off vampires in that state. The other hunters surrounded Giz and MsLawrence, seeming worried.

"Giz..." Marcov said, stepping forward.

"Marcov, take her and get her under protection. I`ll explain later. Don`t worry about me. Is everyone alright?" Giz told his friend, who shook his head no.

"Surface is blocked. Half our man down here were heavily injured or killed, though most of them were servants. If I may say, what..." Marcov began, being interrupted by Giz vomiting yet another pool of blood. Marcov`s eyes widened. "You idiot...I need medical attention here, URGENT! This man exhausted and pierced his lungs! Giz, don`t resist, you need to be operated."

"I wasn`t...planning...on resisting...But the...surgery...down here...sucks..." Giz replied, grinning. Three man stepped forward and lifted Giz up as carefully as they could. The group then began moving out.

"My name is Lord-General Marcov. Pleasure to meet you, ms...?" Marcov greeted. The bald man smiled and offered her his hand to shake.

(My bad :3)

"Miss Lawrence, sir." I say, taking his hand almost absent mindedly as I watch Giz from over the mans shoulder. "What's going to happen now, if I may ask?" I say nervously. "What happened to all the vamps that got away? Are we going off now?" With my fright I was rattling off my questions like rounds of bullets.

(Sorry that was short. Writer's block. I can't think of anything.)

(don`t worry, it happens to everyone. Just keep in mind the details on the out-of-character section, I`ll add in some more as I find useful. Should you want to use it too, feel free.)

"Well, ms. Lawrence, our way out was blocked. The vampires that attacked us were dealt with, a lot of them by your master, according to the corpses we found on our way down. We`ll take care of the wounded as best as we can and then continue the hunt. In the meantime, the people on the surface will be gathering an army and opening the passage. I hope that answers your questions." the bald man replied. He sighed "Be sure to take of your master, and don`t let him out of the medical tent until it`s time for the hunt to continue. That man....If only the commander hadn`t forced us to bring our servants, he might still be fit to defend the perimeter."

It was a bit of a long walk, and the pain didn`t cease to increase. The adrenaline of the chase was gone and with it the distraction from the pain.

"Marcov! Please, don`t let them...Don`t let them see my..." Giz passed out.

"I know, friend." Marcov replied, nodding even though he knew Giz couldn`t hear him.

.....

Giz woke up in the medical tent, his left arm , leg and part of his belly completely covered in by black sheets. The bandages covered those areas, as well as the entire chest and right arm.

To his right lied a large wooden box, containing his armor. Giz grinned, remembering the day he made it.

When Giz finally showed signs of consciousness, I was sitting by his cot. Whilst he was sleeping, I had been playing an amusing guessing game to try and work out what was in the box. Too big to be a weapon, to small to be an animal? I didn't know. But I was standing when he opened his eyes and turned to look at the box. "Um, sir...?" I say nervously, coming to the bed. "How are you feeling?"

"Huh? Oh, I`m...fine, ms...huh..." Dang it, he forgot her name again! Seriously, that memory of his would get him killed some day. "Anyway, are YOU alright? You were in a state of shock when I finally got to you, and you were surrounded by vampires until then. Speaking of which, ms, have you told anyone about the events that occurred during your kidnapping? Anything?"

I snorted. "Why would I? If they knew who I was to them, they'd cart me off and use me as bait or something. Funnily enough I don't exactly fancy being used as a hunting tool - especially considering I'm not supposed to be here." This time, I managed not to roll my eyes as he again forgot my name. Again.

"Good. If you can, let us keep your...brother...a secret from the rest. As far as anyone is to know, the attack was an attempt to give time for the overlord to escape or to slay as many hunters as possible as we headed down in such a large group. Has the surface been reached yet? How are the rest of the hunters down here?" Giz said. He was worried to where this events might lead. "I realize you must hate me, for dragging you along into this, but...for now, let`s focus on surviving and getting that overlord down. Once we do, well, feel free to do as you like to me."

I sat back down again, pulling a chair to his bedside. "I'm not going to do anything to you, but don't expect me to speak to you after all this." I say with utmost seriousness. "But my brother...i will not say where he's going or what is intentions are, because he's still my brother. Now I know you'll moan about how he's not one of us and never will be, but I do not want to be able to say I helped hunters destroy my brother. Ok?" I glance out of the window as yet another trolley harbouring a casualty was wheeled past. "As for the rest of us, there were too many casualties that needed treatment to continue. The door I was taken through is where we are now."

"No, no, that`s alright. I won`t force you to do anything. Converted vampires never rise much in rank anyway, so I`m sure he isn`t our target. That means, that with a little luck, we won`t have to kill your brother at all. However, I need you to be aware that none of us will hesitate to take him down, should that prove to be necessary. And you may not work with us, but you won`t work AGAINST us either. Is that clear? I know you hate me. Now, just get off the tent, I need to put my armor back on." Giz said, pointing at the box.

"Fine." I huff, waving my arms up as I stormed out of the tent.

I headed towards the canteen first, knowing I was ravenous. My meal didn't take that long as I was dining alone, continuing to ignore the perculiar stares and whispers. I rubbed my neck nervously as a group came in and openly gawked. That was when i decided it was my turn to leave.

I headed, reluctantly, back to Giz's tent, wondering if he was ok.

A moment after she left, Gz opened the box and got back into my armor. He then left the tent and headed out to see how things were. There were many, many injured leaving Giz to think he might he amongst them. That he might be amongst the dead ones.

"Lord-general!" Someone called behind him. Giz turned around, witnessing the doctor that stood in front of him shivering. Those couldn`t be good news. "You weren`t suppose to be out of bed, sir. Your injuries..."

"I know my own injuries and my own limits better than anyone else." Giz replied "Please attend to those who really need your aid."

"But, sir, your lungs were pierced. We sealed the wound in time, but, your arm and legs." the doctor continued. Giz`s eyes opened as the grabbed the man by the throat.

"What about them? I gave specific orders not to..." Giz growled in rage.

"I...None of us saw clearly sir. They just seemed, pale. Your circulation must..." Giz dropped the man, who got on his knees breathing heavily.

"They were like that for years now. Please, when I say that something isn`t to be seen, you OBEY. I won`t repeat and the next time I hear somebody peaked, I will deal with that person myself, in any way I have to."

I heard yelling in the direction of Giz's tent and quickened the pace of my walk to see what was going on. "Gi-Master!" I hurried, coming to stand by him. "Is there anything I can do for you, sir?" I say, trying to distract him from the poor doctor in front of him. "Can I get you any medical supplies sir? I was told your injuries were severe..." I lied, just trying to hold his attention.

"What, suddenly you care?" Giz inquired, still in rage "Go and take that idiot of a doctor with you. Go take care of those who actually need help. I`m gonna see how command is holding."

With that said, Giz stormed off, each step he gave was loud and heavy.

The doctor reached out to Ms. Lawrence`s clothes.

"Oh thank you miss, thank you! " He said, standing up and hurrying to the other patients.

Giz arrived to the commanding tent. It wasn`t all that suprising to see Marcov there, and neither was his reaction to Giz`s arrival.

"Giz! What are you doing here, you should be..." He began

"In my tent? I don`t take orders from incompetent doctors. Besides, I won`t le myself be left out on the planning of what to do next. I was the on that came further down, remember?"

"And that nearly cost you your life." Marcov replied.

"Becoming a hunter is what nearly cost me my life." I answered.

I clenched my jaw and glared at his retreating back. "One minute you're desperate for me to treat you normally again, and the next you couldn't care less." I muttered to myself. "Way to make a girl feel useful, Giz." I rolled my eyes but didn't make a dramatic show of storming off like he did.

After my shouting match with Giz when I first arrived, I figured nobody would want me around. So, I found a secluded place not too far from camp on a little hill overlooking the fields, and sat picking at the grass. "Well, if anybody, by a miracle, does want me, then they can come find me."

"Well, we don`t need more lord-general`s in this reunion, Giz." One of the chiefs, Mermt, said. Giz growled, to which the said chief simply smirked. "You see. You clearly aren`t thinking straight. I`m surprised you weren`t just killed on the spot they found you. For all we know, you might be vampire."

"He was found spiting blood. Regular blood. Besides, he can use light magic. That means he`s no vampire." Guri replied. She was the only female chief around, which usually made her a perfect spot for jokes among the other chiefs, although her fierce personality and reputation made it impossible to do them in front of her. "However Memt does have a point. Get rid of that rage, lord-general. It isn`t good for you."

Giz opened his mouth o reply, but Guri raised a hand before he could.

"You don`t need to explain. I know your circumstances, since the incident took place under my command." she said "But for now apologize and calm down. We`ll let you watch and even share an opinion, IF you can behave."

"My apologies." Giz replied in defeat, nodding.

The air was fresh and cool up on the hillside, and it reminded me of home...Ha. Home. What a strange concept - well it was now. Everything I'd ever known had been destroyed completely, and every single incident had involved hunters in some way. I was still surprising myself as to why I was still with these damn people. What good had they ever done to me? It didn't matter. Most would say that I should be grateful for the hunters, that so many disasters had been prevented because of them...but I guess that was a hard thing to get your mind around when all the disasters in one's life were down to them. I sighed, angrily yanking out a fistful of grass from its roots. My mind wandered to mother. I hadn't heard from her, not that I would, but I was worried. What if David decided to go after her instead? What if...no, I couldn't dwell on possibilities. That would just make me even more infuriated with the position I was in, and that wouldn't end well for anybody. I lay back on the grass, staring up at the sky. "I hope this is all going to be worth it in the end." I murmur to nobody in particular.

"You can`t mean that!" Giz shouted, bashing his hands on the table.

"Well, we had a man who managed to get this far down alone and live." Mermt replied, smiling, knew what he wanted. He was obviously trying to trap Giz, to have him take a false step so he`d be forced back into the surgery bed. He clenched his teeth.

"I`m an elite hunter. And even then, I am kind of lucky this ambush wasn`t too serious." Giz answered.

"What do you mean, Giz?" Marcov inquired.

"Simple. The vampires hoped the elevator would have us all killed, and any who didn`t would be to few to fight back. Possibly, the only survivors would be on the surface." Giz lied, raising his hands as if his false theory was completely obvious. Many of the higher-ups in the tent nodded in agreement to Giz`s false statement. They clearly were unaware of his servant`s brother.

"Vampires wouldn`t be so stupid as to make such a large miscalculation., lord-General" Mermt stated.

"Which is precisely why, it`s imperative that we get better information before resuming the hunt as if nothing happened." Guri remarked aggressively.

"I didn`t suggest..." York, the one that just suggested the bold idea we were discussing, tried to complain.

"I know what you meant, York, but when everything is summed up, it means the same. Charge in and expect ourselves to be the superior kin." Guri replied, putting her hand on York`s shoulder "I know by experience that there is no such thing as a "superior kin". And so did lord-general Giz, over there. But it`s enough of this. We need rest. We`ll make a decision tomorrow, by common vote. We should dismiss now."

I glanced back around at the sound of more shouting coming from one of the tents, then watched as a few minutes later, various hunters filed out of the tent. I just managed to spot Giz among them, and it was getting dark fast so I figured I'd better go and see him. With a sigh, I hauled myself up, brushing my dress down as I went.

"Gi-master Giz!" I call over, yet not too loudly. "Is there anything I can do?" Dammit! I was falling back into old habits already! This was stupid! "What happened?"
