Dark Amethyst
Delusional
We were on our way down the street and I was explaining my theory about some deep biblical topic when I heard running footsteps behind me. Both mother and I decided to ignore them, assuming it was probably just some guards on patrol, but then they slowed down to a walk behind us. "Miss Lawrence? Please, tell me I've got this right?" I whipped around, horrified. We didn't need anyone knowing where we were going, let alone someone who works for the hunters...or Giz. I really didn't want to see another hunter...preferably in the next decade. "Yes. Why?" I asked, curtly.
"We need you to come with us. Hunte-"
"No." My mother and I interrupted in unison.
"I'm afraid this is urgent." One of them insisted, surprised by our outbursts. I paused for a moment, looking at him blankly.
"Still no."
"What...what's going on?" My mother tried to calm the situation, defensively standing in front of me.
"I'm afraid ma'am, that your...daughter? I'm assuming...has been summoned for hunters duty. I will not ask again." It took the whole of 2 seconds for me to understand what was going on and turn and sprint...though I didn't get very far because the silent one of the two guards kinda guessed my reaction and caught me before I'd ran 10 metres. "NO! I AM NOT GOING!" I screamed at him, trying to yank out of his arms, to no avail. My mother stood there gobsmacked with tears in her eyes, knowing that if she tried anything she would get arrested for perverting the course of defense...or something. "I love you!" I just managed to hear her tearful cry as I was half-dragged off towards the gates. "NO!"
By the time I'd gotten to the gates, I'd given up on trying to get free, and turned my struggle into a blind hatred. They handed me my necessary supplies, and servants utilities, but I didn't utter a word of thanks. One of the hunters indicated the direction of Giz, who was standing among others, and with a glare, I tried to walk over as calmly as I could. The amount of self-control required that day was unbelievable. "I hate you." I snapped as soon as I got over, I didn't care who was listening.
