Realistic or Modern Valsena Chronicles

  • Josh was confused. They came here? Why? As far as he knew, none of them were wanted! Well, maybe Ragna was but still... Heavy footsteps could be heard getting closer now. What could they do? They couldn't just stage a fight in such a small area, even if they could learn how to fight as a team in such a small amount of time. For once, Josh was stumped. He didn't know what to do. He simply looked at Ragna to find out what their plan was. 'Fuckfuckfuckfuck! Big scary armor dude is outside!'

Ragna got up from his place and hugged the wall. He cracked the door opened just a little bit, expecting to see the big armored knight. He placed his finger on his lips in a "Shhhh", drawing his gun, not that it would be effective. He looked outside. The metal sounding thumps were of workers unloading scrap metal for the gunsmith to work with. He closed the door, holstering the gun, with a sigh of relief. "Just a bunch of workers unloading crushed scrap metal. Nothing worry about!" He made his way back to the table. Aida raised a valid point, although the sniper wasn't the least of their worries.

"Mari's fighting style relies heavily on long range support. She has no armor, because it restricts her movement. She is fast though. She has climbing equipment, which helps her scale walls. She shoots, then relocates. It's gonna be hard to find her, but once you do, it shouldn't be hard to take her down. As I said, she relies heavily on long range and anonymity being her defense. We need someone who is just as fast." While Ragna was explaining the Chinese woman was taking notes.

"I can track her movements from shot to shot and establish a pattern, which I could use to help locate her!" Ling explained. "This way I could predict her next point."
"We need to scout an area beforehand. The least amount of tall buildings there are in a 2 kilometer radius, the better. Mari's range is about a mile, or 1.6 kilometers, so I recon 2 kilometers should be enough. This will restrict her movements and will take her more time to take a precise shot." He turned to the group. "Alright! For now, we need a map to plan our confrontation, EMP bullets, which will take down the shield of the robo-knight."
"If anyone needs weapon's repair or something else, I can forge it for you, I'm not only a gunsmith, you know!" The old man yelled from the back, where he was working on Ragna's new EMP cannon.

Just as the gang was getting comfortable, a couple of knocks on the door startled them. "Hey, Vulcan! We got your metal!" the guy yelled. Ragna got up and walked over to the door, opening it. "Wait, you are not Vulcan!" The man was startled at first.
"I'm a client, he is busy making a gun for me. What do you want?" Ragna hissed at the man
"Jeez, we just brought the scrap he asked for. No need to get aggressive." He dusted his hat off.
"I'll let him know!" Ragna slammed the door closed.
"What a polite man!" The worker said, walking back to the truck
"Wasn't that Ragna? You know, the crazy bounty hunter?" The other worker asked.
"Even if it was, It's none of our business. We deliver scrap, nothing more, nothing less. I have a family to feed and I don't want to die over stupid shit like this!" The first worker cut his colleague off, starting the engine. "Now, let's go grab a beer. That's the last delivery for today!"
"While you wait, make yourself useful and bring the scrap in, I'll give ya a discount!" Vulcan yelled from the back, his words aimed at the party of heroes plotting into his waiting room.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the city, the huge metal knight and the woman with him were dragging a body bag across the city, and towards the nearest Department of Justice, where they would claim their bounty. It wasn't long before they came out of the building with a case full of money. "Not bad for a 4 hour tour!" The girl said. "Not bad indeed!" the robo-knight spoke. "But I am more surprised by the fact we have 2 high profile targets on the loose!"
The girl raised an eyebrow. "You have been tapping into their conversations again?"
"How many armed psychos with big gun and red coat do you know?" He replied.
"Ragna's here? This should prove interesting." the girl smiled. They now had another target, just for the funzies.
"He has a team now. They seem to have trashed the library, I say we start from there!" The armed knight suggested.
"Lead the way!" The girl pointed, following the robo knight towards the now trashed library

Josh remained seated on his bed, a little embarrassed by his little freak out. Turns out it was just the metal delivery for Vulcan, the gunsmith. It wouldn't exactly benefit the team if he freaked out when an actual battle breaks out. 'Might as well prepare myself for battle. The bounty hunters aren't going to be the only battle we'll be having today.' he decided. He browsed his journal, looking for any notes that he had made earlier. 'Ah, I'm gonna need a new set of armor. Something that could take a serious blow.' "While you wait, make yourself useful and bring the scrap in, I'll give ya a discount!" Vulcan yelled. Josh nodded and walked towards the door. He looked back at Vulcan, "Oh, I could use a new set of armor. Mind helping me out after this?" he asked.

Vulcan raised his glasses and looked from behind the counter. "What kind of a Forgery am I running if I can't fashion a complex armor. Let me just finish Ragna's EMP shotgun and I'll see what I can do!" The old man put his glasses back on and continued working. He was hammering onto what looked like a barrel of a musket, but with thinner walls and bigger caliber. Ragna would need a gin to fire those bullets as well, and it would be easier to build the barrel first and bullets later.

Ragna on the other hand opened the door, and headed outside. The scrap metal was heavier than it looked, so it took Ragna some densing up in order to carry them to the back storage room. It took a while, but the metal was all inside. And by that time, Vulcan had finished up with the forging. The old man pushed the shotgun to the side, and raised his goggles, replacing them with reading glasses. "Now, let me see what you need?"

Ling on the other side took advantage of the open fireplace and decided to cook a meal for the group. An army marches on its stomach, so it was a good idea for them to be well fed before what looked like an imminent battle. She took a couple of spices which she pocketed into her inventory while in the forest and added them to the pot, which made it smell even more delicious.

Just as he ran inside he saw Ezekiel slice the bullets with her sword, dumbfounded at her insane agility he stood there for a second, jaw hung open as she sliced one of their throats with only sweat. It made Jamie a little nervous, knowing that Ezekiel could just use the liquid around him to kill people. He was snapped back into reality however as Ezekiel fell to the ground, clutching his wounded side. Quickly boosting himself again, Jamie leaped forward and flipped the gun around, just as the man fired the bullet, causing him to shoot himself in the foot. He let out a scream. "Now why did you do that?" Jamie said, more to himself than to anyone else and grabbed the man by the throat, throwing him into the wall behind him.

As Jamie did so more men ran in, firing their assault rifles as they did so. He quickly dived for cover, effortlessly scooping up Ezekiel and dashing into cover, picking up the assault rifle with his other hand. "Jesus Christ! Stop! You're destroying my damn house!" Jamie yelled over the sound of gunfire and shattering glass, the sound of bullets tearing through furniture. As if in slow motion Jamie saw a stray bullet fly into his computer at his desk. "Oh shit. You done fucked up good." He stepped opened up the kitchen drawer and pulled out a shotgun. Holding this in one hand, and the assault rifle in the other Jamie stepped out of cover. The first person he saw was reloading their gun, and closer to Jamie than he anticipated. A quick kick to the gut sent him flying through the window, Jamie's boosted strength sending the man out of the fight. Another was taking up position to fire at Jamie when several shotgun pellets greeted him warmly in the chest and face. "All my god damn save files." He raised the assault rifle and sprayed into the chest of another who managed to get off a few bullets, hitting Jamie in the chest but not stopping him. "I knew I should have backed up my files" He emptied the rest of the clip into another attacker who just walked through the door, tearing open his chest. He threw the assault rifle to the floor and held the shotgun in both hands. Numerous bodies were piled all over the inside of Jamie's house, and no one else seemed to enter.

Jamie walked outside, shotgun in hand to see three or so men, pointing assault rifles at his head. "Put down the shotgun, we only want Ezekiel." Jamie put on a fake quizzical expression on his face, taking a step forwards. "Ezekiel? I ain't heard of no Ezekiel?" "Stop bullshitting us, we know you have him, he manipulated liquids and killed half our men." With that Jamie smiled, "Oh you mean Elsa?" he said extra loudly so Ezekiel inside could hear. "Too bad, he's under my protection now." Jamie jumped over the top and them and behind them, firing the shotgun as he flew, completely obliterating one of the men before he could even react. As the other two started to turn around, Jamie had already pumped the shotgun and fired off another shell, killing the second. The third managed to get off one bullet into Jamie, before Jamie through the shotgun at his face, causing him to stagger backwards long enough so that Jamie could walk up to him, using his boosted strength he tore off the arm, completely that was holding the gun. "Disarmed" he said with a grin, barely hearing himself over the screams of the man's arm he had just torn off. "Oh shut up," Jamie said, removing his pistol from his holster and firing two rounds into the man's head, silencing him.

  • Josh approached Vulcan with his journal in hand. His journal was opened on a page with what appeared to be sketches of an armor set. He always liked those sketches. They drawn by his little sister and the idea of the armor came from his little brother. He handed Vulcan the journal, smiling a bit as he remembered his siblings back home. "It was designed to be near indestructible, according to my brother. He made little notes on the side on how to temper the steel just right." he said, "Oh, and it's supposed to be made from Adamantine steel so the wearer wouldn't be weighed down too much."

Vulcan looked over the designs and glanced at Josh. 'Sure hope he won't charge extra from the Adamantine steel.' "I could also use some new weapons, if you don't mind?" 'Something tells me I just broke my savings. Adamantine steel and weapons aren't cheap after all.'

Vulcan examined the scribbles from top to bottom, scratched his head and grabbed the pencil, perfectly copying the design to a blank sheet. He didn't want to be impolite and draw on the diary of the boy.
"Now, looking at it, I see 2 major flaws." He circled 3 areas. "Openings here, here and here. It wouldn't take a newbie, but a less experienced archer or a gunslinger can land you a pretty nasty shot in there." He circled another area. "And this here place is gonna end up too heavy. Whoever drew this had a very vague idea of how an armor works. But I can't blame them, not everybody can be a master forger." He applied the changes quickly. "Now, if we change this, we would close the openings, without adding extra weight. Also, if we change up this part, we will improve your balance, which will increase your maneuverability. You'll still get the standard openings at joints, but with the better balance and speed, it would take a marksman at least as experienced as Ragna to take the shot, and it's still not guarantee that they'll hit." Simply by listening to the man one could understand why the man was so famous as to be called Vulcan. He was an expert to say the least. "Now, as far as the materials... it's a completely different idea. Adamantine is hard to find... But, I'll tell you what... You find me the materials, forging is gonna be free of charge, and I get to keep the leftover scrap, how does that sound?"

Meanwhile the duo of bounty hunters were rummaging through the remains of the library, seeing multiple cartridges from Ragna's gun, among the other wreckage and signs of him being there. "Check this out!" Mari held a scale of a reptilian in her hand. "Dragon!" The robo knight scanned it quickly, coming to the conclusion. "He has a fucking dragon now?" Mari raised an eyebrow, cussing at her luck. "I've never hunted down a dragon before. Do you think his head would look good over my Mantelpiece?" She joked around. "Lots of blood as well, so I bet the dragon is wounded, judging by the scale. They don't just drop those you know." The knight replied. He was more business. "So we gotta search all underground doctors?" the girl asked. "No. That's the most logical place to look for. Ragna is not stupid. We should look for in other places. Gambling parlors, whorehouses... places scum like him would hang out and not stand out...." The knight replied. After talking for a while, they decided to split up and look around, see what they can find.

Jamie stood in his front yard for a few seconds, panting, before collapsing to the floor in a tired heap. He popped another of the white pills in his pocket into his mouth. Letting out a yell of pleasure as the contents flooded through his veins, waking him up and filling him with energy again. He put his pistol away into the holster. Walking into the house he started smiling "Hey guys that was fu.." He started, but was stopped as he saw Ezekiel's unconscious body on the ground. "He said to take him to a hospital." The blind girl relayed his message. "That's dangerous, but alright, let's do it." Jamie temporarily boosted his strength again and lifted up unconscious Ezekiel and carried him to the garage, opening the door to his car and throwing him in the back.

Jamie grinned as he got behind his 100% legit totally not stolen Dodge Challenger Hellcat. He turned the ignition and let out an excited yell as the engine roared to life. Snapping back into the seriousness of the situation, he pressed the button in the car to open his garage and slammed down the accelerator, the car squealing out the garage and down the down the dirt road, reaching an unsealed tar road in no time. He was making staggering time towards the city.

"Do whatever the hell you can lady! Just keep him alive!" He yelled back to the two in the back of the car. He could faintly hear some sort incantations over the roar of the engine.

After a while they eventually arrived outside the hospital, after running numerous red lights and surviving many almost collision. He jumped out of the car quickly, kissing the bonnet and whispering "thanks baby" before opening the back door and pulling Ezekiel out again, boosting himself so he could effortlessly carry him through the doors. "Get this man fucking fixed now!" He yelled as he kicked through the doors leading to the the reception area. "Fucking quick now!" A few doctors ran in, hearing the commotion. Seeing the unconscious body they quickly sprung into action, taking Ezekiel out of Jamie's hands and carrying him into an operating room.

It was a quite, worry filled few hours as the doctors stabilized Ezekiel. Jamie sat pacing the hallway the whole time, the blind lady sitting patiently beside him. Eventually the doors opened and a doctor popped his head out. "Your friend has been stabilized, looks like he will pull through" Jamie let out a relieved sigh. "Can i see him now?" He asked, walking to the doors. "Um sir, are you in need of medical attention too?" Jamie looked down to his chest where the doctor was looking. He forgot he was covered in blood and numerous bullet wounds. "Nah doc, I'll be fine, it's other people's blood." He winked at the doctor and pushed past him into the room. Ezekiel lay on the bed hooked up to several machines, barely awake. "Hehe Frozen deleted scenes, Elsa gets fucked up". Jamie took seat and shooed the doctors out, pulling the blind girl in and closing the doors behind him. "Aight we don't have much time before some sort of police are called. I have a dealer, who supplies me with all my badass weaponry and the occasional pill or two for my energy. He's a good guy, Vulcan. He could hopefully give us some sort of sanctuary." Jamie rubbed his stubble." I'll give you an hour or so to recover, you're a super hero after all, you should be perfect by then" he winked and relaxed next to Ezekiel, watching the door and making sure no one comes inside.

  • Josh sighed as the gunsmith told him about the few problems. He expected to be paying a high price, not having to look for Adamantine steel himself. He wasn't sure of where to find the material. Searching around the city for a merchant or something would prove to be risky. There are bounty hunters on the scene, looking for his target and probably a few recognizable faces. 'I bet this whole city knows about the library incident by now.' But if he had that armor, he could stand a chance against that scary mech dude. He walked over to Ragna, "Hey, I-I could use some help with something. It could possibly help us beat those old friends of yours."

H-Hey guys. Sorry if I haven't been around to post lately. Had some stuff to prepare for the 11th Grade!

Dante was getting a little confused by all of it. Who's there enemy? The mech and his cover or this "Ezekiel Forrester"? Never the less someone was gonna die and he was gonna make sure it wasn't them. He tried to think about what he could do about this mech. He could go full form and dive bomb the mech, but the chainsaw. He could get close and personal with him, but the chainsaw and shock wave hammer. Nothing seemed like a reasonable attack at this point. How would they take this thing down? Dante was noticeably upset by the expression on his face. He was becoming frustrated with the impossibility of victory against this thing. Sure, they've defeated Creeps in the woods, Valians in the library, but how about a tag team that is literally an army of two?

Ragna was surprised at Joshua's request. The boy seemed to have built up some trust in him, and for Ragna, this would be enough. He was no longer guarding the kid. He was now his partner. And partners watched each others' backs. He lowered his sunglasses, looking at the boy. "Sure, what do you need?"

Meanwhile, Vulcan went back to work, since he had to finish Ragna's gun, the bullets and he had to forge a new armor. All the others seemed to have been occupied with something, so he went back to his work. Ling on the other hand was working wonders at the fireplace, fixing up a delicious soup for the team to replenish. Besides, although her healing method was proving to be efficient enough, Dante would need to be taken care of the proper way. The wounds may have been closed, but his body needed time to regenerate completely. She fixed him a medicine, which would stop a potential infection, and poured him a bowl of warm soup, setting them aside, while she prepares the main dish. "Soup's ready, if somebody wants to replenish!" She gently called, raising her voice, as if she was a mother, calling the children.

"Smells good, sounds better!" Ragna got up from his seat. "Come..." He tapped Joshua's shoulder. "Tell me what you need over a quick diner. I'm in better mood while eating, and I would probably agree to it easier!"

(Nothing for Ezekiel for now)

Josh happily took a bowl and filled it with soup. He looked around for a place to sit while thinking of how to explain to Ragna his idea. "Basically, I've some sketches of a new armor set in my journal. I checked with Vulcan if he could forge it and he said 'yes'," he paused to take a seat beside Sparks, "Only problem is that the material necessary to take a hit from your mech friend is pretty rare and expensive. I've thought about heading out in the city but it's too risky too head out alone. I was hoping if you could watch my back out there?" he asked.

Hopefully, Ragna would agree and they would find the Adamantine steel before the cops or the county hunters found them. "It's a risky move, I know. But the armor could make a difference if and when we take on big threats." Big threats meaning the scary robo-man, his blue skinned lady, and a rogue mercenary roaming the forests just outside the city.

Ragna listened to Josh's explanation of what seemed to be a supply mission. "It's what I was hired to do..." Ragna started off, but stopped and corrected himself. "... But I don't think I am the right man for the job. You see, If you want to keep a low profile, this..." He circled his face then his whole body with a hand gesture. "... is not the right way to go... People recognize this..." He turned to his busty associate. "...that on the other hand... Ling Ling can help. She can keep a low profile and fight, she is smart... I can support you from the shadows if something comes up, but I don't think going out, while those two are on the loose would be a good idea."

The Chinese woman got up from her seat. "I think I can help you with that..." She waved her hands in the air, drawing a seal. She then reached into it, taking a book out and went through a couple of pages. "Ah, here it is!" She drew some kanji in the air and shot them at Ragna, transforming his face into a completely different person. "This is transformation magic! It would last for a couple of hours, so you could go out and do your job!"
Ragna looked at the reflection in the window. "Damn, I'm ugly... But this is a good idea... Alright, Joshua boy! We have some heavy metal to find!"

Dante watched as the Chinese woman had preformed some magic to alter Ragna's appearance. Apparently, in order to find some precious metals Joshua needed for a suit they needed to keep a low profile. Right now, Dante probably has the lowest of all profiles. He looks like a common street rat with his raged, dirty clothing. Sure, he could still fight even though he wont be as effective. He looked towards the group with his arms wide and a quick glance to his clothing. "Yeah, I think I've got a low enough profile right now" he said with a gentle chuckle. Why do I always have to look like a bum? he questioned internally as he waited for the new venture to start.
