Fantasy Valkyom OOC

A lot of people like Japanese people I guess. Lol.

Anyway, animegirl20 animegirl20 and JustifiedRoles JustifiedRoles . Your characters are shaping up well so far, but both remain unfinished as of this message. Please be sure that your Personality and Biography sections provide the required amount of information listed in the parentheses on Saya's profile. The Personality section needs to be at least one solid paragraph with 7 sentences minimum, and the Biography section needs to be at least three paragraphs with 5 sentences in each paragraph minimum.

Once you have ensured they meet the requirements, let me know and you'll be officially finished with your profiles and ready to post once I give the go-ahead to do so. I want to make sure the others have time to get their characters ready and completed as well before we all get started.

Thanks!

If its real world base then it should come with a wide variety of weapons. Also as for face claims they're a hassle to find, so i like writing down what they look like. It's a good writing exercise (for novelty writers at least).

If you'd like to write their description rather than find an image, then that's fine. But it makes it harder for other players to actually understand what your character looks like and it makes it harder to decide how to interact with them.

You may already know this, you may not. But here's a friendly

No guns. Knives/daggers/switch blades are okay though.

Its cliche to just use swords. Now if its just like in part 1 of sao where there's nothing but swords then sure.

This RP is inspired by SAO in terms of its VR MMORPG game setting With the exception of cannons, guns weren't around in medieval times.

Apologies. I miscounted the sentences.

Please sit tight until we get more people to add and complete their profiles. Once we have enough I'll let you and everyone else who's ready know that we're good to get started.

If you have any further questions or concerns please do let me know!

Hey everyone.

The notifications on this site are funky (always have been), and I didn't get any notifications of animegirl20's character post in the Character's page. Thankfully I checked the page and saw it was there, and Justified tagged me so I knew theirs was posted.

Please either tag me when you've posted your character or let me know here in the OOC that you're ready for me to inspect it to make sure it follows the requirements for the CS (which can be found in Saya's CS).

Thanks guys!

So, just to be clear, there are no real other races? It's just humans with edited features?

Yes. That's correct. Your real character is a normal human being, but they can alter the appearance of their Player Avatar in the VR MMORPG game, Valkyom, via the character creation menu to look like another fantasy race including changes to skin tone, height, weight, build, hair, facial hair, eye shape, size, color, etc.

I'm sorry about this, but I'm going to have to leave this rp. It's just that I've been really stressed lately, and I have marching band for these next couple weeks and then school starts, plus I'm already in a few other roleplays, some of which require posts at least 1 paragraph long, so... Yeah. Again, I'm sorry

No worries. Thank you for letting me know.

ChoShadow ChoShadow My schedule and sleep is whacky monday through thursday, so I have been putting this off lol. I'll get my character in tomorrow night

Edit: you should probably take realistic cost into consideration. A machine that requires 4,000 usd, is not going to be profitable in any way shape or form. VR in real life is barely marketable when you need a top of the line cpu and a gpu that's at least a 1060ti. Which is by most standards, a relatively expensive card when most gaming can be done on a 100 dollar graphics card.

So if a price floor of 1200 bucks, more or less, keeps the oculus rift and other vr tech out of the hands of the average consumer. Then this product really will be geared toward teenagers of affluent backgrounds and the bourgeoise who already spend 4 grand on a 4K television. Or already bought a fancy car.

While I have a few ideas for how to have an average player get their hands on this machine. You're really neglecting the real world barrier to entry and business logistics that would make a machine profitable and worth investing into.

Hell the PS3 bombed despite being the best machine of its gen, because it costed way too much. So now you're asking me to suspend my disbelief to the point where a machine that needs 4 grand worth of equipment just to run, would be anywhere profitable or practical.

Unless there really is like 5 people on the server.

Duly noted, and thank you for your feedback. I see where you're coming from, but I think there's a miscommunication which is entirely on me.

The machine that costs $4K wasn't one you'd have to buy with the game or anything like that to run it.

The $4K was just a figure of estimation to let you know how pricey your gaming computer would have to be in order to run the game at its best. The $4K cost comes from you having bought all the best parts for the PC over time to make it the highest quality gaming rig possible. But you could definitely run the game on a lesser device. But in doing so you'd have to do the usual sacrifice of certain features like turning down graphics/resolution settings, losing certain features like bloom, ambient occlusion, sky quality, turning down render distance, getting rid of motion blur, etc, etc.

The PC itself could easily be something that was built up to over time. Buying one top of the line part every month or two as your finances allowed for it, and working your way up to a top of the line gaming PC/Mac. That's how I built my PC in real life, although mine's not $4K (I wish).

Parts to buy that would run the game at its best, without sacrificing any performance or settings, would include a top of the line CPU with at least eight cores, preferably more, running a solid 3.8-4.2GHz (not overclocked). A pair of GPU's with at least 8GB each for 16GB total, preferably more. Basically two GTX 1080's, if you want a real world example which would be around $1K+ by themselves and 1/4 the cost of the entire rig. This being because the game requires 10GB of GDDR5 RAM minimum to run properly. Any less and things get bad fast unless you strip it down to core essential features and settings.

More parts would include a high speed SSD, 7200RPM or more, with at least 1TB of space or a HDD with 1TB, preferably more. The game software is HUGE and takes up around 280-300 GB of space, so the more storage space you have the better because you want other games on that thing for sure. Nobody makes a PC just to play one game, after all. So the more storage you have, the better. Top of the line cooling system. A good sound card if the one you have in your motherboard isn't doing it for you. The motherboard itself. Etc, etc,.

Parts, parts, parts. And they all add up to a high quality gaming PC that's around $4K in total.

Again you could build that monster over time. It's not something that comes with the game or that you'd have to buy with the game at all. It's the estimated cost of the gaming rig that will run the game at its maximum quality. And this could have been done long before the game actually came out or was even announced depending on what kind of life your character has led and how they went about building their rig.

Many average gamers, like myself, can build PC's that are around $1K-$2K in total to play/enjoy games on high settings. But hardcore gamers (like Youtubers and Pro Gamers) build $10K+ gaming rigs over time as their finances allow for it.

Make sense?

That's where the whole "difference in financial status" comes in. Those who have the game like Saya, who's dad is the CEO of his own company, could easily afford a top of the line gaming rig and the game itself without issue. Average gamers with a $1K-$2K rig could buy the game and enjoy it as well, but they'd have to turn down many of the settings and not buy anything for a couple of months to offset the $500 price tag of the game itself presuming they built and had their PC's before the game was released.

The game cost of $500 includes things other than the gaming software itself. It includes the gaming headset which allows the players to enter the VR world in the same manner as Kirito and the others do in SAO. The brainwaves are scanned and digitized to allow the player's mind to enter the game world which is what makes it so realistic. It's not just a rig you wear on your head and look at in real time. It's a full-dive game world like SAO.

Another part of that $500 price tag is a USB alarm which can be hooked up to the computer and the time set by the Player to let them know when they need to log off for the day. In-Game, the alarm would come as a visible flash of light in their FOV along with a notification that says "Time's Up!"

Does this all make a bit more sense? Again this is entirely on me for not communicating it properly. The $4K price tag is the estimated cost of a PC that will run the game at max settings without sacrificing performance. It's not connect to the game itself.

It does make sense for the most part, but if you're trying to go for affluence and envy, making her a whale is a much more realistic and understandable way of mocking others. You're a pc gamer like myself, so you should very well know that everyone with all their nuts and bolts up in the head know they're making sacrifices. Most adult gamers also know that if they're given the option to take a 90 dollar motherboard vs the 500 one, that it's just a choice they made. Then you have the fact that some people are playing games like Ark that demand power just to run, while you've got normal plebs like me playing path of exile and league of legends.

So the idea of people being salty over who's running the game at max settings doesn't really jive with me,but it's something I certainly can work with since im not the gm. But as a player, I'd like you to at least consider what you're trying to achieve. People don't get jealous because someone is running better equipment than them. They get mad because someone used real money to buy boosts, gear, and loot boosters in a game they loved. When the competitive integrity of a game people love is shattered due to using real money to set a bar that most people can't compete it, it spawns whale meme. Which are half salt, half joke.

If this saya chick rolls up with max settings, most people would shrug. As its something they can't experience for themselves unless they got off to watch her stream the game. But if she stole a raid boss kill with her shiny +12 bow, when the highest grinders barely reached +5, then certainly that would piss regular players off more.

Sorry I've been inactive. Classes on campus started this week. I'll get that character up either today or tomorrow.

Understandable and another good analysis, though I believe you're overthinking this a bit. Still I'll consider how I can adjust things to make it more of a realistic player-envy situation, and I think I know just the thing.

I'll implement it in my full introductory post with Saya as she fires up the game for the first time when it goes live.

That post will be up sometime either later tonight or tomorrow.

Also your character looks fine to me.

Lel I'm just roundabout in my posts sometimes. That took 10 minutes and I barely edited the post. It was literally stream of consciousness for the second half of the post, recalling reddit and forum arguments about rmt'ing in mobile games and how it was spilling over into real games. Like black desert online, csgo and dlc orientated games.

But yea it's no big deal, I'm just spouting concerns is all.

Also my character needs to be checked Wink

I edited my last post to let you know she was okay. Lol.
