Under the Shadow of The Old Oak Tree (Rp)

BloodRedRoses

Four Thousand Club
Elle was testing her students, in the throne room, infront of the Royals. She was demonstrating their talant and her teaching ability. As she screamed orders at them they did them, in perfect unison, even the little kids. She smiled and said to the group "Well, done you know where the treats are." and they all ran off to get some drinks and a lolly from her prize box

Jonah stood there completely interested in the performance going on before him. "So this is something the younger kids like to do" he said to himself watching as all the small children ran happily to go snack which made him smile a bit before giving out an hefty sigh. He wasn't exactly sure why they had to assess this teacher when she was obviously qualified from the get -go. He flattened down his robe for what must have been the fifth time. He loved coming here every once and a while but he was always nervous of talking to any of the students who were curious enough to ask him something.

The king nodded at Elle and said 'My dear, that was lovely you may get your kids ready for the ceremony tomorrow"

Elle smiled really big and as the older students heard one nudged her and said "That means you have to wear a dress! We will help you pick one!" They explaimed and she giggled and groaned "Guys, you know i hate dresses, they are so . . . Ewww." she said shuddering anf they all said "Please!" she sighed and said "Fine" she said and then she addded "Nothing short! go pick my options" she said and they all scurried of and only the smaller kids remained.

Jayson, or Jay as he was less formally known as, worked tirelessly on his latest project. Most people didn't understand why he wanted to keep his business going, but they had no idea of the appeal working the metal gave him. He yearned for projects every day so that he could feel the heat of the fire and know that his work was going towards something. He liked the place he had in the Oak. It was comfortable, and homely. They weren't exactly rich, but they weren't all that worse off either. They had everything they needed. His job was one difficult to master, and he'd done it well. Now his aunt had arranged for him to be married, and in truth he didn't mind all that much. He had known the woman they had chosen for him for a fair while, they'd practically grown up together, but after the death of his father they had fallen out of contact. he'd dropped out of school to take up a position at the smithy that his father had run and was damn proud of the empire he'd built from it, even if it wasn't technically an empire at all.

Michahael sat in his room, sketching out another of his random little comic strips with a felt tip marker. He had no idea what he was going to do today. Probably the same as yesterday, he thought glumly, fixing his pens as he bumped them by accident. He hated his life here. It was so mediocre. Why couldn't he just be happy with his lot and move on? Because, he thought bitterly, life is a b**** and it hates you to no end. he sighed, ceasing his sketchings and putting the pen down. Should he try again today? He didn't know if he should. Every time he got up the courage to leave his room something would screw up and he'd be left to feel like a fool.

Judith walked through the streets, she had a hangover from the other night. She knew her boss wouldn't like that but she didn't care, she would only mind if the things in the trade shop werent clean. On her way she said hello to the blacksmith and made her way to work trying very hard not to fall asleep but it seemed the glove on her right hand was stoping that from happening. When she got to work her boss looked like she was about to blow up. "Late again you useless child!" she shouted and trew the broom at her. Judith caught it with her good hand and walked into the shop after her with har head looking at her feet she was to tired to talk back. right now anyway.

Jonah had already liked the little kids better than the older ones just by their attitude alone. "Ill have to organize something special for them one day" he thought to himself turning to the ceiling for a bit before finally snapping out of his daydream and turning to his father. "Excuse me I just have to get some fresh air for a moment" he told him heading towards the door stopping for a second when he reached the teacher "You do a good job with the children and I hope to see you tomorrow" he complimented before passing up one of the butlers at the door. "Please fetch the children some real snacks" he asked politely as he nodded and headed off to fulfill the wish. "They should enjoy it" he said with a smile exiting the palace and walking off into the edge of the manor where the fountain was, mostly just to take in the cool breeze it gave off.

Jayson waved a quick hello to Judith as she passed, flashing her a friendly smile and then getting back to work. He was working on a new gate for the farmlands, to replace the recent one that had rusted away. As he worked he heard Michahael's foosteps on the staircase. Putting down his hammer he turned to look at his brother.

'Where are you sneaking off to?' He demanded, causing Michahael to freeze.

'I'm going to get some more art supplies. My favourite pens are running out.' He said, and his brother smiled at him.

'Well good, you need to get out of that room more.' He said before turnign back to his framework. 'Make sure you get back before dark this time. Aunt Kate was worried to death last time.' He informed his brother, who simply nodded and continued down the stairs and out into the street.

instead of heading for the art store, he made his way towards the very centre of the Oak, towards the manor where the Royals lived. Nervously he slipped over the fence, falling and landing on his back with a loud thump. Luckily the sound of the fountain disguised any noise he himself made. He picked himself up off the ground, dusted himself off and crept towards the building, using the trees as shelter. He neared the fountain and saw Prince Jonah and his relief was evident.

'Psst.. Jonah..' he whispered from behind the tree, peeking out benath a branch and hoping the prince would see him.

Jonah let ou a hefty sighed he had been holding in with all the things he has had on his mind lately taking one more look at the pond before he thought he heard the grass crunching which made him do an automated 360 for any sign of danger but all he could find was a boy he had never heard before. His first instincts were to naturally call the guards but he decided it was worth to see what he was here for "Hello" he asked unsure walking up to him.

Michahael bit his lip nervously. Of course, he didn't know him. He knew he was a fool for turning up, but he had wanted to see him in person. Now what did he do? Should he say something or just turn tail and flee? His words got caught in his throat and he shook his head, taking a step backward, ready to run. It was a bad idea to come here, he thought desperately, A very very bad idea.Get out, get out now! His mind screamed at him as he stepped backwards but his foot caught on a rock and he fell backward, landing heavily with a loud 'oomph' as the breath escaped him.

Jonah just stared at the adult oddly as he seemed to be having some nervous issues. "This is the first time someone has ever done this in front of me" he thought to himself as he turned back to the man in time to see him fall back hard. Jonah winced before kneeling down next to him "Are you okay sir" he asked concerned glad he at least didn't look hurt.

Elle smiled and thanked the prince and then said to the kids "Mkay you guys can go after the snacks, see you tomorrow." The elder kids ran back in and handed her a bag, that contained her dress for tomorrow, they said she should hop for jewlery and she agreed she needed a new sword so she headed down to the small blacksmiths, they were less buisy and did better work than the others. She entered and said "Hey." smiling.

Danni walked throug the castles doors, she saw the children and teacher must have hust performed to the Royals, she smiled she stood next to the door while the prince was giving orders to the men to give the children treats then he made his way out. She followed him makiing sure no one saw her she walked outside to the and stood near the fountain. she noticed Jonah and another boy she didn't regognise but instead of calling the guards she waited out of sight to see what they were up to as Jonah said hi. she didn't know why but she was curoius to know what was happening.

After 20 minutes of work Judith decided enough was enough. She walked around the shop until she found a corner when she did she curled up in a little ball and closed her eyes, she was tired so she fell asleep. It only took Ms.wander (her boss) 5 minutes to find her and pour a bucket of cold water on her, she instantly stood up and was about to slap her when she realised she could get fired so she settle for a kick in the knee instead.

It seemed to have stoped the water but after that she was shouted, so she decided to go for a walk around the streets when she was walking she noticed the blacksmith that was talking to a lady so she decided to interupt and walked over.

Michahael stared at the young prince. He shouldn't have come, it was so very wrong for him to have come here. His brother would be so furious if he were to find out that he'd been trying to come to the palace. Still, it was too late. And he was sitting right there. He shook his head to clear his mind of the negative thoughts, trying to find his voice.

'I should not have disturbed you, your highness. I'm sorry.' He said finally, still sitting awkwardly beside the prince. 'I should go.' He said quietly, but he didn't move.

Jayson looked up from his work as Elle entered the workshop, flashing her a smile.

'Well hello miss Elle, What can I do for you today?' He asked, keeping polite. She had been another that he'd grown up with, but they weren't especially close. She'd been the kind of girl he felt was out of his reach, particularly with his future as it was layed out for him. He noticed the bag in her hand and raised an eyebrow.

'Getting ready for the celebration?' He asked. No sooner had he asked this then Judith entered. He flashed her a smile too.

'Well I'm just increasingly popular today.' he flashed them both a wink. While he was generally a reserved character, Jay knew how to interact with his customers.

Elle laughed and said "I suppose, those sneaky kids got me to wear a dress to tommorow's cerimony, and i need a new sword." SHe smiled and laughed again at him comment "I'm sorry, Jay, got plans" she winked. She shook her head and said "But yes, I need a sword, preferably one i can hide in the dress." she said showing him the dress, which went ot her knee's. "You think you could manage that?" she asked

Danni watched the young man as he said sorry to the prince, she was expecting him to then leave but he didn't he just stood next to the prince looking at him. She was confused, she had questions for him and the prince but she was going to aske them later. right now she just wanted to know what they were doing, she didn't mean to spy on them but this was the prince after all and what if the young man was an assasin.(forgive my spelling)

Judith smiled at Jay and Elle "so how was your performance?" Ignoring everything she just said, she didn't know the lady but she heard that the kids from the school were putting up a performace for the Royals and she was pretty dure that that was the teacher. If she was wrong she didn't care, she'd juct act like she didn't know what she was talking about even though she started the conversation.

Damien walked through the upper areas of the city, nobles on either side either stared at him or looked away in either disgust or amazement, he had become a legend, the prodigal son, the prince turned exile turned barbarian then returned to reclaim his birthright.

he adjusted his noble robes, he wore them roughly, not as a prince should, but in the eyes of the people and the nobles, only his little brother Jonah was the prince of the 2 of them, he's now just a washed out reject who refuses to go away, today, Damien had an audience with the king, he turned the corner and walked towards the door, his personal guard of 5 accompanying them, having cast asside their origional self-made daggers and spears for "palace" grade weapons and armour, but like Damien, they kept their tribal tattoos on their faces.

entering the king's chambers, Damien looked up at him, his eyes narrowed a bit, remembering the day of his exile, as his sentence was called out in this very room... coming to the line he could not cross, he knelt down on one knee.

"You're majesty... as you nderstand i have an audience with you... i... ugh, HUMBLY request what this is about..."

the other nobles to the side of the room whispered, saying how he had truly lost his ways of speech to speak to the king with such an attitude.

The king gave his son a discusted look and said "We have found a bride for you, she just left, I'm afraid but if i am not mistaked, she needed to go to the villiage, she is the fighting teacher at the shool, you may go and see her if you wish. She will be at the cerimony tommorow though" she king said. His son was a discrace to him and his family, but Elle, well to him Elle could mean more love for the royal family "Oh, and son we want to pass this of as love, so don't go and tell everyone it is arranged."

Elle smiled at the lady and said "Fantastic, but the kids managed to get me to wear a dress." she said rolling her eyes and looking at the dress and thinking . . . it's not that bad. She found a scroll in the bag, that had the royal seal on it and she opened it and covered her mouth, she was a little pissed of but would not tell anyone, the KING was ordering her to marry his son, the eldest, whom she had never met.

Damien's eyes shot open

"M-MARRIED!?" he exclaimed in shock, this was... unexpected at best, but then as he explained he was marrying a teacher he realized what this was.

if he had never been framed and exiled, he would right now be engaged to a noble woman of one of the highest families, but the king has salvaged his son's disgrace into an attempt to gain some popularity within the masses by marrying off one of his sons to a commoner daughter.. clever.

Damien swallowed "... as you wish... your Majesty"

Damien stood up and turned around, walking out of thwe chamber still with his head held high, just as they exited the room, Damien pulled at his robes, taking them off to reveal more common clothes underneath, its common for nobles to wear 2 layers of clothing, but usually the clothes they wore under were of the finest silk, not cotton and leather like the ones he was wearing "take these back to my quarters, I'll be back later" one of his guards took the robes "yes sir!" he looked over his shoulder "... you're all dismissed, i'm going to find this girl myself"

with this, Damien jumped from the side of the tree, sending some nobles into shock, but he grabbed a branch with ease, using it to swing down several levels, with his experiences in Exile, getting to the village in record time without touching a path would be childs play.

Judith looked at the woman "how lovely" she said but she couldn't managed to laugh a little "names Judith" she said to her holding out the hand she wore her glove. she was anxious to see what the lady was going to do, was she going to refuse her handshake and curse at her like most of the people did or was she take it and treat her like a normal person even though she believed there was no such thing as normal. she looked at Jay to see his reaction as well.

Jayson smirked, pouting playfully.

'Ah just my bad luck then, Aye Elle? It's all good, i have some of my own. That is if my own lovely betrothed intends to turn up any time soon. if not I'll have to abandon her.' he joked, studying the length of the dress carefully.

'If it's not too personal, might I ask why you need to conceal such a weapon on an occasion meant for celebration?' He asked, taking out a measuring tape from the draw and measuring it. 'i should be able to make such a weapon, but it'll be a rush job. You're lucky you came to me, I am the best after all.' He said, flashing them a winning smile. He noticed the glove on Judith's hand but it didn't phase him. They all made mistakes in life. And some people did it to survive. He didn't judge anyone, no matter what they did.

'Judith, lovely to meet you.' He said even though she wasn't speaking to him. He nodded to her slightly before frowning. 'You work in the market district don't you? I don't suppose either of you have seen my brother around anywhere? He left about ten minutes ago, and I know that isn't all that long but still.'

Elle glanced at the glove and smiled "I'm Elle, I'm sure you know I teach at the castle, and what do you do?" she asked she girl after quickly shaking her hand. She didn't hate, or fear anyone who was banished or had a punishment running, of course she may not trust them as much as others but it was lucky that the king had picked her. Most of the ladies in court would be scared of the eldest prince and tend to his every need, Not Elle. She had barely touched the glove, as it did effect the skin and although it might seem rude she didn't want her hands briused or sore, she needed them for teaching and she hated wearing lace gloves. Right now, in her shorts and singlet she was fine, slightly sweaty from running through things with the kids, but she was comfortable.

She nodded to Jay and laughed then " Well, I like to be prepared people always go for the Royals whe they are all gathered, and hopefully you can get it done soon, let me know". She walked out of the store and looked at the jewlwery choosing the most simple and light weight jewlery there was. She then bought heels, as she had never owned a pair and didn't intend to, untill now.

Kristina walked into the Blacksmith's. "Hey Jay!" she smiled. Well, well, well, hasn't he grown up to be just like his father? she thought to herself. When he'd died, they drifted apart. Then, they heard about an arranged marriage. She were slowly beginning to become closer. "What's up?" she asked. She hadn't seen Jay in a long time. She looked around the smith's and smiled. "Look at your little Black-smith empire!" Kristina said, truly amazed. "It's definitely grown," she flashed him a friendly grin.

Loki waited outside for he had no use in discussing his blacksmith need in front of a lady. It might disturb her.

"Well you know I don't mind a few different visits from villagers right" he said awkwardly trying ti cheer the man up patting his hand supportively "Now come on someone like yourself shouldn't be sitting down and talking he said with a smile rising to his feet wiping off any remnants of dirt and dust and looked back at the man.

Judith dropped her hands she was impressed no one had treated her equally in like forever. she dropped her hand and instead of going back to work she decided to stay and talk a little more to Jay mainly because she din't want to go back to the shop "yes I do and no I haven't seen your brother, is he the shy one" "what are you workinng on there" it was none of her bisness but she didn't heasitate to ask as she pointed at the hot iron in the fire. She then looked at the woman that had just arrived she smiled at her, she'd seen her here a lot of the time and knew she was ingaged to Jay but that was all she knew about her.

Michahael sat frozen when the prince touched his hand. What was he meant to say? Slowly he stood up, brushing the dirt off of his jeans nervously and hesitantly.

'i'm sorry, I really should leave.' He said, nervously. He was convinced that once again he had screwed up. He was foolish, so so so foolish. Why had he allowed himself to come here? Every other time he'd been given a reason to give up. he never got anywhere near the prince. But now.. Here he was. Was it foolish of him to be in love with the prince? A younger man he had never even spoken to? He wasn't sure what he should do but he could hear his own heart beating ridiculously fast and an overwhelming surge of courage took over. As sudden as the decision to come here had occured, so did his next actions. He kissed him. Right on the mouth, in the middle of the day amidst the trees. He pulled away, paling.

'I... I shouldn't have done that.... your highness.. I'm sorry..' he said, panicking and turning away and fleeing for the fence.

Jay nodded in response to Judith's words.

'Yes, that's the one. He has been disappearing a lot lately, I was worried that he was doing something illegal or something. It's my duty to look after him you know.' He shrugged, beginning to beat out the kinks in the metal before him again. 'it's a gate for the farmlands. The last one rusted away practically. Although i really ought to start on Elle's shortsword.' He shrugged before hearing Kristina's voice. He turned around, smiling at her.

'Kris! I honestly thought you'd run off with someone else for fear of having to marry me.' He joked, pulling off the leather gloves he wore and moving to give her a semi-awkward hug. 'We were just discussing you barely a moment ago. I was wondering if you were coming to the ceremony tomorrow.' He said, flashing her a brilliant smile.
