    overview.

    L
With a population of a little over 6,500 residents, pinebrooke isn't your average small town. While their large forests, many freshwater streams, and small shops may seem beautiful during the day, the town turns into something different at night. Pinebrooke has been a hub for the supernatural for over a hundred years because of its unique and powerful ley lines. The first inhabitants to claim Pinebrook were humans and werewolves. Together they lived just fine amongst themselves. Then came the witches. For a long time, the three lived in tandem forging alliances and protecting the town from the darkness that lurked in the shadows threatening to take advantage of the ley lines.

One night, a group of refugee vampires from a coven that was slaughtered by hunters two towns over, lay their necks bare to the leaders. They sought asylum. The Alpha at the time along with the witch supreme and the mayor, seeing no present threat let them stay but under certain conditions. They were not to feed on the residents that resided within the town nor were they allowed to turn them unless given consent. At first, all seemed fine, the vampires kept their end of the bargain, Pinebrook continuing in its peace but as the tale always goes, time only allowed the vampires to grow in numbers and so did their greed. It began with mysterious disappearances of the townspeople then progressed to outright murders. Tensions rose between the groups but no leader wanted to admit their wrongdoings until the cord finally broke. War broke out between the original inhabitants and the vampires.

The witch coven tried to keep the peace for some time but the humans and werewolves were fed up with the blatant lies from the vampires. Eventually, after countless of them went missing or were killed, they sided with the wolves. It was too late though, as they were discussing their strategies the vampire coven had launched a surprise assault at night massacring countless humans and witches while the wolf pack was completely exterminated leaving the vampires to take control. Now in 2024, the town of Pinebrooke is run by four covens, three of those covens are vampiric while the fourth are witches. They have a council comprising of these four covens, which means four heads to the snake. While the town seems fine and dandy during the daylight when night falls, those who still remember the town's legends know best to lock their doors at night and try not to wander out after hours in fear of what may lurk in the shadows.

Amid their victory, the vampires missed the few children that were taken away on the night of the massacre by the very witches who deceived them, still holding their loyalties to the werewolves. They took these children far, raising and teaching them their ways until twenty-three years later, three of them decided to come back to Pinebrooke for the sole purpose of selling the house they inherited but within crossing the leylines the spell placed upon them as a security measure that dulled their abilities was broken. Everything supernatural has noticed the flux in power and the vampires aren't pleased. Will our new strangers stay in Pinebrooke? Will they set things right and form bonds along the way or will they just sell the house and leave? By now you should realize that these things are never that simple.

Hi!

Interested in the Witch depending on lore. Or A supernatural. So like what kinda limitation on supernatural types?

There are no limitations! I just ask no overpowered characters! Y’all can have anything from a demi god to a kelpie.

No problem! Thank you for the interest though! ^^

I will be setting up some detailed lore tomorrow on the werewolves, vampires, witches, and hunters!

Just to simplify, Werewolves are born and cannot be created like their cousins the Lycans whose bite is infectious. The only way they can be created would be by a ritual usually done by the pack's shaman. A secret that is well kept within their kin. Some who have ancestry may have genes that never awoke but can be forced out in certain circumstances. For example a life-threatening event, strength from a harvest moon, or even a little push from natural magic such as ley lines. Werewolves also have two forms! The first is their wolf, when a werewolf is born they are often born as a pup and then shift into their human form in a couple of hours, or vice versa. As they grow older the shift is natural to them and requires almost no effort at all, but their emotions can influence them. The second form is humanoid or bipedal. This is where their features change such as hair, eyes, teeth, nails, etc while maintaining their human form. To some, it may come easy while others struggle because one must find the balance for both. Fully grown werewolves can be confused with normal wolves but they are far larger and stronger. They can withstand blows from vampires but it's when they get their arms around them to crush is when it becomes deadly.

Vampires are immortal creatures of the night or so the legend goes. They are created through an almost ritualistic set of steps that fractures the soul. After one has drained most of the blood from a human they must then inject their venom into said victim before letting them feed on the sire's blood. After this, they may pass out but awake to their new life. Each clan has its ups and downs, but most of the vampires have limited resistance to the sun. They can walk under it without burning but it does drain their strength trading it for a fatigue humans may get when they are sick. The longer they are out under it the weaker they get. Blood is their lifeline; they can survive on animal or human blood, but they prefer human blood more because of its quenching and replenishing qualities. Other supernaturals can be fed upon but would ultimately have different effects. Example: Fairy blood is addictive to them, makes them stronger but creates a drunk or high sensation within them. Siren's blood is toxic acting like a poison, and werewolf blood heightens their bloodlust and healing abilities. The infection in their fangs can also kill a wolf or make them sick, acting like a venom. Very few survive. Now if a vampire were to get bitten by a werewolf it wouldn't heal properly and become a nasty scar. The older the vampire the stronger they get but some once turned gain an ability usually unique to them. Ex: the ability to read someone's mind, see memories through blood consumption, minor shadow manipulation, faster than other vampires, etc. Rarely is there a vampire who is created that can use an element, teleport, or block another's abilities just to name a few but it isn't unheard of.

Witches are humans who carry a specific gene that allows them to tap into the magic around them using their bodies and tools as a conduits. They have to have had fairy, elven, demon, nymph, or dragon blood within their heritage at one point. Those who do not but can still wield magic are either full supernaturals or demigods. Each coven carries its own traditions and ways that it uses its abilities. The abilities also have a wide range from minor plant manipulation to infusing healing magic with herbs to create potions, to even being able to communicate with animals. The rarer abilities would be blood control, telepathy, and the kiss of life but they are not the only ones. Depending on the blood in their heritage the witch or wizard has an affinity. Ex: elven blood is connected more to nature so plant manipulation and animal telepathy would be more prevalent in their line. Dragons can be fire manipulation or resistance to magic in general. Fairies carry a broader range of elemental magic and can be shapeshifters or be telekinetic. Witches descendant from demons may have a physical trait that is very unusual, ( an animal tail, eyes, or scales, etc.) but their magic is also more ritualistic. They can do possessions, their words can have certain effects on others, they can carry demon fire or even in some rare cases blood magic and necromancy. The nymph is connected more with water magic and emotions so they may be able to influence someone's emotions or take pain from another.

Hunters are humans who have an evolved or enhanced psychology. They are faster, stronger, and more agile than your average human with better senses as well but by no means are they immortal or supernatural. It may be harder for them to get sick, but they do eat a lot to replenish the large energy pool they have within them. Many of them over the centuries have used magically enhanced weapons or artifacts to hunt down creatures of the night.

EDIT: the supernatural roles can also be doubled for another witch if someone decides they want another witch/wizard spot.
