Rowan bit her lip, walking silently for a moment. "And what is it you want Kyle*?" She couldn't help but to ask. She didn't want it to be solely about her when they were both involved. Though his words made her feel more at ease, because she honestly had no idea what she wanted and she was hopeful that they could take their time to figure it out.

Kyle* smirked, "I grow up here, Rowan. I honor our traditions because I understand them. I would like to honor all of them." He glanced at her, before shacking her head, "But you didn't grow up here, so I can't really say that it's right off me, because I think you would make a very good wife. I think we could work out well, but at the same time, I am going to be a Guardian and I won't be able to be around like other husband's. It's a little harder to expect someone that want raised here to deal with that. So, honestly, I would love be go through with it, but I understand why that is selfish and shouldn't happen at the same time."

Rowan nodded and looked to him, giving him a small smile. She reached for his hand and gave itna light squeeze. "I'm sorry Kyle. I'm sorry I am being the selfish one. There's no reason for me not to just agree right away and yet, there is something that stops me every time. I don't know why, I guess it's just because of how I was raised in the human world." She said gently.

Kyle* smirked at her, holding her hand, "It's fine. I understand. I guess you can call it a family trait, we don't judge against different ideas and opinions. I don't expect you to agree or do anything you don't believe in." He shrugged, "It's not selfish to do what you believe it's right."

Rowan's smiled some and nodded. "Thank you Kyle." She said gently. She didn't understand why it was so hard. He would be perfect, he was kind, handsome, understanding, and he always made time for her. She held in a sigh and looked forward as they walked. She knew she should let him get back to work soon.

Kyle* smiled at her, "I have to turn here, but if you want, we can talk more about it all later. If you want, you can meet you later to talk more."

Rowan smiled some and nodded. "I would like that." She said. She took a step and then remembered something. "Oh! Where should I go for the Sight test? Or I guess that can be one of the things we talk about later too." She added.

Kyle* frowned, then sighed, "Well, normally, you would go with the Guardian of the Tower, to the Darkness. But since my father is gone, if you are going to do the test, I'd send you with a team." He stated and then smirked, "It's the only way I can think to be sure. Normally, there are three tests done in the lowest part of the Tower." He paused, as they got to where he would have to turn, "Rowan. I'm just letting you know, your father might not understand, because he didn't learn healing and most never understand the law, but there is a reason further then it being hard to know what a half breed will be. But, if you are like me, it'll be a miracle, just your existance is a miracle. Biological, Shadows are unable to create outside their own, with the mate surviving, almost always the child or mate dies."

Rowan's eyes widened a little. "R-really?" She whispered. "I...I guess that makes sense. My mother did have difficulty giving birth to me. It was probably just the doctors keeping an eye on her. My mother said they had told the doctor there was a history of complications. She only told me so I would be aware when I got older." She said. She stopped talking, realizing she was rambling a little. "I didn't realize things were like that." She added, looking to him again. She was surprised her father would have taken the risk.

Kyle* sighed, "Well, it's not widely know, your father probably wouldn't have known. Just figuring that the complications were because they were different." He smirked, "But she did and I have my ideas on how, but the important part is she survived and so did you."

"Maybe when we meet up later you can tell me more about that." She said, she smiled a little and gave his hand a light squeeze. "I should let you go. Thank you for giving me some time to talk to you." She said with another gentle smile.

Kyle* smiled, gratefully, as he nodded, "Yeah. But we might have to wait for morning. It's getting late and hopefully tomorrow you'll have one of your tests." He stated, "I'll meet you for breakfast. You should start getting settled in your room."

Rowan smirked and nodded. "I'll see you tomorrow. Have a good night Kyle." She said as she moved to go. Still smiling a little to herself. It hadn't occurred to her to ask for the pass code to her new room until she was gathering her things from her father's room.

Rowan found her father already in his room when she returned. He didn't seem to hear her come in and she saw him sitting on the edge of the bed holding a photo of her mother. The entire time since he had been 'awake' Rowan couldn't help wondering if he would mourn at all for her mother. Seeing him now she couldn't help but to remember everyone mourned differently and he was raised in a world where Warriors didn't have time to mourn.

"Dad?" She said quietly. He looked up startled and then gave her a smile.

"Hey kiddo. Here for your things?" He asked. Rowan nodded, moving to the desk where everything was. She still had not fully unpacked, knowing she wouldn't be staying here, she didn't see a point in getting too comfortable. It would be the same in the room she was moving too.

"You wouldn't happen to know the code to get into my new room would you?" She asked. Nicoli smirked and shook his head. "Why don't you ask your new neighbor?" At the look Rowan gave him, Nicoli laughed. "I'll come with, perhaps I can talk a little sense into the boy. I am the one he is mad at." He said as he got to his feet and together they left the room. Rowan wasn't even sure Emery would be in his room, but she knocked anyway.

Emery was drawing at his desk, it was something that came into his head a lot. He still had an hour before they would allow him to start going on guard again with Jean.

"Emery?" Rowan called out gently, knocking again. "Emery I know you won't like it, but I need some help." She added. Nicoli stood back a little, his arms crossed as he observed carefully.

Emery ignored her the first time but sighed, pissing his chair back the second time. He growled as he opened the door, "What now? You know, there are others that can help you." He growled at her, before noticing Nicoli, "Well, if I knew killing you would get you to give a damn, I would have done it myself."

Nicoli smirked a little, but otherwise nothing in his demeanor changed. He simply observed. Rowan's jaw clenched a little, but she turned her focus back on Emery. "Hector moved me to the empty room next to yours. It was suggested you might know the code." She said. She hoped he would give it to her, she was tired and she needed to go over everything she and Eric had found so far. "Please Emery, I don't want to pester you, if you show me the code now, you won't hear a peep from me the rest of the night. Or any night that we're both here. If you don't I'll bang on this door all night." She added, hoping to get it out before he slammed the door shut in her face.

Emery glared at her, "You do know, I could kill you right? You are a human in the wrong world, don't threaten me." He pointed out, "And have you tried your hand. All rooms had a print of their owner's, before they put a code. It's not that new, if you were smart, you might have thought of trying the door, since Hector didn't specifically give you a code. So, your father can show you how to set up your coffee, now. So are we done?"

Rowan clenched her jaw, and then gave him a tight smile. She was going to kill her father. He should have known that and she suspected he did. What was he trying to do? "We're done. Have a good night Emery." She said, her tone chilly as she moved to the other door. As she did Nicoli stepped forward to speak with Emery.

"I prefer you keep your anger directed at me little Warrior. I know you're mad at me, and as I understand it you blame me for your brother's death. That's fine. But from what I also understand, she has done nothing to earn your anger." He said, his tone cool and even.

"Dad leave it be." Rowan said, sounding a tad impatient.

Emery looked coldly at Nicoli, "Then maybe you should be the one to save her. This is a war. Or maybe you forgot what that is? But some of us actually care about our traditions and remember our people, no matter where we are. She is a threat in herself, or have you forgotten, a Tower is only as strong as it's weakest member. Guess who that is." He smirked humorlessly, "I'd keep your challenges to yourself, you aren't better then anyone, anymore. And you won't be the best again, you have fallen too far behind." He stated, "I might not be who you were, but neither are you."

Nicoli smiled coldly. "Kid, you will never be at the level I had been at or even what I am at now. That girl," He pointed to Rowan. "Is far more powerful than you know. In fact there are only a hand full of people who do. You come from a higher line of family and I respect that, but it gives you no right to act like you do. We have all lost someone, we have all had family pressure. You're no different from anyone else here Emery, you're not better than everyone just because of your family and skill. This Tower means we're a family. I know I forgot that, I know I turned my back on this place, but my daughter had nothing to do with that. This is her new home and her new family. Don't forget that." He said. There was a challenge in his tone.

Rowan clenched her jaw again and then turned to the door to her new room. She did what Emery had said and the door opened easily for her. She was a little surprised, but quickly stepped in. She wanted to hear what they had to say and at the same time she was just tired of it. She went to the desk in the room after setting her stuff down and took out her sketch pad. Before she realized it she had found herself drawing Emery. She quickly turned the page and started a new drawing. She drew the bear that Emery loved so much.

Emery looked coldly at him with a stone face, "What you are now, got you killed. As for that girl, if she is so perfect, next time, she can break a few bones. And you are in no position to tell me what this Tower is. You lost that right, the moment this was started and you ignored it. I'm not better because of my skill or my family, but I am better because I know what is at stake, I am a Warrior of this Tower and I didn't leave it for someone I had to lie to. Or did you actually explain the whole Shadow world to your wife, the only you replaced your betrothed for." He stepped closer to Nicoli, "You haven't a right to lecture me on anything." He smirked coldly, "You should be grateful you could return and Helena hasn't used her power to make sure you and your daughter never set sight on this Tower again."

Nicoli smirked. "I am lucky, because Helena is a far better person than anyone I have ever met here." He shrugged a little, he didn't step back or forward, just kept his arms crossed and the same calm demeanor about him. Rowan always used to think it was infuriating. "Maybe you're right, maybe I have no right to lecture you anymore, but you don't either on matters you do not fully understand yourself." Now he did take a step forward. He was only a little taller than Emery, but Nicoli was a tall man. "One day Emery, you will be thanking her. I can't tell you what for, that's her secret, my daughter's, just keep that in mind. You can continue to hate me all you want. How you treat her is still your choice, but just keep that in mind." He said.

Rowan got to her feet, she could still hear her father and Emery outside talking. She bit her lip, then went to the wall between her room and Emery's. If it was like her father's room and Helena's, then she should be able to open the wall. She took the opportunity and tried her luck. A grin spread across her lips as it opened and she gently lay the piece of paper with the accurate drawing of the bear on the floor. She slid it forward a little so it would be near his desk. She caught a glimpse of the drawing he had been working on, but didn't dare step in further. She retreated back into her room and shut the door in the wall. Adam was right, Emery was a neat freak, he would notice the drawing.
