Trapped In the Nightosphere

Things don't go quite as planned when Marshall Lee Kidnaps Princess Bubblegum to the nightosphere as a joke and they aren't able to get back home.

Princess Bubblegum was deep in thought as she perfomed experiments for a new cure in her lab. She was still working on a way to bring back the dead candy citizens with out them ever becoming zombies again. She was almost certain she's be able to figure it out this time. The only problem was that the cure she had develpoded kept causeing the candy peoples DNA to mutate in undesirable ways. She was so concentrated on getting her cure to be perfect that she was completely oblivious to everything around her. She had done everything she could to get rid of any distractions, her hair was pulled away from her face as not to bother her and the Bananna Guards had been ordered to turn away all visitors for the day unless there was an emergency.

Black hair drifted with the light breeze as the vampire prince floated above the Candy Kingdom. His red Converse pointed towards the ground, back arched. He watched the world from upside down, his dark eyes scanning the light colored houses. He'd been looking for a prank to pull on the Princess for months now, her high-senses and vast knowledge often resulting in a failed attempt. Today, however, would be different. He had the nastiest of tricks up his sleeve, and was extremely determined to get a rise out of the bubble-brain. He drifted in through an open window, his chin still pointed to the ceiling, eyes parallel with the ground. He gazed over the pink-skinned girl, her face stern with concentration. He slid along the ceiling, his hand coming up. A claw scratched along the surface, sending flakes of candy-dust to the floor as the Vampire began to etch something into the royal's ceiling. "You've been a hard one to crack, Peebs." He smiled, making his presence known. He moved his other hand behind his back, fishing in the large red-plaid book-bag he'd been holding. His hand came out, a carton of bug-milk in his hand. He raised his eyebrows, still watching the girl from up-side down. He sliced open the card-board, taking a quick swig before throwing it against the smiley-face he'd scratched into the wall.

"Maloso vobiscum et cum spiritum!" he cried, before jumping down from the ground, wrapping his arms around the princess and shooting into the blue-green glow. The nightosphere portal almost vibrated with dark power as he pushed his way through the swirling portal, an entertained laugh escaping his lips.

They crashed into a bed of red-rock, Marshal Lee letting go of the princess as she toppled over him. A hearty laugh rumbled from his chest, his palms pressed to his abdomen where his stomach muscles worked at the amusement.

Princess Bubblegm was in the process of scribbling down her observations when she felt flakes of candy dust from the celieing fall onto her head and get in her hair. Just then her head shot up to look up just as Marshal Lee's familar voice hit her ears. " Huh? what are you doing here? I'm busy can't we do this some other time" She said annoyed and anxious to get back to her work. He had been so bothersome lately, always trying to find some way to prank her and right now she just really wasn't in the mood. She shook the candy dust out of her hair and was preparing to give him a peice of her mind and get rid of him when he grabbed her dragging her into the Nightosphere portal with him.

PB fought agaisnt him kicking and screaming trying her best to wriggle out of his arms as they went through the portal. "What the Heck!?" She screamed at him then groaned as they both hit the rock, her falling over top of him. She quickly rolled off of him and pushed herself up to stand over him. She pushed a few strand of hair out of her face that by now had become a mess of pink tangles half up and half down and scowled at him as he layed on the ground laughing " Oh that's right laugh it up, because I swear to glob you are going to pay for this!" She warned him. "Do you know what you just interupted? I was this close" She said holding up her thub and forefinger for emphasis " to finally making a cure and you messed it all up. Why do have to be so childish?" She said frustratedly. Watching him laying there laughing just got her blood boiling and made her want to just punch him in the face but she refrained .

The sound of her furious voice made Marshal lift a hand over his red lips, trying hard to stifle a laugh. Her angry words flowed over him with force, erasing the joy from his light-grey face. He stood to his feet slowly, brushing his red pants off. Scarlet dust fell around his legs, his dark eyes glancing over Bubblegum's features. "Sheesh, Peebs." He said, smoothing the wrinkles of his shirt down before lifting off the ground in a half-hover, his legs crossed in a pretsle-style. "I was just having a little fun." He said, shifting his body so his eyes were inches away from hers, his hair brushing lightly against her chin as he rotated, his head parallel with the ground again. He sighed at her harsh accusations, calling him a child could hurt some. Just because he was over a thousand years old, just a few hundred shy of PB's age, didn't mean she could treat him like a baby. "You're so uptight. Admit it though, I got you good Princess." He smiled, his fangs glistening under the roaring fires of the Nightosphere. He blinked once, lifting his pale fingers and brushing a stray pink hair from the girl's eyes, tucking it lightly behind her ear.

"I'm not a child, I just get restless." His voice was soft, free from all worry. He knew the bubble-brain couldn't stay mad at him forever, she needed his company, just like he needed hers. "What were you even working on? It smelled disgusting. I thought princesses were suppose to play with tiaras and tea-sets, not chemistry labs and dead disciples." He chuckled at this, moving so he was now laying with his hands rested behind his thick jet-black hair. "You're almost as messed up as I am."

Princess bubblegum moved her hands to her hips shifting her weight on to one foot as she watched the amusment run out of Marshall Lee's face. Her anger was begining to fade and now she was only annoyed at him but she still wasn't anywhere near ready to forgive him, at least not yet. "Why does your fun always have to involve annoying me?" She asked him seriously and turned her face away from his as she felt his hair brush against her skin. What was with him? Why was getting under her skin so amusing to him, even now he instisted on being just close enough to make her uncomfortable I mean what is with that? " I am not uptight!" she said defensively " SOME of us just have better things to worry about than silly pranks" She added making another jab. There was no way she was going to admit he'd actually gotten her good for once, even if she did think it. She turned her head back to look at him causing a pink strand to fall back in her face to which he respoded by brushing behind her ear. PB did her best to remain completely still as he did this keeping her face void of emotion because she knew he was only teasing. When she heard the tone of his voice change she sighed defeated she couldn't stay angry at him, and he knew it and he was using it against her. It just wasn't fair. "well if you must know, I'm still working on a way to bring back the dead candy people but this time they shouldn't turn into zombies" She explained her voice much softer now. " oh whatever that stuff got boring fast and I'm not nearly as messed up as you are. I am trying to help people, you play with dead things just for the fun of seeing their blood and guts" She said pushing him lightly

He stayed silent, listening to her defensive tone with eyes closed. He yawned, teasing as her voice squeaked with anger. He lifted one pale lid, glancing at her from under dark lashes. "I just happen to find it hilarious when you do things like this." He said, motioning to her freak-out prior to this small conversation. His dark pointed ears perked up at the mention of bringing back the dead. "I can bring the dead back, easy. They'll just smell a little funny, and probably try and eat your pink little flesh." He felt her small hands shove against his side making him spin dramatically, placing his hands over his un-beating heart, mocking her weak push. His tongue lawled out of the side of his mouth, floating just below her waist. "Ahh! You got me... I'm... dying princess." He let one arm go limp, his back arched so his chin pointed towards the ceiling. He stayed like that for a few moments before growing bored again.

"So, do you know how we get out of here?" He asked, his palms pulled towards the ceiling, his shoulder's shrugging. The vampire knew exactly how to get into the Nightosphere. Getting out was the difficult part.

She only rolled her eyes at him when he said how he got his kicks out of getting reactions out of her. She shouldn't even bother respoding to him because that was only what he wanted anyway but she couldn't help herself and she hated it. And of course he only became interested in what she was saying when bring back the dead was mentioned, how typical. " If you were listening you'd know I wasn't intrested it that" She said in response to his offer. She shook her head at him when he teased her by pretending to be dead "If you're not careful I'm going to bop you one and you are going to wish you were dead." She said playfully this time.

It was when she heard him ask her how they were going to get out of the Nightosphere that all amusment and playfullness left her. "What? are you seriously asking me how to get out of here? This is the first time I've been here. This is supposed to be your domain shouldn't you know all about it Mr. Vamprie Prince?" She asked him. This had to be a joke right? I meand how could he not know how to leave the nightosphere hasn't he come back and forth tons of times. Yeah this had to just be another one of his pranks she had convinced herself of it.

His smile slipped away, a glare forming under his brows. His grey eyes darkened more, teeth bared. "Well excuse me Princess." He scoffed glancing around them at the unfamiliar air. "You know my dad and I aren't exactly... well talking right now." He raked his fingers up the back of his head, making thick black hair spike. His hovering deflated at the Princess's tone, making him sit upon the dirty ground with his chin tucked in his palm, propped against a bent knee. He stared at the ground for a long while, silence settling over them. "It's not a joke." He mumbled, adverting his gaze from Bubblegum. A large half-faced creature floated above them, long limbs folded under a cheek-less face. Little people glanced at the two Candy Kingdom citizens as they shifted away, towards his father's castle. He let a long sigh escape his lips.

"I didn't think this far." He admitted, like this was the only explanation he had.

PB began to realize he wasn't joking by how defensive he became. She held back the urge to become angry again because of course he hadn't thought this through he never thought anything through. But watching the Pale dark haird boy shrink to the ground she felt bad and sighed as she wracked her brain for a solution to this predicament they had found themselves in. "Yeah I kind of realized you weren't joking when you got all scary vampire on me" She said sitting down next to him with her legs crossed. She looked around noticing the Nightosphere creatures passing by and scooted closer to him. "Well there has to be some way out of here. Do you think you could at least try asking your dad for help?" She asked as she pulled a hair tie out so she could gather her hair into a messy bun on the top of her head. " I mean I know you aren't on the best of terms but he knows how to get out of here and we need to get out" She said gently she knew this was a touchy subject so she was trying to tread carefully

When the princess slumped next to him, he glanced at her sideways, his grey irises falling along her soft pink skin. Her skin barely brushed against his arm as she moved closer, causing him to go rigid slightly. He wasn't use to people being so close to his un-dead form, the social contact making him feel awkward and silly. "I can't just go up to my dad and ask for a freebie back to Ooo." He stated, loosening his stance when he found that PB was shrinking close to him from fear of the unknown creatures that dwell in the Nightosphere. He got to his feet, a small grunt escaping his mouth. "But there's no use in not trying." He said giving into her small voice. He hovered above the ground, his legs crossed at the ankles. Marshal held his palm out for her to grasp as leverage to hoist herself up. "Just be careful here Peebs, pretty little things like you are a light snack here." He said, poison dripping from his mocking tone. He was only half joking, knowing there were certain things in the deepest parts of the Nightosphere who wouldn't think twice about swallowing the Princess whole. "Just stay close." He said firmly, his dull eyes slicing with warning.

She was prepared to have to agrue with him more in order to get the son of the Nightosphere king to talk to his father. Suprisingly he hardly put up a fight and agreed fairly quickly. " So how exactaly are we going about this then.. just go up and ask him? because I have a feeling it's not that easy" She said as she grabbed his hand and pulled herself to her feet brushing the dirt off her pants before standing up straight. She nodded seriously with a grave face in response to his warning. Even if he did have to make it sound like a joke she understood he meant it and she wasn't about to go putting herself in danger just to spite him. " Okay.. so I assume were going that way" She said pointing to the ominous looking castel in the distance and took a few steps in that direction.

Marshal nodded, his back hunched over as he floated above the ground just inches from the Princess. His eyes glanced around them, the red-rock steaming with un-naturally dense smoke. He gave Princess Bubblegum a quick once over, his gender showing true when his vision wandered slightly.

Something unsettling caught his attention to the left of them, his eyes narrowing as he flitted in front of the princess, his hand falling behind him, barely brushing razor-tipped fingers against her nose. "Shh." He warned, his finger falling against her lips to silence the pink-headed woman. He fell to his feet, silently stalking to the east. His pointed ears perked up, the sound of heavy breathing bringing his senses on edge, he crouched down teeth bared. Purple glowing eyes peered at the two from the threshold between the darkness of a hissing stalagmite, and the fires blazing just behind it. A large puss-covered hand gripped onto the edge of the scarlet stone, putrid breath falling along Marshal's face making his bat-like nose twist up in disgust. He coughed at the smell of soiled blood and sour morning breath, sharp yellow teeth pulled up in a tight grin. The vampire backed up slightly, his arm outstretched to protect Peebs in case of an attack. He growled, his lion-like rumble vibrating the ground around him. The Nightosphere creature stepped forward, lanky arms swinging at the Vampire Prince. He felt long claws barely graze against his chest as he leaped back, his spine colliding with Bubblegum. He grabbed her by the wrist before she had enough time to fall. His grey eyes pleaded as he glanced back at her, letting go of the pink skin. "PB hide." He said slowly, another four-foot thick hand smashing against his body. He fell against the crimson rocks, an audible crack rippling through the air. He felt stars swim in front of his eyes, a large palm slamming against the male's chest. Blood shot from his mouth, splashing against the leathery skin of the purple-eyed demon.

"Wrong person to mess with." Marshal spat, his body growing. Dark pupils grew over his whole organs, teeth jutting out like elephant tusks. Soft black fir grew along his shifting body, limbs rippling as thin skin stretched over blade-like talons. His nose mushed up, making the man resemble a giant bat. His snarl was heard through the space, their brawl shaking dust from the ceiling. He flattened his hand, throat still in the grasp of the violet-hued creature, and smashed the tips of his fingers into the side of its head. Black liquid rushed form the new wound, bathing the ground in a thick blanket of goop.

A scream slashed through the cavern, sending a pile of rocks to fall to the ground. Marshal pushed his body away from the creature, falling over the Princess, his fir-covered hands falling over his head. He made it so she was protected under the arch of his body, boulders smashing themselves across his spine. He winced, long gashes slicing through his skin as the steaming boulders crushed around them, burying his previous battle opponent in an eternal grave. Marshal Lee stayed in that position, his bat-eyes staring down at the pink figure, making sure she was unscathed. "You okay?" His voice was thick, his large form looming.

PB was turned away from the creature that was emerging behind her and was faceing Marshall Lee. Her eye brow razed as she noticed him check her out and then advert his attention to something behind her. "What is i-" she began to say as she turned around to see what had caught his eye but before she could even finish her sentence she was cut off by his sharp finger meeting her lips. She did as he said and stopped talking and only stood up on her tip-toes in order to look over his shoulder to see what had him so on guard. As she looked over her eyes met with the glowing violet ones of the creature pulling it self out of the darkness. The creature's eye bore into her causing her to stumble backwards. She had no idea what that thing was but from how the vampire boy reacted she knew that it wasn't good.

The princess couldn't help but scream when the purple-eyed monster landed his first bow that sent the pale, darked haired boy tumbling into her. She made a small sound as she was nearly knocked to the ground, if not for him catching her wrist. His pleading eyes hurt her more than she could describe as he told her to hide. "I can't just leave you, you're hurt" She said refusing his order. She wanted to help him and be useful some how. The only issue was she was completely out of her element here. She had no knowledge of the Nightosphere creature that was attacking them, and so she had no idea what would be the best way to go about fighting it. She was frantic to at least do something as Marshall suffered another blow, one that made her cringe at the sound it made. She searched the ground for something she could perhaps throw at the monster to at least distract it for a moment or two so the vampire prince could recover. Her eyes landed on a large rock which she quickly ran and got using all her strength to pick it up and fling at the Creatures head "Hey! Leave him alone!" She yelled as the rock hit the creature with little effect other than seeming only to annoy it more. It did however divert its attention long enough for Marshall to turn into bat form which is exactly what she was hoping for.

PB ducked out of the way and behind a rock as the creature lunged but was stopped by the bat-like vampire. She had to cover her ears to try and block out the snarls and screams that echoed through the space as they fought. When the walls began to come down she knew she was in trouble and she curled up with her arms over her head bracing herself for impact but was confused when it didn't come. She slowly moved her arms away to look up noticing Marshall's looming figure over her, protecting her. This wasn't her first time seeing him in his Bat form but every time she saw it she could hardly fathom how he could go from the pale lanky boy he usually was to this gigantic ferocious bat that he was now. And it was that thought that ran through her head as she took in his huge form over her. It took her a moment to process what was happening so her reply to his question was a little delayed. "Huh? yeah..I'm okay, But you're not" She said concerned noticing him wince as the rocks hit him.

Once the cloud of red dust had cleared, Marshall's large black form decreased. His clothing billowed from under the soft downs of fur, ripped in places where his body had become too large for the fabric to handle. His sharp breaths through his long teeth became harsh, his back covered in scarlet liquid from the multiple impacts of sharp boulders along his spine. His hands were firmly planted on the ground, claws digging into the ruby-colored ground. His eyes were screwed shut, black hair barely brushing over the Princess' forehead. His knees were on either side of her hips, body still loomed over the pink figure. He winced, moving his aching body to the right, toppling over on his side with a low grunt. "Don't worry, I'm fine." He tried to push himself up, his elbows quaking as his attempts failed, sending him falling face-first into Crimson rock. The side of his face slammed against the ground, a gash splitting open along his eyebrow. He gritted his fangs together, making another attempt to stand. His body was refusing to hover, due to the injuries along his pale back. He opened one dark eye, focusing hard on making sure PB was alright. "You didn't get hurt right?" He asked, blood falling down the side of his face as he brought himself to his knees.

(( Ugh it's short, I'm sorry x.x))

She watched him worry showing clear in her eyes as he srank back to usual size his injuries seemed even more severe. Her breathing became a little uneven as he finally went back to his normal form pinning her to the ground before falling to one side. "You're not fine" she said pushing herself up to a sitting position watching him make attempts to stand. "Stop moving you idiot" She said crawling over to him on her hands and knees. She gently putting one of her small pink hands on his shoulder careful not to touch a wound and pushed him down so he wouldn't try to get up again. "I'm fine, now let me help you" She said sternly. She wasn't going to let him shurg her off and pretend like he wasn't badly injured.

"Just do what I tell you and this will go a lot smoother." She told him as she began to rip the rest of his mangled shirt off so she could better access his wounds. She used some of the scraps to clean away the blood from all the gashes in his back. She used the other pieces to make makeshift bandages. "Lift your head" She ordered as she carefully pushed his hair out of the way in order to tie a bandage around his head to stop the bleeding from his eyebrow. She used all she had left to make him a little pillow which she help guide his head onto once she had finish bandaging him up. "It would have been better if I had some water and clean bandages, but I did what I could with what I had" She said shrugging wishing she could have done a better job. "You need to lay there and rest for now, don't try moving because it will only cause more damage." She said laying down on her side her face just a few inches from his.

(it's alright)

He felt small hands reach for his shoulder, the sudden touch making him flinch. She pressed down, willing him to lay on his side. "I'm fine, now let me help you" her stern voice making him lay completely still. "Just do what I tell you and this will go a lot smoother." He narrowed his dark eyes, sitting up with his mouth open ready to protest. Then her fingers were wrapping around his torn shirt, ripping the seams with force. He almost freaked out, his eyes going wide. "Hey, what are you--" He was cut off by the sound of his shirt being torn into scraps. "Wh-- that's my favorite shirt!" She growled, moving onto his stomach, his bare elbows pressed into sharp rocks, keeping a wound along his chest from touching the ground. Something rubbed against the raw skin, making him snarl as pain swelled under his tender grey skin. He let her work, biting down on his lip as blood peeled away from his slowly healing gashes.

"Lift your head", her order made him blink, his neck straining. Her small smooth fingers brushed across his cheek, pulling sticky black hair from the long cut along the side of his face. His brow stung as she wrapped his skull in a thin layer of plaid shirt. He let her stuff the remainder of his bloodied clothing under his head. He ignored her spout about water and needing to lay still, his impatience getting to him. He was about to sit up when the Princess lay next to him, her face just inches from his. He paused, his head tilting back down, black locks falling along the ruby dirt. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, lips pursed together before he finally spoke. "Thanks for fixing me up." He paused, his neck snapping facing her direction. "And for ruining my top." He spat, half joking, half completely pissed off.

PB ignored his protests he was going to have to give up the tough manly thing eventually and it was starting to get kind of annoying. "Oh shut up that thing was already ruined. You ripped it to shreds when you turned into a bat, I was just making it useful." She said brushing him off. "Can you please just stay still for a little bit please?" She asked him almost begging. She didn't want to fight with him. " If you just rest for a little you should heal up pretty soon, you are a vampire after all. so just be patient" She said and adjusted herself on the ground moving one of her arms underhead to cushion it. The rock was very uncomfortable but she thought she could get him to stay still longer if she layed with him.

"Now that we have time, tell me what the heck the thing you just killed was." she asked him partly just to distract him from his injuries and also out of genuine interest. Nightosphere creatures were definitely something she would start researching once she was back at her castle, but for now she was going to pick his brain of everything he knew. " Where did it come from? Is it always so hostile? What does it eat?" a million questions raced through her mind and she asked them all as she thought them. She then paused to wait with large expectant eyes for him to answer them all.

Marshall sighed dramatically, his eyes pinned on the small holes in the ceiling, housing many different dark creatures. He stared up at their harmless yellow hues, watching them peer down with curiosity. He was silent while she spoke, her voice ringing in his left ear, causing irritation to build under his skin. He could already feel the flesh along his back begin to tighten, wounds healing into long thick pink scars. Her questions washed over him all at once, making him turn his head to look back at her. A blank expression formed over his face, his fangs poking out from his thin pale lips. "I have no idea where it came from, it was probably born in a cave." He said, answering her first question. He placed his hand in front of his face, inspecting his nails before raking the claw of his pointer finger along his tooth, sharpening it. He could feel his energy beginning to buz again, his body floating a few centimeters off the ground. "They're called Deamons. Born nasty, die nasty." His voice was now soft as he turned on his stomach, floating above the Princess with a strange grin on his face. His hair fell over her face again, knowing how much it irked her. "They eat Princesses, and basically anything that doesn't have the capability of flying away." His eyebrows raised, red tongue flicking from between sharp teeth. "You're interested in some strange stuff Princess."

Princess Bubblegum sighed dissapointedly when he gave her a blank stare and simple answers that she could have come up with. He was not giving her anywhere near the detail and accuracy she was looking for. She supposed if she really wanted to know all about it she'd have to look it up herself later. Becoming slightly bored she rolled onto her back and closed her eyes as she listened to him tell her the rest of the answers. It was when she felt the tips of his hair brush against her face that she opened her eyes and scrunched up her nose. Placing a hand flat on his chest she pushed him up so his hair would no longer bother her. "Ugh why do instist on doing that?" She asked and rolled out from under him easily pushing herself to her feet in one fluid motion. " I'm intrested in lots of things, pretty much anything I don't already know about. Besides if I had known more about the deamon I could have help more when you were geting the snot kicked out of you" She teased

"Now that you seem to be alright, I propose that we start moving. I don't think staying here is really the best idea" She stated looking around her. She had a feeling that wasn't the only deamon around and there were probably other creatures that were just as nasty or worse and if they stayed where they were it was only a matter of time before more showed up.

Small fingers pushed along his cold chest, making Marshall shrink away at her warm touch. He let her gather herself, pushing from the ground into a standing position swiftly. "Because I know it pushes your buttons." He said, baring his teeth with a half-grin. Her next statement sent a shock of irritation through his back. She didn't know anything about the Nightosphere because she didn't need to. This otherworld was not a place for Princesses, especially ones wanting to build an eternal colony, they'd have to look elsewhere. He ignored her knowledg-soaking mind, anger spreading like wildfire. "What use could you have been? I just saved you, not like you'd notice that. These creatures don't need to be justified, they're dangerous and that's all you need to know, your highness." He said the last word with emphasis on the 's' flicking his long tongue between his teeth to make a hiss. He moved higher, making sure he was at least arms-length away from PB's head, his arms crossed over his bare chest, ankles hooked together again. The red fabric fell across his cheek, making him grab for it. It ripped from his forehead, exposing the fine scar along his brow. "Way to be obvious." He murmured as they continued.

Marshall was on edge now, glancing all around them, dark pupils increasing in size. His fine-pointed nails were stretched out, making a claw along his hands. They came to the muddle of fallen debris, his face turning down in a tight frown. It would take the Princess hours to scale the wall of scarlet rocks. He sighed, harshly, and dipped down. Grasping bubble-brain in his arms quickly, he pressed her tightly to his chest, shooting forward with increased speed. The only way out was narrow, barely big enough for the two to slide through. This made the vampire move the girl closer, their checks crammed together as he slipped them through the tunnel with ease. He hadn't realized he was holding his breath until they sliced through the other side, scars raking against the jagged edges, without injury. He slid the pink girl carefully onto the rocks, his eyes rolling slightly. "This would be loads easier if you were a Vampire, Peebs." He said, taking in their surroundings. They were met with the same blood-red solids, only fire licked their insides, slamming to the ceiling with deadly force. Fire Daemons danced within the ember glow, eyes light up with joy. Marshall took the initiative, losing the sight of his father's domain behind a thick wall of flame. He cleared his throat. "Do any of you lovely ladies know the best way to get to the domain of Hunson Abadeer?" He asked, only to get a glowing coal chucked at his temple. A roar of laughter erupted from the dancing embers. "Ow!" He rubbed the bridge of his nose, anger swelling again under his skin. He was about to cast all logic aside and plunge straight into the hot mess...

PB Was taken a back by his sudden angry outburst. She was only teasing him but his moods changed so quickly it was impossible to anticipate how he would react. "Look, you are the one that got us into this mess and whether you like it or not we're both here. Thanks for saving me but I don't really want to sit around when some creature crawls out of glob knows where and starts attacking. So excuse me for asking for a little knowledge about them so maybe you wouldn't have to save me since it's such a pain for you" She fired back at him her eyes glaring daggers. There was no way she was going to let him yell at her like that. She wished there was some place she could go to get away from him but all she could do was turn from him walking a a far away from him as she could get.

When they came to the wall of rocks that had blocked their exit when Marshall brought the rocks down on the purple-eyes deamon, the candy princess was fully prepared to start climbing and had even grabbed one of the rocks to pull herself up when the vampire prince swooped in grabbing her. "Hey! put me down I could have done it myself" She said as he pulled her into his chest. She squirmed slightly as his grip tightened making her face press to his he was holding her so tightly she could hardly breathe. As they squeezed through the small jagged opening rock scraped against her tearing first her pants and sweatshirt, and then into her pink flesh slightly causing her to groan. She continued to glare at him as he set her down saying how it would be better if she was a vampire "Sorry for the inconvenience" She responded her voice dripping with sarcasm. She hated when he just picked her up like that with no warning it made her feel like a child he keep treating her as if she was incapable of doing things for herself.

She sat back inspecting her clothes where they had torn and the scrapes she had received while he addressed the fire deamons. She only watched the flames flicker admiring how they danced and how he tried to charm them into giving him the information he wanted. She had to hold back a laugh when his attempt as smooth talking only got him with a hot coal to the head. It was when his anger swelled and he seemed ready to fling himself into the fire that the princess intervened by quickly moving from her spot and grabbing his arm to hold him back. "Marshall stop lets just go around there is no use in bothering with them" She said trying to reason with him.

Something grasped his arm, making Marshall stop in his tracks. He whipped his head back, black hair falling across his cheeks as he glanced into the Princess's pink eyes. He looked from her hand around his wrist, back to the stern facial expression strung across her face. He blinked once, realizing what he'd been about to do. "You're right." He said, and d ripped away from her grasp. "We'll just go around." He mumbled, trudging forward with his hands stuffed in his pockets. He glared back at the Fire Daemons, his eyes like daggers.

They moved up a steep path, the rocks along the sides of them gradually shrinking in size until they were on a narrow strip of red rock. He tried to peer over the wall of flames, but his vision failed to see past the bright glow of the dancing women. He stopped them, his bare arm flying out to keep PB back. He placed one foot over the thin natural bridge. Small pebbles fell into the darkness below. Marshall Lee cupped a pale hand behind his pointed ear waiting to hear the small objects hit the bottom. After a few silent moments, nothing occur ed makimgbpanic rise in his throat. "I'm not letting you set foot on this thing." He stated, refusing to clash their gazes.

She was relieved when he relaxed and listned to reason instead of impulsively throwing himself into the wall of fire. She quickly let go as he ripped his arm away from her. "Good" she said following behind him as he left the fire deamons to go in another direction. She took mental note of the fire deamons, although unfriendly they were no were near as hostile as the other deamon they incountered and for that she was glad. " don't be angry at them just because they didn't fall for your charm" she said as she noticed him glare back at them.

She followed behind him with out a word as they made their way up the narrow path of rocks. She took in her surroding noticing that all of the nightopshere seemed to be made up of the red rock, no plants, no water, nothing. The place was just a huge red destert full of deamons. She came to an abrupt halt when his arms came out to stop her. "Whoa..." She said as she peered over his shoulder her eyes going large as she noticed the death trap of a bridge. " Good, because I don't want to be anywhere near that thing" she said as she took a few steps back as she did part of the rocks broke away and went tumbling over the edge which caused her to loose her footing and fall backwards.

The sound of the princess stepping back made something in the back of Marshall's mind make him snap his neck back, glancing at her in time to see her fall backwards. His actions were blurred, hand shooting out to grasp her by the waist. His fingers curled around her small hip, pulling her sharply to him as the ground caved in beneath their feet. His other arm shot around her shoulders, pressing her tightly to his bare chest as he hovered above the crumbling stones. "Be careful." He breathed, his fingertips brushing over her bubble-gum hair. "If you wanted a hug, you could have just asked." He teased, and moved so he was laying just above the endless pit, PB laying across his long torso. He didn't let go of her, his eyes pinned to her face as he moved slowly across the large cavern that stayed behind when the bridge fell into the grasp of the darkness. "Don't look down." He mumbled, his hand falling along her cheek. He said this more to himself then to Bubblegum, knowing as soon as he glanced down he'd lose his focus, sending them into the spiral of black below. His hands trembled, cold sweat forming along his brow as they ventured across the stretch of emptiness for what seemed like hours. Don't look down. Don't. Look. Down. Don'tlookdown. He took deep breaths trying to calm his form before he could have a chance to lose his grip on reality. "Well this is fun." a nervous chuckle fell from his red lips, fangs gleaming as a weak grin plastered along his face. His face said he was fine, his grey eyes screaming otherwise.

PB shrieked as she fell backward she was sure this time she was going to die. Her eyes were wide with terror and she reached out trying to find something to hold onto. relief spread over her when she felt Marshall Lee's firm grip around her waist and shoulder.she clutched on to him for dear life because he was the only thing keeping her from falling into the dark abyss as the rest of the rocks crumbled away. "Marshall this is really not the time for jokes" She said nervously all amusement and playfulness leaving her. She wrapped one one her arms around his neck and held on to his shoulder with the other as he moved them so they were laying horizontally in the air. Her eyes were full of terror as she faced down into the bottomless pit " That's easier said than done when I don't really have anywhere else to look but down" she said her voice shaking slightly. She forced herself to look away and focus on the face of the boy under her. She could tell he was just as terrified as she was right now he was just doing a better job at keeping it together. " It's going to be okay" She said comfortingly as she buried her face in his neck so she wouldn't be able to see the pit below them her voice muffled against his neck. She held on to him as tight as she possibly could her breathing uneven and ragged. She was terrified of heights and of the abyss and she was anxious to be away from it.
