Artemus Rosiel
Age: 17Appearance:
Artemus is often mistaken as younger than he really is due to his small figure and delicate features. It'd be a lie to say he doesn't milk these traits to gain favor in certain social situations. For this reason alone, he does take his own appearance into consideration when going on an outing. However, if he sees no benefit in dressing up, he won't think much about how he readies himself.
Personality:
There was something always off with Artemus. Beneath his charismatic gaze was an unfeeling individual who couldn't really feel the same way as those around him. While he has learned how to display the right emotions and read the situation, he doesn't really experience emotions like other people around him. If it wasn't for his father's heavy guidance on him it's a wonder what path Artemus would have found himself going with his anti-social tendencies.
Love, joy, fear, and sadness, all of these are foreign concepts to Artemus. The only real thing that seems to excite him is delving into the darkest corners of humanity, uncovering disturbing truths, and watching a person unravel when their ruse comes to an end. In other words, Artemus with his father's guidance has become interested in becoming a detective of sorts.
Role You're Playing:
Recruited Citizen
Background: (Their story after hearing about the murders and everything)
Artemus was one of the first people to hear about what was happening, often spending his free time at his father's side to read over past cases and current cases to bounce theories with his father. Of course, his father being a resident consultant for the police was pulled into the murders and disappearances. Although Artemus was fascinated with such abnormal occurrences, his father kept trying to withhold information for this more serious case. This only seemed to entice Artemus more since if his father was so against sharing the details of the series of murders and disappearances then it must be something big.
It was no surprise to Artemus when his father eventually disappeared while investigating the strange happenings in town. This, of course, allowed Artemus to have free roam in his father's office, and while he did acknowledge this to be a tragedy he had expected as much to happen. Artemus remained quiet, doing his own investigations until the police had started accepting help from the citizens. They hesitated at first with Artemus's age but eventually relented due to the influence of his father's name.
With the People, With the Police, or With the Kidnappers:
Despite working with the police as a recruited citizen, Artemus is intrigued by the kidnappers and is open to the idea of siding with them. To him, they have a clear advantage in this that he is interested in learning about even if it costs his life. Of course, at the end of the day, the only side he's on is his own and has no qualms with changing loyalties based on his own interests and benefit.
Anything Else:
- Only his father knows about Artemus's anti-socialism and was planning on getting him evaluated again once he was considered the legal age of diagnosis. For this reason, his father was very careful with Artemus's upbringing knowing full well that if he was raised poorly he'd be a danger to himself and those around him.
- Artemus's mother is unaware of his true nature, and after coming to an agreement with his father, they have kept her in the dark. His mother is more of a stay at home mom, doing piano lessons as a paid hobby.
-Artemus once had a dog ( Bailey)-- well it was more of the family pet that Artemus just put up with. He never really liked Bailey and would often "accidentally" lose his grip on the leash or leave the door slightly open so that Bailey would run-off. On one of her outings, Bailey got hit by a car. He only feigned a grievance when his mother wanted to get a new family dog and he insisted that getting a new dog would be an insult on Bailey.
-His father knew Artemus didn't have any attachments to Bailey and had the general idea that Artemus simply looked the other way on her last outing. He made sure to reinforce that this sort of behavior was incorrect and banned Artemus from having any pets.
-Tabitha, the black stray cat that often lingers in an alleyway he passes on his way from school is not something he would consider a pet . . . Though he does feed it and maybe has even gotten stuff for the cat. He doesn't really love Tabitha but does find a strange enjoyment in her company. If he were to ever have a pet, it would be a cat as he has noted them to be more favorable than dogs who are annoyingly needy.
