Fantasy Tomorrow

CJ Mason

Are you sure about this?
I was walking upon the skyscrapers, that go across the Chicago skyline. It was approximately 6a.m, when the sun started to rise, the main rule is when the sun is up, we can not use our abilities, unless were not surrounded by humans. Looking at the time again, I knew that I would have to return the dark hole that I hated with a livid passion, our noble leader always wants back in the hiding spot by the break of dawn.

*Quickly Teleports*

As I entered the base, I got the chill of something was up. This was not a good thing. "Hello is anyone home?" I shouted. The entire placed echoed. It was if no one was there, but I could sense that someone was.

A redheaded girl could have been seen seen leaping from building to building, moving stonework or teleporting before collateral damage could take hold. Still.. that was if you somehow had some sort of night vision. The green eyed, well freckled trouble maker now took comfort seated on the edge of a large grey building overlooking what felt like a new annd strange planet.. but in reality was Chicago, the never too humble city.

Her skin was slightly flushed and her hair a mess, but expression calm as she contemplated next course of action. Well.. back to the hidey hole. Sighing with slight disappointment, she teleported her way back into her new home, ending up next to her fearless second in command. Sensing slight tension and uneasy atmosphere, she stayed quiet and eyed him with curiosity.

"Do you also feel, as if were being watched?" I asked Gus. I teleported into the nearest room, and noticed that something was missing. The watch that his father had given him on his eleventh birthday. That watch meant the world to him, it was only real connection that I had with the outside world. Who would have stolen the only dearest to him? Why would they do such a thing. All that I knew, is when people start to return to the hiding hole, this place is going under lock-down.

Gus bobbed her head. The paranoia was evident in his expression could be detected if not evident in what she could read mildly. Being the last and least known ability, she had little to no control over telepathy. Teleportation was the easiest. Telekinesis was the hardest to control... and she was still unsure about the other thing.

"Hey. Why would anyone break in? And if they.. are still here, we should seal exits."

Ella jolted awake on the cold floor as a train rocketed past on the subway. Slowly she pushed herself up into a sitting position, her body aching from the rough night. Hey, it was uncomfortable but it was warmer that the night before so she was doing okay. Now to work out how to eat today and what to do next...

I quickly teleported back into the common room. "Gus, my fathers watch is missing, and some other items," I explained to her. I thought I could feel someone trying to read my mind. I quickly shoved who ever it was out of my head. "Someone is here, I can feel them trying to read my thoughts," I said. Where could Ella and the others be.

Gus swallowed, looking around with a timid eye. Unusual for her nature.

"Locking down now wont do us good.. if he can read thought, this person could probably port too."

She frowned at what he said first and waited a second.

"We'll skin'em and get your watch back.. wait. How much did he take?" Sh thought of Bernadettes many carvings and sculptures during her art loving days.

(By the way, gus is a chick with a guys name, from her last name Guster. If it helps, she can go by Irene.)

((I knew she was a girl, I must have been typing quickly... Sorry))

"They took some of the money from the safe, but I don't care about the money. I care about the personal items that he took. The things that might have our DNA on them," I explained to her. I opened the door to the room where no one else was allowed, but the commanders. I just left the door opened. I didn't care if Gus just walked in. We had literally files and files on each person, we have ever encountered. Including the people that were living with like Gus, and Gil

(All good!)

Gus looked in first, mouthing are you sures in preperation to test his judgement. Well, while nobody was here to bum her joy and curiosity, she followed, making sure nobody followed behind her, though the effort was pointless.

"Soo... you've got every bit of everything on us? How did people keep track of all this.. or know who we were before hand and what about-" her rant was cut short by a sudden pang of anxiety and attention.

"Well.. i think we are still missing our members too.. and they should be here by now?" She looked up to Zack as she did with the other superior members and relied on them to know more, but she was afraid he might be on the same boat here.

"For all the information you see in this room, it is data collected by the IGRHS, they kept tags on everyone of us. We had people on the inside help hack there mainframe." I told her. To be honest I had no idea where everyone was. This was starting to frighten me. "How about you go topside, and look for others like Ella and Gil. They should be around here somewhere. Know Ella she probably fell asleep on a train track," I laughed telling Gus this.

Gus nodded with a large goofy grin on her face and gave a thumbs up. Ever the childish one there, she hoped to lift spirits at least a bit.

"Probably is.. it seems about right for'er to do something like that. Alright! But be safe." With her last words before teleporting away held some concern.

First place she landed was as usual the station. The long haired and elegant Ella could be seen stirring from her slumber. Though she had yet to meet the girl, she knew her to be the only other female so far that has been found. The redhead watched from afar before approaching, perma-smile in tow.

"Hm.. hi. Ella right? Im Guster, Gus for short. Wanna get something to eat in a warmer place?" She offered with naive friendliness.

I was hoping that Gus could find Ella. I started to look through the files, looking for the only one that could have broken into the hiding hole. I hated that the person that broke into the base, was near, but could not be found. The only file I was looking for was missing, the file of the only person that had been here and left alive, that was a enemy.

Niko shoved his hands in his jacket pockets a scrowl taking up his normally cheerful face. Rain came down soaking his clothes and matting his hair down as he moved through the crowds flooding the streets. He should have been back at the station ten minutes ago but some IGRHS newbies caught him just as he was about to teleport and chased him. He escaped in the crowds and is now trying to find an ally way to duck into so he can teleport.

His eyes lit up as he saw a dark ally way and he hurried into it. After cautiously checking to make sure he was alone he grinned then teleported. He appeared in the middle of the base and was immediately on guard. It was to quit and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up like someone was watching him. Warily he scanned his surroundings. "Anyone here!"

"Niko, thank goodness your alright, everyone but Gus, you, and I are missing. We have had a thief in here tonight," I explained to him. "Over twenty-thousand dollars has been stolen, along with some files, from the filing room, and a few personal belonging." I walked over to the computer that sat in the leaders command space. "CAL show me the footage of the base for the last 6 hours." I said to the computer.

CAL: "Sure sir, his is the footage of the base for the past 6 hours."

"The reason I told CAL the past six hours, was because, that was last time anyone of us were here."

Niko frowned eyebrows furrowed in worry. He silently followed Zach to the computer thinking. Was it IGRHS? Did they take something that would endanger them? How did they even find this place though? Unless... His eyes widened as a thought came to mind."What if we have a rat?"

"You know, I was thinking the same thing," I said to Niko. I started to look through all the files, and none of them were really sticking out to me. "Niko, can you go through some files and see which ones actually stick out to you? None of them tend to be sticking out to me sadly," I said quietly.

As I walked over the computer again looking at the footage, no one seems to be popping in or out. This must be a skilled teleporter, or they know how to mess with footage, to make them look like their not there. But if you slow the footage down just enough, you can notice teleportation particles in the footage. This person was a very talented teleporter, and I knew who it as, but I don't feel like sharing that with my comrades just yet.

Sitting at a long table in the weaponry room, Anastasia had up to twenty gun on the table. She was taking them apart, cleaning them and putting them back together, only taking her time. Anastasia wanted to make sure all the guns were ready and clean in case anything was to happen. Even though she was one of the two soldiers here, she was put in charge of the weapons. Sighing, she took off her leather jacket and laid it over the chair next to her. Placing the AK-47 down on the table, she moved over to the Bayonet. Anastasia smirked as she started to take it apart.

I heard some noises from the weapon room. That could me Gil or Anastasia was in the base. Only the leaders and soldiers had access to that room. If someone were to teleport into the room, the alarm would sound, even if it was a member of the group. "Anastasia, I didn't know you were here," as I entered through the the door. "Didn't you hear us shouting if anyone was here?"

Looking over her shoulder at Zach, she shook her head. "Nope but you know me. Once I get in the task of cleaning all these weapons, not much could phase me." She turned back to the Bayonet as she set it aside next to the other clean ones. Then she reached for the Alexander Arms AAR15 Rifle. "Anyways, you mentioned shouting. Why were you shouting?" Anastasia glanced over her shoulder before looking at the Rifle.

"We have been stolent from." Niko scrowled leaning against the door way. In his hands he held a file he was skimming through." Worse we have no idea who it was. For all we know it could have been one of our own."

She nodded. "Well, it wasn't me. I'm in here good portion of my time." Her mind rushed with thoughts. Placing the weapon down before turning around and leaning against the table crossing her arms. "When did this happen?"

The city disappeared and Gil found himself in the base again. The teleportation gave him vertigo for a second. He stretched his hand over his eyes. Gil knew he looked groggy and sloppily dressed. It was how he came across these days. The word stressed came to mind, except Gil wouldn't apply that word to himself. Maybe just unused to his new living situation. His hands went into his draping blue jacket. There was a pistol at his hip, the outline hidden in the folds of his t-shirt. He preferred not to use it. The gun had a scuff across the plating even though he only fired it twice. Gil strode inside the hideout and looked for signs his fellows were around.

Gil made a face. The place felt off. His instincts, which were probably linked to his abilities, usually steered him in the right direction. Gil upped his pace. "Did something happen?" He said. Gil put a hand on the wall and peered in at the others. He glanced from side to side as if he could figure it out for himself just by looking. "Sorry. I should have come back earlier."

"We've been robbed, by one of our own," I told Gil. The situation was slowly getting out of hand. When things normally we send Anastasia in to read their minds. But since not everyone was here, I found it pointless to have the minds read. Being second in command can be very tiring at time, since the first in command was out of the country, and looking for more recruits. Since they have left me in charge, the place has went to complete turmoil.

"I want this place under complete lock down, when members come back and join in the main hall, make sure their wearing one of the bracelets that disable their abilities, til I remove them," I said to Niko. "Here, I'll even be wearing one myself, and only Niko will have control of my bracelet."

"Anastasia I want every mind read, starting with mine," I told to her.
