[To Throw a Spanner in the Loom of Fate] The Dawning of Hope

You acquire the horses and are assisted in getting them onto a barge to take you down the river to where the slavers beached. It takes you till evening for you to catch up to them. You see about a dozen guards escorting two dozen young men and women.

"Any ideas for a plan aside from go in swinging?" Jacquelyn studied the caravan with narrowed eyes. It seemed best to start in a point between the majority of the guards and the majority of the would-be slaves.

"Just keep your weapons concealed, follow my lead and strike when you're close enough. Oh, and you focus on the front, I'll take the back." Gabe walked out into the road, and called out, "Ho, travelers! As a friend's advice, do you know where you are? The leaders of this land don't take so kindly to slave traders."

The guards snap to their weapons as they look your way startled. The one who appears to be their captain steps forward. "Well it's fine we aren't slaving in these lands just passing through."

"Transporting slaves seems like a part of slaving to me." Jacquelyn scratched the side of her chin as she regarded the train. Keeping her weapon concealed was easy- didn't look like a weapon and was always hidden in the billowing folds of her robes.

"It's more caravan work. I take it you are from that new metropolis starting up?" The men are still on guard but the captain smiles. "Still I'm being rude, please why don't you and your friend join us."

"Well, yes. Thank you. Some company wouldn't hurt." Gabe's eyes cast to Jackie for a moment. Once they were lulled down, the guards could be taken down quickly.

She shrugged and smiled, making sure it showed in her eyes too. Looked like they were going the backstabbing but efficient route. If this wasn't a trap on the captain's part, they'd get to choose when to pick the fight. Minimize the effects on the slaves.

A smile as he waves you over. The cook seems to be finishing dinner up and they hand out plates of the stuff to everyone. The leader sits and takes a bite of the stew that was made. "Eat up, we got lucky with our foraging and can make a delicacy of my home. It's a form of Venison stew."
