[To Throw a Spanner in the Loom of Fate] The Dawning of Hope

"In general, I believe that choice is one left to the individual. However, I do know that there are raids done on villages, land owners turning on serfs and so on for the sole purpose of getting slaves. It was never a choice of 'live a slave or die a freeman'. And I know there are vast numbers of slaves that are not in a place where that choice need be made, let alone forced upon a person."

"My plan is to show Creation that a nation can stand strong without relying on atrocious institutions." She shrugged, "It would be arrogance and vanity to assume that I could succeed at taking on all Creation. It is a very large place. I am content with Cauldron and if it distresses me that I cannot reach beyond and convince others of my ideals, I can remind myself that I have done as much as I can. However, if you are intent in building a temple within Cauldron, you must know what type of place this is, for on this topic, I shall accept no exceptions."

She did not mention how she hoped to use Cauldron's future influence to spread her ideas on slavery as well as many other things nor how the Immaculate Order might be subject to other restrictions. Perhaps ones that they might feel stronger than giving up something they already did not have. Better, Jacquelyn didn't mention how if a temple was established... she would find away to use it to spread her ideals as well.

Gabe kept his eyes on the Essence trails, dissecting it thoroughly and calmly. He'd know soon who did this and what they did. "Even the primers are useful enough, though. And perhaps someone doesn't want us to know they're looking into what we know."

(@BA) "Yes Sir." It was part of a mental attack of some sort the exact nature of what it can be you can't make out. It is just potent and not done by an awakened mortal. Most likely not a dragon blood as well.

"Sir would you like me to increase security at the more secure locations? If they go after those books we could be in trouble."

(@Teki) A smile. "Still a bold plan but one that will be fascinating to watch in the future. Still we have wandered from the subject. I am not a slaver and we will not try to change your ways into allowing slavery. We are not a subversive group, we simply wish to bring serenity where ever it is needed."

"I never believed you to be. If I had, its very likely this discussion would be a great deal more heated," What she would have wanted to do is come down, deliver an impassioned speech and tell the man to take him and his and never return. How it would have played in reality would probably be a bit more sneaky to avoid negative retaliation, but fortunately neither were the case. "When I said that I wanted you to know what place, I meant, for the sake of everyone, this is how different we may differ from everywhere else. Ideas and institutions held as 'just how things are' may not hold true here."

(@Teki) "Yet there are things that must remain as they are. We must worship the gods. The Anathema can not be tolerated. The specifics can be argued but the core of those truths still remain."

(@BA) A flash of realization. When the incident was supposed to happen there should not of been any teachers present.

She would have been too lucky if he'd never mentioned those dreaded Anathema. It was also too early with their interactions to openly disagree. "Just those two things?"

A benign smile. "There are things that I consider such, as I am sure there are things that you value above all. The gods keep the world running and it is by our worship that they gain the praise and adoration needed." Not bothering to mention the second as to him it's a truth just as much as the fact water is wet or that fire is hot.

How odd that he needed to explain the first, but not the second. "How likely would it be that any other monks sent here would hold the same ideals?"

"Those two, almost guaranteed." A considering look. "There are of course many others but some of those are open to an exact interpretation."

"Dorn... who reported the break-in? I wish to speak to them. Someone's been masquerading as a teacher."

(@BA) "A hmm, that's strange. I could of sword I wrote it down." Snapping a look at you. "Sir, do you want me to secure the secure books?"

"Then a considerable passing thought. In truth it's nothing just a rumor that I heard a while ago involving this general area. We are getting distracted from my reason for seeking this audience. I do hope that you will see it as a good thing for us to found our temple here. If nothing else it will put those of the Immaculate faith at ease."

She let the topic change go because he was right. Jacquelyn had managed a bit of round about herself, though she pondered what rumor could possibly apply to either herself or Cauldron, "I will be honest then, I will have to discuss the idea with the others and see what they think. It is an important decision, and they must be involved. If your timing did not coincide so closely with the arrival of so many other interested parties, it might've been a quick process. Alas."

She turned and gave him a considerate look. The next words she spoke were out of concern for him, "I do not want to commit to any time line, both because I do not know how much attention the ambassadors will demand and because I will not allow any such decision to be made lightly. As you noted, the spiritual care of Cauldron is exceptionally important."

"Where are you currently staying?"

"That is fine. As for a place to stay your city has a fine tavern that rents rooms. My fellow brother secured our lodgings already. To be honest I did not expect to be able to see you so soon." A smile as he stands up. "It is rude of me to keep you from your duties entertaining a minor monk with arguments of philosophy."

"Not at all, I was the one who chose to come here, and I hope that we can continue our conversation at some point." She wondered how the gods were entertaining the other guests, "And if you have any problems, please let me or Nezza know."

Once polite good-byes were done, Jacquelyn headed towards the school. Time to exchange updates.

"For now." Gabe took a few steps away trying to think. Ok, mind magic involved... obviously magical beings... Spirit? Wait... the lack of memory Dorn mentioned prompted a suspicion. Sidereal?

(@BA) Dorn salutes then marches off smartly to take care of the books. The quietness of the room seems to echo as you hear approaching footsteps (Teki approaching)

Gabe turned as he saw Jackie approaching. Quiet as the room, he looked at her, then finally said it. "I think it's finally happened."

"Which finally?" There were several inevitable things -as they judged it- bound to happen. The Immaculate Order attempting to set up shop was one, as were the pair of ambassadors (acting as forerunners of a multitude of complications), there was still the Siderials, running into Lunar mates, and really, there would be a lot happening in their long lives.

"The fate-ninjas came to take a look, I think." Gabe said. "I think one of them is behind this break-in."
