i have a couple questions if it’s okay!!! just some things i’m thinking of while i work on my cs, because i’m trying to come up with ideas/openings for where my character could have connections to other characters.

1) how are the mechanics of the story going to work with house wylde sort of being the “odd one out,” not being in europe? is it safe to say the story is going to take place in europe and any members of house wylde, despite their “base of operations” being in the US, will generally travel to europe? it’s tougher for them to interact with the other houses if there’s an ocean between them, haha. ; v ;

2) do squads of deathdealers from different seethes ever cooperate with each other? i had an idea for my character possibly being assigned to a sort of trainee role to some of the kaltenbruns (she has a lot of combat training already, but i still imagine she’d need to learn the tactics of how deathdealers work, specifically). maybe it’s a contracted job of some kind and some of the more politically-minded kaltenbruns accept it as a way to cultivate favor in the court, with godric being her sire and all? rennick doesn’t seem like the type who wants to be a mentor to anyone, lol, but maybe some of his pack members roped him into it, feeling like he’s a good representative of what the pack has to offer? Managarmrr Managarmrr

i’m just spitballing, feel free to let me know if any of this doesn’t work! c: rennick being a fellow deathdealer seemed like a good opening to try and plot some connections, i still have to think on the other characters though!

Yes, Rennick would absolutely hate being a mentor (especially for a former monster hunter), and yes, it is absolutely something that his family members would force him to do lmaoo

I assume your character hadn't left America while she was a monster hunter, so they probably couldn't have met before. But maybe Rennick fought one of her former mentors and he can tell by her fighting style or a piece of gear she carries? We could even say that Rennick crippled them, but nearly died in the process and barely escaped with his life, just for a bit of extra tension.

And luckily, we have the Deux Ex Machina of maaaaaagic. The Wyldes have witch members who provide them with regular portals from America to Europe, and those portals let out near a few of the secret entrances to the Court of Blood in England, Germany, and France, so that Wylde House members can be involved in Court business.

As for plotting, hm... How long will your character have been a Născut by the time the story starts?

I was going to ask about that and see if I could have Godric have a portal shipped to America.

The other Houses would never allow it given that they barely tolerate the upstart House as it is xD But since it gives the Wyldes near-instantaneous access to the Court anyway I can't imagine it'd be much of an imposition.

I like the idea of a snarky rivalry. Even though Calli is a younger, weaker witch, Thea would definitely react to little undermining comments and insinuations and just generally let Calli get under her skin because she has no chill ;P
Yaas, lol snarky rivalry it is!!

sorry for any delays on my part! work has me doing absolutely grueling hours rn, lol. ; v ; i’ll be catching up on plots after my shift today, and tomorrow i finally have a day off, so i hope to finish my cs then!!

The Varney heir is under WIP and should be up in a day or two owo finding a face claim and name had me in a choke hold xD

Ayama Ayama I'm excited to begin dipping into this. The roster looks pretty stacked as of now so it's nice to know where some areas could use members. Unsure of doing multiple characters at the moment, but I had an idea for a male witch, though I'm curious what the magic system is for this world. Portals and potions have been mentioned, but are there spells and other such things?

There are indeed spells, though most would require the assistance of pre-prepared ingredients and the like- what ideas do you have for your witch?

I was thinking of one involved with odder forms of magic. I'm primarily thinking of one that uses the Tarot, and has closer links to the fairy (some ideas I'm thinking is the witch possibly being a clown or charlatan of some kind that uses Rider-Waite and Shakespearean symbolism or something similar?)

I'm thinking he'd maybe some sort of soothsayer that also uses runic cards/spells or something similair? Not a spellslinger obviously, but an ethereal kind of magic is what I'm thinking.

Interesting concept- I'm intrigued!

I'm looking at possibly aloigning with the Ruthven family, but there are tons of NPCs; would that inflate the roster too much?

ahhh, i LOVE the idea of rennick having fought and crippled one of her former mentors! o: the more tension, the better imo huehue!!

i've been wondering how much her being a former monster hunter is open knowledge. on one hand, i can imagine it being kept sort of a secret at first from everyone except maybe the heads of the houses, with the concern being that any random vampire could try to take it into their hands to get "revenge" on a former monster hunter now that she's among their ranks? on the other hand, i'm sure her being sired by godric would be a deterrent to that, since it's probably not wise to mess with a moroi's "property," lol.

i was just thinking it'd be really interesting if the kaltenbruns didn't actually know at first that she was a former monster hunter. like it was framed as something like "this is godric's new bodyguard; she knows how to fight but doesn't work well in a team. we need you to fix that." but then once he sees her fight, rennick very quickly figures out that she used to be a hunter and that he fought her mentor. it could be a way to show how well-attuned he is to the way hunters fight after doing battle with so many.

right now i have it that she's only been a vampire for three months, but i can definitely adjust that timeline—i like the idea of her being a fresh enough vampire that basic vampire things like controlling your thirst, feeding, and having a general sense of your abilities are still a struggle for her, but obviously not, like, a just-turned-yesterday vampire who can barely function, lol. as far as plots, i think at the bare minimum, with her serving as godric's bodyguard, she would have at least met/been in the presence of most of the characters godric himself has interacted with over the last few months?

I like it! I think Mara's mother probably would've told her about Godric's new guard being a former hunter, and to be wary of her. I also think Mara might view her as a potential source of information, and she might try to get close and act friendly to manipulate her out of it ;P

oooo, i love that!!! c: omg, as much as she likes to think it isn't true, i think my girl is actually quite vulnerable to manipulation, LOL. she's very prickly and slow to trust others at first, but if mara were persistent and convincing enough, maylee would probably start to let her guard down because she's desperate for someone to be a friend. 💀

I think I've started to nail my character concept; My character will have been plagued by witch abilities from a young age before learning of the Green One, before leaning into it; visions of future possibilities, meanings of the present, and dreams of festivities shape the many years he is alive, and begin his journey of becoming a very skilled witch/warlock and studying the nature of the Green One, and the fair in general. I think he chose the Ruthven House due to their dreamleaping and mental-focused ancestral powers associated with the family, and was able to work his way up to be well-known for them over time; I think he is also allowed to meet and consult with those outside the Ruthvens due to the Ruthvens desperately wanting to keep their antics secret from the family? Or something like that.

Omg I love her! And I really look forward to seeing how things between her and Mara play out- maybe they'll end up changing each other's minds, or maybe there will be a spectacular, betrayal-driven blowout xD

Oh yeah I like the idea for why your guy would be drawn to the Ruthvens ^^

Squad141 Squad141 Gadiel is so intriguing! Since it looks like he's been around for some time, do you have any initial thoughts on him vs. Thea or Mara?

Gadiel is finished! I'm very satisfied with how he came out, since the Ruthven family seems like a really interesting dynamic to encounter.
