Three's a Crowd

"Hey!" Evangel wrapped her arms around him with a great big smile. The whole scene was so peaceful. She loved the lake, and was hoping tonight would be fun despite the drinking and such.

She glanced around at everyone that had arrived so far. It wasn't even that late, so she guessed more kids would show up.

"Kay, so... Where would you like me?" She asked, noticing there wasn't any more chairs available.

Jace grinned and wrapped his arms around her waist before he leaned down to kiss her, as usual. He pulled away and looked around. He smiled at her question and sat back down in his seat.

"Right here," He answered, patting his lap. He didn't think it was too big of a deal unless she would really rather just sit in her own chair. They were dating after all. He knew that his friends could be assholes sometimes but they were just messing around if they ever made comments about her or them dating. They all liked her. He took a drink from his beer and waggled his eyebrows at her playfully.

"You look hot," He complimented, looking her up and down. She had a great body and he loved when she actually decided to show it off. And she was just pretty in general but damn, that body.

Evangel returned his kiss, a little harder than she usually did. With a playful smirk, she slid onto his lap and kissed his cheek, looking into his eyes a moment.

"Well thank you, I thought I should try something new tonight," she responded. If other girls were coming, she didn't wanna appear like that nerd girl. The girls in this group were some very gorgeous girls, and she didn't want to just fade into the black like usual.

As she got more comfortable, Evangel leaned back against him and smile peacefully.

Jace looked down at Evangel and smiled, meeting her gaze.

"Well I think you look wonderful," He told her sweetly and put his free arm around her waist as she leaned back into him. He took a drink from his can and offered it to Eva, just thinking it was the polite thing to do although he was almost certain that she would deny it.

~

Against Atticus's better judgement, he'd made the trip out to the lake but not before picking up two of his best friends to tag along. He did this for a few reasons. One, most importantly, if Eva did decide to ignore him, he'd have someone to hang out with and still have a good time. And two, if Eva did hang out with them, they'd both have each other if they didn't know anyone else. He was assuming that it was going to be all of Jace's friends which automatically meant a bunch of douchebag jockstraps. They were in for the quite the night, that was for sure.

Eva giggled softly and closed her eyes a moment, savoring it. She felt Jace's heartbeat against her side, and it calmed her. After taking a drink of his beer, he offered it to her.

Her first instinct was to refuse but... The hell with it. She winked and stared into his eyes as she took a drink and handed it back to him. Beer was gross, she decided. But surprisingly, she masked that thought well and had nothing but a smile on her lips.

Glancing up, Evangel noticed a familiar car with a familiar face pulling up. Atticus. Quickly, she slipped her phone out of her pocket and text him, telling him to wait a bit until he got out. There wasn't enough people, and she knew Jace would create a scene.

Jace was more than surprised when Eva actually took it from him and took a drink. He laughed a little and smiled, taking a sip after her.

"You hate it," He observed,"They have other stuff in the coolers. Like hard lemonade or something.. But if you're planning on driving.." He knew that she was smart enough to not drink and drive but he felt like as her boyfriend he had to put that warning out there.

~

Atticus pulled into the dirt and turned off his car, not wanting to waste gas on idle. He was about to get out when he heard his phone go off and he told the guys to wait just in case. He pulled his phone from his pocket and looked down at it, sighing when he saw it was Evangel telling him to hold off for a little bit. He told his friends and they all groaned, obviously ready to either party or witness something go down. He felt the same way but for his best friends sake, he simply texted her back and requested that she tell him when it was good to get out.

Eva laughed at his observation. "I do hate it, but I thought I'd try. We'll see. If I decide to stay, I'll grab more," she said softly.

She then nonchalantly glanced over at Atticus's car and noticed he hadn't gotten out. She assumed he saw her text, but she wasn't going to check again and risk Jace seeing. Speaking of, she needed to distract him so Atticus could come out.

"So are we gonna just sit here... Or is there something fun we could go do?" She whispered to him, looking at him hopefully with her big, mocha colored eyes.

Jace smiled and nodded,"Alright. I'll take that," He told her. It wasn't a flat out no which was good.

He took a longer drink from the can and looked in the direction of the bonfire which was growing in size by the minute. He looked down at Eva when he heard her whisper and he smirked a little bit when she asked if they could go do something.

"We could go for a walk," He suggested, moving some hair out of her face before letting his hand rest on her cheek for the time being. By walk, he didn't mean a walk. Well, sort of.. They would walk away from the group of people..

~

Atticus leaned back in his seat and crossed his arms, looking at the window at the few people who were hanging out by the far. He rolled his eyes, watching Eva all over Jace. He didn't know why he tortured himself like this. He knew that he could be a way better boyfriend but also knew that Eva would never think of him that way. It was just a shitty situation that he put himself in more times than that.

"Alright," Eva replied with a smile. She just needed to get Jace away from the bonfire so Atticus could actually have some fun. She slid off of his lap and stood, facing away from him.

She quickly text Atticus that as soon as he saw them leave, he could go out. And not to worry because she would be back and see him in a few, she was just getting Jace away until more people arrived and he would be more calm about it.

She accidentally dropped her keys and bent down to pick them up. Evangel then stood up and turned to Jace, an innocent smile on her lips, followed by a teasing smirk.

Jace smiled and watched Eva get up. He tilted his head back and took another long sip for his drink before sitting up straighter, about to get up and leave. But then he saw Eva bend over to get her keys and he was quickly distracted by that. He laughed and shook his head, watching her smile and smirk because she knew what she was doing. "You're bad," He told her, standing up from the chair. He put his arm around her shoulders and started to walk in the direction of the lake, which you could get through by taking a little trail that was off the beaten path.

~

Atticus looked down at his phone and sighed softly, then looked up to watch and wait for them to leave. He watched them walk off towards the woods and almost cringed at the thoughts of what they could be doing. He didn't even want to know.

"Alright boys. Show time," He told him as he pushed open the door to his car. He stepped out and headed up to the bonfire with them, looking for any familiar faces. Well, he knew them all from school so he supposed the better term would be familiar faces that didn't make his hand curl up into a fist.

Eva giggled and tugged on his shirt for them to leave. She realized that she was being extra flirty, but it was for the sake of her friend. And it was kind of fun to torture her boyfriend like that.

As they turned away she glanced back and saw Atticus and two of his friends exit his car. Good, she thought.

"Wouldn't that make you just as bad because you enjoyed it? Hey, where are we going?" She asked as he lead her into the woods. It wasn't exactly a trail either, and she was starting to get the idea that they weren't just going for a walk, oh well. She shrugged it off and leaned against his side.

Atticus and his friends smiled at a few familiar faces and smiled even more at the ones who glared at their presence. Good. He was there to reek havoc, as he was most places he went. They all grabbed a drink from the cooler and ended up going to a guy and a girl they all knew to talk. He really didn't care much for whatever they were talking about. He found himself glancing in the direction of where Eva and her boytoy had gone off to, wondering how long she was planning on distracting him. She was really the only reason he came.

~

Jace laughed a little bit and shrugged. "I suppose it does, but we already knew I was bad," He pointed out to her before taking another drink from his beer,"Technically, the lake is this way.. But we don't have to go there," He told her, his hand moving from her shoulder to the back pocket of her shorts.

Evangel turned to face him, looking up at him with a smile. "I'm up for whatever," she told him gently. She suddenly was very aware of his hand placement and a bit self conscious about her somewhat exposed body. A blush spread across her cheeks and she looked down at the ground.

She couldn't be gone too long anyways. And she guessed that Jace probably wanted to spend time with his friends too, so she'd make sure they head back soon.

She began wondering what Atticus would think about her attempt to drink beer and like it.

Jace smirked when Evangel said that she was up for whatever but furrowed his brows when she looked down at the ground, something she only did when she was nervous. He'd picked up on the little things like that being around her as much as he was. So, he moved his hand from her body to her waist and walked a little ways farther down the trail before stopping. He took another sip of his beer and turned towards Eva. He put his free hand on the side of her cheek and grinned when she looked up at him. He leaned down and kissed her, more than he usually would whenever he would kiss her in front of his friends or at school.

~

Atticus stood there, talking about some big concert Warped-tour like thing that was happening in town later on in the month but all he could think about was whatever Evangel could've been doing. He hated her with Jace. He hated it to no end. There was one incident when Evangel had called him when Jace had been drinking at a party and she'd been all upset and bent out of shape about something he'd done, but within a few minutes she told him to forget about it. Ever since then it just made things were even worse.

He sat his beer down on the ground in front of him and pulled a cigarette from the pack and offered them to the group before lighting up. He could feel himself getting all antsy again. This time because he was worried not because he felt like he was craving one.

Evangel smiled gently and kissed him back, her arms wrapping around his neck. This forced her to stand on the tip of her toes but she didn't mind. So far he was being gentle with her, and it was nice. Besides, Jace hadn't had that much to drink.

It was very h
ot and it was nearly dark out. She was suddenly very glad that she had worn what she did, otherwise she would've been burning up.

In the distance, kids were partying and laughing. Music was playing out if someone's speakers. She hoped Atticus was having some fun.

Jace kissed Evangel for at least a minute just like that before he pulled away and started to kiss down her cheek and neck, deciding to that the alone time to his advantage. He was always so busy with football that he felt like the only time they got together was when they were around a bunch of people and it really sucked. He wanted to be able to go out on dates more often but he honestly just couldn't find the time.

As he reached the bottom of her neck, he suck a little bit in the midst of the moment, leaving a hickey. It was nothing horrible but it'd probably be noticeable in a few hours.

~

Atticus excused himself from the group after a few more minutes of mindless conversation and he started to walk around the little party that was going on. He ran into a girl he knew from chemistry and she was quick to start conversation with her.

She was taller than most girls and thin, but he really liked the leather jacket she had on and he could tell she'd already had a good amount to drink even though things were just getting started. In a nutshell, she was his type of girl. Well, whom you would assume to be his type of girl. A girl he'd totally be all over if he wasn't so hung up on his best friend who was lost in the forest with the school's most sought after boy.

Evangel gasped softly as he began to kiss her neck. She frowned as she realized he left a mark. Oh well, her hair was long enough to cover it.

She reached up and ran her fingers through his hair, giving him short, teasing kisses and smiling in between both. Right now she could only focus on him. She could taste the alcohol on his breath. It was getting to be a bit more apparent than she'd hoped, but there wasn't anything she could do at the moment.

They would have to hear back soon. People were probably wondering where their football star was, and she promised Atticus...

Jace pulled away after a minute of that and looked at her with a smile. He leaned down and kissed her whenever she could kiss him back and wasn't teasing him. She was too cute to be mad at for it so he just went with it. He pulled away from her for a second to drown down the rest of his beer. He toss the can in a nearby bush before putting his hands on either side of her waist and starting to kiss her her again. His hands pushed her shirt up higher than it already was but he didn't do anything else.

~

Atticus went through three beers in the conversation between him and, he'd learned her name, Bianca. The name just made her sound like you didn't want to mess her and that was true. She was basically a female version of him but just a little bit more toned down. Atticus was getting impatient though, even with the intriguing conversation with the fake blonde, and was considering just leaving.

"Should we head back before people worry?" Evangel asked, pulling away to look up at him. She was enjoying being alone with her boyfriend, but he had a reputation to uphold. And then there was Atticus. She would feel terrible if he felt like she lied.

But she couldn't resist one more. Eva placed her hands on his muscular chest and kissed him long and slow, enjoying the moment while it lasted, unsure of whether he was ready to head back or not.

Jace couldn't help but pout a little bit when Evangel suggested heading back. He knew that people would start to talk and wonder, so it was probably best if they did so he nodded.

He grinned a little bit and leaned down, kissing her back for the long moment until she decided to pull away.

"Let's go," He agreed, intertwining his fingers with her's as they headed back up the trial the way that they had come from. He'd be completely happy leaving the bonfire and going somewhere else with Eva but he knew that it would be a let down to his friends if he did that. It'd be fun, anyways. There was probably more people up there now.

~

Atticus excused himself from the girl after a while of talking, but not without exchanging numbers first, then headed over to the cooler to grab another beer. You would think by five he'd be affected but he barely was due to his excessive hardcore liquor drinking on the weekends. It'd probably hit him later but right now, he was feeling good.

She enjoyed their little moment, but she knew that she'd probably end up staying and he'd get more chances throughout the night or in the morning.

As they emerged from the woods, Eva glanced around and immediately spotted Atticus. He was grabbing a beer from the cooler. She had to think quickly. She dropped his hand and walked forward a few steps. One to get a better view of things and two... It was just another opportunity to tease Jace.

"I think your friends need you over there, they're waving over by the bonfire," she observed, looking up at him.

Jace chuckled softly, watching as she dropped his hand and moved in front of him. He smiled and shook his head, stepping up to the level around around. He looked over in the direction of the fire and nodded slightly.

"I should probably go say hello," He agreed and reached for her hand, assuming that she was going to tag along like always.

~

Atticus looked up from the cooler and saw Eva standing over by the woods but with Jace standing behind her. He sighed to himself and turned back around, wondering who else he could go talk to other than his friends.

Evangel dropped his hand gently and smiled at him. "I'm going to go see if anyone I know is here," she explained sweetly so he wouldn't be suspicious. She kinda needed to branch away from him for a bit before later anyways.

With one more reassuring smile, Eva turned from Jace and meandered over to the cooler. She decided it might make him happy too see that she's staying by her taking a drink.

She found a hard lemonade and pulled it out. A few people cast her anxious glances at the alcohol in
her hands. Then she spotted Atticus.

Evangel bounced over to him as she opened the beverage and took a sip. This was significantly better than beer. Bleh.
"Hey! Told you I'd be back!" She announced cheerfully to him, hoping he'd be a bit excited at least.

Jace gave Eva a bit of a look but nodded. "Alright," He told her with a smile and he headed over to his friends. He wanted to talk to them anyways and he would be able to easily find her in a little while.

~

Atticus turned, hearing Eva's excited voice. "Hey," He responded with a bit of a smile but then he gave her the typical up-down and he raise his brows.

"And who are you?" He asked, snapping open his beer. He took a sip and looked at Eva as if he was almost disappointed. The Evangel he knew didn't wear short shorts with her stomach showing and she definitely didn't drink.

He shook his head and sighed, knowing he shouldn't let it bother him because at least she was talking to him. She was just.. Different now that she had a boyfriend. He supposed that she could stay innocent little Eva for ever. "Does he know I'm here?" He asked her curiously, looking around for her boyfriend who he felt like was going to pounce at any given moment.

Eva noted his look of disappointment and she set down the drink on a nearby log. Sighing, she untied her hair and let it fall loosely again. The way Atticus always liked it.

"Sorry, it's all a show for him. I'm just as uncomfortable about all this as you are," evangel clarified, gesturing to her outfit and beverage choice.

"And no, he doesn't. He's kind of suspicious that I just left like that though. You'll be fine. So how are you? Are you enjoying yourself?" She asked him, a gentle smile on her lips. Now she was thirsty, so she just confiscates his beer for a second and took a sip. She made an "eww" face, and turned her attention back to Atticus.
