STORY-
Prologue:
It is a sunny day. The birds are chirping, the bees are humming ... Suddenly, the sky darkens. The animals silence, and kids halt their games. Muted thunder purrs in the distance, growing louder with each passing millisecond, and the cold, sharp wind slaps the small town with surprising speed. Children outdoors are pulled inside as parents look up to see trees bending and rustling against the dark, threatening sky. The first flash of lightning sparks across the sky....
Present-time:
It's been raining for eight months now, ever since an instantaneous storm struck the little forest-surrounded settlement of Thorntown. Not an innocent soul knows why. As for the citizens who love crime, however, that is a completely different story.

SETTING:
Thorntown isn't a very large place, but that's not to say it's minuscule. It's surrounded by a forest of various trees. Thorntown is famous for their unique evergreens. Needleberry trees are tall conifers, with small berries on the lower branches. The berries are pale blue, and taste sweet and sugary. Needleberry sap is used to make periwinkle-colored syrup, a popular replacement for maple syrup. Few workers are daring enough to dash out to gather sap and berries from the Needleberry trees, going out when the storm lets up to a light sprinkling.
