This Can't Be Happening…(Saphire and Paint

He nodded, "I still have to tell your parents about this." Sean couldn't well let her go home without explaining anything. They had a right to know, and he was going to ensure they did. He turned into their driveway, parking the care carefully so he didn't run into the two kids who were running around. "Don't worry, I'm sure they'll understand, if they've raised a woman like you."

She blushed when he said that and smiled. She looked up at him. "That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me." She got out of the car and her two sisters ran up. "Kitty!" they shouted in unison. She laughed and hugged them both gingerly.

He smiled as the sisters talked, and said in all seriousness, "I can meet with your parents alone, if you want to talk to your sisters." She didn't need to be there, after all, now that it was all over. Or, at least now that it was beginning to change.

She nodded and said "My dad is probably inside." She smiled and hugged her sisters who said "Kitty let's play hide and seek!" she smiled and said "Alright! 1, 2, 3…"

Sean nodded and walked towards the door. A deep breath and his hand rose, pausing briefly. What should he say? A serious face or his normal one? Well... this was a serious problem... and the hand hit the door, knuckles rapping on the wood as his face turned solemn. It was time to meet the parents, he supposed.

Her father, Abraham, came up the the door, his face drawn in pain. He carried a cane and walked with a limp. "How may I help you?" he said, grimacing. He leaned on his came heavily.

"My name is Sean McDougal, and I'm your daughter's homeroom teacher. It came to my attention that she was being bullied." A small breath, inward and out, and he continued almost as though frightened to stop, "I have taken the liberty of bringing this to the attention of Ms. Dissonance, and we have decided that this man is to be expelled. Until we are certain he will leave your daughter, Katheryn, alone... I'd like to ask permission to escort her to and from school. I also recommend changing her email and getting a new phone."

He nodded. "I knew Kitty was going through that…but I've tried to go to the principal and just been waved away. I tried to help my Kitty, I really did. Anyway, it seems that you had more success then I did. LYou have my permission to drive my daughter and I will get her a new email and a new phone." he said through gritted teeth.

A look of worry crossed Sean's face, "Are you alright, sir? You seem to be in pain. Should I call an ambulance, or drive you to the hospital?" Something was wrong, he could almost taste it. One hand moved out to catch the man, should he fall down or something similar.

He staggered back and fell to the ground, his eyes rolling into the back of his head.

Kathryn heard the this and ran over. "No! Not again daddy, please!" She rushed to his side and cradled his head. "Daddy no…not again…" she sobbed. She looked up at Sean. "He is having a heart attack…call an ambulance, please!"

Sean flew into action, grabbing his cellphone and had his hand to it, even while he moved over to the side of her father, while it was still ringing he told her sternly, "CPR. Give him CPR, if you're certified. If not, you take the phone and I'll do it, but we have to start now. The longer his heart's not pumping the more likely he'll have brain damage." It was unspoken that her father might die, Sean hadn't even considered the possibility.

She nodded and began to perform CPR, tears rolling down her cheeks. She kept doing it but there was no change. She cried harder and kept trying again and again. Her little sisters ran over and saw what had happened. They screamed and cried, they were only four years old.

"Hello, 911? Right here, at this location, a man has had a heart-attack." A pause, nod, and he said, "Yes, we're performing CPR. I'm the daughter's homeroom teacher." Another pause, "I'm aware. No, just hurry. Of course I'll stay." The call was ended, and Sean went down with Katheryn, "Katheryn, do you want me to take over?"

She nodded tearfully and went over to comfort her sisters. She hugged them and said "It's ok…Daddy's gonna be just fine." "P-Promise?" Ivy said. Kathryn didn't answer and just hugged them.

Sean was continually doing the CPR, and not five minutes later the sound of an ambulance was heard rapidly approaching. "Katheryn, I want you to stand outside the house and wave for their attention. Once they get here explain exactly what's going on, but don't get in their way." He hadn't paused the entire time he'd been talking to her, "Take the twins with you."

She nodded and picked up her little sister and stood in the front. She put them down in the grass and kissed their heads. She saw the ambulance and waved them down. When they asked her what happened she said "My father was talking to my home room teacher when he suddenly staggered back and fell. For the past few days he has been complaining that he was aching all over and my father was in Afghanistan and received and injury to the heart and lung." she recited and them picked up her sisters and stayed out of the way.

The paramedics nodded, "One of you can join your father in the ambulance, the other two will have to be driven to the hospital. We'll try resuscitating him using this defibrillator." It was important that they try everything they could to save him before taking the father to the hospital... the sooner he was revived the better. Upon reaching the room they waved Sean away, he did scoot back with a calm nod.

"We need to begin immediately." The box was opened, defibrillator ready for use... and they began.

Kathryn nodded and said "One of you can go. Who wants to go with Daddy?" Ivy said "I do…" Kathryn nodded and picked up Katrina. "You wait here Ivy and do what they tell you ok?" She nodded.

It wasn't long before the paramedics moved her father into the Ambulance, letting the child come too, and Sean took a deep breath. "Katheryn, do you want to be there while your father is getting treated?" she had the right, and... it was frightening enough being alone while something like that was happening. Though... she might be more frightened inside the hospital, now that he thought about it.

She nodded. "Besides, I have to comfort my sisters." She held the crying Katrina and hugged her. "Katrina please calm down…they're gonna take care of Daddy…" She took out her phone and called her godparents, telling them to go to the hospital.

Sean nodded, knowing what he had to do now. Driving them to the hospital, giving them a place to stay if necessary... His cheeks turned slightly pink as he realized that his apartment still wasn't completely unpacked, but quickly shook his head to clear that kind of thinking from himself. Now wasn't the time. "Let me know when you're ready and we'll leave."

She nodded and said "Let's go." She held Katrina who was now reduced to sniffling. She sighed. What do I do now? I can't take care of my sisters, my godparents are extremely strict, they are too much for them by I guess they'll have to do it anyway. They'll need a week to figure out his to accommodate us and during that time where will we stay?

Sean took in a deep breath, and said, almost apologetically, "I... don't know what's going on, but you can... if you need a place, that is..." Now he looked mortified, hand rubbing his neck worriedly, not meeting her gaze, "I-I mean, it's not clean yet, b-but it's better than nothing...."

She smiled softly and hugged him gently. "Thank you." She kissed his cheek and flushed bright red. She whispered in his ear "He isn't going to live, I know it…we'll need a place to stay."

He nodded his head, "My door's always open." It was really the least he could do. He just hoped she'd be able to find a permanent place... he could become their guardian, he was sure, but... would her godparents, if she had any, want that? And would there be problems he didn't know how to solve? Sure, he could cook... but it wasn't that good.
