The meat was going to fight. It was clear to them that this would not be an easy meal. That was ok, they liked to play with their food.

4 large spiders descended from the treeline, surrounding the group. Each was easily larger than most men with the muscle to easily overpower one. The one closest to Toxin hissed and spat a green foul smelling ball of mucus a few meters ahead of it.

Toxin looked at the projectile before recognising it.

It was Steve's mace.

''...shit.'' he prepared for a fight or, if they were able, to run.

Talvin looked at the oncoming spiders and the chilled feeling in his gut was confirmed.

Well, it appears your tune won an audience. Though it appears they dont want an encore. Lesson learned.

He counted the opposition and did the math in his head. It was five verses four, but they were large nonetheless, and he didnt want to test luck if a broodmother was nearby too.

"One per man. Fight it out?" He asked as he drew his sword.

The spider, seeing Grace coming, prepared itself and...

The spider sidestepped Grace's attack and, when she landed, bit into her left leg, poisoning her in the process.

It then pushed her over and began to try and bite other areas on her body.

Toxin, seeing Grace's failed attack, ran over and...

The spider heard another coming but...

was too late. Toxin's sword sliced straight through the beast, it's blood spilling over Grace. It fell to the floor, dead.

The other spiders watched the display and flinched when they saw their brother die. They reared their heads up and began to scream at the group intimidatingly.

Toxin bent down to tend to Grace.

''You alright?''

Grace cried out when the spider bit her but luckily she held it off long enough for Toxin to finish it off.

Her leg hurt so she grabbed a vial and, turning to Toxin, said ''I need you to drain some blood so I know if I'm poisoned or not. Please do it quick!'' she said before lying down and preparing for the pain.

Eleniel wasnt surprised by the arrival of spiders. Theyve been living all over the place in Mirkwood. As part of Thranduil's guard, it was her job to kill them on sight. To push back this mysterious darkness that seems to be growing ever stronger. She was surprised, however, when one spider managed to get a hold of Grace's leg. Eleniel scowled, and in the blink of an eye drew her bow, arrow ready to be launched. But Toxin got to it first. Grace was probably poisoned. The forces of evil were a poison where ever they went. She watched Grace frantically give Toxin instructions to her medical treatment. Creatures of the dark had a very potent poison, full of hate and death. If Grace's methods fail, shes going to need elvish medicine. Elves almost specialized in these type of wounds. Their light and pureness could cast out the darkness in the spreading poison.

Eleniel was being distracted....she shook her head and looked back to the problem at hand, arrow still readied.

Toxin did not hesitate. He knew how poisonous worked and, if not treated, the devastating effects they could cause.

''Using Toxin to deal with poison...'' he muttered, a little amused at the idea.

He cut the leg open above the bite and let it drain into the vial before he handed it to Grace.

''Appologies for the following.'' he said before be put his mouth to the wound and began to suck the poison out, spitting whenever he drained some.

He continued until the leg was a little too white.

Better safe than sorry.

He ripped some of his cloth and bandaged the leg.

''You should be fine provided you don't get attacked or have to walk a long way like, for example, through a wood.'' he was unsure if she would make it, but he hoped she would.

A spider near Eleniel saw her raise her bow and jumped at her.

Moon drew his sword and turned his back to the group, so he wouldn't have to worry about being attacked from behind. He did a running jump at the nearest spider, leading with his sword....

Glimmer twirled her 'staff' and the spearhead came out. She threw it javelin style at the spider attacking Eleniel,

The spider attacking Eleniel, unable to dodge, was knocked out of the ait by Glimmers spear and fell to the ground, the spear in it's side.

It struggled to pull itself up and began to shuffle backwards towards the trees and safety.

The spider Moon struck at was cleft in twain by his blade, the bottom half of the spider remaining still whilst the top half of the spider flew off and onto a nearby bush. One of the last two spiders, seeing this, retreated to the tree line with it's wounded brother (such is the power of a 100 roll).

Grace let Toxin work on her wound and was pleasantly surprised to feel his lips on her leg ''I could get used to this.'' she thought.

She examined the vial and after her excessive loss of blood, passed out.

While aiming at the creature, another spider jumped at her from the side. The weight of the large beast knocked her off her feet and onto her back. She used her forearm to push the jaws of the spider away from her face, spit oozing and dripping onto her. Luckily, Glimmer caught the scene in time to throw her spear at the over powering spider, bringing it to its penetrating death. Its body collapsed, lifeless and heavy. Eleniel shifted and squirmed from under until she was free. She stood up and watched the remaining spiders scurry in fear. Eleniel panted,"If we dont hurry they may come back with more." she ran her slender fingers through the ends of her snow hair, untangling any parts that may have weaved together during the short battle. She lifted her bow from the ground and put the arrow back in its quiver before turning to Grace and Toxin,"Is she going to be alright?" her voice was serious and stern. The quicker they could leave, the better.

Glimmer retrieved her spear and wiped it on the grass, before returning it to its place. She glanced over at Grace lying on the ground, then straightened her cloak and hair. "Yeah, I agree with the snow queen. We should get going. Its a shame someone is already hurt. That will slow our progress quite a bit." She couldn't help but mention.

Moon wrinkled his nose at what happened to the spider. He should use a running jump more often, he supposed. Still, it was a shame those spiders weren't friendly. He gagged as he wiped of his sword. Nasty business. "Who should carry her?" He asked, motioning to Grace.

Toxin sheathed his sword and lifted Grace onto his shoulder.

''I'll carry her until she's better, unless she dies, in which case I'll probably put her down.'' Toxin's words were a little rush as he was still adjusting to Grace's weight.

''Right, as you were saying?'' he said, looking to Eleniel to show them the way through the woods.

((...wow now I feel bad for leaving you guys to do the fighting :P ))

Talvin withdrew his sword and rushed to help with Toxin adjusting Graces body. With all the commotion being stirred, he had a feeling some of the Mirkwood scouts would notice. The spider screams were louder than bells and a cathedral. He readjusted his helmet and the sounds were clearer now. The spiders were far, but he didnt know if he heard footsteps or just rustling in the trees.

"Now would be a god time to run!" He said quickly. "I'll be at point with Eleniel. Is there a river nearby that we can follow to the mountain lake?"

Eleniel cocked her head to Glimmer's words and her eyes narrowed,"Snow queen?" what was that supposed to mean. She groaned and ignored it. She looked back at Grace and Toxin,"If the wound gets infected, let me know. Toxin did some quick thinking on trying to draw the poison out, but theres no guarantee it all came out." Talvin spoke to Eleniel right after, inquiring if there was a river to use as a path. Her hand lifted to her chin,"Hmm..." her sapphire eyes moved back and forth as if scanning something on the ground,"Actually, there is." She gripped her bow, she might just need it after what happened,"Its quite a ways away, we should be there by nightfall, granted nothing holds us back," she glanced at Grace,"If we pace ourselves we'll make good time. But dont worry, we'll make stops if we must." She turned to the tree line where her an Talvin took watch,"Theres a river up head there,"she pointed with her bow,"but it crosses our path again later, so we wont be following it until then." She started walking, assuming the others would follow.

Glimmer shrugged. "Your hair.....Its a compliment, I think. Unless you take it another way." She pushed one side of her cloak off of her shoulder so she would be able to grab her wand faster, then started walking behind Eleniel.

Moon stayed still until he was in the back of the group then drew the dagger from his belt and followed.

"Point well made." Talvin quickly said. With that, he rushed on ahead forward, keeping his helmet focused on the hearing. If anything or anyone was coming his way, he'd hopefully hear it. For safety reasons, he put his sword back in its sheath. He was still wondering if a patrol heard all the noise.

Let's say you do encounter the Mirkwood elves, what would be a fair strategy? Other than hide you somewhere? Try and get them to help us out of the forest and keep an army of spiders from eating us. You're becoming a bit too optimistic. Look! We've got a hungry spider running off to bring the rest of his family for dinner! I'll take what options I have. Besides, if that selfish prick tries to steal Eleniel away, I'll decapitate him and nail his head to his own throne. I take it back. You're becoming too blinded by lust and a bit over-tempered. Survive now, lecture later!

Toxin followed the group, struggling occasionally with Grace's weight.

Leaving the path to the others, he concentrated on making sure they weren't being followed.

Still, he contemplated dragging Grace along the ground but realised that he'd probably be knocked out himself is she was to find out.

Eleniel led the group off the path and into the brush where she previously was. It was heavy with foliage, walking through shrubs, stepping over logs and rocks, stepping in fallen leaves and branches, some of the more prickly plants would even snag onto her clothing, but she didnt mind.

Some time passed and Eleniel noticed some mushrooms that had begun to grow and were scattered along the forest floor. Eleniel made a disgusted face,"Dont eat those...dont even go near them. Their spores will make you see things that arent there....as if the forest's dark magic wasnt bad enough..." she mumbled the last part. Even though the mushrooms were bad, they gave a good sign. Mushrooms like water and humidity, the river was close. And as they continued their trek her keen ears picked up the sounds of running water. "We're close." She announced to the others behind her.

Glimmer glared at the prickly plant that snagged her clothes. She didn't really mind, after all she could just fix them later. Right now though, it was the only thing she had to think about. She eyed the mushrooms they passed, curious just how close a person would have to be to be affected by their poison.

Moon dodged the mushrooms and plants, attempting to listen for noises other than their footsteps. A moment after Eleniel said something, he heard the sounds of the river. He skirted another mushroom, almost distracted by the wonderful sound of flowing water. Of course there was no telling if the water was safe or not, but they could solve that problem when they came to it.

For a moment, Talvin looked at the mushrooms. A kind of hallucinogenic mushroom with spores. Before walking off, an idea sprung into mind. While the group was moving, he took out a handkerchief and held his breath while covering his mouth and nose. Creeping closer to the mushroom, he threw the handkerchief over one of them and let it fall over it. Wrapping the edges around the stem of the mushroom, he broke it off, carefully wrapping the whole of the mushroom in the handkerchief.

He let out a breath as soon as he walked away from the mushrooms, in case spores would try to enter his system. He then stuffed the mushroom in one of his pockets and ran to join the group. "Hey, when in doubt, nature provides." Talvin said hastily as he walked by.

Toxin didn't hear Eleniel's warning due to Grace's hair having become tangled in his belt.

He looked up and saw the sun through a break in the tree line. It was just for a second before the tree snapped back into place, but it was enough to make him smile.

He continued behind the group, humming to himself now that he was mostly accustomed to Grace's weight on his shoulder.

''I'll assume that you're returning to Thranduil with these trespassers...'' the voice was soft, it's elvish perfectly spoken but recognisable.

Tauriel walked out of her hiding spot just a few meters from Eleniel and moved in to hug her.

As she wrapped her arms around Eleniel, Tauriel whispered.

''They are listening, please don't struggle.'' her face never winced when speaking, her smile staying in place as if nothing was amiss.

Talvin stopped dead in his tracks as Tauriel stepped out of the shadows. Not understanding a word, he couldnt tell if she meant ill will or not. He heard more breathes through his helmet. It was clear she didnt come alone. Though considering the dangers in the forest, no one should. Keeping an eye around the trees, he figured he'd let her and Eleniel bond for bit before asking if they were going to be prisoner or not. He kept his cloak around the hilt of his sword as before. Hopefully, Eleniels scouts werent with Tauriel and still thought him dead.

Glimmer stepped back a few paces when an elf came out of the underbrush. When she hugged Eleniel, Glimmer raised an eyebrow. If they were friends, this might take a little while.

Moon watched the new elf curiously, listening closely to what she said to Eleniel.
