Avenging Thread God
The tag is slightly off. This is for superheroes, of a sort. You'll see soon enough.

"You felt it, didn't you? The pull as you looked at our school. Yes? Good. We had hoped it would call to you. You see, what you felt was the effects of our local mage: Talisman. She has set up a variety of spells around our school for a variety of purposes. The one you felt was to detect and draw in any Endowed that were of age. You see, we aren't exactly a normal school... We are here to help guide those with powers. After all, we had to learn how to use ours the hard way. Think of it this as a cheat-code when it comes to learning how to use your powers. Welcome to Ispus Academy, home of the supers."

- Heat-Blast, Chemistry teacher at Ispus Academy

"Welcome, all. We here at Allagi Corporations extend our hearts to you and your sponsorship. With your help we have successfully made the first non-naturally gifted Endowed. Me and my colleges have offered this world a chance at change, a chance to enter into an age of wonders. Now we figured that today, the sixtieth anniversary of the beginning of the Psionic Flood, would be a perfect day to introduce our latest achievement. Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the very first man-made psion: ESP 11-A, or Espella as the lab boys call her."

- Thomas L. Penn, head researcher at Allagi Corporations

"If I wanted him alive I would have asked for him so. Now take him out of my office and kill him. Quickly, mind you. There is someone coming soon who I do not wish to know I am involved with these kinds of things. It would not end well for either of us. I'm sorry about all of that. Good help is hard to come by these days. Of course I am sure that I will be able to trust that you will be good help, correct?"

- Tamen Pyl, vice-president of Spiti Tou Ischys

"Who's this, Randal? Looks young. Feels strong. Hah! Look at that scowl! They're perfect. Welcome to the dark side, kiddo. We have cookies, but only if you can take them from me."

- Seer, 2nd lieutenant to Grip

It's been seventy years since the so called "Psionic Flood", or more commonly known as the "year the world went to hell" and abbreviated into "Day One". A lot has happened in those seventy years that needs to be understood by you, your neighbors, your town, your country, and the whole world in general. After all, the things that have happened to us all effect everyone, not just the USA.

Seventy years ago something changed. On that day a boy named Wisselaar Witt was born with psionic powers. He was what was later classified as an ESPer (users of Extra Sensory Perception). ESPers were not unheard of, but very uncommon. Most kept it hidden, afraid of the retribution they would meet for being a freak. However, this boy was raised in such a way that he never hid it. Witt was a medium level telekinetic, and the moment he was of age he joined the military.

Witt was quickly brought into a special division that went around the USA recruiting other ESPers. He went around the country giving speeches, holding conferences, and in general rallying to give ESPers equal treatment and raising awareness for them. Suddenly, people all over the country, and even on a worldwide scale, began revealing themselves to be ESPers. Mothers who never knew their sons were telepaths were being called out on their lies. Sisters who were unaware of their psychometric friends' powers found that locating lost items became easier. Terrors and miracles began to occur worldwide.

Fourteen years after Witt began the revolution that quickly became known as the "Psionic Flood" he was shot in the streets of Manchester, New York. The sniper was apprehended and revealed his intents: He and a group of other extremists had brought it upon themselves to clean up the "freaks". They claimed them to be unnatural and blights in the sight of God. The man ended the interrogation (which was filmed and released to the public) by spitting at the military officer that was questioning him, then laughing maniacally as he was dragged away.

It had been thirty four years since Witt was born, and 14 since he began his campaign. By this time there were individual factions of ESPers, but this caused all that to end. After the incident there were only two factions: You were either pro-human or pro-ESP. While the one faction wanted to continue to live peacefully, the other wanted war. They wanted to eliminate those who attacked them. The two factions warred politically for three years, but eventually it became more than just a political battle.

The war between the factions ended in one massive battle, where most of the world's ESPers gathered in the Sahara Desert. The two factions battled for three days, the psionic energy flying wildly.

That battle was ended by a nuclear missile at the height of the conflict. Most of the ESPers that were fighting were within the blast, and those that weren't quickly fled and went into hiding. It was clear to the rest of the world that the missile had to be launched. They could not risk the battle ending in with the victors being the pro-ESP faction, which was far larger and had the more powerful ESPers in it's ranks. after the battle, however, most the ESPers in the world went back into hiding.

But that wasn't the end of it all. The combination of psionic power and nuclear radiation changed a group of nomads in the area. Most of them died, but one woman in particular was strengthened by it. She had an extremely accelerated healing rate, her endurance was off the charts, and she could lift beyond the typical human limit. Her speed was increased to a level considered superhuman, and everything that humans excelled at she was able to do twice as well.

For about five years she was the only one, and she was considered of the world's new wonders. But after five years and 9 months another one appeared. They weren't nearly as strong as she was, nor were their powers even remotely like hers. But what they had over her was that they had the ability to create fire.

In the following years other supers began to appear. Their powers were diverse and unpredictable. Some had super strength, others had the power of flight. Once more the series of terrors and miracles began. Some ESPers came out with the supers to try and reinstate their status as the "good guys".

By now the world was more or less lost in all the chaos. But it was very well decided by some that it wasn't time to end the madness. Eight years after the supers began the mage bloodlines stepped out of the shadows. Historically nobles, witch doctors, prophets, and some great leaders these men and women were from lines that were capable of using magic. This being a rare ability, most had banded together in Europe under the guise of nobles and their servants. However, due to the ESP rights movement and the beginning of the supers the mages decided it was time to reveal themselves to the world. There was less commotion than the mages had expected when they came out, however. By now most of the world was expecting it or something even more radical.

About three years earlier an organization was formed by the United States government and a large group of powerful companies to research the supers and the ESPers. This group, known as Allagi Corporations, became the world's leading researchers in all things supernormal. They branched out into magic when the mages came out, and were finding themselves having so many offering to fund their research that they had to turn down some to eliminate the hassle.

Sixty years since the birth of Wisselaar Witt, Allagi Corporations held a conference with all the major leaders of countries and companies to reveal their latest findings. Chief among them was the discovery brought with ESP e11-a (Extra Sensory Perception experiment 11-a). She was revealed just two days after her tenth birthday. What ESP e11-a taught the world was that you could train someone to be a psionic. It was previously thought that to be a psion one must be born with it. This is not the truth, as was revealed. However, it was better to be born with it as it the process of training it was long and arduous, in addition to needing to be exposed to many illicit and often harmful chemicals.

There were other discoveries made on both the other types of supernormal occurrences. Through their diligent research, Allagi Corporations discovered that the mages DID have to be born with it. It seemed that there was a specific gene that would often be triggered around puberty that allowed the mages to interact with the Æther.

In relation to the supers there was a discovery that it was also genetic, but it had to be activated by an external power source. Allagi Corporations announced that as far as they could tell there was little or no shared ancestry between most of the supers, so the suspected it was a freak mutation. They also said that the power source was never the same, depending instead on the specific coding of the gene. For some it could be something as simple as getting hit with a taser, others it might be being hit by tank bullet or (as they quoted history) with a nuclear blast.

The world was excited by the thought that psions were no longer just born with it. Suddenly there was more freedom to who you could be, it seemed.

Allagi Corporations spent another year and half years trying to figure out how to create an ESPer, but found failure after failure. Suddenly all of Allagi Corporation's experiments were becoming massive failures, costing them more than they gained. Allagi Corporations quickly set out, using their contacts to silence the talk of non-natural ESPers. They told the public that nothing was working, but that wasn't the only reason: They had discovered that the process of making ESP e11-a what she was made her unstable.

The finding that what they had done did more damage than good lost them investors. Allagi Corporations was quickly slipping, and eventually filed for bankruptcy. Nineteen years after beginning, Allagi Corporations ended. All operations ceased, and the company name was removed from the books, being filed so that it could never be used again. Despite their failures, they discovered quite a lot and many wanted to recognize it.

It has been seven years since then. The city of New Farq prospers, but strange things are happening all over it. A census produced by the state of New York revealed that New Farq in fact has the largest amount of supernormal activity in the entire United States of America, seconded on a worldwide scale only by Moscow in Russia. Things are not quite what the mayor would like you to think here...

ISPUS ACADEMY:

Ispus Acadmy was founded almost 35 years ago, and was made originally to shelter those with powers while facilitating them in their growth. Now it has a much loftier goal: Ispus Academy is the largest gathering of supernormals worldwide, numbering a total of 553 Endowed, and most of them are teens. The academy is treated as a university, so the students have a lot of freedom. They are, however, required to follow a few basic rules and live in the dorms during the week days. The goal of the staff is to help train the children so that when they leave the school grounds they will be able to do good in the world. The training regimen for the children is rather simple:

First period takes place at 8:30 up until 9:30 and can be anything from their course selection.

Second and third are the same, taking place at 9:35 to 10:35 and 11:40 to 12:40.

After second and third period are over the students are given a 40 minute lunch break, ending at 1:20.

Fifth period is the time of the day that all students are required to be in a classroom, as it is their required power exploration class. This is the only school wide required class. Class begins and ends at 1:25 and 2:25.

Sixth period is like the others, going from 2:30 to 3:30.

Seventh period is for first years only, and is basic fighting class. This goes from 3:35 to 4:30. For second, third and fourth years this is time for working with their teams.

TEAMS

At second year the students are assigned to teams of four based on their powers and personalities. The main goal of the team is to strengthen each other while simultaneously keeping the troublesome students in check. The teams are also then assigned to go out into the city for the rest of the night until 9:00, although 10:00 is the suggested time to return. If the teams are not in by 1:00 am another team is sent to go retrieve them. The purpose of doing all this is to build up the team and to perform acts of heroism. The teams are rewarded for performing said acts and returning with proof. However, each year is only aloud to take on certain types of danger levels.

The second years are permitted smaller jobs, such as single person stick ups, muggings, and potentially dangerous situations (i.e. gas leaks)

Third years are allowed to take on groups of people and hostage situations, among other things like bank robberies and building fires or collapses (mid-collapse)

The fourth years are allowed to take on other Endowed, the most dangerous type of situation any student could be in. One of this city's main problems is the corrupt Endowed. They are also allowed to take on other high threat anomalies.

This is currently the recruitment for potential players. However, as long as I know you are willing I will PM you an update when I actually get the RP going. It might take a bit... I need to figure out how to format stuff to make it look right...

Thanks! It'll be good to have you!

I hope you all don't mind a slightly smaller group, though. I have trouble working with larger ones. I think I am probably going to cut it of at six people max. We'll see how many turn out.
