Fantasy The War

@Crysalisis I was always taught if life gave you lemons to shut your mouth, eat the bloody lemons and be thankful they weren't rocks.

Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons; what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Crysalisis lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down... with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!
Thats a quote from some guy I forgot. :P

@Ami the breadling >.> .... You wait. I am going to make amazing things happen in my kingdom, and you will be like, "Oh, Cosmo, I would love to make characters in your kingdom to RP with the Marshal or the Cripple," And I'ma be like, "Nope, sorry, too late."

You wouldn't deny your beloved Ami-chan. You adore me too much to hurt me.

@Ami the breadling >.> I will damn well try, also, the above, does your kingdom have black powder? Kinda assumed magic replaced it in this world.

@Cosmo People have magic, Liches and demons. I wouldnt be surprised if there wasnt gunpowder wasnt present.

No, no black powder, I would have mentioned that. I used a picture with canons hoping nobody would see them.

@Crysalisis Black powder would render every heavily armored soldier in everyone's army pointless and irrelevant especially if we are at the stage where ships are armed with numerous cannons.

@Cosmo I think magic already does that though... right?
Not really, a mages spells are not always piercing armor, it highly belongs to what spells there are. Given your character fights a soldier and a rifleman fights a similar one. Who has the easier fight?

@Crysalisis Nope. From what I have gathered from everyone's Kingdom CSes, magic is fairly rare, rare enough to make the users in the military fairly... elite, and even then, their control over it isn't amazing. Not everyone is a Bellatrix who can raise armies or do massive displays of power.

The reason guns are so brutal is their ease of use. You can spend a few months training someone to be damned good with a musket. It takes years of intense training to teach someone magic, and they have to have the talent for it.

@xEmoBunnehx They aren't. :D The only one who looked like they had them was Ami, but she just said they have no cannons.

Also I am kinda waiting on your post, just so you know. No hurry, just saying I do.

[QUOTE="Ami the breadling]All my fault. I start destroying everything again... I knew it... :(

No no no! Canons are fine darlin'. I was just absent minded and didn't notice them until they were pointed out.

I didn't even want canons, but finding a nice boat without is reaaaally hard.

[QUOTE="Ami the breadling]I think I will go to sleep. Good night everyone. Please don't go too far without me.

You're not going to be going too far without a ship anyways. Muhahahahhahaha...

@Crysalisis That isn't really the point. Knight > Musketeer when they first came out. Guns weren't able to penetrate the plate armor of knights, and so, didn't utterly change the battlefield which is why knights remained after blackpowder arrived for sometime.

However, the point is it takes a lot of time, money and resources to train a mage.

It takes a few months to train a cannon crew or a line of gunmen, and in comparison to outfitting and training a mage, the cost of a line of gunmen is remarkable cheap. This is why the pike and shot formations replaced knights, they were simply too expensive to be as much use.

So, while mages would, no doubt, continune to exist if cannons and muskets were around, all those heavily armored foot soldiers? Worthless. And before you say Magic > Guns, understand that not all of us are playing mages. Two of my characters are heavily armored warriors.

So, yes, it being pre-gunpowder is nice and it would have a massive impact on a world, magic or no magic.
