“Together we is a fart, apart we is a butt.”
As the battle raged, Cassie and Henry found themselves at the edge.
"Cassie, stay behind me," Henry said, worried. "This is no ordinary ecosystem. The rules here are… alien."
Cassie rolled her eyes, clutching her satchel. "You worry too much, Henry. If we’re going to survive here, we need to understand this place, not cower from it." She stepped forward.
Henry reached to hold her back. "Understanding doesn’t mean recklessness,” Henry retorted, reaching out to pull her back. "Do you even know what kind of energy that is? It could destabilize the Void—or us."
Cassie's gaze fixed on the beast. "Henry, look - the Void is alive, reacting. A symptom, not just a monster."
Henry's scientific curiosity stirred. "You think the Void might be alive?" He shook his head. "No time. We need to district it… Cassie, do you still have that flare we found earlier?"
Cassie grinned, pulling it from her bag. "Thought you’d never ask." She hurled the makeshift flare into the distance.
