Hmph .. midterms. I hadn't even realized those were going on. For me college was 20 years ago. And even then I never crammed for midterms or finals. You know those guys you hate that never had to study ... and would go out and party the night before a final? That would be me. Revolting .. huh. Oh ... here's some salt for those wounds...

Hey .. I managed to get Matthew and Dark Knight to fight. I had had it mind that they get off to a shaky start.

BTW since this scene seems to be kinda important, first intro of the vigilante code group, I think it's better to wait for the others

Some facts that I should describe that just didn't fit well into my posts with the time I had available - or just overlooked.


1. Dark Knight's body armor is of a similar design to Olympus, but lighter (no mag aligned layer), however he does used a cape. The Cape is a fire retardant ballistic cloth such as used by bomb disposal techs - damned heavy stuff. His eyes are covered with a custom made built in bug eyed UVEX goggle that allows wide field of vision - as opposed to a simple hole.


2. Dark Knight is clearly pushing buttons, to discourage everyone. The team's Mentalist should be able to tell that he is probing the team's cohesiveness and maturity. He is studying everyone and made his initial assessment in less than a second. He is also unafraid of the threat the team might offer him.


Matthew is more than a little sullen. In some ways his behavior IS adolescent. And he clearly doesn't take that kind of criticism well. And he also doesn't really like the name Batman. He thinks it is silly - even if he is a big fan.
 
Lol. Yeah, the rp would die if everyone just quit and went home :P


Don't worry, Edwin's not a quitter^^ He's kinda pissed at DK at the moment--especially about the comic book comments...


I sense lots of char improvement as the rp progresses(Especially regarding Edwin and his fighting capabilities. I can totally see him asking Erica/Jenifer to train him.)

I might be able to post today, but I'm working on studying for my last midterm. Tomorrow, I'll be on the road all day so if I don't get a post up today my next post will go up for certain on Saturday.

Added James Stevens to the NPC list. (He even has a superhero outfit - even though he doesn't go out to do the vigilante thing.)
 
I feel like Jennifer and Erica should switch roles...I mean WOW...her deductive skills...are beyond my comprehension...

I thought it was all obvious stuff. If you read back, DK says and does things that clue you in. It has only been about 20 hours since time of death. In that time he managed to gather all that information? Alone? Plus he knows what Internal Affairs is up to. He has to have access to the investigation - intimate access. That narrows the list to the CSI team or the Detectives assigned to the case - or someone closely involved with them.


Add in that he is male, athletic enough to jump to the top of a container and pull himself up after taking a beating from Matthew and tossing a Flash Bang. Add some tech gadgets that she recognizes the design of - custom designs - very similar to what she, Sean, and her husband all wear. Add in the fact that the guy can slip physical evidence into an investigation. It narrows the list down a LOT.


LOL ... actually her husband James is much worse. When I RP'd him I pissed people off. Thing of it was that to him, the conclusions were obvious. That was a Marvel X Men setting. The person he drew a conclusion about was from the Moon - an Inhuman. Now he only guess she was from the Moon. But he had lots of clues. And his guess was colored by the fact that his Dad was a NASA engineer. The girl was tall, thin, wore a respirator to breathe, had trouble walking in Terran gravity, was cool to the touch ... and introduced herself as Luna.


The other player whined that noone in their right mind would draw a conclusion that strange. Then I pointed out that Thor ... THE Thor .. Norse God of Thunder ... had just arrived in front of them in a lightning bolt. And a being from the Moon was supposed to be beyond belief?


 
Oh .. and I do plan to strip masks soon ... although the decision has to be yours. Basically a meeting that requires no costumes or visible weapons (concealed will be fine).

I meant story-wise, Jennifer seems more like a Mentalist than Erica with the way she's writing, making deductions and whatnot.


Edwin's probably fine with stripping masks, if everyone else is doing it...
 
Yeah, writing a Mentalist character is harder than I anticipated when you're not controlling the NPCs or writing them. I'm thinking it might be easier to make Erica the martial artist instead.
 
Yeah .... Sharlene had been looking at the Mentalist originally ... lol ... but she would have sone a very different type of character.


If you DO want to alter your character;s background, I'll need to know the family background. Part of Dark Knight's research on the group was based on families. Sean's family, for example. has a criminal past. Big red flag. Erica's family - guilty or not - was almost certainly looked at.


I do add in certain knowledge skills to the martial artist - such as style recognition. LOL, Erica may love an NPC sharlene may run for me. Was originally a character she ran for Project Atlas. Now that one is a bit of a martial artist ... but intended as an NPC here. Not really a vigilante mentality.


 
Folks, I paused where I did in the RP to give the group the decision whether to abide by Random Stranger's demands if Dark Knight wants to meet. RS will either meet him alone or everyone - not only part of the group. All or nothing. Yes, concealed weapons are fine. The concern about weapons was visibility .. ie telling the whole world something weird is going on where they are meeting.
 
Well if Sharlene wants to do a Mentalist character too, since I don't think we're going to get a 5th person, I don't have any problem with her making one if she one wants to.


I think I will change Erica to martial arts background, if that works for you Mitheral, but leave the family history roughly intact. She'd still have joined the National Guard and deployed, etc, but she just wouldn't have been a part of the military police.


I'll be getting a post up later this afternoon. Does the group has any recording equipment with them? I'm just thinking it might be easier to put some recording equipment on the Dark Knight or have him pass information back and forth, instead of possibly exposing themselves even more.
 
No, she and I share my laptop. I originally didn't plan to run one of the group at all. But the Strong Man is typically seen as a dull character to run. I, however, don't see a character as their powers.


The CS change sounds good.


And ... no the recording idea will NOT work. Random Stranger will NOT allow any recordings.

On other thing I've been curious about for the purposes of costumes, are we assuming domino masks don't conceal the identity of the wearer? I know in real life they don't really, but I was wondering if we're able to suspend some reality when it comes to that.
 
Whew Posted! Good thing I did to. I've got a Hematology exam to study for...which means I'll be studying the rest of Sunday...and Monday....


Should have never taken that course as an elective >.<


I feel like a fish out the water in the class...

Fortunately Edwin was wearing a full white face mask...he's not Tuxedo mask =P

@Mitheral I added a bit to the abilities section of Edwin's cs...not a lot, just emphasizing his acting abilities. Tell me if there's something u don't like.

Guess now you'll be able to tell just how much I fake it with Hematology. (Never took a Bio course in my life. Made it all the way through college like that. Well, Biochem, but that was as close as I got to anything being alive in my lab.)


 
Hmm ... up to you guys how much we suspend reality. Personally I think at least SOME effort should be made to make AFIS unable to ID someone.

Lol, no worries. I don't really care so long as it's somewhat realistic. I'm not against sci-fi or anything =P


Besides...I'm doing ok in the class...all the different factors: 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, fibrinolysis, thrombophilia, not to mentioned all the different pathways she expects us to memorize, ARRRGH! Sorry for the rant. Studying's making me tired...and she's really hard about understanding the case studies as well :(
