In fact, Briar is one of the most popular girls at her school purely because she's friendly with everyone. Of course she has her own tight knit group of friends, but her dad raised her to be kind to everyone and that's what she's always done. Ever since getting her powers though, Briar has been a bit more on edge and less carefree than usual, which some people have realized and distanced themselves from her for.   As a child, Briar was brought up by a loving father and a mother who always kept a distance. She suffered from terrible postpartum depression and never fully came back from it, leaving a strained relationship between her and her daughter. Briar's dad always came to the rescue though when Melanie was being too hard on their daughter, sticking up for the child in any way he could. Eventually, Briar's mother left in the middle of the night with nothing more than a note saying how she'd always love Mark, Briar's father.
  
  So, it was just Briar and her dad which made the two close to inseparable. Mark was his daughter's number one fan at everything she did, from swim meets to dance competitions, Briar was and always would be a star in his eyes. The two have annual vacations and trips that they take as a duo, never tiring of each other.   Once high school came around, Briar had to drop out of some of her hobbies and sports due to the pressure to succeed as well as her anxiety getting worse. She did audition for the dance team though and quickly became the shining star. As such Briar found herself quickly climbing the ranks of the student body and eventually getting invited to parties and out of school activities. She loved the new social circles and friends she had though, which is how she met her boyfriend, Max Wallows.
  
  An athlete quickly caught Briar's eyes at a party one night. He was in a smoke circle and while Briar had never tried weed before, she wanted to be noticed. So, she smoked with the guys, getting to know them all but ending up only in one of their beds at the end of the night.   Briar was completely and totally enamored with the athlete and could see the two in it for the long haul, however that all changed after she got into a car accident with a group of acquaintances from school. It was a normal day at the athlete's house when the two began fighting about something stupid, he left his room and Briar went out onto his balcony, tapping her acrylics against a potted plant. Immediately it began to grow, flowers blooming along it and Briar knew something was off. The more she learned about her newfound magic though, the more she was able to control it.
  
  Since the they discovered what was going on, Briar has broken up with her boyfriend out of fear of hurting him or putting him in the line of fire. If she could do the same with her dad, Briar would in a heartbeat.
