Futuristic The Titan

Zaera followed after the captain silently to his quarters. As they walked in she glanced around quickly. She's been in here once or twice before. Usually because she wanted make sure Ezro didn't choke on his puke in his sleep after particularly heavy drinking. It looked pretty much the same as before, a bit messy but an organized mess. She took a seat and crossed her legs. Out of habit she began to tap her nails across her thighs as she listened.

She was silent a moment or two after he spoke, her lips pursed in thought. "While I'm beyond flattered I must ask, you truly believe I'm first mate material? Why not promote Liana instead?" she wondered to him. It's not like she wasn't tempted by the offer, it was very appealing no doubt, but she just wasn't sure that she was the right fit for the job. Zaera valued Ezro's opinion of her, so it meant something that he thought so highly of her.

"A compelling offer indeed, but I'll have to take some time to think it over. Dinner it is, I'll have a definite answer by then," she said, her tone as a matter of fact. Deciding that the air was a bit too . . . serious between them she wanted to lighten up the mood. Smirking she said, "No need to be so stiff captain. I'm not going to bite your head off."
[ Siren77 Siren77 ]

Ezro finally could breathe easy, with the matter off his chest. Rubbing the back of his head he chuckled. "Indeed I do, as Ive seen you make split second decisions. Ive seen you keep your head in the most stressful of times, nit to mention you care for everyone like they were your own blood. All qualities of a first mate Id want, not to mention desirabke qualities in general." Shaking his head, Ezro frowned "Ive considered her but I cant. That girl is too irresponsible for this kind of position, not to mention she still has a chance to find a better life than this. I dont want somone so young to regret a decision they made because they felt pressured into it. Plus I dont want her put in any unecessary danger more than what she has now. I don't want another life lost on my conscience."

Taking her chance to lighten the mood, Ezro gave her a confident smile. "Oh but Ive always been told that its the most beautiful things that are the most deadly." There was some teasing in his voice, but also a very subtle hint of sincerity. It seems all of Lockes' "lessons" were paying off. "I look forward to this evening with you." The young captain said with a pleasant smile.

"I see what you mean," she says thinking back to the lavender haired girl. As competent as Liana was with her position the girl was still quite young and was still learning. She still had many mistakes to make and learn from them. "But you shouldn't worry so much about losing anybody. Under your watch she, and everyone else on this ship, will be just fine," she reassured, her tone gentle. Zaera knew that Ezro often thought about this type of stuff, she made it her personal job to ease his mind whenever she could. He deserves that much at least.

Zaera was slightly taken aback with his response, it was a pleasant surprise. Usually she was the one teasing. "Keep talking like that captain and I just might have to bite," she said and shot a quick wink his way. "As do I . . . it'll be an interesting one," she said matching his smile, more to herself than to Ezro.

Standing from her seat she tilted her head as she looked at him, while quickly flicking her hair out of her face in the process. "Is that all Strider or is there anything more you'd like to discuss?" she wondered.
[ Siren77 Siren77 ]

Ezro couldn't help but laugh at her statement. "I dunno, Ive gotten us all into some pretty shitty situations. The again I always find a way out of it dont I?" Her soothing tone was perfect, to the point that Ezro felt himself completely relax. "Its just the last thing I could ever want is for anyone of my crew to be harmed because of something foolish I did or allowed to happen. I've already let my own brother down, I won't do the same with anyone else." It was strange really, for most of his life Ezro found it difficult to discuss his brother with others. But Zaera was almost like a psychiatrist him, in that he wasle to speak his mind clearly. "Sorry." He said with a sheepish smile, "you're probabaly tired of hearing the same thungs from me over and over again.

Zaera's reply brought a playful grin to his face, "Just don't be too rough with me, and I won't have any problems with it." The wink about made him fluster but he managed to keep himself together, "Im glad you feel the same way, as opposed to being irked by the idea." Ezro stood up as well and stretched his arms out before shaking his head. "Nope, that's all there was. Oh! Any requests for the meal tonight?"

"What happened with your brother wasn't your fault. You had no control of the situation," she said shaking her head. Zaera found that whenever they had conversations like this the two seemed to get closer, which she was a very big fan of. She liked that she could talk so freely with each other. Zaera herself found it quite difficult to open up to people but with Ezro it was different and refreshing. "Also, you should know that I don't mind talking about these things with you, so don't you dare think about getting all shy on me now," she teased with an accusing finger point in his direction.

With a nonchalant shrug and smirk she said, "I can't make any promises." Zaera let a small laugh leave her mouth. Looking up in thought, she tapped her foot rhythmically. "Hm, surprise me, but nothing that is still moving," she said, feeling a chill go up her spine as she remember the last time Isek served them something that was still writhing (in pain she believes). While it did taste good it was just an interesting experience that she would much rather not happen again.

"I know it wasn't, but the least I could've done was avenge him. Put a bullet between that bastards eyes and make him pay for what happened." Shaking his head, Ezro looked out the window with a frown, "Ill see him again, I know I will. And when that time comes, he'll be sorry." An empty threat at best, in all the years he's spent with his crew they've never even come close to encountering the generals ship. So for the time being he could only hope. Ezro snapped out of it and brough himself back to the more positive side. He chuckledshrugged his shoulders, "Im just making sure Im not boring you is all."

Ezro laughed the word, "kinky." Before getting contorl of himself, realizing that he could very well be making Zaera uncomfortable. "Right, a surprise it is. I promise, nothing in their will be moving. Maybe." Ezro himself found his stomach churning at the though of his food wiggling around in his mouth. Unlike Zaera, he'd not been paying attention and ended up plopping the poor thing in his mouth. By the time he noticed the wiggling, we was already biting halfway into it.

afd2632f8954445606debbdfb02805ad.pngLiana stood up after a while and put the Data Pod back in her pocket. Were they almost ready to land? She was about to go on to deck but stopped herself. "Shoot that stupid bot is in there." How was she suppose show them she wasn't a kid if she couldn't even manage to be around a stupid bot. But it wasn't just her that thought the bot was crazy so maybe it was ok for her to scared of it. "I'll go to the gym until we land. While she was on her way to the gym she thought she heard voices. "Hmm?" She looked and noticed she was outside the Ezro's room. She put her ear to the door and listened. Had asked her yet. What was the big deal why couldn't he just ask her on deck. Ugh she felt like she was always left out of the loop. It was hard to hear she was sure she missed the him asking her to be first mate. She thought she heard a hints of flirting which Liana again felt slightly annoyed about but what caught her attention was when he mentioned something about his brother? "The Captain has a brother?" She covered her mouth when she realized she said it out loud. Shoot...well she didn't say it loud...right? Well just incase she thought it would better to leave and not get caught listening in. She slowly backed away from the door and in the process almost fell backwards but she caught herself before she did and quickly ran into the gym. Once she was in the gym she sighed and set her Data Pod on a table and turned on some music. Then she turned on ther intercom and spoke to Lockes. "Hey Lockes how much longer before we land?" While the music played and she waited for a reponse Liana walked over to the gymnastic equipment they had and started practicing her tricks on it. "Lockes you there? That Marin8 still there?"

Exmples of tricks she's doing and I guess you could say this is the music she is playing too.

"I've told you this before and I'll say it again: your fixation with killing this man is not healthy," Zaera said sighing. "You know, you're far too stubborn for your own good," she said a hint of a smile on her face. It did worry her how he was still being held back in the past by this man. She understood why but they both knew that he would have to let go eventually. "You're never boring," she said in a 'duh' tone, as if it was something everybody knew. "So don't go around and get the idea that you're boring me."

Zaera bit the inside of her cheek, trying to keep herself from laughing at his choice of words. Instead she opted out for smiling at Ezro instead. "Well until then my captain," she said as she walked out of the room, her voice sweet. She lingered in the doorway a moment before ultimately leaving.

As she entered the corridor Zaera noticed a head of purple hair out of the corner of her eye. Liana. She let a low huff out of her mouth and decided to follow the small girl. She kept a far enough distance from the girl, not having to walk very fast compared to Liana's running, due to her long legs of course.

Her lips pursed as she noticed the girl go into the gym. She stood at the door and peered inside as Liana began practising some tricks. She had a content look on her face and watched in silence. Before It could go on longer Zaera decided to finally speak up. "That's amazing Liana!" she complimented, walking forward toward the girl.

She ran a hand through her hair, a soft hum coming from her throat. Zaera thought that it was only fair that she told the young girl about the captain's offer. She may be a really good liar and could lie to nearly anyone but she cares about Liana and thought it'd only be fair if she knew.

"Hey, we should talk about something. The captain offered me the position of first mate," she said gently. Zaera wanted to keep the situation from escalating into something bad, which by her calculation could happen depending on how Liana took it.

afd2632f8954445606debbdfb02805ad.png"That's amazing Liana!"

"Huh? Whoa!" Liana almost lost her balance when she heard a voice. She had been so caught up she didn't realize someone was watching her. She needed to work on that. She turned around her hands still holding on to the bar. It was Zaera...crap did she know she was listening at the door? "Oh hi and thanks!" She smiled at Zaera but it was a little bit of a nervous smile.

"Hey, we should talk about something. The captain offered me the position of first mate,"

Liana smiled disappeared and she looked to the side. "Yeah I know he and Lockes mentioned they were going to ask you." She dropped from the bar and walked over to her phone and turned off the music. She then took a towel and patted her face down. "Did you take it?" Liana asked glancing back. "I mean your perfect for the spot." Liana maybe wouldn't have cared to much about not getting the spot but she felt like she was being treated like a kid and getting that spot would said a lot but......well guess she should be use to it by now. Even at the circus they straight out told her she couldn't have any big spots because of the way she looked. Even though she could do those tricks better then other girls. There might of been something else that irked her though she wasn't sure exactly what it was. All she knew was that her stomach would knot up.

"Everybody, take a look outside, there you have it-Megelidova Space Station."

said Lockes to everyone, as outside was seen the Space Station of which resembled a huge question mark, the docks were located in the middle sphere that was a part of the hook like question mark.

Zaera felt relieved that Liana at least knew about it, but the girl's actions really didn't help to ease the tension that was building up between them. This was one of the things she was afraid of. Being the observant and calculated person she was Zaera knew how to read people well, and with Liana she didn't have to since the girl was fairly expressive at the moment. "Well, Strider gave me time to think it over," she said. "I'm still not quite unsure if I'm being honest, but I promised him an answer by the time dinner rolls around so I'll be sure to come to a decision by then."

She looked down at the girl, suddenly reminded how she towered over her (especially in the heels she's wearing now), quite literally. It was almost comical to see how different the two were. Despite Liana's height and childlike stature Zaera made sure not to underestimate the girl. She knows from experience that the most powerful people are the ones you least expect.

"Liana I-" her words seemed to have gotten caught in her throat as Lockes' voice spoke to them. Instead of finishing she simply smiled and nodded her head to the door. "'Shall we?" she offered.

“I don’t care, the bastard has it coming to him. But I suppose you’re right, I can’t let this fester inside of me forever. It’s just hard yknow?” Ezro rolled his eyes with a smirk, “I’m stubborn but you know damn well I’m never gonna change that about myself. It’s just who I am.” Shrugging his shoulders, Ezro smiled slightly at her. “Well you never know, my life is just another sob story to be heard in the galaxy. It’s nothing interesting.”

Nodding his head, Ezro returned the smile. A strange case of emotion in his eyes, joy was spelled all over his face. “Until then, Zaera.”

As she left, Ezro sat back down at his desk and looked over his charts. With where they were now it’d be a good idea to stop at the planet Genisis. There’s been rumors of weapon, gem, and resource caches left behind by the ITF from an old base. If all went well there they could also explore and see what they might find. Perhaps if Zaera were to accept the position he’d talk over the plans with her later. For now he spread out the charter and sent the plans to Locke’s with information on his plan.

As Lockes voice rang out about the ship, Ezro quickly rose from his seat and left the room. Finding his way down to the armory, he quickly found his Pallidium pistols and slung them at his sides in their holsters. Next he got ahold of his dual bladed pulse saber, and strapped it across his back. Finally, there were some toxin grenades as well as a gas mask that he clipped onto his belt. He was ready for the mission, all that was left to meet the others on deck. Heading back to the lift, the young captain took it all the way back up to the deck. It looked like he was one of the first ones to make it. “Get us stationed Lockes, nice and easy. Make sure you have your weapons ready. I want to set out on our bounty as soon as possible.”

afd2632f8954445606debbdfb02805ad.pngLiana was bit surprised when Zaera said she said she hadn't given him an answer. She assumed Zaera took the position and that was why she came to talk to her. She watched as Zaera walked over to her. Man she was tall especially in heels. Liana would be lying if she said she wasn't bit jealous of her sometimes. Mostly cause of her looks. Liana stifled a laugh when she realized just how much of a height difference it was with them standing next to each other. Liana looked up as Zaera was about to speak but she got cut off by Lockes. Zaera then instead of finishing gestured to the door. "Yeah coming!" She was about to head out but stopped. "Oh no I'm not loosing my Data Pod again. Not going have him fuss at me again." She ran back over picked up her pod and put in her pocket then followed Zaera out of the gym. "Hey Zaera I won't be mad if you take the position you are more mature and doesn't loose things. If you want it then you should take it. I'm fine where I am....though I would like to be included more in the missions. I got skills Captain could use....he was impressed enough to let me join....well anyway Zaera what were you about to say earlier before you were interrupted by Lockes?"
rattyray rattyray

Zaera sent a small laugh Liana's way as she turned back to get her Data Pod. She always left that thing in the weirdest places. Zaera remembers once finding it in one of the cabinets in her office. How it got there, neither of them knows (or at least Liana knows and just didn't want to tell her).

"Hm, we'll see," she said trailing off toward the end. Zaera didn't know if she wanted the position or not. It was very conflicting to say the least. Maybe she'll hopefully have her mind cleared during this supplies run. "Oh, don't worry about that, it was nothing important," she waved the girl off. "You should bring that up with him then, the thing about wanting to go on missions more I mean. I'm sure the captain would have no problem with it. You're a tough girl, you can more than handle yourself and he knows that."

The two walked beside each other as they headed down the corridor, Zaera making sure to walk a bit slower than usual because, again, she has much longer legs than Liana and wouldn't want the girl to run to keep up with her. As they got onto the lift she played with the necklace she constantly wore, something she did when deep in thought. Her eyebrows furrowed together, showing how concentrated she was. Though she soon left the depths of her mind as the lift slowed to a stop and opened up to the deck. She immediately saw the captain and then quickly looked down at Liana. She nudged the girl slightly and pointed toward him, giving her an encouraging smile. Bring it up, she mouthed silently. Now was a better time than ever to do it.

afd2632f8954445606debbdfb02805ad.pngWhen Zaera mentioned she should ask the Captain about being on more missions. Liana nodded, yeah guess she should just tell him. When they got on the lift she noticed her playing with her necklace....what was she thinking about? When they made it to the deck she felt a nudge from Zaera. She looked up and watched as she mouthed silently for her to bring it up to him. Liana gave her a slightly panic look. They kind of left off not on the best of notes. She wasn't sure if now was a good idea but she guess it wouldn't hurt. She walked up to Ezro and she placed her hands behind her back. "Um Captain....um I've been thinking and I...I want to be included in more of the missions." She confidently. "Maybe I could help you and Lockes with what your were talking about earlier?"

Ezro was quite surprised that Liana wasn’t talking to him again, after she had stormed off looking quite upset. He just hoped she wouldn’t still be mad at him over the whole situation. As she told him her wish, he scratched his chin for a moment thinking it all over. She could be useful, and in a way she could prove herself not that she needed to. Ezro already had his full faith and trust in her, but he knew she felt like she needed to. Nodding his head, he smirked at her. “Sure thing, you can come along with me and Lockes. Just promise me you’ll follow orders and won’t do anything stupid while we’re out. This bounty is very crucial for us and could help us out a ton. Sound fair?” Ezro took a glance at Zaera, and gave her a small wink indicating he knew full well it was her that inspired Liana to ask him.

"...No way, i'm against it, Liana, we're going up against slave traders here, you hear me? there are going to be things that you are not going to like, a lot of it will be...gruesome, i don't want you to go, i want you to stay here with the rest of the crew whilst me and the captain handle things ourselves with this bounty, okay?" said Lockes, speaking like a parental figure, as he then lifted up his giant cannon firearm, had placed it around his back and proceeding to move on ahead, waiting for the captain to follow, since the ship was already in auto pilot, it was programmed to dock at the sphere under the hook like question mark when ready, Lockes lastly says to captain Ezro:

"...Let's go, captain..."

said Lockes with a serious expression on his face before leaving through the decontamination chambers, right towards through the exit of the Titan itself.

“Hang on one damn second here.” Ezro said with a grunt. “Lockes get your ass back over here. I do believe it’s no you who makes the final decision on this matter, it’s me.” His arms folded and a look a slight irritation was plastered on his face. It wasn’t over a challenge of authority, but over the fact that Lockes was actually treating her like a kid still. “Lockes, listen to me. I know you care for the girl just as much as I do, maybe ever more. But you can’t just go on treating her like a kid like this. Think about it, we aren’t letting her be the first mate because of her young age and lack of experience. That being said how can we ever give her a chance to get experience if all we do is baby her and keep her out of the dangerous stuff? Yes this mission is going to be deadly, and there are some terrible terrible things to be seen. But she’s under our protection, and I know you and I both won’t let anything bad happen to her.” Ezro knew Lockes was trying to act in the right, but he needed to draw a line. Knowing full well Lockes was still in the opposing to his decision, Ezro stared him dead in the eyes. “That’s an order, helmsman.” Hopefully, after all this his dear friend wouldn’t hater him. Upset sure, but Ezro knew Lockes could hold a serious grudge and if that were to happen there’d be no easy way out of it. “Isek, Zaera, Marin8, you all get our resources taken care of. We should have enough cash on hand to get what we need. If anything happens let me know, messages only. I don’t need a phone call right in the middle of a mission.” He chuckled before turning to the small lavender haired girl with a smirk, “Come along Liana.” With that said Ezro made his way to the decontamination chambers. And once he was fit to leave, he exited onto the platform once his ship was docked and waited outside for the others.

"...Fine, do whatever you damn well want captain, i'm going on ahead..."

said Lockes, although he knew the captain was right, that didn't mean he didn't have to like his decision, plus, something seemed off in the way Lockes was acting...it was almost, as though that he definitely didn't want Liana coming along more then anything...it must have been something tied to his secret past that not even the captain knows about asides from their meeting one another, although the captain was right on the subject of Liana and not to baby her all the time, Lockes...couldn't help but get angered on the inside, even if the expression on his face didn't look angry on the outside, he stormed off, needing to cool down and get some fresh air, that was what he was subconsciously thinking...

Siren77 Siren77

While Lockes and Ezro waited outside for the others, the young captain couldn’t help but feel a slight contention between the two though it hasn’t been voiced yet. Looking over at his good friend, Lockes appeared to be deep in though. Taking in a deep breath, Ezro approached the older man and put his hand on his shoulder. “What’s on your mind Lockes?” He wasn’t entirely sure if it was his place to ask, but if his helmsman wanted to talk about it he’d atlesst be there for him. If not he would easily back off and leave the man be.

"Well," Isek says turning to the woman he's apparently taking to the market "I guess you're with me. Alright, Marin8 you know what to do."
Marin8 creates a platform on top of itself big enough for the three of them. Isek gets on and motions to Zaera.
"Alright, hop on and we'll be on our way. Just don't wander off because there are a lot of unfriendly people around here. It'll be good to have some time to ourselves though, anywhere you want to visit while we're out?"

This . . . was not how she imagined things would go. Of all the possibilities and route this conversation could've taken this is the one that surprised Zaera the most. She watched with curious eyes as the interaction dragged on. Hopefully things will turn out for the best. A small 'humph' left her mouth before she turned to Isek.

Giving him a slightly shaken smile she nods. She got onto the platform created by the robot. With a flick of her hair over her shoulder Zaera looked at the man, smirking playfully. "Oh boo, you say that as if I can't take care of myself!" she says, her tone as teasing as ever. She patted her hip where her blaster lied just beneath her coat.

"Well after we get our supplies we could mull around for a bit? See what we stumble upon," she suggested with a toothy grin. Out of the corner of her eye she sees Ezro and Lockes leave the ship, leaving Liana to catch up. A look of worry flashes through her eyes but just as quickly as it came it was gone.

"..."Sigh"...sorry captain, i know it wasn't my place to get angry like that, its just..."

said Lockes, as he was then about to say the reason of why he got angry over why he didn't want Liana accompanying the two on the mission...

“Hey, it’s alright I understand. I know you care for the girl, but caring about her includes letting her learn. This mission could do some good for her, Trust me my friend.” Seeing that there was something more hiding behind Lockes icy stare, he folded his arms and looked him. “Speak your mind, it won’t do you any good to hold it all inside of you and let it fester like this.” Ezro knew this for a fact, as in the beginning of the crew he had been quite an aggressive and angry person, more so than he was now that is. He lashed out unecessarily and almost always refused to speak to anyone lest it have been for orders. However, after finally getting asked by Lockes about why he was this way. Ezro poured out his sob story, and everything just seemed to melt away. The feeling only continued after he was to tell Zaera as well, of course it was her he more discussed with about it as opposed to simply telling her.
