Are you a GM? Not being rude just wondering? And I do want to have correct expectations and I won't join if I'm not happy with the length...which is why I'm asking?
And when I GM I have strict expectations to be met and many of the higher level roleplays I like have strict expectations. So. Yeah. It does happen.
No I am not this thread's GM. But given she is absent at the moment I thought I'd give you the heads-up.

I take back my statement that it is that rare for roleplays to meet expected lengths. But this one has no such restrictions in the rules (overview)

Right which is why I tagged the GM x D But cool. I would think this more complex and thought out concept would require a little more thought in posts.

Well, it is labeled "detailed". Though the goodwill and commitment of the roleplayers is not being forced, but rather, being left to our own decision and capacity. Some might end up writing more (you if you join) than others, but the overall experience doesn't really require everyone to post large lengths.

Just my thoughts.

I disagree, respectfully. If everyone isn't operating under some basic minimum at least you're going to lose people. I get super discouraged when I put in a lot of time and thought to my post and get a response that's three sentences long and riddled with spelling errors. I'm not a superior writer to most people but it sucks when you give more than you get back. If I have a minimum expectation I can make sure I don't work harder than anyone else.

You do have a point in that it feels terrible to give more than you get in your posts cause you feel it went to waste.

However, I must disagree in that I think you're tackling the issue in the wrong angle. You're trying to force content out of people (a minimum length), but that means the content may as well come out horrible. Being too harsh on this is asking the impossible for many people who, let's say, may be busy And not have that kind of time, or who may at this or that point simply have a writer's block. For example, I am at this point very limited, cause I'm not home but out, and thus I have to use my phone to type. My grammar issues double and my length can halve, all because I don't have the best medium.

Rather than a minimum length a proper help in the conditions to allow the creation of quality content is important. For example, I've talked about rude characters here. There are several types of them, but in general cases they are troublesome for the flow, especially in large numbers. Yet, they are also one of the first types that are usually aimed at rpers, because a lot of people just don't want to put that much effort into their CSes, just want to have the character that lets them do as they please. And THAT stalls everything That comes after, thus reducing both quality and content length.

Hope I'm making sense to you so far.

I think it's a personal preference. I prefer role playing with people who can match me. Role playing is about having fun and for me growing as a writer. I don't want to put time into something that isn't going to be fun for me and role plays that don't have minimum expectations generally aren't fun for me. I don't think it's immoral or wrong I just don't want to participate in those types of roleplays. I try to be sympathetic to others and their issues but again this is a hobby and I want to enjoy my hobby. I am also 100% happier waiting for something awesome and matching my post length than being given something I see as discouraging really quickly. I don't have to be in every role play and I'm totally okay with that.

As I mentioned before length and quality are different.

Which is best? A one paragraph post with a writing that is both exciting to read, has perfect grammar and moves things foward properly or a five paragraph one with spelling errors everywhere and which does nothing but tell you something completly our of topic that doesn't allow you to move the plot (AKA a ton of filler)?

You're assuming all lengthy posts are bad quality and that's not the case. This is literally a debate of preference at this point so I'm going to leave it at that. I'm not condemning short posts and I don't think they're bad quality most of the time but I feel like I deliver both and I want both back. So you can think I'm wrong like that's cool but I have my preferences and again I want to enjoy my hobby to the fullest

I was making no such assumption. Simply stating length is a poor mean of judgement of whether something is good or bad.

But as you say, let us avoid fruitless arguments and agree to disagree.

I think I'm pretty much finished with my character, so lmk if anyone wants to discuss any specific relationships :)

Hmmm...How about your character and mine have a teaser and teased relationship ? (your character being the first and mine the second). It would fit their personas, I think.

As for interpersonal stuff, they could start out as strangers or we could gave them have been best friends or even childhood friends. Yeah, maybe childhood friends, given my character had this time in the backstory when he had to change schools, so maybe they could have known each other from his first school and they come back to find out just how much the other has changed.

Maybe this could all turn to a romantic relation between them later on, though I don't think an immediate love would work for me unless you really wanted it to stick around.

[QUOTE="Midnight Peace]Ahhhh I was gonna draw Allen today but I lost my stylus ;-;

Write him up and draw him latter then.

Yeah I like childhood best friends who were separated only to come back together again

And I would be up for having it blossom into a romance later on- I agree tho, I don't think it would be an immediate love

awsome, I'll add it to the backstory then.

Ah, you're all awesome for doing these things! Today I spent entirely inside a vehicle driving home from visiting family, and I just got back, so I will review your Chara Apps first thing tomorrow morning with a clear head (all I can hear in my head right now are those blasted windshield wipers...). Thank you for putting so much hard work into everything so far, and I look forward to reviewing all of your characters tomorrow! They should be finished by noon time. I will post here when they're all done~ Yay!

I'm intrigued by this idea. What's the level of literacy required? I know it says detailed but I have too many mid-low level details under my belt so I want something with a higher expectation. Just so I don't have incorrect expectations. @Evine
Good question! This tags along with the rules, which I will be posting in the Overview section tomorrow morning. I will have a paragraph minimum count for each post and such(probably around three), and minimum sentences to each paragraph as well(probably 4-5), though an occasional post with less than this is okay. Not all the time, though. This is a Detailed roleplay, so I expect the literacy to be fairly clear. However, everyone isn't perfect, so I do not expect pristine writing skills. I do expect accurate literacy, though!

@Semblance , added your character in two episodes of mine's backstory. I tried to stay faithful to how your character would act, but feel free to read it over to make sure it is ok.

Looks good! Although her last name is Araceli not Graceli ahaha

There's a lot of OOC already! But can people still apply to this RP? (I really want to start joining RPs again and this sounds really really interesting). ;;;

Of course you can! The to has not started yet. All this OOC is our preparations with the characters, their roles and relationships (go to page 1 to find my questions), so don't worry, you're welcome here!

(Well, and 1 minor argument, but bygones are bygones)
