I believe it's that he tone of growl/hiss/roar is supposed to be their communication

I'm not for sure but when I entered the hive in the games it sounded like some hisses and clicking so maybe that's a sign.

The 2010 game... don't know if I was just paranoid but I seemed to hear that.

i don't know they are all smart animals aside from the queen that aren't implied to have a language the hisses and clicks are most likely just signals not actual words

That would make sense due to right after hearing them I get attacked.... Well everything has it's own explanation.
