The Tales of the Bashful and the Gregarious

Serena smiled softly at the Leon's words, nodding lightly while continuing to nibble on her ice cream. "You'd really like that?" She asked, surprised. She hadn't expected him to warm up to her so quickly, but she was happy that they were moving along quite well. "That's wonderful. Then we'll meet here every Thursday after school. Yay!" She was enthused, nearly jumping to hug him in her excitement. Instead, she managed to keep herself calm so she didn't force him into discomfort.

Leon smiled sheepishly. He saw that it was starting to get late. "I have to go, sorry. My mom might start to worry about me for not coming home immediately."

Serena blinked, standing up. "Okay. I understand." She nodded, continuing to nibble on her ice cream before glancing Leon's way. "Well....Do you want me to walk with you on your way home? Make sure you get home safely? I can catch a bus or something to my home after."

"Oh...Okay." Serena stated, offering him a light smile before beginning to walk to the exit. "I'll see you tomorrow then. Have a nice night." She mumbled, giving him a light wave with her free hand before beginning to head towards her own home, humming a light tune.

Leon sighed a big sigh, waving back at Serena before walking to his house. For some reason, he thought someone was staring at him. It was a familiar presence, so he began to walk faster back home.

Serana, like her usual self, waltzed home without any care in the world. Smiling, waving, and greeting people was a a simple task in her mind. It required such little effort in her outgoing mind. When she arrived home, her mother talked to her about her school day and they chit-chatted over other silly matters before she went off to do homework.

"Well, if it isn't 'Old Leon'?" cried a familiar voice. Leon shook with even more fear as he began to walk even faster. "Woah, where ya goin', buddy?" The voice caught up with Leon.

"Hey, Tyler," Leon said sheepishly, looking away from the boy. He knew the guy was staring at him, so he looked away so he wouldn't be affected from his fear as much.

Serena was contently resting at home, having finished her homework and retreated to texting friends and watching tv. Things were calm, as they should be, and she was highly pleased that she'd managed to befriend a boy who dwelled on the shyer side. She had to admit, regretably, that she rarely grew close to sheepish individuals. Sometimes it just became uncomfortable being around people who didn't share her same overactive personality. Yet, she swore to better herself. She wanted to accumulate tons of friends, so she had no other option but to grow and learn in the art of friendship. It was a difficut road to travel, but a satisfying and fulfilling one nonetheless. It was all worth it once she saw their smile.

"Sooooo, how's it goin?" Tyler sneered. He began walking backwards, almost tauntingly.

"N-not much," Leon said quietly, shuffling sideways to get away from Tyler, who stuck to him like glue.

"
I see you've made a new friend."

Leon remained quiet.

"
C'mon, talk, dumbass." Tyler shoved Leon sideways, knocking him down. He then proceeded to stare intensely. Leon caught Tyler's staring eyes and was paralyzed with fear. "Ha, still a baby as always. See ya around, 'Old Leon'." Tyler walked away, leaving Leon alone in the middle of the path.

A tear ran down Leon's face as he got back up and ran back home.

Serena got called down for dinner, enjoying it with her mother. Her father was usually away on business, but they video chatted or called frequent enough that it never felt like he was completely missing from her life. Talking to him about things that she experienced throughout the days didn't bother her. He'd enthuse with her, noting how wonderful it must've been, like he'd really seen it all himself. They sent tons of pictures, and supported his career.

They didn't mind, either. He had to work to help support his family. They just worried about him sometimes.

Finishing dinner quickly, she told her mother she loved her and rushed back to her room to lay down. She didn't usually stay up late. She always got up super early to help her mother.

Leon rushed into the house, trying to keep quiet because his mother was already asleep after an exhausting day at work. His dinner was left on the table, so as soon as he finished eating, he did his homework and went straight to bed. Quiet sobs could be heard from his room due to the memories he was recalling of Tyler.
